Not even four hours after being discharged from the hospital, I find out my Dad had to be readmitted. Making this hospital stay number 3 in two months.

wait - you aren't trans? Maybe it's just because I followed you from a different trans woman, but I was under the impression you were. My bad!

I think the context of this ask is the birth announcement my grandmother made that I shared yesterday (for folks who missed it, my grandpa was a magician and my grandma was an escape artist)

I would guess this confusion is because @cipheramnesia and I have the whole "brunette with an undercut and glasses who are also tumblr mutuals with a mutual crush and with similar circles of mutuals and pals" twinsies thing going on. People get us twisted all the time and every time it is a huge compliment.

I'm nonbinary so for the birth announcement "it's a baby" was definitely more accurate than "it's a girl" would have been, the card just needed like three more sets of pronouns, but I am not a trans woman.

(and for people who are going to ask: i'm fine with pretty much any pronouns. my username is gendered because it's what I've been using since before I'd really figured out any gender stuff and the photo is very femme because funnily enough it was a photo that I took specifically to look more like a photo of cipher. since i have a million sideblogs of course I have a queer stuff sideblog, it is @fellow-ny)

We had a lot of good entries this time and I had a very hard time choosing.  So many made me laugh, so thank you to everybody who submitted!

What is the origin of your avatar?

Okay so my avatar USED to be a pug peeing on a swastika, which is an actual piece of old anti-nazi propaganda I found in a newspaper archive.

Fast forward many years, and there was an ask game going around or something that was like, what crytid am I? And @cipheramnesia informed me that I was a pug with ram horns and butt wings. And I was like damn. You're right. I am. That's me as a person on an atomic level. And for whatever reason @densewentz decided to draw it? And I was like, need that peeing on a swastika to replace my icon and she was like "sure" for, again, reasons unknown other than fits of artistic passion.

And that's the story of my tumblr icon, which I will never change.

Just watched Der Samurai, genuinely don't know how to describe it other than perhaps "holy fuck".

There's a sense of euphoria you get from a film like this – I think I last felt it when I watched Sound of Violence last year – which is quite hard to explain. It's almost addicting honestly.

I'm pretty sure both of these came onto my radar courtesy of @cipheramnesia so thank you for that.

It's interesting, I've never really had much of had much of an interest in either horror or slasher films before I watched SoV, so now I'm wondering how much of my enjoyment of these two films was because of their treatment of gore as somewhere between being sexual and being a gender, and whether I would actually enjoy more mainstream examples of the genre.
