I know this is a bad-faith argument but whenever I hear about "Astarion is gay coded" discourse I can't help but imagine someone saying
"Actually Astarion is not bi, I know this because I am super progressive and not problematic tm and I can clearly see that he acts like a fa-"

If I had a nickel for every Fandom I was in where a small contingent declared that the character with the name pronounced Mina, with an inhuman skin tone, horns, and an association with the color pink, was Black-coded...
The main difference, of course, is that the MHA Fandom is *wrong*.

fun fact! if you kept replaying your og undertale save file into 2024, you actually unlock a secret option to fuck sans nasty in the final corridor, because it's been 8 years of resets which makes frisk 18+! because that's how resetting works according to this fandom apparently

If you don't like the idea of Gale being a father in YOUR game with your Tav or just with any character in general, then, girly by all means don't headcanon it. But actively trying to gatekeep the character, by shaming those who do, well....why be an asshole?
So listen, Gale girlies who want Gale to be a dad, (if this doesn't apply to you then scroll). Gale absolutely has dad energy. I've seen a lot discussion about the "I'm not exactly father material" line he says during act 3 and I'm not the first to say this, but I'm here to remind you that you can't take everything the companions say at face value, because these are complex characters and it's not always black and white. As others have said before, Gale not only has the orb in his chest at the time, but the tadpole, and your situation with him is uncertain and unstable. Of course he's not going to think of himself as father material in that moment. Why? Because it's something so far out of his reach. Gale has a lot of self-esteem issues, and I can definitely see him wanting to be a dad in the future, but unsure if he would even be a good one, but once he is a father, being the absolute dad of dads. Also saying you're not "parent" material, does not automatically equate to "not wanting to be a parent." These feelings can exist separately.
If I do recall, I did see a scene where Tara mentions something about Gale starting a family? Gale finding normalcy and having the things he could never have with Mystra makes perfect sense for his character, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Gale can definitely be seen as a father and would make a great dad. The people who claim so boldly that he wouldn't want children with Tav, are just projecting and they don't see these characters with nuance, they just hear the character say something in the game, and just decide with a gold medal in mental gymnastics that (you're mistaking his "dad energy" for "mother energy" which is actually just "malewife" energy) and spew their own biases out in "hot take" posts with every intention of ruining things for others. It's mean spirited, and should be ignored.
I see you all with your cute little headcanons, naming your Tav and Gale's children, and some of you with amazing fan art. I've seen you draw your little Tav/Gale families. It's precious and it's sweet. Keeping doing what you're doing, and don't let the gatekeepers bring you down. Seeing Gale as a father is perfectly valid.
K. Bye.

tbh i think that even unwinnable fights should be winnable. some of the BEST fights i've ever run as a dm were ones i built kill the players (in a fun way. I had some cutscenes prepped so even the loss would be a different flavour of win)- but then they were clever bastards and managed to either win the fights or pull themselves out of trouble. I think it's perfectly fine to plan for a fight that players aren't supposed to win, but you need to let them. if they can't win, they can't lose, and the meaning of that encounter is diminished. do that too many times, and they stop trusting you to give them roleplay prompts and start expecting to sit there waiting while you drive the story for them.
but if they can win... if there is always the chance to win, no matter how impossible the odds, then they ALWAYS have hope. they always get invested. they feel the big emotions of success or the big emotions of failure, and you fucking Win as a dm/roleplay prompter/lead bastard.

Sibling coded, child coded, selfcest?! Morality police are working over time. I have some thoughts XD
Sibling coded
Ok. So two completely unrelated people who are close in one way are also close in another way. This is like saying you can’t be best friends with your partner(s)? Or can’t have grown up with someone and then be in a relationship with them? Childhood sweethearts? No? What is happening here someone explain what the issue is.
Child coded
I almost don’t even want to get into how ridiculous and ableist this is… but I sure will! You are telling me people who are childlike in some way, physically, emotionally, intellectually cannot have desires or be sexual or engage in romantic relationships? The “coded” part of this means we aren’t talking actual children here, we are talking adult people. So what is really happening here is people (antis I guess) being uncomfortable with folks with certain perceived traits (again, adults) being sexual/romantic/autonomous and living adult lives. It’s weird. Stop it.
Selfcest
Oh my god. Oh. My god. How is this a thing. Our reality does not have human clones or alternate universe/timelines intermingling. There is no way this is even a thing to get up in arms about. It isn’t setting an example or normalizing or whatever the hang up is with other fictional relationships. But if that time comes boy howdy. I still won’t care.

my final thoughts on the matter is that some people were expecting the qsmp awards to act as some Oscar-level event with an Oscar-level voting process as if we haven't been switching between hearing nothing and hearing double the whole stream 💀

New Raincode interview confirms something that I was not surprised to see.
Tumblr media
Highlighted part was translated with DeepL.
Tumblr media
Basically, Kodaka did not intend for Halara to be non-binary or be a positive LGBT rep.
I'm not surprised this is the case becuase Kodaka is still a cis guy and he really did not take to heart all the criticisms people had about Danganronpa when he made Rain Code. A lot of his bad writing choices are still in Rain Code like perverted jokes involving minors and racist character designs, of course when it comes to writing about gender, Kodaka would not write with a progressive mindset.
That said, Halara is still sending a social message, despite Kodaka not wanting it to be that way. Everyone in game respects Halara's gender. they never refer to them with he/she pronouns and there is never a point where they reveal that Halara was lying and they are actually a man/women.
Even when Shinigami, who calls Halara, "Hellara," pokes fun at if Halara is a man or a women, still respects their gender and pronouns
Tumblr media
When Yuma is wondering about Halara's gender, he doesn't ask them because he thinks it would rude to suddenly spring this question up on them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All this is sending the message that even if you question a person's gender when it isn't clearly defined as "male" or "female" you should still respect their identity no matter what as it's the polite thing to do.
And Halara's gender being unspecified means it can be anything from non-binary or agender or even a gender Halara themselves made to suit them.
It's funny how Kodaka can't write a good LGBT character on purpose, it has to be by accident. He accidently wrote Halara to be a positive nb rep.
So while referring to Halara as non-binary may technically be against the creators intention... Who fucking cares, the creator can't force people think about the characters he made in same way he does. They are going to think about characters in the most fun and LGBT positive way.
Sometimes craft even better versions of the character that the creator did not.

Speaking of Code, what exactly was the Jedi Code? Not to get attached to people? If so, they break their own code by having padawans and younglings. You mean to tell me that you can’t be attached to your master and teacher, the one who taught you everything you know?
Sounds like BS to me. Unless someone can explain it too me.
