Crocodad Theory: The not-so-Crack-pot Theory.
Making this post in order to replace my old Crocodad thesis since I think I can do better now. Plus I was still using the old theory name then and I dislike seeing it pinned on my tumblr now. You can find that older post HERE if you desire to!
Tumblr media
Crocodad theory, chances are you have heard about this theory if you are even slightly invested in the One Piece fandom. But despite its infamy, and outside its stanch believers like myself, it's mostly considered a crack theory and used for a laugh.
Now let's be clear, Crocodad theory is not a crack theory. A crack or crack-pot theory is more of a headcanon built on vibes, it's a fun idea made up out of thin air and isn't really serious. If the Crocodad theory was a crack theory it would have evaporated into the nether by now. It's over a decade old, after all, and yet it persists to this day! That is because the Crocodad theory has real evidence from the canon, the One Piece offshoots, and maybe even Oda himself.
If you weren't aware of the Crocodad theory, sometimes lovingly called Dadodile, let me summarize it very succinctly. The theory is that Crocodile is a transgender man and gave birth to Luffy. Crocodile is Luffy's other father and his birthing parent. If you think that sounds ridiculous or even hilarious, let me walk you through it because I assure you- that is intentional.
Let us begin where the theory began... Impel Down.
The possibility for this theory was born in 2009 with these panels:
Tumblr media
The simple fact that Ivankov exists and that he knows Crocodile, from "when he was just starting out" mind you, makes this not only possible but probable.
What other "secret" could Ivakov be speaking of here? It's definitely not his weakness to water, that would just be bad storytelling. It could be that Crocodile is the child of Rocks which is possible considering we now know Ivankov was at the Gods Valley incident. But if I could speak as a writer for a moment, it would really be a waste for an author to introduce a character that can change genders and then bring back one of the first big villains like Crocodile, AND THEN connect the two with the mention of weakness but not make that secret that Crocodile had once been a woman. Or even at least a part of the reason.
But if that reasoning falls through for you, here is some in-canon evidence for the idea that Crocodile is transgender:
First of all, the agents' code names are so gendered: Every single digit agent is Mr with a Mrs, or Ms partner.
Crocodile’s name. His moniker is different from almost every other powerful pirate the story introduces to us. He isn’t just Desert King Crocodile, he is Desert King Sir Crocodile. Again it is oddly pronoun-centered. As if he is trying to remind people that he’s a guy.
The introduction of Bon Clay. Bon Clay is our first canon queer character in One Piece. He makes mention of being a girl many times and feels like a joke character when we first meet him. But as we know in One Piece, a pirate crew is a reflection of the Captain. Crocodile isn’t prejudiced to queer people like Bon Clay alludes to others being a few times. Crocodile even allowed Bon Clay to be both the male and female of his team!
Next up was the reveal of Baby Crocodile and how it’s deliberating ambiguous what gender Crocodile is. In every other Warlord's childhood look reveal, their gender is obvious, so why was Crocodile left out of that?
Tumblr media
Then of course we have Gold Roger's execution, and how almost everyone got a reaction panel. But not Crocodile. No, we only see the back of his head. Oda has shown that he loves to get every single character's reaction to major events, sometimes to a fault. So why is he trying so hard to hide Crocodile from us? It just isn’t Oda’s style to leave someone out unless there is some kind of secret he wants to build up too. Now be sure to keep this in mind for later.
Tumblr media
Last but certainly not least is just how much of an absolute troll Oda is. This will not be the last time I bring this up, Oda is a HUGE troll. He loves to play to his favorite fan theories and he decides most everything on how funny it is. And wouldn't it be funny if the first antagonist in the Grandline was secretly the birth parent of Luffy?
I mean just look at this! Oda, you absolute troll.
Tumblr media
Bottom line: Trans Crocodile is more likely than not.
But this is where a lot of people decide the rest of this theory is crack, they take Trans!Crocodile and leave Crocodad out for reasons I honestly can't understand. Despite that, Cracodad has just as much if not more evidence than the Transgender part of this theory.
Before I begin I would like everyone reading to keep a few things in mind. All throughout the Impel down arc and the journey to Marineford, and even the first few chapters into Marineford, Crocodile could not have given a shit about Luffy, Ace, or the war at all. He did not care who won the war or if everyone involved died. He came to the battlefield for the sole purpose of killing Whitebeard. PERIOD. He was never once shown reacting with any concern when Luffy began facing down anyone strong. Not even Magellan. Crocodile had been around Luffy, seeing him do inspiring things for a massive amount of chapters by the time we get to Marineford, and yet Crocodile literally didn't care if Luffy lived or died, he just wanted to fight Whitebeard.
With that clear let's move on to what happened after Luffy's father was revealed to the world in Marineford. This moment is where the most obvious evidence first came about:
When Sengoku announces Luffy's father to the world we get many reaction shots, but once again Crocodile is conveniently missing from the lineup. He even disappears for a whole chapter! The young man who took down his decade-long plan to take over Alabasta just got announced to be the most wanted man in the world son, and we get no reaction from Crocodile... its suspicious.
Crocodile stopped Ace’s execution: Now Crocodile explains this by saying he ‘didn’t want to let Sengoku have the pleasure of victory’ but seriously? What kind of petty ass BS reasoning is that?! Crocodile has dreams and ambitions, and yet he gives up trying to be the one to take down Whitebeard to randomly save someone he canonly mocks in Impel Down? Someone he doesn’t care about. Some people will tell you it’s because Luffy inspired him like Luffy does many others, but what exactly is Luffy doing in Marineford that he didn’t in Impel Down or even Alabasta? Nothing. That means Crocodile has an entire about-face for no believable reason while completely off-screen. Which we've already said isn't Oda's style.
Daz and Crocodile face Mihawk to help Luffy: When Daz blocks Mihawk’s strike, Luffy questions it. Daz answers: It’s an order from above! That means Crocodile ordered Daz to specifically protect Luffy. Again, why? What reason did he have to do that? If this was some latent Crocodile has been inspired™️ moment, why wouldn’t Oda show it? Oda loves to hype up those moments, and loves to detail it all to the smallest piece. But Crocodile just randomly decided to have his main man Daz look out for this person that he COULDN’T HAVE GIVEN A CRAP ABOUT JUST TEN EPISODES BEFORE does not fit within the story. Then, right after Daz blocks Mihawk, Crocodile appears out of the woodwork to block another attack.
Tumblr media
When Mihawk questions why he’d protect Luffy, Crocodile’s only response is “I’m not in the best mood now, Mihawk, you better watch yourself.” It’s interesting that he has no reason, none, he just comments that he’s in a shit mood. Maybe because he just found out he once stabbed his own child in the gut and left him to die?!
Crocodile vs Akainu: The brother killing Lava Man™️ is probably the most dangerous person in the war. He has no mercy, no morals, no restraint. So the fact that as Luffy is lying comatose and weak, with Jimbe slumped over him, Akainu about to deliver the final blow, Crocodile coming out of nowhere once again is so telling.
Tumblr media
The fact is: Crocodile went above and beyond to save Luffy. That final stand against Akainu is so powerful. Crocodile doesn’t just save Luffy, he rushes to Luffy's aid, slicing through Akainu and reassembles to stand protectively between them. He did not need to do this at all. Oda didn’t need to have him do this either!
There were plenty of other characters that could have essentially done the same exact thing, but Oda chose to have Crocodile, someone who shouldn’t have been on Luffy’s side at all, save his life in the final moment.
Lastly, without a word, Crocodile uses Sables to get Luffy to Law’s ship. He risked his life, faced down the one person who could kill him without a second thought, and sweeps Luffy away to safety without any stated reason at all. In fact, everything he says is deliberately vague. Crocodile doesn’t believe in loyalty, he dumps people if they are weak (see; Alabasta Crocodile vs Luffy desert fight) so his line of “you gotta protect the one you wanna protect! Don’t let them have their way!” Feels so out of character. Crocodile has to have a reason for this odd behavior. And no, it doesn’t end there! In the defense of Luffy, Crocodile has an awesome and powerful moment where he stands in unity with all the Whitebeard commanders. HIS ENEMIES. Crocodile stands in unity with the people, he himself stated he hated more than anything, for Luffy!
These are the moments that alerted people to what would soon be called the Crocomom theory, now called Crocodad. But just because it began there doesn't mean there wasn't foreshadowing from before Marineford.
Let's go over all of that now:
First to talk about is once again Crocodile's crew. Miss Father's Day debuted in episode 124 of the anime and chapter 205 of the manga. She has a green amphibian theme to her, which is interesting because she is a woman with the moniker Father's Day while also having a theme of an animal that is famous for being able to change its gender. Her debut episode even has her introduced along with the reveal that Luffy's using his blood to fight Crocodile.
The next point is something Oda has never explained. Crocodile has strange relationships with children. From hiring a sixteen-year-old Miss Goldenweek, leaving her out of the Mr. 3 assassination order, and her history of actually sinking Crocodile's ships before getting hired, all the way to how Crocodile lectured Luffy in their fight. It just had the cadence of a parent. Not even Luffy's parent, just a parent. He lectures like someone who has experience with children.
Next, Luffy does not look like Dragon. That is a direct quote from Luffy in the manga. But you know who he does look like?
Tumblr media
That's right! Luffy looks a lot like Crocodile. If you need more convincing on this, there is a great post by Dashevacotton that puts together many of the best canon pictures of Luffy dressed up like Crocodile. That post is here!
Crocodile and Luffy are incredibly similar. Not just in looks, but in personality, and in their general life.
These two have so much in common. From having a way with animals, to the amount of unadulterated loyalty they've inspired in their crews, all the way to the cadence of their speech.
Crocodile and Luffy even have a similarly goofy reaction to seeing the underground passage to the Alabasta Poneglyph.
Episode 123, episode time 13:16 Crocodile spots the entrance and laughs, "Ha, now I see secret stairs." Also in episode 123, episode time 20:47 Luffy looks around and spots the secret stairs. "That hole... it looks gator-ish."
Even what we know of Crocodile's backstory is that he had a rapid rise to fame just like Luffy by being a rookie who came in and beat down non-canon characters like Douglas Bullet to the shock of the world.
Next, let's bring up an earlier point: Oda-sensei is a mega troll.
This isn't exactly new information, Oda once deflected to bringing up a dick fight instead of answering if Zoro or Sanji was stronger. He is a Troll. He loves wordplay, and he likes to hint hint nudge nudge us all day long. Just look at Oda having Sanji call himself a prince in Alabasta as a joke, only to realize years later that he actually was a prince.
It's because of Oda's tendency to play around and make knowing jokes we've gotten some pretty compelling evidence for the Crocodad theory.
First would be the wordplay!
-Crocodile is closely linked to a Bananawani-> Monkeys like Banana -> Monkey D. Dragon is a reptilian Monkey attracted to Banana reptile. Fight me - A 'crocodile smile' is a term most often used to mean a fake or ingenuine smile. Crocodile's scar has been liked to look like a 'crocodile smile', which would mean Crocodile is the only character that always has a smile on his face. What a fun bit of wordplay to foreshadow the birth parent of Joyboy!
Then there is this SBS alongside the One Piece School spin-off manga by Sohei Koj.
Tumblr media
What a great way to get out of revealing Luffy's parentage without actually revealing it!
And of course, we have the One Piece Mafia Theatre episode of the anime.
Tumblr media
Oda would certainly make this canon just because of his troll tendencies. This is a hilarious theory because the story supports it yet only a fringe group believes in it. It's hilarious and therefore it's probably true.
Lastly, the symbolism makes this theory truly great.
I've already mentioned how Crocodile's scar being a 'crocodile smile' and thus giving him a permanent smile on his face would make him the most meaningful candidate for Luffy's birth parent. Joyboy, our Sun God Nika, was born from a man with a permanent fake smile; who is also named after an animal with the world's biggest smile.
It's just such a perfect setup, it makes my writer's heart swell.
Since Oda has stated a mother in One Piece would stop the adventure, it would fit that the first major villain in the Grandline to try and stop Luffy's adventure ended up being the man who gave birth to Luffy.
If we are going to speak of symbolism, I'd be remiss not to mention what a crocodile spiritually symbolizes. I really don't think I need to explain why adaptability, creation, ambiguity, and duality mean so much to this theory.
Tumblr media
This theory could die or be confirmed any day now that we've entered a God's Valley flashback. I will love it either way but truly, honestly, I believe this. I hope I convinced a few of you to. If you are interested in the succinct list of Crocodad evidence that post is Here!
So in conclusion...
Crocodad is canon!

𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐘 (𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟒) 𝐐𝐔𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐒. all quotes and sentences were taken from the movie troy (2004). change locations, names and pronouns as you see fit. mentions of war and politics are included in this post.
I'll tell you a secret. Something they don't teach you in your temple. The Gods envy us. They envy us because we're mortal, because any moment might be our last.
Everything is more beautiful because we're doomed. You will never be lovelier than you are now.
If they ever tell my story let them say that I walked with giants.
Men rise and fall like the winter wheat, but these names will never die.
Let them say I lived in the time of Hector, tamer of horses. Let them say I lived in the time of Achilles.
You gave me peace in a lifetime of war.
You're still my enemy in the morning.
You're still my enemy tonight. But even enemies can show respect.
I have endured what no one on earth has endured before. I kissed the hands of the man who killed my son.
I know my country better than the Greeks, I think.
You are a brave man. I could have your head on a spit in the blink of an eye.
Do you really think death frightens me now? I watched my eldest son die, watched you drag his body behind your chariot.
Give him back to me. He deserves a proper burial, you know that. Give him to me.
How many cousins have you killed? How many sons and fathers and brothers and husbands? How many, brave Achilles?
I knew your father, he died before his time. But he was lucky not to live long enough to see his son fall.
War is young men dying and old men talking. You know this. Ignore the politics.
My brothers of the sword! I would rather fight beside you than any army of thousands! Let no man forget how menacing we are.
Do you know what's waiting beyond that beach? Immortality! Take it! It's yours!
I chose nothing. I was born and this is what I am.
Imagine a king who fights his own battles. Wouldn't that be a sight?
Of all the warlords loved by the gods, I hate him the most.
Will strangers hear our names long after we are gone, and wonder who we were, how bravely we fought, how fiercely we loved?
Men are haunted by the vastness of eternity.
You say you're willing to die for love but you know nothing about dying and you know nothing about love!
Go home, prince. Drink some wine, make love to your wife. Tomorrow, we'll have our war.
Perhaps your brother can comfort them. I hear he's good at charming other men's wives.
You speak of war as if it's a game.
But how many wives wait at Troy's gates for husbands they'll never see again?
If you go to Troy, glory will be yours.
And the world will remember your name. But if you go to Troy, you will never come back... for your glory walks hand-in-hand with your doom. And I shall never see you again.
They say your mother was an immortal godess. They say you can't be killed.
You have your swords. I have my tricks. We play with the toys the gods give us.
All my life I've lived by a code and the code is simple: honor the gods, love your woman and defend your country.
Troy is mother to us all. Fight for her!
There are no pacts between lions and men.
Aren't you afraid?
Everyone dies, whether today or fifty years from now.
If I don't, you'll kill more men.
At night I see their faces. All the men I've killed. They're standing there on the far bank of the river Styx. They're waiting for me. They say, 'Welcome, brother'.
Last time you spoke to me like this, you were 10 years old and you'd just stolen Father's horse. What have you done now?
Do you love me, brother? Will you protect me from any enemy?
Well, then your men did. The sun god will have his vengeance.
His priests are dead, and his acolyte's a captive. i think your god is afraid of me.
Afraid? Apollo is master of the sun, he fears nothing.
I know more about the gods than your priests. I've seen them.
You're royalty, aren't you? Spent years talking down to men.
You must be royalty. What's your name? Even the servants of Apollo have names.
What do you want here in Troy? You didn't come for the Spartan queen.
Why kill you now, Prince of Troy, with no-one here to see you fall?
You should not have come here tonight.
That's what you said last night?
Last night was a mistake.
I have made many mistakes this week.
Of all the kings of Greece, I respect you most. But in this war you're a servant. And I refuse to be a servant any longer.
Sometimes you need to serve in order to lead. I hope you understand that one day.
Prince Hector, is he as good a warrior as they say?
You come here uninvited. Go back to your ships and go home.
The sun was shining when your wife left you.
She's up there, watching, isn't she? Good. I want her to watch you die.
And I've seen the limits of your mercy and I tell you now, no son of Troy will ever submit to a foreign ruler.
Trojan soldiers died protecting you. Perhaps they deserve more than your pity.
Pearls from the sea of Propontus.
Am I still your captive?
I have heard rumors of your beauty. And for once, the gossip is right.
Soldiers of Troy! You men are warriors! To lead you has been my honor!
Hector fights for his country! Achilles fights only for himself!
You were brave to fight them. You have courage.
To fight back when I'm attacked? A dog has that kind of courage.
It's no insult to say a dead man is dead.
I can't ask anyone to fight for me. I'm no longer queen of Sparta.
You're a princess of Troy now. And my brother needs you tonight.
Menelaus was a brave man. He fought for honor. And every day I was with him, I wanted to walk into the sea and drown.
I almost lost this war because of your little romance.
I want to see him grow tall. I want to see all the girls chasing after him.
Well, of course you do, she's a beautiful woman.
Then I'll make it easy for him to find me. I'll walk right up to him and tell him you're mine.
May the gods keep the wolves in the fields and the women in our beds.

Sfw omegaverse anon -
The "omega bestie" thing was smth Shanks probably told Luffy - ((Shanks sees a tiny unscented little pup all alone and went "Oh it's free real estate" /hj.)) In actuality, Makino raised Luffy for a good deal of time, but he is a rambunctious child, and I think he'd pester Shanks for stories and songs and all sorts of things. Shanks is a softie and so absolutely caved. Luffy learned a lot of the pirate's code from Shanks as a very small child and he treated it like GOSPEL, bc Shanks was, is and always will be his hero. So he definitely also got some very silly stories about Shanks' youth, and Buggy starred in more than a few, but never explicitly by name, it was always "my best friend" or "my packmate" or, on really sentimental evenings, "my baby brother".
When Luffy first met Buggy in Orangetown, the few braincells he has left sparked a connection - blue haired, sweet smelling, silly, greedy, trickster clown man? Blue haired, sweet smelling, silly, greedy, trickster omega packmate of his semi-adopted dad? Yes, that math is mathing. Small world. Anyway, gotta beat this clown. His hands are rated E for Everyone.
So yeah Luffy definitely knows Buggy is an omega, and when Buggy mentions "we served on the same crew", it just clicks. It's not really a big deal to him anyway, it feels stupid to care about that kind of stuff. You could not PAY him to care (but if you want to try, it's best to pay in food).
But yeah, Rayleigh and Crocus just both went "Ah, the kids will be fine" and then the kids went and were very much Not Fine At All. But that's a conversation for a different time.
Their parental instincts only kick in when Buggy gets flirted with or when Shanks gets hit on with complete seriousness for followup. It's both obnoxious and also funny.
Shanks gets a heart flutter, and by nightfall his denden is ringing bc Rayleigh is 🤏 close to swimming out there what is going on, red-?
When Crocodile and Mihawk finally get their shit straight and start the whole Courting Thing, the Dad Squad Of Remaining Rogers are in perfect synchrony detecting a Disturbance In The Sanctity Of Their Children.
Crocus calls Rayleigh. Rayleigh talks to Crocus. Neither have Buggy's number. How did that happen? Damn. If only Rayleigh lived with a woman who has an expansive information network where she can check for Buggy's contact information. If only Buggy was part of a widely known business with contact information for business needs. If only they considered this information and just how many options they DO have at hand.
Instead, they call Shanks - Shanks who is having a meltdown because "Bugs is growing up" and "two Alphas, really?!"
This does NOT bode well.
One prospective courtship is one thing. TWO simultaneous courtships are complicated. Those two Alphas enacting the courtship being former warlords, a mafia boss and the world's greatest swordsman, is something else entirely.
Crocus is sharpening his harpoon, debating his options. Rayleigh is seriously debating free swimming to the New World. Things are about to go DOWN and it's chaos all around.
Meanwhile, on Karai Bari, the Cross Guild Poly has finally hit the Holding Hands Stage, because they're stupid, silly and none of them are actually working with anything resembling game. Buggy blushes every time Mihawk pulls out his chair, he melts whenever Crocodile gets the door for him, and he's absolutely LOSING IT every time they ask him to spar.
Fighting has become their love language somehow and every time Buggy lands a hit of some kind, the others damn near swoon, which makes HIM swoon, and the crew and mercenaries are just watching this like the weirdest slow burn soap opera ever conceived.
Anyway yee I'm sleepy so I'm off, byyyeee~~~~
Shanks definitely did a Roger, looking at Luffy asks around who's child this is and proceeds to pick him up to Benn’s dismay (That is not paid enough to deal with his captain’s bullshit) Good thing Makino raising Luffy for a good bit of time. Luffy pestering Shanks for all sorts of things too, that's so Buggy.
Shanks talking about talking about Buggy without saying his name, I wonder why he won't say Buggy’s name to Luffy. Maybe Shanks didn't want Luffy to go and find his packmate, but that didn't matter when Luffy met Buggy. Good thing Luffy has some braincells after all that training Garp put him through. And the ‘Yes, that math is mathing. Small world. Anyway, gotta beat this clown. His hands are rated E for Everyone’ Yeah that's so Luffy, like damn he don't spare anyone.
Not Rayleigh and Crocus thinking that Buggy and Shanks will be fine. Indeed that is a conversation for a different time. I understand that Crocus would of given the kids a few things they would need in life while Rayleigh probably like I taught shit, you are good. And dips into the night without saying goodbye to grieve his captain and be with Shakky (for some reason that seems like he would do that. Its a headcanon)
THEN not their parental instincts kicking when Buggy gets flirted with or when Shanks gets hit on with complete seriousness for fucking followup. OH NOOOOOOOOOOO, that’s not how parental instincts should be (I mean to be fair, neither were planning on having kids probably, but then Roger metting those two happened, but like… dudes that’s not how it’s supposed to work)-(Indeed it’s obnoxious and also kind of funny if you ignore that’s not parental instincts should work…) Shanks getting scolded by Rayleigh when his heart’s fluttering, I wonder who that person is, anyway Mihawk and Crocodile getting their shit together and start trying to court Buggy (you know he’ll first think that they are threahing him, so it takes sometime)
Started laughing at ‘the Dad Squad Of Remaining Rogers are in perfect synchrony detecting a Disturbance In The Sanctity Of Their Children’ I love that, you know it’s not only Rayleigh and Cronus because most of the veteran Roger Pirates helped raised them too (hc/)
Crocus and Rayleigh not having Buggy’s number is so them… but what if it’s the same number he always had and they think it’s the wrong number now? Have they bothered to check? Or if they had, Buggy had openly said it wasn’t Buggy’s number? There could be so much more drama, but anyway yeah if ony Rayleigh lived with a woman that can find people’s numbers because she got that information network, if only Rayleigh knows where his child’s business is, oh no it’s too sad that they can’t find anything…
THEY CALLED SHANKS! Oh no! That’s the last place to call to find Buggy and to check if he’s alright! That man is fucking drunk, crying, ranting and raving about this! Oh dear! RIP to Crocodile and Mihawk, even the littlest teasing bullying their clown will land them in bad graces if those men see it (dear gods what if they found out they beat the shit of Buggy one day, that’s when shit would it the fan. Buggy’s followers will have a fucking telenovela to watch, they just need to be a safe distance away because holy shit someone might fucking died in the crossfire) Truly things are about to go DOWN and it's chaos all around… “Big News” Morgan would having the time of his fucking life with this.
Meanwhile on Karai Bari Island, where nobody knows about what might happened later down the line! Awwwwwwwwww, they are now in the Hand Holding Stage!!! That’s so cute! It took awhile because of so many things, good thing they worked it out.
Mihawk and Crocodile being gentlemen to Buggy is amazing, and them asking to spar is like BIG invalidation for him. Fighting and bullying each other (affectionately) is definitely one of their love language. Truly is like the weirdest slow burn soap opera ever conceived.

Gomenasai, my name is Nerevar-Sama.
I'm a 27 year old Dunmer Otaku (Anime fan for you gaijins). I draw Anime and Manga on my tablet, and spend my days perfecting my art and playing superior Akaviri games. (run from dragon, fuck around with monkey, get sucked by tsaesci)
I train with my Daedric Daikatana every day, this superior weapon can cut clean through steel because it is folded over a thousand times, and is vastly superior to any other weapon on Nirn. I earned my sword license two years ago, and I have been getting better every day.
I speak Akaviri fluently, both Tsaesci and the Tang Mo dialect, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about Akaviri history and their bushido code, which I follow 100%
When I get my Akaviri visa, I am moving to Ionith to attend a prestigious High School to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become a warlord for Tsaesci Army or a game designer!
I own several kimonos, which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move to Akavir, so I can fit in easier. I bow to my elders and seniors and speak Akaviri as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.
Wish me luck in Akavir!

When I read the start of your new 'sapsorrow' fic my mind for some reason immediately thought it was a "The Nanny" au.
Despite knowing about the fic and the inspiration for it, for a second I managed to convince myself that Mihawk was about to get a funky Fran Drescher in a tight red dress and a New Yorker accent.
I'm just imagining a regency era, Jane Austen/Bridgerton esque romance series (seriously good job by the way the aesthetics are perfect it's delicious) with the usual amounts of pining and drama, only for them to finally get together and either one of them has to attend to governess or ex-warlord duties on the night of:
Governess: (hands Mihawk a bag) could you put this back in my room? It's what I was going to wear on our honeymoon night.
Mihawk: There's nothing in here but pearls.
Mihawk: •_• °_°
Governess: (whispering) suffer
Also, I really liked how you included the different classifications of a single woman; spinster, thornback, etc. they're always such cool names so I love that you incorporated them and it fit so well with the story of a woman that didn't feel unfulfilled or melancholic about her singledom to embrace the names used to scorn her. A subtle throwaway line but it already endears us to the character and sets up her personality and is so thematically poignant.
Tumblr media
Snail, you're back again with the beautiful thoughts!! How I adore you!
It's absolutely Governess-coded, for sure!! My goodness, how hilarious 👏👏👏.
There is nothing wrong with a woman working hard to master her field: spinster, thornback or otherwise. Just as Mihawk has earnt the title of "world's greatest swordsman" without the aid of a woman, the Governess has worked hard to achieve her status and renown in her element.
And Pearls again 💀

character introduction: cpt. vivian west
Tumblr media
"For a pacifist, you're surprisingly ruthless."
At twenty-one, Vivian West would be young for a starship captain anywhere but the Badlands, where their five-year tenure aboard the Vagabond is uncomfortably normal. In a mostly lawless swath of the galaxy ruled by small, petty bosses and warlords, West navigates the clash between their values and their circumstances via a personal code they refer to as "Batman Rules." They're equally both sweet and a bit of a punk, and prone to whatever the irl equivalent is of liveblogging your mental breakdown. They're hopelessly addicted to sugary, caffeinated drinks, and have a bad habit of collecting love interests as if they were a superhero assembling a team.
West is Terran faerie on their mother's side and ordinary Beltan on their father's, and their name is of their own choosing. They can touch iron and lie, but the mix of ordinary iron-based blood and some faerie physiology has contributed to its own problems: chronic exhaustion, poor vision, constant allergy symptoms, and a struggle to regulate their body temperature. Often they feel slightly uncomfortable in their own body, as if their blood is running wrong in their veins. They live on a constant knife-edge of waiting for the day when their body might decide to attack itself.
The last five years of West's life have been spent in various kinds of mourning for three people: their parents, and Lin Calla, their once-partner. All three still live, but West's circumstances make contact impossible.
When West isn't chasing ion storms around the badlands, tracking their movement to keep other ships safe, they enjoy knitting, listening to music, and analyzing Old Earth film and television. Their favorite show, unsurprisingly, is Raumpatriolle: Orion.
*if west looks familiar, it's b/c i've been using them as an icon for like a year now

TLDR: "A Man With No Name" Lorebook from Destiny 2
"A Man With No Name" lorebook reveals the origins of the polarizing character being The Drifter, some people enjoy his laid-back, witty-tongued nature, some people despise the fact that he's the figurehead of the grueling Gambit playlist. Here is a quick summary of "A Man With No Name"'s 9 pages.
The Drifter is resurrected by his Ghost during the Dark Ages, his ghost tells him to go one way, Drifter runs the opposite, getting himself killed in the process. His Ghost resurrects him, but he still runs in the opposite direction.
Drifter, in his trek away from wherever his Ghost wants him, begins to die of starvation, his Ghost asks if he can help his Guardian, Drifter refuses on the grounds of "Don't need you. I got this" The Ghost implores the Drifter to give himself a name, or perhaps name his Ghost, Drifter refuses, and dies to a scorpion sting.
The Drifter begins to live in a small village named Eaton, he keeps his ghost a secret and lives amongst mortals. He takes on the name of Germaine.
The Iron Lords, lead by Iron Lord Dryden, offer Eaton resources for the harsh winter to stay at their village and use it to set a trap for a notorious Warlord known as the Red Man. A well-known man in Eaton named Judson protests, saying that being around any Risen¹ will get them killed.
A small child talks to Drifter of Judson, that she agrees with him, that the Risen are awful. The Drifter talks how, without the food the Iron Lords had given them, her parents would've starved to death.
Judon attempts to leave Eaton, wanting to get out before his predicted shootout takes place. He says that the Risen kill by nature, and no matter of negotiating will change that. Drifter attempts to get Judson to stay, but he leaves anyways.
A group of 6 Risen Warlords return a week later with Judson, with The Red Man leading them. The people of Eaton accept Judson back, but the Red Man questions where the Iron Lords are on grounds that they saw a Ghost about theie town.
A very bloody fight breaks out amongst Eaton residents, Iron Lords, and Warlords, Drifter's Ghost flies away to a safe space. It is unclear who won the battle, but it is said that multiple risen leave the battle alive, Iron Lord Dryden is one of them.
Drifter is resurrected after the battle amongst the ruins of Eaton, everyone is dead, or gone. Ghost calls him Germaine, Drifter tells him that it isn't his name. He buries the bodies, and finds a barely alive Judson, who sees that Drifter is Risen, accuses him of killing Eaton, then dies.
The Drifter's Ghost tells him that The Drifter has done wrong, that he needn't live amongst mortals, that he can be so much more, in response, Drifter raises his hand towards the Traveller and gives it the bird. 🖕
The Drifter now operates a bar at the base of Felwinter's Peak, he lives under the name Wu Ming and runs "The End of the World Bar"
Citan (Yes, of Citan's Ramparts) comes to take all of Drifter's Food and drink, Lady Efrideet stands up for the bar and wins in a gunfight against Citan and his fireteam.
Drifter climbs Felwinter's Peak to speak to Felwinter, asking him to kill Iron Lord Dryden for wronging Eaton. It is Iron Lord code to not meddle with mortal affairs in the midst of Risen conflicts. Felwinter turns him down, but after he leaves, Felwinter tells his ghost to ready his Iron Banner arsenal.
¹ "Risen" is the term used for resurrected Lightbearers pre-City age. It refers to Guardians, just anyone resurrected via a Ghost to utilize the Light.

Hello… do you have any head canons for Hansen to share? I was disappointed to only have one conversation with him, and you seem like a good person to ask. >:3
Me? Having ideas about the warlord? Nooo never-
Anyways here’s a list of Thoughts that I hope are vaguely coherent, though warning: they’re a tad all over the place
Tumblr media
He was raised by his granny on his father’s side. She was actually from Serbia, and had met his grandfather when he spent some time there then moved back to America with him. His grandfather was dead before he was born, and his mother’s parents weren’t present in his life. Grandma Hansen practically raised little Kurt, his parents were career-oriented – his father a colonel and his mother held some minor political role – so their time for him was limited.
She fostered his love for her home country as she shared stories of her own childhood while tucking him in to bed, or when he was still small enough to sit on her knee. One evening she told him a story of the bauk, and boy did that plant a mild fear of the dark him. He had to sleep with a nightlight for a few weeks after.
His granny owned a dog when he was growing up, dear ol’ Bowie. She was a big loveable mutt who was already quite old when Kurt was born. She’d sleep under his crib when he was a baby, and would walk shakily alongside him as he was taking his first steps. Almost every photo of baby Kurt has Bowie in it, up until he was four years old and she passed.
He got to choose their next pet dog when he was eight, it was a mean looking bastard he named Titan. The Barghest symbol is based on him.
His gran died just before he got promoted to colonel. It broke his heart that she didn’t get to see it, because she was so excited to see him get the recognition he deserved. He took her ashes back to Serbia, promised that he’d visit when he could. He hasn’t been able to visit for a while.
His dad’s dead by the time Barghest is finding its feet, his mother gets removed from her position while Myers is simultaneously airing her very public condemning of her son’s actions. Nothing’s heard from her since. She’s probably dead too tbh.
Kurt’s lactose intolerant. He had to learn to like his coffee black, the cramps just weren’t worth it. (weakling)
Damn though can this man handle his drink. He can hold eye contact and not make a face as he downs vodka straight from the bottle. His men get a good laugh when he blames them and their shit for it. Tbh he’s only partially joking
Kurt when he hears the bullshit Yuri tries to pull:
Tumblr media
His right arm is a recent cybernetic only gotten in the past year or two, meanwhile his left was standard militech-issued at the time he was serving. He suffered a relatively minor injury during training and took the opportunity to get an upgrade.
He’s rather wary of netrunners, esp more combat oriented ones. While he appreciates their effectiveness and utility, he always has an edge of caution around them and takes particular care to keep them either charmed or afraid, whatever keeps them from potentially acting against him.
During Operation: Midnight Storm, there was always this quiet wariness to Hansen and his men when an Arasaka AV would fly close to their position. Each time they waited in absolute silence, dreading to hear ‘Code: A.S’ over the comms Some of the younger, braver, stupid men were biting at the bit for it, Hansen wasn’t keen to be added to Arasaka’s graveyard by Smasher.
He’s a light sleeper. He doesn’t particularly struggle in getting to sleep, it’s just that a pin dropping can wake him
He’s quite Spartan in regards to his personal possessions – his room lacks a lot of personal touch, there’s really nothing that signifies it as Kurt’s beyond the small collection of knives and guns on display. If anything it could be mistaken as another storage room. Even the bed, while fucking massive, isn’t comfortable beyond measure, the mattress is stiff and the pillows memory foam.
He listens to the same music on repeat and has done for the past few years. I’m inflicting my personal tastes on him and saying his favs includes Biffy Clyro (x), Iron Maiden (x), and Black Sabbath (x)
Even though he could get actual real meat he still prefers the taste of synth-beef, it’s what he grew up knowing. Probably eats more pot noodles than he should, but he’s a busy man and they’re quick and filling
Because I think it’s funny and would rile Johnny up something fierce: Kurt…appreciates Silverhand’s actions back in ’23. He’s well aware Silverhand got the nuke from Militech and is a massive fucking hypocrite but hey, isn’t everyone? He wouldn’t be where he is now if Johnny didn’t get that ball a-rolling.
Barghest does have a militant structure, a very clear hierarchy of who’s in charge of who, but it’s a lot more casual? In how they speak with each other. Even with Kurt. He makes them see him as a person and not this mighty figurehead. He jokes around with recruits, might ruffle one’s hair in passing after knocking the shit outta them and giving them pointers on their footing. It’s partially real affection for the people under his command, and another part is simple manipulation – he wants to give them something real to tether their loyalty to, wants them to see him as a man, a terrifying, brutal bastard at times but nonetheless a man, and not the untouchable better-than-you titan the higher-ups at the NUSA always painted themselves as.
Speaking of brutality – it’s something I feel like the game didn’t really show of his. Even V seems quite flippant towards his threat of sending them back in body bags – Hansen’s hands were tied that particular night as he didn’t want to cause a scene in front of his guests. Bad for PR and all that. But the worst of his punishments make the corps look tame. He doesn’t immediately execute; he tortures until there’s nothing left of the person from fingernails to spirit. And then their bodies are just tossed in the disposal units. Though, public executions on his order aren’t all that uncommon either.
Not so much a headcanon as a thought: I genuinely don’t know what would have happened to Songbird had Kurt’s plans gone perfect. Maybe he might’ve let her fly away, let the little bird go on to the stars, keep his word and all that. But it’d be just as easy to make her disappear; she’s dangerous, a living weapon that’s he’s already got his use out of. A loose end who knows too much. I wouldn’t be surprised if the freedom he’d have given her was a bullet to the brain.
Knife play! Blood kink! Choking kink!! He also likes pulling hair a lot
He gets put on the back foot quite quickly if his partner takes charge, he’s used to being expected to take on that role, but he recovers and indulges quick enough
He runs hot, just an absolute radiator of a man who’d probably be great to cuddle with if NC wasn’t in a fucking desert.
He’s distressingly touch-starved and would probably sink into a proper hug like a warm bath.
While he is very much alive and well in Victoria’s canon, I do like to think that following his death certain information was transferred to NetWatch pertaining to Songbird and what Myers had her do beyond the Blackwall. Fucking her over even when he’s gone, a last little fuck you as he still somehow manages to get the last laugh.

Kakashi — the man who cut the lightning
where did chidori and raikiri come from? already guessed what I'd say? yeah — cultural code!
contents | raikiri myth · thunder god's incarnation.
Tumblr media
CH. 114
it's possible that this has already been written about before, but I just don't remember if I found out about it from tumblr or dug it up myself. anyways...
Raikiri myth
the name of the thunder god Raijin is associated with the story of a warlord Dōsetsu Tachibana, XVI century. Dōsetsu was in possession of a famous sword called 'Chidori' [ 千鳥, Thousand Birds ]. one day, while he was still a young man, he was taking shelter under a tree, as it was raining. suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck him. however, Dōsetsu used his Chidori to cut Raijin who was inside the lightning bolt, and it allowed him to survive. after this incident, he renamed his Chidori to 'Raikiri' [ 雷切, Lightning Cutter ].
what else can I say? is there at least something in Naruto that is not a war/regime criticism and not a cultural code? [ yeah, gay men ] this part of the post just doesn't need commentaries, it explains so many things...
Tumblr media
Thunder god's incarnation
a bit about Dōsetsu himself. of course, you can't just relate him to Kakashi (they aren't alike in general), but I'm interested in looking at his image of a military commander, which is close to Kakashi in some ways.
it is said that Dōsetsu has extraordinary physical strength, a sharp mind and practicing sword style named tachiuchi ni myō o etaru (the art of slashing in all-direction). the Chidori sword is forged by renowned 13th century swordsmith and its hilt design featured the Tachibana family crest. [ does it sound familiar? like the tanto of the Hatake clan? ]
for his mythical feats and personal prowess in the battlefield, Dōsetsu has become a subject of folklores and earned some nicknames, such as Hachiman incarnation [ 弓矢八幡 ], Raijin incarnation [ 摩利支天の化身 ], or God of war from Kyushu [ 九州の軍神 ]. because of his fierce character, he was nicknamed "Oni Dōsetsu" — "Dōsetsu the demon".
I'd say that this is a pretty entertaining background for Kakashi's story. personally, I perceive him as one of the closest characters to real samurai, and therefore such a number of references to history and folklore in him cannot but please me. especially the battle nicknames, in both cases, and a certain connection with the gods of thunder and war. now I'm thinking about the image of Kakashi's Susanoo, which is, well, a full armoured samurai, among other things.

Has anyone suggested Sir Crocodile from One Piece yet? I'd say he falls between subtext/coded and oops! Your character is trans! On the canonicity level scale.
Propaganda:
Him and Ivankov (a canonically trans character with the ability to change people's sex) are stated to have known each other in the past, with Ivankov knowing SOME SECRET about crocodile that he gets INCREDIBLY NERVOUS about being potentially revealed.
The organization he runs is incredibly gender-centric with everyone using either Mr. Or Ms. As part of their code name...except him, who uses Sir
Another trans character in the form of Bon Clay works with Crocodile, and never once is it implied that he views them as lesser, and considering how One Piece likes to make the crew reflect the captain...
Child Crocodile is INCREDIBLY androgynous, as shown with both the SBS/bonus doodle of the child warlords and S-Crocodile.
One Piece Live Action kinda sorta made trans crocodile canon in that series at least- at Roger's execution you can spot a woman wearing a fur coat similar to his, and we know in the manga/anime Crocodile was there. Not to mention Inaki (Luffy's actor) STRAIGHT UP says crocodile is there and everyone at the table looks like he said something he wasn't supposed to.
While I appreciate the enthusiasm, and Crocodile is actually going to be in the last "Choose Your Fighter" round, please note that submissions have been closed for quite a while now. I'm more than happy to categorize this as propaganda, though.
I personally headcanon that he's Luffy's secret birth parent because I think it would be incredibly funny. His reintroduction straight up went "Lol if you don't help us then I'm outing you" like what the hell Iva

In Which I Gush About Dusk Lanverlais
Looking over what I posted about my alts, I was sort of amused to realize that I didn't talk nearly as much about my main dude, Dusk. Probably because I'm afraid if I start, I will never stop.
Tumblr media
Because I love this silly man, very much.
He wasn't supposed to be my main guy, you know. I made him because I found it interesting the elezen look strange. Their proportions are off, compared to actual humans. They've got those necks, of course, but their shoulders are also a little too broad, their limbs a little too long, their head can sometimes look a little too small.
It was a touch offputting, if I'm honest, although I appreciated that this awkwardness went for both genders. I've said to people that I appreciate that FFXIV did 'androgynous elves' in a way that wasn't just code for 'the dudes are a little bit feminine.' When they're in armor, especially heavy armor, the gender line is pretty blurred to my eyes. And I think they have a ton of leeway to lean really hard into a gender presentation they want, or to hang out somewhere in the middle, or swing wildly from one to the other, and it always looks 'right' for them in a way that can be difficult (but not impossible!) for the other races in this game. They're just elezen, and I like it a lot.
This is me holding back on gushing about other things I've come to love about them, by the way.
In any case, like I said, I found their proportions a little offputting and strange, but that made them intriguing. Could I make an elezen I liked looking at? Turned out I could.
Tumblr media
This is the earliest picture I can find of him that I still have. I have no idea where he's at in his MSQ, but I do know this was his very first glam.
Tumblr media
Dusk comes from the same place Errol and Mercuriel do, a long lost RP setting I explored with a friend for a long time. It's why he's named 'Dusk' instead of something more elezen-y, although in FFXIV it's a nickname given to him by his father (and his twin sister, of course, is nicknamed Dawn). In that setting, he was a misplaced hippie artist at the head of a free love commune in the post apocalypse. He was a sculptor, and the eccentric local warlord was his patron, which enabled him to have his commune of would-be artists in the first place.
I wasn't sure he'd translate well to this setting (I thought this about the other two, too), but his actual personality - golden retriever given human form - didn't just translate, it fit into the way the Warrior of Light is frequently portrayed beautifully. Dusk has always had tremendous amounts of love to give to people - whatever form they want from him, platonic or otherwise - and has always made friends easily. He loves to learn about people more than anything else, but he loves seeing and doing new things almost as much.
He's more resilient than people ever expect, because he's always so soft, caring and open. It comes across as naive a lot of the time, but he's not. He just made the choice to be trusting and loving in a world that seems to often punish that, because living any other way is no way to live at all, in his eyes. He refuses to let the world make him jaded.
Tumblr media
He's brave and protective - within reason, he is ever mindful of people's boundaries - and wants to help. Always, no matter how big or small the problem he's being asked to help with is. He's stubborn about being who he is, stubborn in his optimism, stubborn about giving pieces of himself to anyone who wants it.
So yeah. Translated better than I could ever hope.
When I first came up with him, it was sort of to counterbalance Mercuriel and Errol, both extremely messy men. I wanted Dusk to be simple, to be the one who was somehow always okay, because of the love he surrounded himself with. And so he was, in the RP. Partly because I didn't RP him and only him, he was offscreen a lot.
The WoL is never offscreen. So there are cracks here and there, now. Dusk wouldn't dream of not being the Warrior of Light, if people want him to be, even though he wishes people would see him more as himself than a Heroic Hero That Heroes, and that they would more often remember he has a huge support network that helps him do what he does. And frankly, it IS a lot of a pressure and he HAS gone through an awful lot as a result.
Tumblr media
Dusk doesn't seem, on the surface, to be someone who would be a dark knight. He's so fluffy! And he's not resentful about being labeled a hero at all! And it's true, he really isn't. He might get exasperated sometimes, but nothing too crazy. But when he picked the class up, there were so many events he hadn't had a chance to unpack, to feel his feels and come to terms with them. And self-care is not a thing for him, it doesn't occur to him until people make it occur to him. Fray, to put it mildly, made it occur to him. Myste did too.
The Stormblood DRK quests felt especially suited to him ... he's not resentful, but he does carry a lot of guilt. So many people he couldn't save, in spite of his best efforts. So much hurt he wishes he could've prevented earlier, or entirely. So many people he was set against, that he might've been able to come to an understanding with if there had been time to find it, who didn't survive meeting him because of it.
Tumblr media
He's better now, and I like to think that's why he's left the class behind ... but not completely. It's like riding a bike for him, letting his strong emotions, his love for the people he wants to protect, his disregard for rules designed to stop him from doing that ... it all comes rushing back to make him back into the absurdly resilient, dangerous protector of people who cannot protect themselves.
Gunbreaker is good and all, but sometimes you need to tap into something deeper, I suppose.
Pfft, I was going to make this his backstory post, but it got away from me, talking more about what he is instead of what he's done. I think that's okay though.
Oh, another thing he is? A giant insomniac.
Tumblr media
And that, friends, is what tilted me towards wildwood over duskwight. Wildwoods look exhausted, all the time. It's perfect and I love it.
I will frequently comment that he looks like there is not a single thought passing through his skull. I've decided it's a combination of things that make this happen. First, the sleep deprivation. Second, he does frequently indulge in fogweed, partly in the hopes it will help him sleep, partly because he is self-medicating all the anxiety he refuses to acknowledge exists because again, self-care is not a thing for him a lot of the time. And third, his brain never shuts the fuck up. He doesn't have no thoughts, he has all the thoughts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's also ... startled a lot. Which I love so much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Don't let the lack of glasses fool you, he wears them all the time now. I just didn't start doing it reliably until after he finished Shadowbringers, and I'm avoiding posting Endwalker shots of him at the moment.
Okay, see what I mean? I got started, and I have rambled about this dude AT LENGTH. This isn't even close to as much as I COULD say about him, either! But I will stop here instead of actually talking about his 'lore,' and try to make things more, uh, bite-sized going forward. Thank God I found the 'read more' link option thing, am I rite?

Translation: A question about the peaceful timeline, what would happen if someone attacked a village that optimus megatron and Ymir visit, I don't know, for example, robbers or bandits, what are they intervening or something? P.S. I'd like to see people idolize Optimus as the all-being and the Atobot insignia is some kind of God symbol.
Previous Episode of the Peaceful Timeline
Let's say this scenario happens when Maria is 2 years old.
TW death. TW violence. TW Choking
So the village still sees Optimus, Megatron, Ymir, and Toddler Maria as the odd family that lives in the woods. Sure, Optimus and Megatron help out in the village from time to time, and Ymir will sometimes trade food and bring her kid for some stimulation. But they don't know much about them. Optimus said he used to be a librarian while Megatron told them he used to be a laborer. It puts some of them on edge, because they don't want to bring danger into the village, but they seem to want to mind their business for now, so they leave it alone.
Meanwhile, Megatron notices that a life of domesticity has negatively affected Optimus. It's just made him more relaxed and less alert when it comes to his surroundings. Megatron has confronted Optimus about it a few times. Optimus needs to remain in top fighting shape. Optimus retorts that nothing on this planet and in this time period would be able to harm him. Megatron is still adamant about it and proclaims that Optimus is becoming soft and losing his touch in times of peace.
Optimus deadpanned at the proclamation before gesturing to Maria, who was sitting in the former warlord's lap. The two year old had Megatron's hand in her mouth, chewing on the side of it.
"She won't even remember this," Megatron declared without batting an optic.
Ymir does hear this conversations a few times. She's gotten fairly used to how often Optimus and Megatron argue about things she wouldn't understand. Their relationship is something Ymir doesn't completely get, and she's accepted that. But she does ask Megatron why he's so insistent on Optimus continuing to fight. He doesn't want to anymore. Megatron reminds her that part of the reason, or part of it should be to protect her and Maria. Megatron wants to bring up the fact that both of them have made enemies in the past and they might have it out for them, but he doesn't want to worry Ymir too much. Megatron does ask how Optimus beat Ymir and took her away from the King in order to create an example, but Ymir writes down that Optimus showed her mercy. That was it.
But it's almost as if Megatron's proclamation had come true, because tiny remnants of the Eldian Empire are trying to make a name for themselves and rebuild their glory. Ones who defected from the peace treaty made with Marley after Optimus' interference. 20 armed men show up and attack the village just as Optimus and Ymir are heading towards the town. Optimus hears the screaming and immediately tells Ymir to go back to the cabin and get Megatron and to not look back. Ymir does as she's told and Optimus runs towards the town. He doesn't recognize they're defectives from the Eldian Empire, but he does see one of them burning down someone's home and immediately tackles him off of his horse and throws him to the ground. The remaining ones see this and five of them charge at him, but Optimus grabs the first one's spear and attacks. However, Optimus still has his moral code about killing humans so he is struggling a bit. He does manage to take out the five, but someone does manage to sneak up behind him and slam him into the ground. Before the sixth can deal a killing blow, Megatron swoops in, grabs a sword, and decapitates him with ease.
Megatron turned to Optimus before offering his hand to the Prime. Optimus hated how smug Megatron looked as he took the hand and stood up.
"Well, looks like I was right," Megatron remarked.
"You can gloat later." Optimus picked up the spear and the two got into their fighting stances.
And the villagers are just watching as Optimus and Megatron annihilate what remains. Optimus disarms while Megatron is the one to deal the killing blow. When they are done, only one remains, the one that Optimus tackled to the ground. As Megatron is ready to kill him, the fucker opens his mouth and says that the Eldian Empire will rise again even after he dies.
And before Megatron knows it, Optimus grabs the soldier by the neck and begins to choke him out. He demands to know that information. What was he talking about?! Where are the others from this empire?! The villagers watching and Megatron are absolutely stunned, because both know that Optimus is known for his patience and kindness. And instead he's choking the life out someone with a look of rage and fury that Megatron has been on the receiving end of before. He knows where this goes.
The soldier ends up confessing where there are more of them, and Optimus orders that he take them to the rest and maybe he'll live. Or Optimus can just kill him right here and now. The soldier, not wanting to die, relents. Optimus ends up dragging the soldier by his cloak and orders Megatron to stay in the village and take care of the injured.
"Prime-!"
"Do not follow me," Optimus warned ominously.
Megatron immediately backs off, and manages to catch a glimpse of Optimus' actual form sneaking around the village and into the forest while his holoform drags the soldier with them. Megatron turns to the villagers who also want answers themselves. But Megatron just focuses on helping them out.
The villagers and Megatron ultimately decide to burn the bodies and keep the weapons in the event of another attack, but Optimus still hasn't returned, and Megatron genuinely afraid to open that comm. link and hear what the hell is going on at the other end. Megatron says he'll help out with repairs tomorrow. He returns to the cabin, and Ymir asks where Optimus is, but he can only reply that he'll be back. Which only worries her even more.
It's about a week before Optimus comes back, and Megatron is still helping out with repairs in the village. They constantly ask about Optimus and/or give Megatron extra food as a show off good thanks for protecting them. One night while Megatron is remaining at the cabin in his bipedal mode, Optimus does return in his bipedal mode, clearly out of it and not paying attention. Megatron slowly approaches Optimus and puts a servo on his shoulder. Optimus looks up at Megatron and collapses against him. The former-warlord catches him and lowers him down, and he hears Optimus muttering about him breaking his vow. Megatron puts two and two together and realizes that Optimus had killed what remained of the Eldian Empire that was trying to grow again. Megatron grabs his face and tells him that he did what he had to do. That wasn't his fault. He did nothing wrong. If he didn't do his duty, they would've grown again. They would've taken Ymir away. She would have been a slave again. You were protecting her.
Optimus is still unsure, but Ymir heard the commotion outside and quickly ran out to see him. Optimus stares down at her with relief and offers his servo to her. He picks her up and cradles her close. She hugs his battle mask and whispers to her about how she was safe. He wasn't going to let anything happen to her. Like he promised.
So a few things:
-Optimus does return to the village with Megatron to help with repairs, and the village thanks him for his sacrifice and are just relieved to see that he was okay. They don't know about Optimus' actual form, and it's better this way. Optimus and Megatron couldn't risk it and have to move away from the village to find a new place called home.
-They do decide to throw a party for them and Optimus and Megatron are practically dragged along while Ymir watches with a small giggle. Optimus is practically forced to dance while the kids are crawling over Megatron and hanging onto his arms to see how strong he is. It was weird for the both of them, especially Megatron, to be accepted by the village, but it wasn't unwelcome.
-Optimus did kill what remained of the Eldian Empire, and it's something that Optimus does have to come to terms with. But it takes a while. Whenever Optimus is feeling upset, Ymir does everything in her power to comfort him, like he's done for her. Maria will sometimes notice and say "Pop sad!" and "Sad go away!"
-Optimus and Megatron start training together once again to be prepared for if a scenario like this happens again. In both human and titan form.
-But there is one thing that does bother Megatron throughout all of this:
"Optimus, Ymir told me that you didn't beat her in combat, but you instead showed her mercy, and she let you take her." Optimus didn't reply to Megatron comment as he brandished his sword against a tree.
"You told me what her titan form looked like," Megatron continued, placing his servos on his hips, "She was massive and apparently had no real way to speak. How were you even able to know what her situation was like?"
"...the king was cruel to her," Optimus explained as he stood up fully, "Every time that she missed me during that day, the king cursed her out, swore to abandon her, called her a slave. Her movements became more erratic as a result. She was afraid, and in pain, and crying out for help."
Optimus transformed his sword back into his servo. "The reason I showed her mercy that day was because I heard her cry for help, and all I wanted to do was save her."
