Personal Correspondences
Your own personal associations should always come first when it comes to most things in witchcraft. Colors specifically are a great example of this. Just because we usually associate blue with calmness, doesn't mean you have too. Blue might not be very calming to someone whose mean stepfather always wore a blue jacket. Red might not be very sexy if it's your grandmothers favorite color.
This isn't to say tradition correspondences aren't valid, but you don't have to limit yourself to them. A spell might not go as intended if you're using something that feels like the opposite of your intention. Consider how you feel about certain colors, herbs, etc. beforehand. If rosemary reminds you of a time you felt unsafe, find another herb for your protection spell. If you hate the smell of lavender, it probably wont help calm your anxiety.
The more personal you make your craft, the more effective it will be. Listen to yourself. 💚

I didn't think I had to explain this, but apparently, this is one important nuance that Witchblr misses again and again.
It's not that it's automatically bad bad bad that the color white can mean light and the color black can mean dark.
It's when all you see everywhere is white = good in some form and black = bad in some form, which, let's face it, is all the time in the modern witch communities, that's the problem.
There are still many, many people in the witchcraft spaces who use terms like "white magic" and "black magic", either out of ignorance or willful defiance.
Excuse the pun, but this black and white way of thinking isn't helping anything.
