Another weird medical question for y'all! This one is benadryl (diphenhydramine) related. Well, these ones, plural
A. Have you ever gotten so upset and/or emotional you spiked a fever?
B. Have you ever taken benadryl for a fever, emotion-caused or not and
C. Did the benadryl completely fix your fever?
Before anyone points it out, yes I know none of that should I work that way. I did not take the benadryl for the fever, I took the benadryl for the oncoming allergic reaction that was starting, and then once it kicked in I no longer had a fever. I am aware all of that is weird, which is why I am asking these questions lol

While I accept there was probably a number of valid reasons as to why the show didn't include a birth scene for Alicent (ie time constraints) I don't agree at all with this idea that being thrown around that it was unnecessary because Aegon's birth "came quickly and without fuss".
Like first off I find people using Alicent's words here as proof that she had it easy so funny because if you actually educate yourself just a little you would understand that often times a "quick" labour is still extremely painful - you're basically running the length of a marathon at a sprint. Obviously I wouldn't compare Alicent's experience to Aemma and Laena's (whose experiences were horror stories and the worst possible scenario). But Rhaenyra's? We don't know how her first two births went, but there's not much to convince me that her giving birth to Joffrey would have been any more significantly painful compared to Alicent with Aegon. Especially when you consider how it was Rhaenyra's third versus Aegon being Alicent's first.
Furthermore I feel like people are forgetting that Alicent says this on Aegon's second name day. It's been 2 years. Because of this, I don't think it's wrong to assume that Alicent might be misremembering or downplaying it.
Secondly Aegon's birth supposedly being easy is moot to me because that's Aegon's. Not every birth is the same. Alicent could still have had a very difficult birth with Helaena who she was barely 2 months away from delivering in episode 3. To give you a real life example my mother gave birth to my elder brother easy enough but when she had her second child me she ended up needing a caesarean because according to the doctors I was in distress.
Furthermore saying a birth scene wasn't necessary on the basis that it was apparently a walk in the park for Alicent is so completely lacking in like empathy.
Like never mind the fact that Aegon's birth is a turning point in both Rhaenyra and Alicent's story because the minute they both found out Alicent had a son, Rhaenyra's claim was now in danger. It's the fact that you would have this 15 year old giving birth because this 40 something year old impregnated her. It's a level of horror that the others (Laena, Aemma, Rhaenyra) don't have because all of the three mentioned were adults in their scenes. Although to be fair Laena would have been around a similar age when she had Baela and we don't know how old Aemma was when she had her first with Viserys but those aren't the births being used. It's the fact that Alicent would have gone into labour knowing Viserys last wife died in childbirth and horrifically at that! It's the fact that the people she would want to confide in about her fears (her mother and Rhaenyra) are either dead or angry at her so you have this isolated terrified 15 year old uncertain of the future.
Ultimately I'm fine with it not being included because funny enough I don't need a super painful birth scene for me to sympathise with a character especially in regards to their motherhood. But I do this idea that excluding a birth scene for Alicent necessary because it was "painless" just completely untrue, sorry.

Okay, but where do wangxian find all these babies?
Let it be stated for the record that Lan Qiren never wanted kids of his own, especially since he had to raise his nephews. Of course, now they're grown up he's quite happy to collect more nephews and nieces. Or great-nephews and great-nieces. He kinda wishes Lan Wanji would adopt more, but doesn't want to say it.
And then the disaster couple go off on one of their mini honeymoons and return with a baby. A baby that Wei Wuxian insists he gave birth to. I mean someone should probably question where they found the little one but they are just so cute! This ends up becoming something of a habit - they end up with a new kid after every mini-moon, and Wei Wuxian makes lots of inappropriate jokes about honeymoon babies.
You know who else is delighted at this development? Wen Ning! Because he is hug-shaped and deserves all the hugs and the kids brigade is determined to hug him at every chance they get. He can be frequently found on the bunny field, sitting in the grass, making flower crowns with all the kids.
Imagine Jiang Cheng's shock when he comes to Cloud Recesses for whatever and comes across Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji with like five kids under the age of ten hanging off of them? He's suddenly realising he's an uncle several times over and Wei Wuxian didn't tell him. His horrible HORRIBLE brother starts up the pregnancy jokes again.
The horror! Also both him and Jin Ling start borrowing whichever of the kids are going through the terrible twos for when particularly annoying people come for meetings. They keep a score sheet on who's gotten the best reactions out of Sect Leader Yao. So far it's the little girl who very loudly asked her uncle when the annoying man was going to stop talking. In the middle of a discussion conference.
She is nearly overtaken next year when one of the boys marches up to "the annoying man" and asks why he has a caterpillar under his nose. Sect Leader Yao demands to know why these tiny Lan disciples aren't better behaved, and Lan Qiren very coolly replies that curiosity in children is to be encouraged.
Nie Huaissang is dieing in the background. If Lan Wangji ever wants to stop being Chief Cultivator, then he needs to stop making the discussion conferences so entertaining.
And then a clear winner is decided when the newest addition to the wangxian family points at Sect Leaders Yao and Ouyang and eagerly asks if they're just like her two dads.
Nie Huaissang, patting her head: "No, sweetie, your dads are much prettier."
Nie Huaissanf is seriously considering adoption himself if this is the sort of thing the kids might get up to. Then the littlest baby decides that Nie Huaissang's fan is like daddy's flute and therefore a chew toy. He isn't quite sure how to be annoyed at such a small child, but he's quite okay with smacking said child's dad when he starts laughing.
Wei Wuxian threatens to withhold parenting tips in retaliation. Jiang Cheng then tells Wei Wuxian he's an absolute moron because can you imagine the utter chaos Nie Huaissang could unleash when left to raise a bunch of impressionable children without supervision. Cue Jiang Cheng trying to give Nie Huaissang parenting tips and Nie Huaissang trying not to laugh.
The Juniors watch all this and wonder they are as well-adjusted as they are.
