Whispers of destiny
Chapter 1
Wedding hells🔔
Bela's POV:
I'm a homebody, especially when it comes to avoiding weddings. People aren't really my scene. But hey, food? Now that's my jam. I rocked a pearl white dress with white scarf, and tauny brown khussa, feeling like my own version of Princess Jasmine. That's some serious self-love, right?
"Bit bright?" Aunty judged, rolling her eyes.
"Who?" I looked around innocently.
"Obviously, you, Bela!" She smirked firing back.
"Well, aunty pouring a white creamy sauce over brownie ever made brownie white? Or have you seen gulab jamun turning white upon pouring a sweet sauce? I fired back.
"You've got a point, but no one will marry you with that dark skin, beta," Aunty smirked, thinking she'd won.
"Thank God, I have dark skin, not a dark mind like them. So, that won't work out, Aunty. And please, don't worry about me." I laughed it off.
"No, beta, you're missing the point. White just doesn't suit you," Aunty persisted.
"I liked your 'Black Lives Matter' post on Facebook. Nice supporting black lives while bullying brown ones," I retorted, adjusting my hijab. Suddenly, aunty was saved by an imaginary caller - she vanished in seconds.
"Queenie, you dropped this," a teenage girl pretended to hand me a crown. We shared a laugh, that "don't-tell-us-what-to-do" kind. Meanwhile, the newlyweds exchanged glances while laughing.
Desi aunties, never letting up at weddings, always have something to say - weight, complexion, age, you name it. And don't get me started on their obsession with beauty remedies from YouTube channels predicting the world's end!
"Wait, let me guess, Samrina's daughter? All grown up!" Aunty excitedly guessed.
"Oh, Aunty, I remember you!" I tried to match her energy, figuring her out.
"Have you seen my mom?" I asked again.
"She was right there talking to a lady," she replied.
"Thank you so much!" I flashed a bright smile.
"Ammi," I grabbed her hand.
"Yes, beta? Is everything okay?" Ammi asked.
"Everything's fine, except me. I'm starving. When's the food?" I fake-cried.
Ammi chuckled. "What would people say? This girl's here only for food?"
"Exactly! You drag me to these events, and you know why I come." I narrowed my eyes playfully.
"What else can drag you out of your kingdom?" Ammi teased.
"Okay, let's eat something and go home," I suggested, heading to the buffet.
The spicy chicken tikka was so aromatic, blending perfectly with the environment. "Ready to go?" I wiped my mouth with a tissue.
"They'll say we were here just for food," Ammi joked.
"That's the truth. We were here for the food," I said, making an innocent face.
"Assalamualaikum, Aunty, how are you?" An unfamiliar voice interrupted.
"Wa alaikum assalam, Saad, beta," Ammi responded gently.
"Congratulations on your sister's wedding. They look good together," Ammi said, observing the couple.
"Jazakallah khayran, Aunty," he smiled.
I noticed some action that signaled a message between Ammi and me.
"Saad, uncle's looking for you," Hadeed interrupted.
As Saad hurried away, I couldn't help but notice his good sense of style, wearing white shalwar qameez, the classic Pakistani drama look. But I wasn't interested in checking him out. Whenever aunties ask me about what I look in a guy, I look away, i answer which always offends them.
As I adjusted my white embroidered dupatta, it got stuck somewhere. When I turned back, I saw him pulling away, and my dupatta got freed from his silver watch. My heart sank - what just happened? This was my choice of color today. How could someone with the same color scheme casually appear, and my dupatta get tangled in his stuff?
"Destiny?" I pondered. "Is this my Bollywood moment?"
"Haram, haram, haram," Mufti Menk's voice echoed. "Stop looking over there, stupid Bela."
"We gotta go," I grabbed Mom's hand, and we made our exit.

What the Flip Lily?!
@jilytoberfest @jilymicrofics Week 4 prompts: Blip, Flip, Clip, Rip, Trip (my schedule in rl is a bit hectic, but here's a little Jily domestic family fluff)
Summary: Lily was enjoying the special moment with Harry in the nursery of Godric's Hollow... that was until James had decided to say some colorful words.
read below or on A03
His green eyes were so beautiful and full of love that Lily could do nothing but smile, as she cradled her little Harry in her arms. He’s so tiny, with his tiny fingers that reached and squeezed her finger as he gurgled a little laugh, as he kicked his tiny feet. Sitting here in the nursery, as she rocked on the ancient rocking chair, had become one of her favorite places to be here in Godric’s Hollow. Even with the war looming above them, as they hide in this house, she knows that there’s still beauty in the world, one of the reasons is the adorable look on Harry's face. Loving the way he giggled at the way she “booped” his nose with her finger.
While her little Harry, her adorable son would always end up blowing a raspberry at her, making Lily’s eyes fill up with tears of happiness.
A world where the war is over and Muggles and Muggleborn are safe to live their lives free of fear and pain. Harry’s green eyes are a reflection of her own, yet the messy black hair is definitely all James. If she were to really focus, she could see the glimmer of mischief within those beautiful green orbs. It was times like these in which Lily realizes that there can be peace in the wizarding world. One look at the child in her arms proves that her statement is real. No matter the time of day or night, Lily knew for certain that her little Harry will always be safe in her warm embrace.
So pure, so innocent, her little Harry James Po-
“Son of a Bit-”
Lily whips her head towards the nursery’s door, at the sound of her dearest husband’s outburst, the door knob jostles a bit before it turns slightly right and the door gets pushed open. As James limps into the room, while muttering obscenities, “I see you still haven’t moved the end table from the living room, Lils.” James said as he walked across the small distance to the nightstand. “I told you that I’d do it later, and no swearing James, I don’t want Harry to learn such words,” Lily scolded him, while making a show of covering Harry’s pink ears. “Oh, come on Lils you know more than I do that you have a sailor mouth”, James retorted, “I recall that you had quite the colorful vocabulary this morning that would even make an Auror blush.” With a roll of her eyes, Lily focused her attention back at the gurgling child in her arms, “No swearing, isn’t that right, sweetheart,” she cooed at Harry, making him giggle and his eyes brighten with happiness.
“I’m going to prepare some Palak Paneer and some Chicken Tikka Masala”, James said momentarily pulling Lily away from Harry, before she could ask how he got the ingredients for such a lavish meal, James waved his hand at her. “Relax, I used the Invisibility cloak and I can assure you that nobody saw me,” he said with certainty that the only thing that Lily could do was nod her head and smile at her husband. Lily watched as James walked towards her and give her a gentle kiss on Harry’s forehead before moving to kiss her gently on her soft lips. Before he moved away, he leaned down and she felt his breath tickle her skin as he whispered a promise into her ear, “I won’t let anything happen to either of you and I promise to tell you next time when I’ll go out for food.”
Lily nodded as she tried her best to not think of exactly how far the man, she loves would go in order to protect them, she doesn’t want to entertain the thought of losing him because he sacrifices himself in order to save them. No, a world without James is simply not a world she wants to live in, they made a promise and she will do everything in her power for the three of them to come out of this war alive. There’s simply no other alternative, she will not let anyone rip her family away from her.
James gives her a soft smile, his dimples showing before he turns to head out of the room, so he could show off his culinary skills, something that Lily could never achieve. Although, in her opinion there is nothing sexier than a man cooking up the most delicious curry and having the dishes cleaned and put away afterwards.
However, it has seemed as though luck wasn’t on her husband’s side, since he ended up tripping over the corner of the rug that was sticking up and ended up banging his toe onto one of the legs of the crib, as he was now hoping on one foot as he bit his bottom lip in frustration. Yes, it was moments like these in which Lily debates whether she indeed married one of the most talented wizards ever, or the biggest toe-rag ever.
“Blo-”
Lily’s eyes widened as she glanced at Harry before looking back at her husband, who if you ask her is making quite the show of hopping around on one foot. Before James could finish his sentence, Lily managed to bring out her wand from under Harry’s blanket and quickly muttered a spell and sent it directly at her husband.
“Blipping, flipping clip!” James had shouted in confusion, “Slipping, ugh flip.... Lily, what the flip did you clipping do?”
“I told you, no swearing around Harry”, Lily said in between giggles as she listened to the words spilling out James’ mouth. The look on his face was priceless as he licked his lips, and closed his eyes for a moment to collect his thoughts as he did his best to ignore the way both Harry, and she were giggling uncontrollably now. Their faces-tinged pink as James continued muttering silly-obscenities as he turned and made his way out of the room.
“Dagnabbit…. Son of a monkey…. Merlin’s beard…. Flipping heck, Lily”

Flufftober 3: Thick as Thieves
Harry liked to think that he wasn't a jealous person. He liked to believe that he was level headed, that he wasn't suspicious, and that he had reasonable boundaries when it came to his boyfriend.
Unfortunately, this was patently untrue.
His mind healer would tell him that his possessive streak and jealous nature were a result of trauma. Not having his needs met as a child, not having enough of anything, manifested in his desire to keep his things to himself.
And Draco was a person, not a thing. A person whom he loved and respected, a person who he knew had bodily autonomy, which made it all the harder for him to wrap his brain around his possessiveness.
Perhaps Harry could have gone right on believing that he wasn't a jealous person, if not for the fact that Ron and Draco had started hanging out constantly, always whispering to each other.
When Harry had owled to invite Draco to lunch this afternoon, he received a short apology note back and Draco let him know that he already had plans with Ron.
In a fit of pique, Harry flooed to the Ministry and marched himself to Hermione's office for lunch. Stomping inside of her office, he set out the containers of Chicken Tikka Masala, jasmine rice, na'an, samosas, and Dal soup that he'd started preparing last night and finished this morning.
Hermione raised an eyebrow at the food, "not that I'm complaining, but what's this all about?"
"Well," Harry said as he opened the containers, "I made it for lunch with Draco but your husband is eating lunch with him so someone had to eat it."
She laughed, "It's fairly normal for them to eat together, you know," she said. "They've been Auror partners for six years."
"I know," he groaned, biting into a samosa with great satisfaction, "you're right. But I just," he shrugged miserably. "They see each other all day and I only get to see him occasionally in the evenings and when he deigns to have lunch with me."
"I think it's more than occasionally," she said, holding back an eye roll that Harry could still hear in her voice.
He huffed, "Fine," he conceded. "But he still spends all day with him."
She hummed, "Well, I'm glad for the opportunity to have lunch with you. I always enjoy your cooking."
"Good," he grumbled, "Tell Draco how good it was so he realizes what he's missing."
Hermione reached across the desk and covered Harry's hand with her own, "He loves you."
"I love him too," Harry sighed.
-------------------
Harry decided that he was going to talk to Draco that evening. It seemed only fair to have a conversation with him about what was bothering him.
So when the invitation for dinner arrived, Harry wrote back right away, agreeing.
After knocking, he waited nervously on the doorstep, tapping his fingers against his thigh. And when the door opened he almost forgot what he'd wanted to say. Draco was standing illuminated by the light of his entryway, feet bare, wearing Harry's favorite cardigan.
"Hi," he said.
"Hi yourself," Draco replied, smiling brightly at him, "come in," he added, stealing a quick kiss as Harry walked past.
Harry wandered into the living room, "Listen, before we eat, could we talk?" he asked.
"Sure," he said amiably. "I had something I wanted to ask, too," he added. "Can I go first?"
And Harry wanted to say no, wanted to just blurt and tell him that it was burning him up that he was spending so much of their free time with Ron, but he took a deep breath and nodded. "Yeah," he said. "Of course."
Draco grinned at him, then sat down on the footstool in front of Harry, "Harry," he said.
"Yeah?" he asked, heart beating just a little bit harder in his chest.
"We've been together for almost two years now-"
"Are you breaking up with me?" he asked, heart roaring in his ears, breath coming a little too short. "I can change-"
"Harry," Draco said, laying a hand on Harry's, "of course not. Just," he shook his head, "let me finish."
He nodded and waited, fidgeting a bit.
"We've been together for almost two years now, and I have been in love with you for far longer. You are the kindest, most genuine person I know. You make my life better, you make me better and I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you," he continued, pulling a small box out of his pocket and dropping to his knees on the floor. "Would you marry me?" he asked, opening the box and showing Harry a gold ring with little diamonds all around.
"What?" he whispered, eyes filling with tears, "What? I thought you were getting sick of me. I thought you were tired of spending time with me-"
"No," Draco said, brow furrowing. "Why-"
Harry wiped at his eyes, "You've been spending so much time with Ron lately-"
"Because he was helping me plan this," he said.
"Plan what?"
Draco laughed, "Say yes and I'll show you."
"Yes," he said, "Circe, Draco, of course. Yes."
And as if he'd said a spell, people started pouring into the room, all of their friends and family ready to congratulate them.
Harry kissed him, accepting the ring and sniffling as he tried to pull himself together.
"I'm sorry," Draco murmured through all of the cheering a ruckus. "I love you. I didn't mean-"
"It doesn't matter," he said, kissing Draco again. "I love you, I'm sorry I was jealous."
"I won't keep you in the dark anymore," he said. "I won't keep secrets."
And Harry's eyes welled up with tears once more. They spilled down his cheeks and he nodded, grateful for Draco's love and understanding.
"We've people to greet," Draco commented, nodding toward the room.
"Yes," he agreed. "Stay with me?"
"Always," Draco murmured, sliding his fingers through Harry's as they started around the room. "Always."

Cooking (a LoidYor vignette)
The tantalizing smell of cooking food filled the Forgers’ apartment, welcoming Yor home as warmly as a greeting from a loved one.
Her cheeks darkened at the word choice of her mind as she carefully closed the front door and hurriedly put her jacket on the nearby hook. “I’m home!” She called into the space, though she was sure at least one occupant knew of her arrival.
Two faces popped around the corner to the kitchen, Bond worfing at her in greeting and Loid smiling at her. His blonde hair, usually lightly styled, was hanging limply in front of his brows. He had taken off his suit jacket and vest, replacing them with a blue apron over his white dress shirt. The top button was undone and she assumed his sleeves would be rolled up since he was in the kitchen.
“Welcome home, Yor-san,” He greeted warmly, a smile pulling nicely over his white teeth.
“Thank you,” She replied as she walked to the kitchen doorway so he didn’t need to lean out a moment longer. Bond sat in the way of her entering the kitchen proper, but she didn’t mind. It looked (and smelled) like Loid had everything under control. She would be content to just watch him…Watching him cook, she instantly corrected her thoughts. Unless he didn’t want her to, of course. “It smells delicious! What are you making?”
Her husband turned his attention back to the stove. “I thought I’d try my hand at Chicken Tikka Masala. I’ve made a simple curry before and Anya liked it. On my way home, I saw that the market had chicken on sale and thought today would be the best time to try it out.”
Yor leaned silently against the doorframe, a soft smile pulling at her lips. He’s so attentive to what Anya likes. It’s good that he’s helping her expand her pallet. She thought as she watched him mix the orange colored sauce once before picking up a pair of oven mitts.
“Yor, can you keep Bond over there please? I need to open the oven.” Loid called, pulling her from her thoughts.
“Oh, yes!” She leaned down and wrapped her arms gently around the fluffy dog. “We mustn’t get burned, right Bond?”
The dog’s tail was wagging pretty fast, but he stayed with her until Loid finished pulling the cooked protein from the oven. Once the door closed, she released him and the hound continued to block her route. The secret assassin patted Bond’s head with a light chuckle. “Well, if it tastes half as good as it smells, I’m sure Anya will love it.” She bit her lip slightly before looking around. “Is she home yet?”
“Not yet,” Loid answered, carefully scraping the cubes of chicken into the orange sauce. “The bus should be arriving soon, though.” Placing the pan on a dish pad, he lifted his left wrist to his face, before muttering something she couldn’t quite hear.
“Would you like me to get the table ready then?” Yor asked, shifting slightly. She was sure Anya would be hungry after a long day of learning and a good meal before studying always seemed to help her.
"That would be very helpful, thank you," her husband quickly moved to another cabinet and pulled out their dishes before closing it and pulling out some utensils. The items were passed to her carefully over Bond's prone form and she found herself smiling as she walked over to the table.
As she set up their usual placements, she could see Loid moving about the kitchen once more. He worked so efficiently in the kitchen that Yor couldn't help but wonder if he had worked as a chef while attending medical school or at another time in his life. He didn't discuss his past often (or at all really) but there were…things that he did that hinted at a broader background to her dear husband.
He had secrets. Definitely not like her own, there was no way his past was as checkered as hers. He was good, both at everything he put his mind to and in how he interacted with everyone he met or came across.
Warmth spread through her chest as she watched him finish up dinner preparations and was just about to ask if she could help with anything else when the front door opened.
"ChiChi!" A precious voice called, snapping Yor out of the warm haze she found herself in. "HaHa! Bond! Anya's home!"
Yor took three quick strides and made it to the hallway where her adorable daughter stood, giggling as she received a greeting from her hound. Once Bond had finished, she held out her arms. "Welcome home, Anya!" She called with a bright smile, sweet thoughts of Loid rapidly replaced by the love for their daughter, especially when the little girl launched herself into her mother's arms. "I'm so glad to see you."
