“Welcome for the third, and (hopefully) final time to the auditorium, beloved students of Night Raven College! Yes, as many of you expect, this assembly is in regards to our ice cream fundraiser, which has yet to take off! However, now that I’ve recovered from my horrific injuries from last month’s assembly, I say it’s time for us to start anew, and introduce our new line of flavors!
… Why are you all groaning??? Truly you’ve not grown tired of ice cream already, have you?! … No, no, it can’t be… You all just must be far too excited to carry on! Very well! I shall introduce to you the newest flavors, and then you’ll be off! Making me… Err, the school, enough Madol to fix the chandelier that was broken (again) last week!
… Hm? Why aren’t we using the past flavors? … Well… You see there was a… Ah, would you look at the time! If we don’t start now, we’ll never finish! Vargas! Bring up the first cooler!!! NOW!!!
-----------
Lemon Zestvolt- Don’t let his frown fool you, this sweet cream is actually quite sweet, with it’s mellow mix of lemon and lime that’ll make you smile! (... Though, it does take quite a while to actually get past the bitter aftertaste… And it’s surprisingly loud… And… It feels like it’s constantly judging my every move according to a standard that’s quite frankly unrealistic… And... You know what? We’re just going to move on for the sake of my self-confidence!)
Blue Berrygrotto- Despite it’s name, this treat’s name is quite deceiving! It’s not just blueberry, but in fact, a mix of eight different types of berries, all baked into a freshly warm pie and served a la Mode with a trustworthy smile~! (… Hm? What do you mean that sounds a bit much…? Ehrm, no matter!)
Even if it’s a bit… Wet, you won’t mind at all once you enjoy it’s wonderfully sophisticated taste! Ah and would you look at that! On sale for only 300 Madol! What a steal~! Make sure you stop by the cafeteria to buy a Blue Berrygrotto today!
Lion-Colored Kingsicle… Stick- … Well! There was a batch of ice cream in this cooler… And now it’s gone. We have no idea where it we- (... Oh, hold on, did we find them?) … Well! Turns out that as we speak, the original ice cream has been found tucked into obscure corners of the college where no person in their right mind would even think to look, or… On beds… (It seems the only reason they’ve been found is because they’ve begun to melt…)
… Well! We still have popsicle sticks available, so why not treat yourself with some? I’m sure at least one of you could find something to do with so many popsicle sticks!
(Warning: If you encounter this treat on your daily commute, simply back away slowly, and contact a trusted member of Night Raven College Staff to dispose of this treat. Do NOT engage. (Night Raven College is not liable for any injuries/death that may result in confrontation of this product.))
Coco’lover!- Ah, did you think this treat was simply coconut! Well, my delightful students, you are wrong! This ice cream is a delicate balance of coconut, and pistachios, a surprisingly friendly combo! … Well, that is as long as you like coconut… And pistachios…  (On second thought, this combo wasn’t the best idea now, is it?)
… Ahem! I hear it pairs quite well with baked delights, so do keep that in mind!
Mortho Energy Drink… Sicle- Tell me children, would you like to stunt your growth by drinking unhealthy shots of pure caffeine? Well, I’m here to inform you that is a foolish idea! Why drink them, when you can eat them instead with an ice cream sponsored by Mortho™ Energy Drinks! Whether it’s for a late-night study session, or for an extra kick during finals, Good ol’ Mortho here will help to keep your poor body conscious against its will!
(... Also, please buy these as soon as possible. He’s beginning to miss one of our discontinued flavors, and will melt… (Night Raven College is not liable for injuries/death that may result from consumption of this product. If Mortho™ Energy Drink-Sickle commences Self-Destruction mode, toss it as far as possible, and duck for cover. To avoid such an occurrence from happening, do NOT insult any person with fire-like hair within the vicinity. It WILL hear you, and it WILL be upset.))
Catolate Diamikan- Do you need to take a… (Wait, what was that one site called…? Ah, yes!) MagiCam-worthy photo of yourself and friends? Well, fret no longer students, as this is the treat for you! A picture of you and Catolate’s smile is sure to be a hit! And if it’s not… Well, he’s flavored like white chocolate and oranges, so either way, you’re a winner!
(... Speaking of photos… Trien, why did you not like my “selfie” that I took earlier this afternoon? … Ah, you’re right! This isn’t the time for such trivialities! I shall simply discuss it with you later then!)
Mir-Lot- A treat based on the likeness of our beloved Magical Mirror itself! Doesn’t it look absolutely stunning, in all it’s glory? Ah, even this old bird can’t help but marvel at it’s timeless beauty… This treat is a nice, deep merlot-flavor, (non-alcoholic, of course!) that I’m sure more mature audiences will enjoy…
And even if you don’t… Well, you don’t want to hurt our beloved mirror’s feelings now, do you? You should buy one anyway, just so it knows for sure it’s appreciated~!
Berry Bad Cat- This… “Cute,” little feline’s filled with many surprises, and though most of them are a hassle… This surprise is actually quite pleasant! A bold blackberry taste, sprinkled with small popping candies that seem to light a spark along your taste buds… Why, it’s surprisingly easy to grow attached to it!
(… Wait, what do you mean my tongue has turned black?! Oh heavens, get me a mirror!!! And water!!!)
Ramshackle Special- Um… Well… This ice cream had no specific flavor. It was an amalgamation of every single flavor crafted so we could save funds and resources, and it was quite awful the majority of the time, so we’d lowered the price for 100 Madol, but… Before we even made the official announcement, someone snuck into my office and took every single one… Of course, they were at least kind enough to leave the funds for it all, but…
Oh, who cares about manners?! WHICH ONE OF YOU RELEASED FIREFLIES INTO MY OFFICE?! … Well, if no one will confess to the crime, then everyone will be punished for the crime! … Later, of course!
Now, like before, we have three special options that are just a tad bit above the rest in terms of flavor and appearances, so despite how kindhearted and generous I am… We will have to charge just a bit extra for these three. Surely you all understand~! These next treats are also quite limited, so if you desire to delight in one, make sure you buy them fast! Once they’re gone, they’re gone!!!
(Well… Not completely, but if people are under the illusion that there is no second chance, then they’re be far more likely to make impulsive purchases! Oh ho ho~ Dire, you clever, dapper man, you~ … Wait, did I say that out loud?)
… Anyway! Our first premium snack!
Rhymes Rosetarts- A delightful treat of sweet cherry tarts with cream and… Oh, is that actually a hint of roses I caught?! How interesting! I’d love nothing more than to dig in, yet… For some reason, I feel that even if my manners slip just a tad, that I’d be chastised… Ah, I suppose I will simply have to consume the treat carefully, lest my suspicions are confirmed true… Which they’re not!
(Night Raven College is not responsible for injuries/death resulting from consumption of this product. Make sure to review the rulebook supplied with each purchase before unwrapping this treat. Once it is free from it’s wrapper, it will always have it’s eyes on you…)
Varbucks™ Iced Protein Coffee- Are you fan of coffee? Or perhaps something sweet, but healthy? Well this treat i-”
“OI, DIRE! WHY AM I THE ONLY STAFF WHO’S ICE CREAM WAS AWFUL?!”
“A-ah! Professor Crewel! Well, err… I’ll… Get back to you on that, yes! So why don’t you have an ice cream and calm d-OWN NO, NO, NO!!! GET OFF THE STAGE I’M SORRY CREWEL PLEASE DON’T H-YAHHH!!!”
Apple Farmier- “... Well, I suppose since the Headmaster was forced to step away for “business,” I should wrap up this assembly. The final dessert available for purchase during our school fundraiser will be the... “Apple Farmier?” (... Crowley seems to have a knack for finding such strange names…)
The Apple Farmier is described to have an almost overly-sweet aroma of ripened apples, yet when bitten into, administers a horrific shock from it’s incredibly sour taste. Those who have tried it described an almost numbing sensation on their tongue, and one such person even lost consciousness as a result of it.”
“Meow.”
“(Hm? Quite right Lucious, thank you for the reminder.) If you purchase this treat, do be aware that our esteemed institution does not hold any accountability for any harm that comes upon you. Do consume the product at your own risk… As for the lot of you who’ve decided to fall asleep during the assembly, I shall see you in detention. In case you’re wondering, yes, I see you, and I will remember if you decide to “ditch.”
Now, you are dismissed. Vargas, please make sure the students return to class while I check upon the Headmaster’s condition… (And hopefully this will be the last of these tedious assemblies…)”
-----------
Bonus
-----------
Lionel Kingsbutter- “Have you ever sat down and thought, “Hm, there seems to be something missing in my life… Something… Hard, surprisingly sweet… And yet, something with a mean bite to match it’s bark?” Well, this treat has no bark, but it does have quite a bite! Smooth, delightful cookie butter than just melts upon your tongue, and plentiful chunks of crispy cookies! They’re a bit… Spicy… But strangely... Delicious! (... Water… I need water...! … Thank you, Trien.)
And if that’s not enough, why, just look at it’s adorable little ears, and i-YEOWCH!!! DID IT JUST BITE ME?! IT’S FROZEN CREAM, HOW DID IT DO THAT?! BAD KITTY, BAD KITTY! WHERE’S THE TRASH C-AAAAH IT’S LATCHED ONTO MY CLAWS!!! SOMEBODY, ANYBODY GET IT OFF!!! GYAAAAAAAH!!!”

A small warmup side project.
Slumber Rose is ready for that Garden of Rose’s pajama party sleepover!
I was originally going to just do my Rose’s PJs at first but then I saw Miki-chan’s page with some outfit designs for her Ianthe and figured I’d try the same. This is only the first three but I have a full page with a couple of looks for my Rose including her Time Skip/ V4 look for Chels’ AU. The rest will be finished and shared accordingly.
In the meantime, I hope you guys like it. I’ve also made this post to share some more info on my Rose. Provide more Rosey Tips on what she’s like and such so keep reading if you’d like to learn more about Rosaline Fox.
Tumblr media
SLUMBER ROSE
As previously mentioned; in spite of her Faunus status, Rose’s favourite animal are sheep. She owns a large collection of stuffed sheep plushies that decorated her bed and bedroom including one giant sheep-shaped pillow pet that Rose had owned since she was a little girl.
The name of Rose's sheep pillow pet is Lambchop.
Rose doesn't sleep without Lambchop; preferring it over a regular pillow since, according to Rose, Lambchop's fluffy fleece is softer than a thousand pillows.
Despite owning it since she was a kit, Rose has taken great care of Lambchop over the years. Lambchop was the first present Rose's beloved father: Robyn Fox gave to her and she's cherished it ever since so the pillow pet has sentimental value. Lambchop is big enough for at least 8 heads to rest on its fluffy fleece; however Rose doesn't just let anyone share Lambchop. Only those she genuinely likes or trusts.
Lambchop has a secret pouch underneath the fur by its neck that's usually covered by a rose collar. In her younger years back in Mistral, Rose and Oscar would stash snacks inside Lambchop during sleepovers. They did it so that Mama Dorothy and Marion wouldn't be suspicious of their kids eating sweets after bedtime.
Eventually the two friends had to drop this charade after all the left over snacks ultimately attracted ants that got caught in the pillow pet’s fleece. Not only did the Rose and Oscar get in big trouble with their mothers for breaking the rules but till this day, Rose can still remember the intense itching left on her skin after sleeping on a pillow pet full of them. Fortunately Oscar was spared of this itchy torture but as for Rose; she never did this again. This also explain why Rose doesn't allow anyone eating or drinking near Lambchop. She definitely learnt her lesson as a kid.
Other than Lambchop, Rose also has a habit of sleeping with socks. She likes her toes to be nice and warm when resting and thus hates sleeping barefoot.
Rose's favourite childhood bedtime story and fairy tale is titled ‘The Farmer and the Moon’. It was basically an ole Mistralian folklore that told the love story of a heavenly warrior goddess with silver eyes as striking as the moon who fell in love with a mortal farmer after she fell from the sky during a tremendous battle that shook the heavens. The farmer found the Warrior near death near a river on the outskirts of his farmland and quickly rushed her back to his home. When the Warrior finally regained consciousness, the farmer, in relief, asked for her name. However the Warrior said she had no name so the farmer decided to name her ‘Moon’ after her beautiful eyes. The Farmer and the Moon is a favourite tale that Rose shares in common with Oscar.
Tumblr media
SUMMER ROSE
During the summer, Rose wears her hair short. Since it's a normal characteristic of foxes to grow out their fur coats in preparation for the winter climate only to shed out all that fur by summer season, this is a similar trait that Rose shares with her animal counterpart as part of her Faunus quirks.
Rose is one of those girls who has no problem growing their hair out. As a matter of fact, Rose's hair generally tends to grow as long as she is tall (and fluffy too)  and as a kid, her hair would practically be trailing on the ground by winter time so her mother: Marion Fox, would often style and braid her hair for that seasonal occasion.
Although Rose generally takes care of her own hair, she often goes to her mother to style her hair for special occasions. It is one of the activities the two bonded over as Rose grew up and it's a mother-daughter tradition they’ve maintained.
So generally by Spring time, Rose cuts her hair shorter as a means of coping with the incoming warmer weather and the fact that most of her ‘winter roots’ tends to 'shed' out by the summer. After Summer, she lets it grow back out so its at its full gorgeous length by winter.
Of all the seasons, Summer is Rose’s favourite despite being a Winter baby.
Rose loves warm weather and it’s one of the things she misses most about Mistral after moving to Solitas.
In the summer heat, while some folks love watermelon, Rose prefers coconuts. Good authentic coconut water straight from the husk is Rose's favourite thing to drink during the summer as well as eating the delicious coconut jelly.
Although not much of a glutton for sweets, Rose does enjoy a good snow cone.
Rose’s birthmark is on her inner left thigh.
Tumblr media
 WINTER ROSE
Rose is a Sagittarius-born and her birthday is December 21st; the day of the winter solstice.
Despite being a Winter-baby, admittedly winter is Rose’s least favourite season purely because Rose isn’t a fan of cold weather. It’s one of the things she dislikes about living in Solitas despite being a citizen for eight years. Thankfully the weather up in Atlas Kingdom isn’t as bad as it was for Rose living down in the Barracks of Mantle for the first few years. She doesn’t mind the cold if it’s good enough to go out and play in the snow. But when it drops to the point of unbearably cold, Rose can’t stand it.
There are only two things that Rose genuinely likes about the Winter season. One is her birthday which falls just four days before Christmas which meant Rose got double the presents each year. Secondly, the cute outfits Rose gets to rock for the Christmas season. Just cause she’s turning into a popsicle doesn’t mean she can’t look cute while doing it, right?
Rose’s favourite designer is Poppy Merlin---a renowned Atlesian designer specialized in producing dust-infused clothing lines inclusive of huntsmen gear catered to the huntsmen that is adaptable to changes in weather.
Rose isn’t much of  a fan of sweets. When she was a kid, she loved sweets but eventually grew out of it; by the time she was a teenager especially after ‘the incident’ with Lambchop. She prefers snacking on salty snacks such as potato chips, vegetable crackers, popcorn, etc.
There is one kind of sweet that Rose will eat and that’s anything made of gelatine. Gummy bears, pudding pops, jello---Rose has a belly for jelly. When she was a kid she would eat jelly snacks a lot and it’s the one sweet she hasn’t outgrown even with the incident.
Rose’s favourite kind of cake is carrot (and she always insists that that’s her birthday cake every year).
Rose prefers frozen yogurt over ice-cream.
Rose is allergic to strawberries.
Tumblr media
In case you’re wondering:
Poppy Merlin is a little nod back to an old Pinehead headcanon of mine where Oscar had a fairy godmother kind of character who was an Atlesian fashion designer specialized in dust-infused fabrics. Despite that being a thing one that can do with dust, we haven’t seen anyone else utilize this with dust since Cinder in V2. I know that World of Remnant mentioned that it’s an ancient practice. Nonetheless, if dust is capable of being woven into fabrics then why haven’t the huntsmen made more use of this as part of the world-building of RWBY  How come there aren’t more huntsmen walking around with gear infused with dust that can change to adapt to the weather---like for example, fire dust for colder climates so that the huntsmen wouldn’t need to use their aura to survive the cold since their gear strengthened by dust aids with that. It sucks we don’t have more of this in RWBY. But, that’s why AUs with fanfics and fanart exist, am I right?
@lookyeekiti, @che1sea-xiao-long, @miki-13, @nykamito-x, @cloudburst-paint-water, @beaver-sen What do you guys think?
Also what are some of your Roses’ quirks? And what would your Roses wear to the beach or during the winter?

As someone who's obsessively colored and highlighted her hair since, er, elementary school (don't judge), I know a thing or two about the collateral damage the habit can incur on one's bank account. Over the years, I've spent anywhere between $50 and $700 on a head of blonde highlights. (Again, don't judge—I've lived all over, from Minnesota to Wisconsin to San Francisco to L.A.) I know from firsthand experience, in the context of hair, there's nothing worse than fabulous fresh color falling from grace real quick thanks to a botched shampoo job. Adding things like shower filters and clarifying elixirs to your routine can definitely lend a helping hand, but the specific shampoo formulas you use will ultimately make the difference between vibrant, long-lasting color post–salon visit and a job that quickly fades, becoming brassy and dull. Whether you're dyeing your own hair or spending hundreds of dollars at the salon, maintaining your desired shade is of utmost importance (at least to us!), so in an effort to get the most bang for our buck, we're rounding up the 12 best shampoos for color-treated hair. Whether your hair is auburn or silver, these reliable formulas totally have your back. A top pick-me-up for dull silver, white, or even blonde hair, this shampoo is expertly designed with coconut extracts to not only brighten fading color but also soften and smooth thick and coarser textures specifically.  Purple shampoos are often prescribed for silver or white hair, but what no one seems to tell you is that said potions can easily leave behind a dreary purple aftertaste that (while a bit high-fashion) isn't always the desired outcome. For pure, glossy strands that stay ssilver and white, we recommend this shampoo from the hair masters at Oribe. It's fortified with the brand's signature complex of watermelon, lychee, and edelweiss to combat oxidative stress, blue and silver pigments to stave off brassiness, and blends of hydrolyzed keratin and European silver fir to maintain strength and hydration. Yes, we realize this strand-transforming shampoo from Davines says Chocolate, but's it's created for deep, dark shades of brunette and raven-black strands alike. Davines is one of our all-time favorite hair brands and one we don't feel gets enough time in the limelight for how high-quality its products are. With pristine skill, this shampoo maintains and enhances the tone of color-treated hair. Featuring an all-star roster of color-maintaining benefactors like hydrating oils and botanicals, this earthy-scented shampoo works to heighten the cool, deep tones found in gorgeous black strands while simultaneously reducing the unwanted appearance of redness or brassiness. Though the brand also has variations of this shampoo to either lighten or deepen brunette strands (pick your poison), we love this affordable cult-favorite formula for its ability to keep brown shades intact and lustrous in between color appointments. This lightweight cleansing shampoo from DPHue deep-cleans color-treated brunette hair while utilizing strategic deep blue pigments to neutralize orange and red tones. Plus it's enriched with silk proteins and hibiscus flower to capitalize on health and shine. Due to the degree of lightness, blonde and silver hair are perhaps the most susceptible for unwanted color changes, and color that gets worse and worse between touch-ups is often inevitable. That said, I can personally attest that this blonde elixir from Joico actually betters my color every time I use it, and even though I have fine hair, thicker-haired reviewers on Ulta seem to agree. This shampoo for color-treated hair is sulfate-free and helps slough dirt, oil, and brass in one quick lather. Plus, thanks to the brand's blend of Polynesian and Tahitian tamanu and monoi oils, frizziness is kept at bay, and shine is heightened for full-on shimmer. Different from the brand's well-loved toning shampoo (which is bright purple and smells like a grape Popsicle), this daily formulation is meant to keep blonde hair blonde sans any intense toning. (There's a time and place for that—just not every day!) Rich, creamy, and hydrating, its formula maintains blonde luster in between toning sessions and prevents unwanted color-stripping or dulling. Technically, this color-preserving shampoo isn't just for redheads. But per our hours of redhead-minded shampoo research, this is one of the most beloved formulas for preserving the shade. It's sulfate-free to keep your strands and scalp healthy, and it also utilizes other exclusive ingredients like the brand's RCT protein complex to treat the root, core, and tip of the hair for optimal radiance. Strategically concentrated with color-locking oils to seal in red hair color, this shampoo from industry fave Pureology is one to add to your shopping list straight away. It enhances the hair's natural lipid barrier to prevent unwanted bleed and fade, and it also smells like heaven in a bottle thanks to bergamot, black currant, mandarin, rose, basil, and musk. Regardless of your chosen color (whether you're a bold shade of purple or Rainbow Brite–esque like Cardi B), this color-reflecting shampoo from Kérastase is here for you. It's an awesome choice for all hair types and is expertly equipped with nourishing things color-treated strands crave like yuzu and lychee to prevent mineralization (aka tinged color), rice bran oil for protective hydration, zinc gluconate to preserve pigment, and vitamin E and UV filters. To make any color look glossy, hydrated, and overall healthy AF, we rely on this luscious shampoo for color-treated hair from Shu Uemura. Despite the fact that it's free of sulfates (key for great color), you'll still get a satisfying lather, and its refining lipids smartly mirror the hair's natural protective barrier to help insulate your color from external troublemakers. Reading Time
I advocate you to read JB & RENÉE MACATULAD blog. Due to the fact that his blog contain more information, Specific description than I do. They mostly focus in recommending a food for the beginner/Foreigner who never taste Filipino food. Please read their blog below or visit their site wherein i post it below. Thank you
One reason, as food writer Joanne Boston speculated, is that people need to get over the potential “ick” factor that accompanies certain Filipino dishes. She’s right. It’s second nature to us Filipinos (and Asians in general) to eat things like offal and animal heads but we can’t expect the same from Westerners. Not everyone is like Andrew Zimmern. Apart from this French guy I went to school with, I’ve never seen anyone devour balut (duck embryo) with as much gusto as Andrew once did on TV. It was glorious.
Filipino food may not be as pretty as other cuisines like Japanese or Korean, but what we lack in presentation we more than make up for in flavor. Bottom line, our food is damn tasty. If you can get past that “ick” factor, then you’ll realize what Andrew did three years ago — Filipino cuisine is delicious.
Here are 14 things that any first-time visitor to the Philippines should try.
1. Tapsilog
A beloved comfort dish, the way we Filipinos feel about tapsilog can probably be compared to how Malaysians feel about nasi lemak. Personally, it’s a strong contender for my last meal.
Tapsilog is a portmanteau word for tapa (cured beef) + sinangag (garlic fried rice) + itlog. It’s the most popular type of Filipino “silog” breakfast made up of garlic fried rice, egg, and a protein. Other popular “silog” breakfats include longsilog (longganisa – Filipino sausage), tocilog (tocino – pork fatback), and bangsilog (bangus – milkfish), just to name a few.
2. Chicken Inasal
Inasal refers to chicken marinated in a mixture of lime, pepper, vinegar, and annato then grilled over hot coals while being basted with the marinade. Served with rice, vinegar, soy sauce, chili peppers, and calamansi(calamondin), chicken inasal is a regional dish from the Western Visayas region that’s become hugely popular throughout the Philippines.
Popular inasal restaurants in Manila include Bacolod Chicken Inasal, JT’s Manukan Grille, Jay-J’s Inasal, and Mang Inasal. Our personal favorite is a little known place called Bacolod Chicken Parilla tucked away in a residential neighborhood in Quezon City.
3. Pork Sisig
The most iconic Filipino bar chow dish, sisig is made from chopped pig’s face, ears, and a generous amount of chicken liver. It’s usually seasoned with calamansi (calamondin) and chili peppers and is served sizzling on a cast iron plate. Originating from the Philippines’ (unofficial) culinary capital of Pampanga, it’s a hugely popular dish ubiquitous at bars and Filipino restaurants throughout the country. Andrew Zimmern once called it “one of his favorite dishes period”.
4. Pancit Bihon Guisado
Pancit Bihon Guisado is a Filipino-Chinese dish made with sauteed rice noodles, meat, and vegetables. It’s a staple second only to rice. There are several types of pancit, but this is one of the most common and can be found in many Filipino eateries.
5. Crispy Pata
Crispy pata consists of deep-fried pig trotters or knuckles served with a soy-vinegar dip. If you’re a fan of lechon (roast pig), then you’ll love this. Livestock’s crispy pata is so tender that they use a popsicle stick to cut it up. The meat practically melts in your mouth.
6. Chicharon Bulaklak
Another popular bar chow dish, chicharon bulaklak literally means “flower chicharon” and is made from pig messentery. The messentery is the thin, web-like structure that supports the small intestine. When the mesentery is detached, it forms a frill or ruffled-like ornament resembling a flower, hence the name of the dish.
Deep-fried and crisp with a nice chewy texture, it’s great dipped in vinegar and washed down with swigs of ice cold beer. Just don’t eat too much of it if you care about your heart. 😉
7. Sinigang
Sinigang is a soup or stew characterized by its sour and savory flavors. It’s traditionally tamarind-based and can be made with fish, pork, beef, shrimp, or chicken as its protein. Many Filipinos grew up eating sinigang so it’s a comforting dish for most. It’s similar to Malaysian singgang or Thai tom yum.
8. Kare-Kare
Kare-kare is a stew commonly made with oxtail, tripe, pork hocks, and vegetables. The stew is flavored with ground roasted peanuts or peanut butter, onions, and garlic before being colored with annatto and thickened with toasted or plain ground rice. It’s traditionally cooked and served in a clay pot called a palayok with a side of bagoong or fermented shrimp paste.
9. Puto at Dinuguan
Dinuguan means “to be stewed with blood” and refers to a savory stew made with pork and/or pork offal — typically lungs, kidneys, intestines, ears, heart, and snout. It’s simmered in a rich, dark gravy of pig’s blood, garlic, chili, and vinegar and usually served with a side of puto or Filipino rice cakes.
Restaurants known for serving good dinuguan in Manila include Cafe Juanita, Kanin Club, and Lydia’s Lechon.
10. Adobo
Arguably the most iconic and well-known dish in Filipino cuisine. From the Spanish word adobar meaning “to marinate”, adobo is a popular dish made with chicken or pork marinated in vinegar, soy sauce, black peppercorn, garlic, and bay leaf. Adobo is so popular that many consider it to be the unofficial national dish of the Philippines.
Good restaurants to try adobo in Manila include Cafe Adriatico, Adobo Connection, Gerry’s Grill, and Aristocrat.
11. Balut
If adobo is the most famous Filipino dish, then balut has got to be the most infamous. A popular street food, balut is a developing duck embryo that’s boiled and eaten in its shell. It’s off-putting even for many Filipinos so I don’t blame you for not wanting to try it. 😆 Personally, I think it’s delicious.
12. Bibingka
Bibingka is a type of rice cake traditionally made from galapong (milled glutinous rice), coconut milk, margarine, and sugar. A time-consuming dish to make, the mixture is poured into a clay pot lined with pre-cut banana leaves. The clay pot is then placed between the layers of a special clay oven that’s lit with charcoals placed below and above the pot for even cooking. Bibingka is especially popular during the Christmas season.
13. Sans Rival
Sans rival is a Filipino dessert cake made with layers of buttercream, meringue, and chopped cashews. A rich, supremely decadent dessert, its name comes from the French phrase meaning “without rival”.
Estrel’s and Cafe Mary Grace are known to serve some of the best sans rival in Manila.

If you are one of those people who can’t cook or wants an easy way to make dog treats at home without breaking the bank and spending a ton of time doing so, then this is the blog post for you. These are 14 dog treats for people who can’t cook. I have tried many of these and my dog enjoyed them right to the last drop. If you try some, let us know which end up being your favorites.
We selected these recipes for ease, presentation, and cost effectiveness without sacrificing any quality in the ingredients for our beloved dogs.
Merrick Hero’s Banquet Surprise
My dog is my hero, and if you feel the same way about your dog, then get ready for the warm fuzzies. Two times a month for a snack, I feed my dog this recipe that I crafted myself. Okay, using two products from Merrick, but still. I feed this to our dog for holiday meals, too:
Ingredients: You can go out and purchase deboned beef, beef broth, turkey broth, green beans, and carrots and mix all that up or you can help K9s for Warriors by purchasing Merrick Backcountry Hero’s Banquet canned food. It’s grain free with sourced farm fresh ingredients in the USA.
I drop a half a can into a microwave safe bowl, heat it and let our dog go to town but not before adding the surprise ingredient: Merrick Backcountry Salmon Recipe Freeze Dried Meal Mixerwith real salmon on top!
Here’s the finished product:
For our dog, this is a yummy diversion from his regular food, and you can even use either of these products as a kibble topper. Yum!
P.S. How stinking cute is this metallic blueberry dog food bowl? We have a few bowls we rotate with, and this is one of them:
Frozen Pupsicles
Fill a popsicle mold with canned dog food, put a dog biscuit in it, freeze, and there you have it: A frozen popsicle.
—or—
Take a cup of low-sodium chicken broth, ½ cup of water and about 2 ounces chopped up chicken meat. Mix it all up in a mixing bowl. Pour into ice cube trays or popsicle molds, then freeze and serve.

Go Bananas with Yonanas
Yonanas Frozen Healthy Dessert Maker combines frozen bananas and any additional fruit (or chocolate for the humans) through it’s core and churns out an oh-so-good non-dairy treat that people can share with dogs. Rather than tell you, here’s our video demonstration from our first attempt. Bananas are okay in moderation, since they are a fruit with a high sugar content.

Blueberries are a wonderful antioxidant, and we all want our dogs to have strong cells and long lives, right? Blueberries also provide vitamins C, E, A and B complex. The Blueberry Sorbet or Blueberry Yonanas recipe are instant treats that can be made with one to two ingredients!
Pumpkin Smunchies
The Honest Kitchen makes a line of dehydrated dog foods that you simply add water to for a gourmet meal. We know because we have been feeding The Honest Kitchen for years. Well, you can also add some variety in proteins to your dog’s diet with the occasional batch of Pumpkin Smunchies!

Hint: These make great dog party and dog get together treats.
Roasted Chicken Poppables
This is a Carol concoction. We feed Dr. Harvey’s veg-to-bowl mixture with a source of protein for Dexter a few times a week. I had the idea to use roasted chicken which was leftover from a grocery store rotisserie chicken and make Dexter this fun snack.
You’ll need:
1-1/2 to 2 cups rotisserie or cooked chicken (you can use beef)
½ cup fat-free or low-fat yogurt with no artificial sweetners
6 scoops of Dr. Harvey’s Veg-To-Bowl mixture ( prepared with warm water, let set 10 minutes)
1 tablespoon olive oil
The yogurt binds everything, the veg-to-bowl is finely chopped so my dog eats the veggies, and olive oil is good for the coat.
Stir the ingredients, drop the mixture into an ice cube mold, freeze, and serve.
Yogurt Pupsicles
Combine 32 ounces of fat-free or low-fat yogurt that is not artificially sweetened with 2 to 3 tablespoons of peanut butter (again read ingredients to ensure no Xylitol), a tablespoon of honey, and a large banana. Drop all of that into a blender, mix, pour into molds, and freeze. Thanks to the folks at Today’s Mama, we discovered that people can share this yummy snack!
Coconut Drops with Coconut Garnish
Soften coconut oil, roll into small drops, freeze. I give my dog Nutiva Organic Coconut Oil as a food topper a few times a week. This is a bonus way to serve it. I top with one of the Dr. Harvey’s Coconut Smiles, and I even indulge, too!
You can store them in an airtight container since coconut oil hardens in cooler temperatires.
Dehydrated Treats
Perhaps some of the easiest doggie treat recipes of all, again our pal, Jodi at Kol’s Notes hits a homerun with these 8 dehydrator recipes. We are talking easy, meat, dehydrator, set it, let it work magic, serve to Fido. Boom, just like that.
