"Rammstein moved the Earth
Two concerts of the German group Rammstein in Chorzów caused noticeable vibrations of the earth's crust. They were recorded by seismometers installed in the Silesian Planetarium. The facility's seismological station is located about one and a half kilometers from the Silesian Stadium, where the concerts took place. The presented record of vibrations comes from Sunday (first concert) and starts at 20:01. Individual charts (from top) are vibrations in the X, Y and Z axes. Clearly visible on the graphs you can see which of the songs presented by the band were the loudest.
The analysis also confirms that Rammstein at the Silesian Stadium began its performance with a real earthquake...
Chart: Aleksandra Chrzan"

do let us know how the chicago trip goes!
The stat about chicago having more poles than Warsaw comes from an estimated number based off he number of immigrants and projected second-generation populations-- NOT the actual population of self-identified poles in chicago. Historically a lot of Poles went for integration so it's not surprising that a lot of people of polish heritage stopped self-identifying as polish by the third gen. I'm sure if you counted every single person who has a drop of polish blood as polish, Chicago might still count as having more poles than warsaw.
tho most polish americans in chicago are third gen by now, so a lot of them are very americanized. polish community stuff is all but gone tbh. From what I hear the polish community is basically a stepping stone of sorts before going on to economic prosperity and moving elsewhere-- to the suburbs or whatever. I would say most people of polish heritage don't speak Polish, but there are still a fair amount who do-- theres even a polish radio station, 103.1, & whoever djs in the late afternoon (after 2pm but before 8pm) absolutely SLAPS.
Apparently there's still a 'Polish American accent' (which sounds about as much like Polish as an Italian American accent sounds Italian) but honestly to me it just sounds like your typical white accent. Maybe a touch lower class, but it's stopped reading like that to most people since a significant amount of second-gen Poles got good respectable jobs and are pretty middle class overall.
Culturally speaking food practices are usually the absolute Last things to go in terms of naturally occurring assimilation. I've seen classmates having pack pierogis for lunch. The cherry ones go crazy imo. Anyways you should def go check out some of the Polish restaurants in town!
but yeah if you're looking at chicago as a polish city it Will be disappointing. if you take it on its face tho as an american city with heavy polish influence, you'll be pleasantly surprised by how much polish stuff is around.
Yeah it's similar here in Michigan and not much of what used to be remains. And unlike the Italians we didn't really make our name in changing American cuisine or inventing st Patrick's day like the Irish.
My family is probably the exception to the norm solely from the fact that you can find jars of chrzan at Thanksgiving, and even then no one speaks much polish and there's a lot of traditions that we've lost throughout generations.
It's a little sad but it is what it is 🤷🏼‍♀️ i guarantee in fifty years there won't be much of anything and in a hundred years the prominent groups today will make way to even more groups of immigrants that will do the same with those groups being like alright let's move on and do our things.

Bradford Winslow Vose, Indian County (Florida) inmate 277163, Florida inmate K86635, born 1989, incarceration intake in 2014 at age 25, sentenced to life
Murder, Robbery
Jurors found 25-year-old Bradford Vose guilty of murder in the first degree and also found the defendant guilty of attempted armed robbery.
Jurors deliberated for nearly five hours and returned the verdict at 3:22 p.m.
Vose was being tried for the murder of Joseph Farruggio who was shot four times and killed in Vose’s home in Vero Lake Estates on Sept. 8, 2010.
In a trial that began Friday, Jan. 24, 2014 jurors heard from more than 20 witnesses and were presented with more than 120 pieces of evidence as the State sought to convince the jury that Vose was guilty of murder in the first degree while committing a felony act.
Assistant State Attorney Chris Taylor argued that Vose, then aged 21, and an accomplice, Courtney Jones, had a pre-meditated plan to rob Farruggio of the high-grade marijuana Farruggio was expected to deliver. According to the evidence, the marijuana was worth $1,000-$1,200.
Killing someone – even in self-defense – while committing a felony does not make it justifiable homicide, the State argued.
Vose’s defense counsel made a case for self-defense, arguing that Vose was not stealing the marijuana, but instead was duped by Jones who ran off with the marijuana unexpectedly, leaving Vose to deal with an angry and violent Farruggio.
Farruggio, according to the defense, was the aggressor, beating Vose severely – to the point that Vose lost a tooth during the altercation.
Vose, fearing for his life, pulled a gun on Farruggio, emptying his clip of six bullets, and hitting the man a total of four times.
According to Vose’s defense attorneys, Bobby Guttridge and Adam Chrzan, an appeal is in motion due to the defendant’s right to a speedy trial and to a possible violation of the Williams Rule.
In this case, the Williams Rule pertains to the evidence that was admitted into the courtroom regarding an incident in January 2010 in which the defendant and his accomplice allegedly robbed another drug dealer in a similar manner as the State accused Vose of attempting to rob Farruggio.
According to Guttridge and Chrzan, the irrelevance of the January incident and the lack of evidence to prove the event ever took place are grounds for appealing on the basis of the Williams Rule.
As of March 2023, appeals are ongoing.
Editors note:  Mug shots are in chronological order.  Indiana River County jail uses a barber’s cape for all individuals when taking a mug-shot photo.
Vose was briefly lodged in the Indian River County Jail in August 2022 for proceedings, and was they subsequently returned the custody and control of state Department of Corrections.

Bez zmian
Żeby Was... Podobno jakieś święta były. Posłuchajcie:
Święta XD Serio? Były jakieś? Niby Wielki Czwartek, Piątek i Sobotę w Kościele byłem. W poniedziałek też. Niby były jajka, biała, chrzan... Bracia przyjechali...
I dziś już do pracy. Druga zmiana XD Moja "ulubiona".
//
Brak wyczucia i bałaganiarstwo pani Matki doprowadza mnie do ostateczności.

Mam jeszcze kilka dni.
