For a whole hour, as if giving me a stern talking-to, [Mr. Sawada] praised me at the top of his voice. I began to be short of breath, and it got all misty and dark in front of my eyes. It was an awful feeling, as if my body was turning to stone. Because I knew that even if I was praised this much I was not worth it. I only worried about how painful it would be, how ashamed I would be when, after this, I wrote an inept composition and was laughed at by everyone. I didn’t even want to go on living.

So by your rules crack-shipping is out? And what about AUs? (I'm really the ship and let ship type, as long as people tag it and I kind of think that the rules are slightly alienating and limit creativity. What I enjoy in reading fanfiction is people writing well enough that I buy into a ship I'm not normally crazy about)

No, not necessarily. Crack shipping and AUs are all fine, as long as they follow our other guidelines (no incest, no shipping minors and adults, no non-con, etc). Which rules do you specifically think are alienating and limiting? Because the rules about incest, shipping adults and minors, etc are non-negotiable for us. 

If you’re talking about the straightwashing rule, I can discuss it with the other mod further. However, I would argue that if there are only two characters-Ike and Heather-who fall under that rule, it’s not actually all that limiting in the scheme of things, because you can still write about a huge number of other ships, crackship or not. Personally, I know that as a queer fan of FE, seeing fics that erase Heather or Ike’s sexuality is alienating and hurtful to me, and if other LGBTQ+ fans also feel that way, I personally would prioritize the feelings of LGBTQ+ fans over the ability to write literally any ship. 

But like I said, I’m willing to consider other people’s opinions on this, so if you and/or anyone else has an opinion, feel free to send them in and Mod Sanaki and I will talk it over.

I don’t know, but I think very badly of myself. Even as I say that, in a corner of my heart something stubborn that trusts in itself, that says there is one good thing in me somewhere, darkly and firmly coils its roots.
