I went to a convention about a week ago and got to see the voice actors for Cubot (Wally Wingert), Amy Rose (Cindy Robinson) and Rouge the Bat (Karen Strassman) for the Sonic franchise. So, I recreated the photo from the bottom *apologies for low quality* into SFM with their respective characters.
So on the topic regarding Hinoka, what do you think of Cindy Robinson?
Ok, I really like Cindy’s acting. Great actress, she is really talented.
… But gosh DAMN she ends up replacing actors that were a better fit (for characters she now plays) WAY too often! It’s totally not her fault, I get it, but you know that Doofenshmirtz meme, two nickels and all. I liked Elizabeth Daily’s Peri and Hinoka more than Cindy’s, but to Cindy’s credit her Hinoka really improved. And then nothing against her Amy Rose, but she had big shoes to fill after Lisa Ortiz. But she’s done better too.
But anyways, Cindy Robinson has played Hinoka, Peri, Aversa, Libra, and Minerva. Cindy took over Hinoka and Peri for FEH.
Cindy’s performance as Aversa and Minerva are top-notch; Aversa’s sultry, flirty tones are complemented by the husky tone Cindy gives her, and Minerva’s voice is solemn and somewhat bitter, especially her line about remembering happy days. It should be noted that Cindy’s performance for Hinoka and Peri started off pretty rough, but her Hinoka voice vastly improved by the time we got her alt, the OG Kinshi Hinoka. She started relaxing her voice a bit more and wasn’t trying to force Elizabeth’s original raspy tone. Can’t say much about Peri because we haven’t had an alt yet, but I’m confident she’ll improve her Peri voice. I… have some thoughts about her Libra voice. But I’ll say the performance is serviceable.
I think for Minerva and Aversa, Cindy was a perfect fit as an original actress. Regarding Hinoka, I think she was a fine pick for a replacement, though it definitely took some time. Can’t say much on Peri because I have a feeling her performance would change drastically between base Peri and whatever alt Peri gets in the future. I will say for Libra, I’m actually not super fond of her being Libra’s. It’s not her fault honestly, it’s more of a personal issue that I feel like Libra should have had a male actor with perhaps a softer voice. I just feel like giving Libra a female actor takes the “Libra looks like a chick” joke to a detriment because her voice doesn’t fit as well.
With all that being said, I think Cindy’s got pretty great range! It’s not often a VA can play two wildly different ends of the spectrum (sultry and regular tones). And props to her for doing her best to take on previously casted roles, it’s NOT easy.
So overall, I think Cindy Robinson is a close 9/10. Now if only her other roles would get some alts, we made progress with Resplendent Aversa.
I had a feeling Roger Craig Smith had earned my acknowledgement of his work years ago. I can now remember him voicing Deidara from Naruto Shippuden as I hear him voice Sonic in Sonic Boom. I kinda liked Cindy Robinson voicing these vocally low toned anime characters back then too.
Happily N'Ever After 2: Snow White—Another Bite @ the Apple (2009)
While I didn't enjoy this film, that doesn't mean you won't. No matter what I say, the people involved in this project did it: they actually made a movie. That's something to be applauded. With that established...
I never thought I’d see a movie that would have me looking back fondly at Happily N’Ever After but here I am, wondering if the original really was THAT bad. Yes, it was but this direct-to-DVD follow-up is even worse.
After her mother dies, Snow White (voiced by Helen Niedwick) grows up spoiled, caring only for the fame and fortune of royalty. The kingdom’s chances of a “happily ever after” ending is in danger when Mambo (Jim Sullivan) and Munk (Kirk Thornton) accidentally tip the scales of good and evil and give Lady Vain (Cindy Robinson) - who hates Snow White - the means to seduce now-widowed King Cole (Kelly Brewster) and become queen herself. Banished from the kingdom through Vain’s machinations, Snow White must learn kindness to save her home and people.
This is one of the worst-looking movies I’ve ever seen. People sometimes joke about first-generation computer imagery looking like something out of a video game but this time, no one is exaggerating. Every character is stiff, lifeless, and moves around like a cloud. The backgrounds are missing textures, objects seem misaligned, and everything is generally ugly. When characters speak, their mouths are stretched in any which direction. - You’ve seen better lip-synch from one of those rubber talking fishes hanging on the wall. It’s an eye-sore to watch and the experience is made worse by the garbage story.
You’ll notice none of the voice actors from the original film return. It's the same for the characters. Only the dwarves, the fairy godmother and both Mumbo & Munk make an appearance. Those last two add so little to the story they should’ve been cut. They weren't because this would’ve made this sequel even more tenuously tied to the 2006 Shrek wannabe and it would’ve also slashed precious minutes from the 70-minute running time. Even at barely over an hour, this feels like an eternity.
The jokes are never, ever funny, the dialogue inane and the plot lazy. The songs are so bland and forgettable you’re likely to fall asleep (if only you could). There isn’t an ounce of inspiration to be found anywhere. Happily N'Ever After 2 is inexcusably lazy and takes every shortcut possible. I can’t imagine anyone was clamoring for this sequel considering what the first one was like so this can’t even be something that was green-lit by some misguided fans. Happily N’Ever After 2 was spawned by an accountant; a bean counter who figured out the company could make X profits if they made a sequel that cost less than Y. It’s a disgrace.
If Happily N’Ever After was to Shrek what vegan spaghetti and meatballs is to regular spaghetti and meatballs, then Happily N'Ever After 2: Snow White—Another Bite @ the Apple is a collection of dog turds squeezed through some Play-Doh moulds to look like food. I can’t imagine anyone enjoying it. The ones who worked on this should be ashamed of themselves. (On DVD, March 22, 2019)
I have finally finished this series and I'm really proud of myself. I hope you guys like it and comment letting me know what you think. You can also follow me on these social media accounts. You can also follow me on these social media accounts.

I find it hilarious that Queen Beryl and Amy Rose share a voice actress. Now that's range. Now I'm headcanoning Beryl saying what Amy says before she becomes Queen again in Crystal. Just human!Beryl being a sweet but absolutely bonkers woman with a massive hammer like Nora. But it's not Nora. It's Beryl.
After a really long time, I'm back with another post. And it's the big reveal - the real point of the Echoes AU!
(and now please bear with me, it's a really weird idea XD)
Although it might not be a big surprise to some people, the basic premise is pretty much the same as the Reverse french mistake AU from Supernatural. The current Sonic voice actors (Roger, Colleen, Travis, Cindy and Mike) get somehow sucked into the game during a recording session. They wake up in Green hill zone, looking and sounding (unsuprisingly) exactly like their characters.
At first they just settle into the strange situation they've somehow stumbled into, but soon they find out that they are living through the game storylines they've voiced.
I have many more ideas (like what is going on with the older voice actors), but I need to know if you're interested, so please let me know. (even though I'll probably post a continuation anyways XD)
