think about this,

anharion is seen as the light figure, the general of the sun, that was choked by sarcean's dark claws and forced to be by his side, to be his lieutenant and destroy the world because of the powers of the collar stuck on his neck

so that would mean that anharion on his natural state was "good", that if he never was collared by sarcean he would have wanted to fight for the light and follow his path alongside the sun king, right?

but... james is anharion. and he is not collared for most of this series by now. and during all this time he has shown absolute no interest in fighting for the light, in fact, he was part of what killed all the stewards.

he is also naturally drawn to will, he feels like he belongs by his side, he wants to be beside will and no one else. he was near the dark, when he was with simon and sinclair, but he was never really loyal to them, the only person (as he himself said) he wants to be loyal to is will.

so for me that proves that anharion was not at all forced to be beside sarcean, that the collar def means something else.

one more thing i think we tend to forget because we love and support james so much is, he is vicious. he is dark. he kind of killed his entire family (i mean, as he should lol) and felt no real guilt on it, he even laughs about it. he can be dark so that means that anharion could be too.

edit 1: i'm not saying he is evil and that sarcean was too, i don't think they were at all the bad guys, but that they were morally grey. (cs pacat doesn't write villains or heroes, just morally grey people)

edit 2: adding here that also something very interesting is: will does not care att all about james darkness too. to me that proves that yes, sarcean and anharion had true viciousness in them. cyprian and violet do question him about it all the time (why are you fluffing his pillow?) and will could not give less of a fuck about james' morality (why wouldn't i be fluffing his pillow?)

Thinking about Jody Mills. How she would drop everything/has dropped everything to help Sam and Dean. How she fixed them home cooked food, food that their mother wouldn’t even fix them. How she praised them for their work and was thankful for their help, unlike their own mother. How she tried to talk to their mother, tell Mary how wonderful her sons have become. How Mary was lucky to have sons like them. How much good that those boys have done for the world. Those boys put their lives on the line every day for strangers that they don’t even know so that nobody will have to go through what they have went through. Yet, Mary Winchester still continued to leave them, to replace them. She couldn’t even pretend to care about them. Jody never had to pretend though. She loved those boys like they were her own; just like Alex and Claire. Mary Winchester may have birthed those boys but she was not their mother. Jody was. Just as Bobby was their father.

My view of romance in The Breakfast Club

(originally written for my school's news paper as a movie review, thought it would interest some folks if I shared it here too)

I particularly have a problem with the ending of the movie. Claire gives Allison a makeover, why not, but it’s only after she sucks out the life out of everything that made her Allison that Andrew truly liked her and dared expressing his feelings to her, which sucks! Sure, he did show some interest in her before but so did everyone, because she was strange, because that’s her main trait as a character! But 80’s movies logic obliges, he fell in love with her when she became normal, even though they haven’t even known each other for more than 24 hours, which is the most unrealistic thing in that movie, but same goes for Claire and John, why would she go for him when he has been nothing but a jerk to her? I was rooting for Claire + Andrew (as cliché as it sounds) or even Claire + Brian (seriously, how come he doesn’t get a romantic ending too, he is so boyfriend material, of maybe I just have a thing for nerds), but nooo, they decided to go with my least favorite trope: “if he picks on you it’s because he likes you”. Former bullied kid here: this is a lie just to excuse the harmful behavior of boys, because as you know it society is misogynistic. Why does everything have to revolve around romance? Why can’t they just be friends first, go on a date maybe some time, get into a relationship after a bit, but they barely even know anything about each other, yes the little vent session they had was nice, but we have no clear idea of Allison and Brian’s lives at home, Claire hasn’t even revealed why she ended up in detention, nobody can name an interest or hobby of John, and do you know how Andrew is performing in school? No, you don’t, and neither do the characters in the movie. But as much as those feel like details and they can still learn about all of that when they are on a relationship, it is wrong to say you are in love with someone when you don’t even know what their dream career is or how many exes they have, not to mention that all of those questions could be deal breakers; and I will die on that hill.

listen i’m not saying that old resident evil was peak female rep and without its faults but its so sad to me seeing how quickly the female characters in the franchise got sidelined or fell to tropes

#resident evil #jill valentine was the first playable female character in survival horror #a badass in re3 #then…. reduced to a sexy brainwashed woman in re5 and since then her role as one of the main protags has dwindled compared to chris #claire redfield was a resilient and resourceful character with solid interests and goals #and was a strong main protag for re2 and cvx #then she gets sidelined because….. ?? why #ada wong quickly got sidelined for the male counterpart as soon as she appeared in re4 #and her character has been more and more dependent on her sexuality #and her relationship to leon #shinji mikami just straight up hates rebecca because he didnt make her strong enough #but she still is only really a plot device in the other things she showed up in save re0 #resizura rants #edit: #sorry i have to add more tags about claire #because she was well on her way of being a more compelling character than leon #she had a direct relation to one of the first protags #her route (claire A) is considered the canon one in the original game #and she got her own main game (that people ignore because theres not a number next to it) #which is one of the most important games in the franchise storywise #which saw the redfields actively trying to take down umbrella! like she had a hand in the downfall of the MAIN ANTAGONIST #but SHE’S the one who gets sidelined?

honestly I’m a bit disappointed that the bear wrote such a generic love interest who exists just to be a love interest to try to fix the sad man. like, claires scenes are so heavily focused on slowmo close ups to her little side smile and the quippy cutesy remarks. she’s literally giving therapy advice about reclaiming cannoli and processing grief. every person who brings her up praises her as kind and beautiful and intelligent.

i understand that this may be the point - that carmy can’t even keep a relationship with the perfect woman because he can’t let himself be happy - but it just comes off as so hollow and she feels like a plot device and not a person. even pete who is unconditionally supportive to sugar is shown to be bumbling and awkward and annoying and makes people around him roll their eyes, he is seen as lame. but not claire, she’s beloved by all. she’s an ER resident but even that is used not to show her in a high stress job or give carmy something to realize some of his own problems aren’t life or death, it’s so she can be super duper extra understanding that he’s busy and will sometimes flake because she’s gets it, but we never see her experience any problems or even speak about them!! because everything is about carmy.

in a show with so many richly written characters it was just disappointing to me to see a woman who manages to be a very boring cool hot smart girl. on that note, i will say season 1 heavily romanticized mikey and season 2 shattered that illusion, so if she returns I expect that same treatment.

i am re-watching trollhunters and s3e10 is truly one of the best episodes in animation history, the way it conveys jim's feelings: the burden of his sense of responsibility and the yearning for the life he deserves; while circling around with the memories of people that means the world to him- his world, his reason to let himself go. And while they are banging on the door it is so clear that he is self-aware, that he is doing it again leaving them behind even though they've decided they are stronger together, and with guilt, M*rlin's words become his fuel; because he sees "the bigger picture" grandpa wizard was talking about. The chosen one; chosen to let go for the sake of holding it, carrying it all.

Young Atlas, carrying it all, alone.

And the way he is thinking of Blinky's words on what it means to be a hero as he sinks down… showing how scared he is and how brave he is in the face of that fear.

Poetic cinema.

-And this is just me being dramatic but hearing Anton's voice in the flashbacks makes this ten times more painful. His Jim has a different place in my heart.
