A woman wearing the traditional clothes of a "cholita" skates during a skate festival in La Paz, Bolivia, on September 30, 2020. These young women wear this traditional clothing as a statement of their pride in indigenous culture. #
I forgot to post this here but during October I also tried to complete the challenge Graficalaca by @salvador.pomar on Instagram (I say I tried to complete it but really I just did two drawings and called it a day :b ) anyways, here are the two drawings I made: Day 1: Alma Kepis, Day 6: Aña Guasu
This is Yovana, a Cholita skateboarder. I drew her for a Character Design Challenge (on Facebook) last year, the theme for which was "Cholita Adventurer." I found some great reference photos of a Bolivian Cholita skateboarding crew that served as the inspiration for this design.
Cholita Adventurer was the Character Design Challenge for December 2021. The term connotes a traditional image of a Bolivian woman out in the wilderness. I wanted to take a different spin on that. Instead of a young lady adventuring out in the wilds, I have my Cholita venture out into a location most men have never gone before; space.
