My redneck neighbor Doug's interpretations on various 'Bad Batch' characters: Side Character Edition!
I'm chuffed that everyone thinks my neighbor Doug is funny: he really is a gem. I had no idea we'd bond over Star Wars and crappy weather, but here we are.
Naturally, I had to bother him about other characters that showed up on The Bad Batch, so, here we go!
Tumblr media
Phee Genoa: Ah-ha, that there’s Church Lady. You know her, she’s got a big square in her pocketbook and you don’t know if it’s pound cake or a brick, because the Lord saves but He can’t help you in the alley when you’re in Treme and the streetlights just turned on. She has two ex-husbands who are both preachers and they turned to Jesus because they are so scared of Church Lady in court.
(So I guess he’s saying Phee has raw WHO DAT energy, for my Saints fans out there)
Cid: Looking at this fat lizard bitch makes me hungry. I call that one Houma-BBQ because I’m guessing we could feed a whole parish fire station based on the size of her tail. I wish she’d shut up, she reminds me of my mother-in-law.
Cad Bane: Homeboy looks like a Sesame Street character who teaches Big Bird about concealed carry laws. I call him Gun Safety Muppet. I don’t like him because he shot my Wife and I’s Boyfriend on the other show and his robot needs to be tossed into a wood chipper.
(“I’m not gay, but Jenny and I…well, we would make an exception to that man. You ever see ‘Deadwood’? Man is fine. I’m not GAY.”)
Fennec Shand: That’s The Chick that’s in Everything. She was on ER and Boba Fett and I think a Marvel show too? I like her. Hope she kills Gun Safety Muppet and hurls his blue ass into a dumpster.
Howzer: That’s my niece’s boyfriend, Jorge. We all love Jorge, nice guy, owns an auto repair shop and always remembers plates and napkins for the cookouts after church.
Gregor: Jorge’s cousin, Manny. Met him once at Christmas in Miami, nice guy, only drinks brown liquor and insists everyone arm wrestle him. But he’s got a good job as a PE teacher, we respect education, come on now.
The Martez Sisters: Aw, man, it’s Jorge’s Unemployed Sisters. I hate it when they show up for Christmas and get into fights with my momma.
(“Doug, you know they’re not related to the clones at all, right?” “Says who?” “The PLOT?” “Eh, they’ll change it, just watch.”)
Mayday: Aw, I liked this guy so much! That’s Sassy Park Ranger, he’s the type that gives you your camping permits, warns you about the bears, and then is all disappointed when you don’t properly stow your food and the bears destroy the campsite. I need to go back to Little River Canyon, that place was pretty.
Lt. Nolan: THAT STUPID BLOND JACKASS. (Doug was so enraged by the guy he had nothing else to add. Damn.)
Senator Chuchi: Why does this lady make me want a blue slushie? I’ll call her the Sonic Special. They need more Sonics here in the north, they really do.
Cody: That’s Obi-Wan’s Boyfriend, he’s sad all the time. We know why. (Confirmed that Doug is a Codywan shipper and I don’t know what to do about that)
Royce Hemlock: Is that Jimmy Neutron after he grew up and became one of those guys that’s on the internet all the time writing creepy things? It’s Jimmy-the-Scientist. He looks like the type of person dogs get weird around.
Rex: That's Rex. He's a king. Respect him.

helloo! i love your writing so much and i wonder would you like to write commander cody with padawan reader, it's after order 66. and as we know in bad batch s2 he's gone to AWOL right? so what if he go to other planets anywhere and meet reader again (let's pretend he already removed his chip lol) imagine how he feels guilt meeting his little padawan after trying to kill her and her master (obi-wan) and how the reader react meeting him again especially looking at her cody sun armor become gray like shadow unlike him.
(sorry if my english kinda messed up, and have a great day!! <3)
Wow, just wow
“Sunshine”
Summary: after order 66 Cody jumps at only the chance to get at least one person from his old life back- no matter the cost
Paring: Cody x GN padawan Reader (it’s platonic!)
Warning: hurt/comfort nightmares ptsd let me know if I missed anything
Word count: 1822
Notes: I’m very proud of this one and I hope you enjoy! It’s also not proofread because I need some sleep

Cody’s head hurt again.
But it wasn’t like last time, he was in control now and always will be.
“How are you feeling Kotes?” Rex came around the tables and laid a hand on Cody’s shoulder.
To be honest Cody wasn’t sure what he was feeling, if anything. Nausea sat in the pit of his stomach but he feared that it wasn’t just from the procedure he went through.
A hand reached up to the side of his head, the fresh bandage felt course under his hand- the all to familiar feeling of before.
“I’m fine.” Cody’s voice was raspy and burned his throat- Rex picked up on this and quickly went to get him a drink of water.
There he sat alone.
He was alone for a while now, but nothing like this. If you went back a few week you would see the small spark of hope illuminating in his eyes.
Cody wasn’t sure of a lot of things since the war ended but maybe it was the illusion of hope that he and Crosshair could escape together.
“Good soldiers follow orders.”
Then Cody went AWOL. Finally it seemed that he got his mind right- the headaches and the dreams that plagued him however said otherwise.
Rex walked back in. Cody’s eyes were clouded in thought as he sat unmoving on the table.
Placing a ginger hand on his knee Rex has never seen is brother in such a state. But the way he felt in this moment- finally getting his free will totally returned to him was something he would never forget.
“Hey Kotes,” Rex helped him to his feet and lend him out into the halls. “We found something you might need to take a look at.”
Cody almost instantly snapped back to attention as the pair of brothers made their way back to the ship they arrived on.
“A few radars picked up on some chatter from the bounty hunters guild.” Rex returned to the Captain Cody knows and loves, things were going back to how they use to be.
“Why would your crew have any interest in the guilds?” Cody questioned, a little slow to connect the dots. “Your fighting an empire here.”
Rex stared at him for a moment, his try at a sarcastic tone clearly flew over Rex’s head.
It was one of the only times Cody has ever seen Rex so unsure about what he was about to say. “We picked up Y/N’s location. The bounty for Jedi are unbelievably high and I’m worried if one of us doesn’t get there in time it might go sour.”
Cody froze in his seat, the end of Rex’s sentence seemed to go blurry. The moment replayed every hour of the day, awake or asleep. He memorized the moment when he watched Obi-wan fall from that terrible hight.
He remembered the look you gave him as he turned to you, your lightsaber coming up in your shaky hands staring at him.
“Cody what’s going on?”
“I- they made it?” Cody looked at Rex, the dark thought that he was playing a terrible joke on him.
Rex only nodded his confirmation. Waiting for Cody to see just want he would do.
You wouldn’t want to see him. Cody didn’t even want to see himself. The terrors he’s created would never wash off no matter how hard he scrubbed.
The armor that surrounded him all his life was striped away, just like everything he has ever known. His sunshine was stripped away as well.
Taking a shaky breath in Cody whispered. “Take me to them.”
•••
Your head hurt again.
It was just like the last time, the moment you realized nobody was on your side anymore.
The purge left you stranded by yourself, unsure of what to do you fled as far as you could.
The outer rim served its purpose for now but the empire was expanding, and the hunters became bolder with their search.
Against your better judgment you tried to reach Ahsoka, Hunter even but it was no use.
Maybe now you were by yourself. Cutoff.
You sat up straight in your makeshift bed. The sheets bawled into your fist as your chest heaved and sweet ran down your back.
You weren’t safe even in your own mind.
You watched him fall. The scream you let out as you lost him over the edge. Everyone around you went off.
Cody. Your Cody turned to you next- all around you heard the all too familiar sound of blasters raising. Cody aimed for you as you brought your weapon up, the thought of hurting any of them never crossed your mind before.
“Cody.” You had tried. “Cody what’s going on?”
The blaster that was shot at you was the moment you woke this time. Other times you weren’t as lucky to be spared with the memory.
The sky was masked with the darkness of the night, your clock told you at you barely sleep 2 hours since you tried to go to sleep.
You gathered yourself as practically dragged yourself to the only window in your “home”
This wasn’t home. Nothing would come close to what the word use to mean to you, but it was soemthing keeping you mildly safe.
The sky above never really changed, it was the only constant you found after the end of the war. The only thing you could depend on that would never harm you.
Your head buzzed again, for a split second you turned to your hidden saber, the weapon you couldn’t pick up since you arrived on this rock. The crystal within buzzed constantly in your ear, begging to be picked up once again.
It use to be a background noise that grounded you, but things have changed.
You stared into the darkness for a moment, the lightsaber wasn’t it. Turning your attention back to the outside world the familiar feeling felt crooked in your chest.
It wasn’t really right, but it was something you recognized none the less.
A cloak that you threw around yourself countless times before made its way to your shoulders- masking you from others and you left closing your door silently behind you.
For a moment you thought maybe, just maybe it was your master heat to tell you everything would be ok, to help you just as he had countless times before.
But you couldn’t think like that, like you use too. Hope burned within you as you followed the force you tried desperately to get rid of.
•••
Cody tried the comm channel he used countless times before, he could practically put it in with his eyes closed.
But of course no answer.
He did try once before- the first night he ran from the empire, alone in the back of a transport ship he tried to reach the Jedi he grew fond of.
It was one of the only instants the commanders eyes watered slightly and his nose ran.
Rex was waiting near by with the ship as he walked the streets of this planet alone. His armor was covered with a poncho Rex lent him and frankly it was the best he could do.
He hoped that you weren’t here, the disgusting streets and inhabitants made him sick. But what if this was better than see him again?
Cody shook that last thought. His hand shook slightly at his side which was a nervous habit he picked up a long time ago.
His eyes scanned the dark scenery for any sign that you might have been here, a sign Cody hoped nobody else could pick up on.
On instinct he turned down an alley to his left, this was definitely not the place to be at this time.
His eyes squinted trying to pin point a figure towards the end. This was the only time he wished for his helmet that didn’t seem his own.
Something ate at the inside of him again. His breath was sparse wondering if his eyes were playing tricks on him. If his mind was no longer his own.
The figure took a few steps from the shadows that engulfed them. The moon illuminated someone that haunted every minute of his life.
You held a blaster out in front of you, but this time you didn’t shake.
Cody didn’t dare take another step. His eyes were firmly planted on the ground as he kneeled down dropping his blaster in front of him.
“Cody?”
He could only nod, afraid that his voice would highlight just how vulnerable he felt in this very moment.
But he had to say something, he couldn’t leave you again.
“I’m- I’m so sorry kid.” His voice broke through his words. This uncertain feeling engulfed him like a flame showing no mercy. “Sorry, I’m sorry.”
You stared at him for a moment. Taking in the sight- clearly things were different. The sunshine was stripped from him. His eyes, though they tried to avoid you, seemed hollow.
You thought of two things in this moment.
You wanted to run, run from someone that could hurt you all over again, someone that you weren’t even sure you could trust.
Or
You could try to hang onto one of the only things that you so desperately needed. You needed someone.
The blaster clanked to the ground as you walked to Cody. Your guard was up but the tears betrayed what you were really hoping for.
You hoped that Cody was himself again.
Cody looked up, your familiar eyes caught his own. The tears that he dried so many times fell across your cheeks, and he only wished to dry them one more time.
“I’m sorry.” He didn’t know what else to say, his mind left him and he could only mutter the only words that went through his head, as if they could make everything better.
You kneeled down with him. For a second Cody thought this might be a dream of his own and this was the moment that he would loose you once again.
But you stayed.
Quickly you wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him flushed against you.
Cody wasted no time crushing you into him. You cling to him as he continued to whisper small apologies into your hair.
Through the muffled sniffles you voiced. “I liked your other armor kot’ika.”
For the first time in a while Cody found himself giving an actual laugh.
He nodded as he griped you even tighter as if he was afraid that if he let go you would leave.
“I think I could use some help painting it again.” He spoke a little louder. The emotions still sounded in his voice.
It was your turn to nod into his chest. For the first time in a while You found yourself crying tears of relief that finally someone was here for you again.
This time you weren’t going to let him go again.

As Cody walked through the front door, he could hear the needy whines from your bedroom. Still fully clad in his armour he snuck through the apartment until he could see your open door. The view of you grinding against a pillow, desperately bucking your hips into the fabric, mumbling his name repetitively. It was probably the hottest thing he’d ever seen you do. Removing his codpiece he enjoyed the few for a minute before getting an idea.
“Cyare, all you had to do was call” He smirked watching as you jumped from the bed in shock. “Cody you fucking pervert!” You shouted. “Nothing I haven’t seen before” He teased. “You’re late,” You tell him. “Yeah? And someone has no patience” He replied sitting on the edge of the bed, pulling you to his lap. You kissed him hard, he’d been gone all day and it was hard not to be so needy thinking of Cody. “How about you use my thigh like you did that pillow” He whispered removing his armour for you to get comfortable on him. “Cody” You whined nuzzling into his neck.
He chuckled and shook his head. “You’re being a brat right now baby, follow your orders” He whispers, you knew you were playing a dangerous game being whiny with him. “Yes commander” You mumbled. His hands were set on your hips beginning to guide your movements how he liked. The fabric of his blacks felt amazing against your pussy. Your wetness soaked through and you could feel how he flexed his thigh beneath you. “Commander” You whimpered. Cody admired your movements as you started to rut desperately. “Look at you mesh’la, so horny for me,” He said slapping your ass, encouraging you to go faster.
He continued to kiss you, your lips becoming swollen from his bites as you fucked against his thigh. “I can feel how wet you are it’s pathetic” He smirked against your neck beginning his trail of hickeys. “Cody please, I need your cock. T-This isn’t enough” You beg. “Yes, it is. You know you can baby” “I can’t” You replied breathlessly craving all of him. “Do it” He growled threading his fingers through your hair to tug on them, giving him better access to your neck. “Be a good slut for me”
Your hips began to move erratically chasing your orgasm. Cody admired how pathetic you looked. So desperate and wrapped up in your own pleasure that you didn’t care how you looked. “Cum for me baby, you know you want to” He smirked watching the familiar look on your face as you came repeating his name. You soaked his thigh perfectly resting your head against his armoured shoulder already feeling fucked out. “On the bed, we’re not finished yet Cyare” He whispered.

THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT | COMMANDER CODY
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This fic is for the @cloneficgiftexchange , my story is too @chicknstripz based of the prompt "Do you think they saw us sneak off?"
Synopsis: Galas have never interested you. Dressing up, smothering makeup on, and entertaining people who attended for appearances alone is pitiful as well as painful, but an unexpected guest turns the dreadful night around.
Warnings: female reader, fluff, kissing, no spice, happy fucking ending bc he deserves one. W/C: 1225
Notes: i know you said fluff, but i had to add a pinch of sadness. i actually can't help myself! I hope you like it!

Tumblr media
You'd rather be anywhere but here. No matter how the senators framed this gala, it was nothing but an excuse to garner support for the Republic and funds despite the invite plastering "charity" over the heading. Being an advisor to the Republic, you often attend such events in a dress worth more than most Corosants residents' paychecks. It's a requirement for someone working so in-depth with Jedi and clones alike, no matter how entitled you feel and far from the comfort of your uniform when you step into the building.
Soft classical music floats out the grand doors, and the troopers you pass by nod respectfully after noticing you from your many appearances through different battalions. You could easily be picked out among the rest, whether it was how uncomfortable you looked or the dress that didn't fit quite right, you didn't know. You offer them a smile before turning back to polite chatter barely above the melody. Maybe you would have enjoyed this more and soaked in these rare pleasantries if tomorrow's work hadn't hung over your head so dauntingly. Working with the 501st never bothered you. In fact, you got along well with Rex and his men, but pursuing any diplomacy with Anakin present is nothing short of exasperating, so much so that you find it hard to believe he holds the rank of a Jedi.
"Well, don't you look lonely?" the man behind you asks. An unmistakable husk to the teasing lilt in his voice prompts your head to jerk in surprise. You turn, caught in Cody's gaze, while the confidence slowly drains from his eyes the longer you hold it, finally noticing the front of your dress dripping down your curves. There's something inexplicable in his stare, the way it slowly slides down your body, an emotion you could only compare to ravenous enlarging his pupils.
"You look…" he trails off, his Adam's apple bobbing as his irises find their way back to yours in an attempt to formulate the words congealed in his throat. "Really nice."
He bites back a wince. That's not what he wanted to say.
Your chuckle does little to settle him, his mind rushing with possibilities of how you interpreted his complement as your hands run down his suit lapel, and he tries to straighten himself, maybe to seem presentable in front of you. Even after all the battles you've witnessed together, Cody still makes an effort to look like what he feels is a "real man." As if there was such a thing.
"And you cleaned up nicely." He did. He really did. Cody looked almost...regal in the tailored black suit, rippling with lean muscle accentuated by the hugging fabric. Heat rises to your cheeks the longer you stare, and you clear your throat, forcing yourself to concentrate on what you're saying. "Well, I didn't expect you to show up tonight, not that it's unwelcome."
You offer him a smile, understanding his flushed expression as thinly veiled embarrassment, removing your hands from his chest. A look of longing flashes across his honeyed irises before he clears his throat, his hand rubbing sheepishly at his nape.
"Yeah, well, I usually see you before you're sent elsewhere. Besides, certain clone commanders were invited to showcase ourselves to members of the Senate…something about seeing us in person." He huffs, clearly disgruntled. "Not that it matters. It won't change their opinions of us."
You nodded. You've been around your fair share of senators throughout your career. But, being one of many ambassadors in the military and traveling across star systems to quell conflict in the people, senators often discarded them. Tossing their opinions forged from many years of training aside from the preconception that comes with the name. Seeing the hatred clones face is one thing, but witnessing how deeply it affects them is another.
Cody avoids your regard, searching for anything else to latch onto besides the raw emotions crackling in the air.
"Hey." A finger taps against his prominent jawbone, drawing him away from his thoughts. "Not right now. Let's just make the most of this time."
You reach for his hand, lacing your fingers and giving the rough skin a squeeze, calluses digging into yours. Loud laughter slices through the air, and your attention shifts to the group of aristocrats loudly talking among themselves, glasses of alcohol swinging loosely in their hands. You wince, the environment you created fleeting from your grasp just as Cody leans in, his mouth a hairsbreadth away from your ear, and a raspy breath accompanied by a hum is enough to have you hanging off every single word. "Let's get out of here, yeah? Make the most of our time?"
You can only nod, the words caught in your throat as the familiar warmth ignites in your stomach, spreading throughout your limbs until you're giddy with the implications of what comes next.
Knowing the layout better than you, he leads you by hand down the hall, passing guards in a hazy blur, your head reeling at the point of contact. The mysteriousness, the longing, the desire to be closer than you could have ever imagined has your breaths coming in shallow pants, desperate for some reprieve from the shared ache between you two.
Finally, the door slides open, the night air kissing your cheeks with a chilliness you feel under your skin. The soft shut of the door behind you and his face in front of yours allows an unprompted giggle to slide past your lips, stealing a glimpse of the door before peeking back at him.
"Do you think they saw us sneak off?" His lips twitch into a ghost of a grin, stepping towards you. You feel like teenagers, too wrapped in the moment to consider the consequences and everything that could crush what you've constructed into thousands of pieces, absorbed in the thrill of secrecy to consider your lives outside this instance. Not Republic members fighting for a better tomorrow, just lovers.
"You worry too much for your own good." Cody slides a hand up your cheek, and you can feel the pulse in his fingertips, the quickness of his breath. He seems nervous, debating the action before pressing his lips to yours in a tender cling. It's cliché the way it steals your breath away as you melt into him, and the hands that shift from your cheeks to shoulders and then slide painstakingly down your back are filled with tender warmth. You feel aware of everything at once, the pressure of his mouth, the taste of your kiss, the ardor of his hand cascading down the knobs of your spine, and the texture of his slightly cracked lips.
He holds your mouth captive so he can feel every place where they touch and every place when they pull away. You can't help but savor the air you share in seconds afterwards as you slip your nose across his, the instant too intimate to be painted by words. Even your breaths sync together while you stand there.
Cody's fingers drift to your hips, pulling you flush to his chest in a swift movement. Gentle hands draw circles along your covered skin, pressing a kiss next to your ear. His voice is husker than usual, mysterious, and inviting.
"But I wouldn't have it any other way."

Pretty Lies
Pairing: Commander Cody x Reader Summary: Goodbyes aren't so bitter when you coat them in pretty lies. Warnings: Fluff, hurt/comfort, angst. Reader is force sensitive but doesn't realize it. Wordcount: 2.3k Square: "Run away with me." @clonexreaderbingo
Tumblr media
It was unusually stormy on Coruscant.  Clouds shroud the planet, and distant thunder rumbles in the background. It envelops your apartment in darkness. By this time the sun’s rays would normally be breaking past the horizon, instead the skyline holds nothing but ominosity. It adds to the uneasy feeling you had woken up with. Your mind is swimming with worry for the man who means absolutely everything to you.
The apartment is quiet, other than the sound of the shower running in the fresher. Cody had gotten up early to prepare for his next campaign. The feeling of him leaving the bed had woken you, but you didn’t move a muscle, even after he pressed a fleeting kiss to your temple. You got up shortly after, and started to gather what he needed before he left and made his morning caf.
Now you sit on the counter with your legs hanging over the edge as you chew on your thumb nail. You look out at the impending storm as dread continues to twist your stomach.
Utapau. He was going to Utapau. The outer rim was so far, and so many things could go wrong in Master Kenobi’s hunt for Grievous, you couldn’t help but worry. You weren’t even supposed to know that information, but Cody trusts you and confides in you often.
A chill falls over you as the rumbles of thunder come closer, your skin breaking into goosebumps as a flash of silver lightning illuminates your small apartment briefly. That’s not what gives you the chills, though. It was the thought that you would never see Cody again.
Finding Grievous is important, you know that. You know it means being closer to the end of the war. However, the closer the war nears its end the more intensely you felt this thick sense of dread. You could never place where this fear came from; it was dark and evasive, escaping like smoke through your fingertips.
The door to the fresher hisses open, soft white light and wisps of steam pouring into the dark living room. Cody steps out, sweatpants slung low on his hips and soft damp curls hanging over his face. Just his presence is enough to soothe you, pushing the darkness from your mind and silencing the storming thoughts.
The light from the fresher is cut when the door shuts, the only light coming from the data pad his eyes are glued to. As he approaches you pick up the fresh caf next to you, thankful for the way it warms your hands. Once he is in front of you, your legs part slightly so he can stand between them.
He sets his datapad on the counter and turns his attention towards you, huffing when you bring the mug to your lips and take a sip of the caf. You grimace when the bitter taste coats your tongue, and it takes all your willpower not to gag as you hand him the cup.
“I don’t know how you drink your caf like that.”
He hums as he takes a sip, his eyes crinkling in the corners as he smiles at you over the cup. He sets the mug down before caging you in on the counter by placing his hands on either side of you. He leans in quickly and steals a kiss. It’s sweet enough to make you forget about the bitter caf.
“Better?” He questions, his lips brushing softly against yours.
“Much.” You giggle as he shakes his head at you. “You know, Rex drinks flavored caf now…”
Cody hums again and steals another kiss. “Drink his caf then.”
You snort and playfully push his face away, a warm chuckle escaping his lips. A comfortable silence falls over the apartment as he goes back to skimming through the information on his data pad. His free hand rests on your thigh, his thumb rubbing little circles into your soft skin. Your eyes rove over him, noticing the droplets of water that still cling to his skin, the smell of his sage and alpine soap enveloping you. The blue light from his data pad illuminates the two of you, accentuating his soft curves and the muscles that lie beneath them. Your eyes follow the trail of hair just beneath his navel, following the gentle v that dips beneath his sweatpants.
His warm chuckle causes your eyes to snap back up to his face. He hasn’t even looked up from his data pad, yet he is completely aware of the fact that you were checking him out. Despite the heat rising to your cheeks at being caught, you lean forward and press a small peck to his cheek. He tilts his head slightly towards you, his eyes still scanning the mission details but you know what he wants. A soft giggle bubbles past your lips as you press a second peck to his lips.
The first few raindrops of the approaching storm tap against your windows as the two of you bask in the last couple of hours you have together. You try not to distract him too much, but when you crave his attention you press a few kisses to the places you can reach. While he doesn’t say it, you can tell he’s absolutely loving the adoration you’re smothering him in.
His hand leaves your thigh briefly to pick up his caf, a yawn escaping your lips as he brings the cup to his lips.  The rain is pelting your windows now, and you can’t  help but hope that the storm will delay his departure for just another hour. You doubt it though.
“You should go back to sleep,” he mumbles as he sets the mug back on the counter. His voice is gentle and full of concern while his eyes hold a warmth that has butterflies erupting in your stomach.
“M’not tired.”
He releases a quiet sigh that you barely hear over the roaring of the rain outside. He sets his data pad down and turns his attention fully towards you. He knows there’s no point in trying to convince you by the smile that slowly works its way onto your lips.
You kiss his jaw, laughing when he turns his head quickly to capture your lips in a brief kiss. He rests his forehead against yours and playfully nudges your nose with his, eliciting another giggle from you. You’re so warm when you’re with him, he brings a comfort you’ve genuinely never experienced. He’s a familiar but new feeling all at the same time.
Your gaze briefly drifts to the holoclock behind him and it feels like you’re suddenly plunged into freezing water. Your heart drops and a painful lump forms in your throat that makes it hard to breathe. He grasps your chin between his thumb and forefinger and gently turns your head back to him.
“Hey now…none of that.”
He pulls you into a languid kiss, hoping it erases the heartache from your mind. When he pulls away, though, he finds that your eyes are full of tears. His hands cup your face gingerly, his thumbs stroking across your cheeks as his brows crease.
“What’s going on in that pretty head of yours?”
You sniffle, throat burning as you rapidly blink back tears. This isn’t how you wanted this morning to go. This isn’t supposed to be about you. It’s supposed to be about making the last few hours of his leave peaceful. Somehow, even when he’s right in front of you, fear has managed to cloud your mind once again. It held the sickening promise that you would never see him again.
“You have to talk to me, mesh’la.” The crease in his brow deepened as he swipes a few tears that escaped from your cheeks. Guilt starts to eat at you for making him worry about you. He presses a kiss to the corner of your mouth. “Please?”
His eyes are so genuine and gentle that the words slip past your lips before you can even think twice about it.
“Run away with me.”
His eyes soften, shoulders slouching slightly as your words hang in the air. You feel selfish for even suggesting it, you start to apologize when he speaks over you.
“I will.”
He chuckles quietly at your shocked expression, placing another kiss on your temple.
“Once this mission is over.”
Another kiss to your cheek.
“We’ll run away.”
A kiss to your nose.
“Somewhere quiet and warm.”
The final kiss is on your lips, passionate and full of promise.
“And then you’ll get to keep me all to yourself.” He mumbles it against your lips, and you shiver against him. A grin grows on his face as he pulls away.
 “How’s that sound, pretty girl?”
Like lies. It sounds like pretty lies. Like a promise meant to comfort you, but one he’ll never be able to keep. Because you know could never leave his brothers, and you would never force him to. But it sure was pretty to pretend.
“Somewhere by a lake?” You ask with a slight tilt of your head.
His eyes glitter as he hums softly.
“Naboo is beautiful this time of year.”
“How many massiffs?”
He shakes his head with a playful roll of his eyes, his smile soft and warm.
“As many as you want.”
Your smile reflects his, but it fades slowly when doubt starts to sink in. Cody is quick to start peppering your faces in kisses, smiling against your skin when a chuckle is pulled from your lips.
“There’s that laugh I was  missing.”
You’re about to tease him for being so corny, but his lips meet yours again. He inhales slowly, tilting his head to deepen the kiss. Your arms slowly start to raise up to drape around his neck when an alarm sounds on his data pad that makes you jump. You know it means he has to leave, so you start to break the kiss. He surges forward, crashing his lips into yours again. His brows furrow as his tongue slips past your parted lips, one hand gripping your hip and the other still grips your chin to keep you in place. Your fingers tangle in his short locks, arching into him so you can feel his warm skin through your thin shirt. He only pulls away when your lungs are screaming for air, but he immediately begins trailing small kisses along your jaw before traveling down your neck.
A soft sigh escapes your swollen lips as your head tilts back to give him more access. Another alarm sounds from his data pad, causing your eyes to lazily flutter open.
“You’re gonna be late.” The only acknowledgement you receive is a hum that vibrates against your neck before he reaches  over and fumbles to shut the data pad off.
“Cody…You can’t-” You cut yourself off with a gasp when his teeth harshly nip at your skin, but he quickly soothes it with his tongue. You yelp when he suddenly tugs you off the edge of the counter, your legs wrapping around his waist. His lips crash into yours, desperate and frenzied, as he blindly makes his way over to the couch. He carefully lowers you on to it, his hips wedging between your thighs as you lay back on the cushions. His teeth sink into your bottom lip, and he tugs on it as he pulls away. He’s breathless, warm breath puffing against your cheeks as he rests his forehead against yours.
“I have to go,” he huffs defeatedly, just as his comm chimes from your bedroom. You inhale sharply but give a small nod, ignoring the stinging in your eyes.
“I know.”
He sighs, pressing a brief kiss to your cheek before lifting himself off of you. Instantly you miss his warmth, the chill air of your apartment falling over you again. You sit up, watching as he walks to the bedroom to answer the comm, heart growing heavier every second. Your elbows dig into your thighs  as your head drops into your hands.
The feeling had returned, poisoning your mind with fear of what’s to come. Something inside you screaming to warn Cody… you just don’t  know what you need to warn him about. You’re not sure what this feeling is, or where it came from, but it is draining you. It makes you feel weak, your legs shaking as you force yourself to stand and make your way to the room. Cody has his full kit on, his back turned towards you as he  checks to make sure he has everything before he leaves.
He glances over his shoulder and his stoic expression crumbles into one full of worry. He calls your name in a whisper, catching you when you collapse onto him in a hug. The tears are streaming from your eyes as you hold him against you as tightly as possible, not caring that the plastoid is uncomfortably digging into you. You bury your face into the crook of his neck, desperately trying to quiet your racing mind.
You have to let go, you know it, but your heart is begging you not to. Reluctantly you step back, his arms loosening just slightly but keeping you close to him. You cup his face in his hands, pulling him down just slightly so his forehead rests on yours.
“Be careful,” you whisper with a stuttering breath.
“Always am,” he promises, the faintest smile appearing on his lips. It fades as he pulls you in for a brief kiss, his lips lingering for a few seconds before he hesitatingly pulls away.
“I mean it, we’ll run away together,” he mutters, pressing a final peck to your temple. He picks up his bucket and starts heading to the door with you trailing behind him.
At this point you think he’s starting to believe it himself, that he’s  no longer just telling  pretty lies to make you feel better. A small burst of hope erupts in your chest, cutting through the darkness that shrouds you.
“I believe you.”
However, after saying your final goodbyes, and after the door shuts behind him, you knew it was the last time you’d see him.
