Makoto wasn’t sure how long he had been up for. He was staring at the papers scattered in his desk. Everything was jumbled together, the words were no longer making sense. He groaned banging his head on the desk.

Clark poked his head in, shaking his head seeing his boyfriend in disarray. He scooped Makoto in his arms and carried him to the bed.

Makoto almost passed right out when his body hit the soft sheets. Eyes half open he watched Clark disappear into the bathroom.

He closed his eyes and listen to Clark shuffling around in the bathroom.

Makoto then felt Clark get into bed, and an arm wrapping around him. He cuddled up to Clark, laying his head on his chest.

“Hmm…tomorrow I-“

“Shhh.” Clark rubbed his back, “sleep now. Work tomorrow.”

Yet more hospital staff!

Actually, I think I'm done making side characters now. I'm extremely happy with how all of them turned out, and as usually happens with me, I'm sure a few of them will be promoted from supporting cast to something a bit more important.

Anyway...

Dr. Lauren Scully, endocrinologist - She puts up with being called "Agent Scully" (but only from people she likes). She's a diabetes specialist.

Gabriel Duke, Ph.D., paediatric psychologist - He's most noted for being fluent in sign language and having an older brother who's a famous athlete.

Dr. Daniel (Dae-Won) Kim, gastroenterologist - He looks like he can't take a joke, but he's actually quite funny once people get to know him. He's most known for aging well, and for his "mail-order husband". in actuality, Daniel met his (much younger!) husband on an online dating platform. Their engagement was very short, and they eloped, after which they had a lengthy long-distance relationship while Seung-Ri finished his residency. After that, Seung-Ri joined Daniel in Willow Creek and came to work at the hospital.

Dr. Seung-Ri Park, paediatrician - Seung-Ri sometimes goes by his English name, Henry, but actually prefers his Korean name. He is best known for his May-September relationship with fellow physician Daniel Kim, and for constantly being asked by patients' families, "Are you sure you're old enough to be a doctor?" He loves being Daniel's "trophy husband" and getting mistaken for a K-pop idol everywhere they go. Seung-Ri loves kids and is trying to convince Daniel they should adopt one.

Sunday Adebayo, registered dietitian and nutrition consultant - Sunday and his team work directly with patients across various departments. Their job is to help patients develop food plans that align with their treatments, and to help them maintain good health following their diagnosis. Sunday also works with patients who have eating disorders and who are chronically ill. He's most noted for being the hospital's most talented singer, and he can often be heard singing in the corridors.

Ali Ibrahim, chief in-house legal counsel - As the hospital's primary lawyer, Ali's job is to advise administrators and staff on various legal and ethics issues related to service delivery and patient care. Ali and his small in-house legal team also represent the hospital in the event any member of staff (or the hospital itself) is involved in any sort of legal proceeding. He is the husband of paediatric nursing supervisor Laila Alhadi.

Ivy Clarke, Manager of Patient Experience - Ivy is essentially the hospital's PR lady. She and her team field complaints from patients and their families, and do their best to settle any issues before they find their way to Ali's office. Ivy is also the hospital's spokesperson, delivering official statements any time one may be required by the media. She's best known for being the plant lady; her office looks a bit like a jungle.

1479: Death of Alexander who founded the Orthodox monastery of Oshevensk, experienced miracles, and was a notable spiritual counselor.

1529: At the Second Diet of Speyer, the term “Protestant” is first applied to participants of the Reformation. The term was taken from the Protestatio, a statement by the reformers challenging the imperial stance on religion.

1558: Death of Johannes Bugenhagen, a leading Lutheran reformer, a professor at the University of Wittenberg, and the pastor of the city church there. Bugenhagen had helped Luther with his German Bible translation as well as translating the Bible into Low German himself.

She passed close enough to the witness as he continued to spew his story, picking up bits and pieces from what he said in hushed intonation to Detective Salinas. 

“I was just… I was on my monthly hike through the Ebbot Mountain range… and immediately just… you know, marker fifteen. Something wasn't right.” 

Why on a hiking trail? He'd wanted someone to find it. 

Once she'd snuck past the detectives and Forensics team she let out a brief sigh, turning on her heels as the forest canopy engulfed her and muffled her breathing. 

She sucked in a long sigh as she pulled her cellphone out, holding it up above her head to check for a signal. Two bars… should be enough! 

A pained smile graced her face as she scrolled through her contacts and hit send. 

She hoped it wasn't too early… 

“Mm… Good morning,” croaked the warm voice from the other line. Her pained smile cracked into a brilliant grin and she glanced over her shoulder. 

“Good morning my Prince!” she whispered, a little joke about his last name. Soon to be her last name. A blissful glisten in her eyes at the idea. 

A soft, gentle chuckle carried itself through the static and her heart fluttered. She could listen to that laugh forever… 

“Hmm… if I recall correctly… shouldn't you be working? Or… have they already taken the body away?” She nodded slowly and her smile flickered at the stark reminder. 

“They're about to… I wanted to see what you thought.”

“You've gotta stop telling me this stuff, honey, you'll get us in trouble,” he teased. Frisk giggled quietly and shook her head. 

“But, babyyyy, you're my biggest helper! The suspect—” He hummed his intrigue at her leading question and she hummed back, “— Super meticulous. Cleaned up her body and then put makeup on her,” she explained. Ibrahim gave a knowing grunt. 

“Look into Carol Bundy and Clark,” he mentioned and she groaned at the reminder of that specific case. 

“Yes, the murder couple who killed those runaway girls… put makeup on a severed head and… yeah. This is more in line with the other Bundy. Bite marks. Everywhere. And they're monster bites. Have to be.” Ibrahim tisked at the idea and she knew without him having to say anything he had the first thought she did upon learning that. 

“I know.” 

“Fox News is gonna have a field day with this.” She rolled her eyes at the idea and grunted. 

“And somehow, conspiracy theorists will still find a way to blame the Jews,” she snarked. Ibrahim snickered before giving a sigh. 

“So. Bite marks. Makeup. Meticulous footprints. Sounds like a control freak.” 

“That's what Marsden said, although he worded it more like the guy would go into a cleaning frenzy given the opportunity.” 

Ibrahim laughed at that and Frisk chuckled along. 

The shadows in the trees were long from the morning sun. Pine needles just a bit too cramped. Frisk brought her hand to rub her neck as she continued to listen to Ibrahim's voice. A soothing distraction from the claustrophobia that loomed over and around her.  

“Yeah, he also pointed out that he brought her into coyote country. Some half assed attempt at pinning the bites on the coyotes I guess. Lazy. Contradicts the profile to be honest,” she muttered once the jokes had passed. 

“No it doesn't. Not really.” 

She furrowed her brow and swayed on her heels. “What do you mean?” she asked. 

“He doesn't think the coyotes are a cover. It might be some kind of… metaphor for how he sees himself.” Her eyes sparkled at the words. Of course. 

“A predator.” 

“Exactly.”
