no shade on anybody because i don’t disagree that english is a crazy language, but every time i see one of those english is the worst language ever nothing makes sense!!! posts i’m just like. chinese is right there

#laughs awkwardly #due to the written language being developed several millennia before there was a unified spoken dialect that began to be taught across china #there is no relationship between form and pronunciation. i mean sometimes there is but that's not something you can rely on #you are playing pictionary every day. you must manually memorize how every single word is pronounced #and sometimes they are pronounced differently in a certain context. why? because fuck you #do people know that by the way? that mandarin chinese was just one of many MANY chinese dialects and it just happened to be picked #as the Main Way we pronounce chinese now. because it's the beijing dialect i believe #english: sometimes we have a word that has several consonants in a row and people struggle to pronounce it! tee hee! #chinese: sometimes we stack three of the same word in a pyramid and that's a new word now. we make up some random way to pronounce it #chinese: good luck trying to fit the word within the lined paper suckers
