regarding chess being an almost Olympian do you ever think about how she’s technically famous???? like 17 year old olympic hopeful. that’s 100% getting news coverage.

right???

especially bc mattie says she followed chess right up to the olympics so it's kind of implied that chess's accident was like. at the very last minute. like it wasn't at the olympics, she didn't go, but i feel like it's implied that it was the very very last minute, she was all set to go. like she probably has a wikipedia page, all her social medias are probably verified, shit like that

which then now that i think about it, it kind of puts defense into a little more perspective - like, a triple homicide would probably get a decent amount of media attention, but the murder of an almost olympian whose career and then recent career ending injury probably made her a household name??? people probably heard about chess's death nationwide, which would make cairo's plan to get the attention away from her and the other survivors make a lot more sense. like if you think about it, the murders must have not been a small town scandal, chess's involvement and death would have made it nationwide news, which is. insane.

I'm still reeling from and thinking so hard about the “You can do things without me! …You’re so good at it” from Chess to Kate because on one hand I can assume what it means but also what does that mean???!?
