Os Mutantes - Panis Et Circensis & Bat Macumba (Complete French TV-1969)

皆さんブラジルのロックは好きですか。答えがはいなら、オス・ムタンテスを知らずにはいられませんよ。このバンドは、1960年代のビートルズマニアから直接影響を受け、エレキギターで初めてブラジルでロックを作り始めた、もはやパイオニアと行っても良いでしょう。サンパウロ出身の、とても若かった３人の友達が作り上げたこのバンド、大人もその作詞作曲のクオリティの高さに絶賛。瞬く間に人気を勝ち取り、ブラジリアンロックの代表となりました。

いつもMVやフルアルバムの動画をあげていますが、今回はライブの動画です。こちらは、フランスのテレビに出演したときの様子ですが、ボーカリストのヒタ・リーさんは美人ですね。その美しさと才能で世界のトップに立ったということも、言うまでもないでしょう。天才３人組のこの素晴らしいバンド、ブラジルだけでなく世界に愛され、今でも若い世代が発見すると、ブラジルという国の歴史に誇りを持つことでしょう。

ヒタ・リーは、1972年に他のメンバーからバンドから追放されました。それ以来、バンドは何年間か続きましたが、それまでの人気は博せなかったようです。ヒタ・リーのソロ活動については、これからもたくさん触れたいと思いますので、楽しみにしていてください。

Baden Powell, Vinicius de Moraes - Os Afro Sambas (1966)

この1966年のバーデン・パウエルとヴィニシウス・デ・モラエスの共同作品は、当時のMPBに大きな革命をもたらせた作品と言える。それは、サンバにアフリカ音楽の要素を初めて加えた発想だったからだ。

両方の作曲家たちは、ブラジル北東部に位置するバイーア州を訪れて触れたアフリカ系宗教のカンドンブレやウンバンダの儀式から、多くのインスピレーションを受け、この作品を手掛けたと言う。

バイーア州は、本来アフリカ系ブラジル人が最も多く在住する、ブラジルでのアフリカ文化の拠点ともいえるから、とても多くの芸術作品が生まれる聖地で、ブラジルの多くの大物アーティストも、バイーア出身者が多い。このブログでは、これからも、その地の豊富な音楽の数々を紹介していきたいと思います。
