Very Late Simblr Gratitude Day

I was barely active this past Gratitude Day because of an evil stomach bug and my wisdom teeth extraction, so my apologies to my beloved mutuals and everyone who took some time to give me a heads up that day. I'll be answering you little by little, but I wanted to make this post first.

I felt welcome since day one and honestly? That was super overwhelming (I'm shyyy) because I didn't know how to react to that level of kindness, but little by little I started to open up. The way people support each other made me think "yeah, I want to do that too!" and make people feel as comfortable as the community did with me. I see it as a little, unconscious positivity chain that I value very much.

I cannot stress enough how happy I am in this chaotic simblr community, mainly because it does work and feels like a real one. Not even in my personal social media I've seen these levels of interaction, support and fun between people. Sure, there are ups and downs, but all and all I still think this is my happy place and it's all because of you: The talent, creativity, chaos, fun, humor and cooperation is incomparable to me. That's why I don't leave.

I know I haven't been very active this past year and a half, but I hope that'll change soon. Since it's also Christmas Eve in this side of the globe, I wish you all have some nice and peaceful holidays.

Currently watching: Apple TV - Silo & The Morning Wars. Amazon Prime - Power. I’m also re-watching The X-Files for the five-or-something-hundredth time. I love Mulder and Scully, but it also reminds of a happy time when I was younger and gives me good feels. 🤗

Currently reading: Still Alice by Lisa Genova and re-reading A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking. Sometimes I have two books on the go if one has a heavier subject matter than the other. 

Current obsession: lately I’ve been making these healthy oat and blueberry muffins. They are so easy to make and I’m trying to perfect them and also trying not to get sick of them so only making them every fortnight. 😋

Last tv show: The Flight Attendant! Me and @luridsims just started watching season 2 and it’s SO GOOD!!

Currently reading: uuuu I don’t think anyone wants to know but I’m reading a very gory, crime fiction novel called The Death Sculptor by Chris Carter. It’s one of a series of books with the same detective and I have a slight addiction to them! But yeah, do not recommend if you don’t like gore because they are GRIM 🙃

Current obsession/hyperfixation: honestly I have no idea bc ✨depression✨ but I feel like if it’s anything then it’s swimming! I’m taking @luridsims open water swimming tomorrow in our local lake and I am SO EXCITED!

10. How would you describe the way you play the sims?

So ... (this may sound really boring) but I really do love being able to tick off some goals and/or events for my sims.

I am currently playing the Whimsy Expanded Legacy Challenge which has a very extensive list of goals and/or events which you have to complete - but it's also up to you if you don't get to complete them. It will just affect the story of the next generation - which I love.

In saying that, I completely love it when I do have plans for my sims but the game would throw in random events and/or whims for my sims which will completely throw me out of the loop. And I love it when my sims autonomously do something and lately it's when I'm too busy explaining or doing something and they'd just do a random thing in the background. I think simple things like these makes my LPs fun and enjoyable to watch (which is something I've only recently started making in my channel).

19. What is your favorite sim age?

My favourite sim age - originally I was only going to say Young Adult.

But whilst I was typing my answer, I think I'm going to change it and say Teens and Young Adult.

I know teens don't really have a wide range of things that you can do but in previous legacy challenges I've attempted - I try to make them a bit more interesting. So I'd get them to start a skill that can be helpful with their career when they turn into a Young Adult. And I've downloaded a few mods which has activities that the teens in my game can do.

That's why I am so excited for the new upcoming pack!

And Young Adult - because I tend to make my sims do a lot when they're young adult. I feel like I primarily focus on them when they turn into a young adult - university, career, upskilling, relationships, etc. And I would start a new game with a young adult in mind for most of the time.

31. Tag & give a shoutout to a simblr you really enjoy seeing posts from.

This would have to be @cliosimming.

Every time I open my simblr, I find it refreshing to see posts of their gameplay. And it really makes me inspired to try and make posts of my gameplay again (which I used to do last year).

I have tried doing this again - basically four shots of my LP to serve as a recap here in my simblr.

🐰- do you believe in soul mates?

I don’t know. On one hand I met this dude when I was 18 and I am still very happily married to him 21 and a half years later. On the other hand, I don’t think that was “fated” or “meant to be” or anything. I just got really really lucky.

🍦- what scented candle is your favorite?

I don’t know, maybe the ones that smell like cookies or other baked goods/holiday foods.

🌧️- favorite thing to do on rainy days?

Well, I guess it’s the same as my favorite thing to do on any days since the plague - play Sims or Elder Scrolls Online, chill on the internet, watch Korean dramas with the spousal person. :)

Hi Clio! Thank you for this sweet ask...I think my favorite sim from my decades challenge is Louise Smyth … she’s such a sweetie and I just adore her. Five facts about Louise....

1. Louise is a twin! Her and her twin sister, Elsie Smyth, were born in 1905. 

2. Both Louise and Elsie are blonde, despite her father (Mr. James Smyth Sr.) having brown hair and her mother (Mrs. Lilith Smyth, nee Pleasant) having red hair. All the other first generation Smyth children were ginger, but Elsie is a ‘cheese-head’ (EA yellow hair) and Louise is a platinum blonde. Sims genetics, you are a mystery...

3. As a young woman, Louise worked as a dancer. This was how she met Mr. Emerson Helm, who would later become her husband. Mr. Helm’s line of work kept them comfortable and afforded them all the luxury they required in the early years of their marriage, but she was never allowed to ask too many questions or snoop on his attic in the office...
