Been thinking about the little post I made the other night and the lovely little responses to it, especially for Gourmand and Hunter...oh to be a big slugcat and your little partner who you try to help...

Just because I'm a sucker, they're both alive in Apricity, but they don't hang around the iterators as much as some of the other slugcats do. I think they come by regularly to make sure Hunter's condition is maintained and possibly even pushed back further, but I think it'd be really cute for them to be on a little food quest of their own to show Hunter all of the different kinds of food out in the world--and perhaps discover more! Gourmand gets severely disappointed by the fact that the iterator puppets can't eat when trying to offer NSH some food.

I think I'll be working on some full designs for these two later, but enjoy my tired doodles! I like to imagine that Gourmand is also just large in general, not just Big.

Lilypad, I think, is a good pair, although I'm not sure how romantically I see into it. Might just be my odd relationship with romance, but a queerplatonic relationship re: Lilypad seems a good descriptor for the way I'd imagine it.

NSH definitely hangs around Moon a little too much when she arrives at UI's can and ends up being too overbearing for her, too overwhelming. I think they settle into a nicer status quo--they like multitasking and working near each other in a good, comfortable quiet.

Although technically a shrub Heliotropium arborescens (heliotrope, cherry pie) is most often grown as a tender perennial. Here it has the protection of a glasshouse and is continuing to flower during the winter. The plants were filling the air with the sweet-scent of cherry pie from the clusters of deep violet-blue flowers.

Ri Shi looked around as she walked towards the hut. It was a beautiful day and yet something seemed wrong. She quickly saw what it was when she looked back at the hut and saw… Her..Self? The other and much younger Ri Shi looks up at her quietly, eyes holding surprise and fear. The older solar monkey takes a deep breath and smiles softly at her. "Hey. What are you doing here?" She asks gently, not wanting to scare the other. The younger one shrugs slightly and looks away, still silent. This saddens the older monkey who moves to sit on the steps. "Would you like to join me?" She asks, patting the steps by her.

It takes a minute or two before the younger sits on the step near her.

They sit in silence for a bit before Little Ri Shi speaks up softly. "Do things really get better like they say? It never seems like it will." She says to her older self. The other smiles sadly, understanding what she meant. She nods. "It will.. This reminds me of two times I told Macaque about those kinds of feelings." She explains, looking out at the trees in front of the hut. This catches the little one's attention who looks over, eyes holding questions and silently asking for answers.

Ri Shi smiles softly. "Let's see.. What was it I said…? I fall asleep in my own tears. I cry for the world, for everyone. And I build a boat to float in. I'm floating away. I can't recall last time I opened my eyes to see the world as beautiful. And I built a cage to hide in. I'm hiding, I'm trying to battle the night."

"W-What did he say?"

"Let love conquer your mind, Warrior. Just reach out for the light, Warrior. I am a warrior. I am a Warrior, warrior of love." She smiles softly at her counterpart before moving on to the next time she had brought it up. "I stand behind the wall of people and thoughts, mind controlling. And I hold a sword to guide me; I'm fighting my way. I can't recall last time I opened my eyes to see the world as beautiful. And I built a cage to hide in. I'm hiding. I'm trying to battle the night." She sits back, thinking about it, remembering the moment and her father's words in particular. "Let love conquer your mind, Warrior. Just reach out for the light, Warrior. I am a warrior. I am Warrior, warrior of love."

Her younger self looks down, thinking about the words. After a moment, she looks up towards the waterfall. When Ri Shi looks over, she smiles warmly at the sight of Ju Jing carrying their son in his arms with big smiles on their faces. She looks back at her younger counterpart and puts a comforting hand on her shoulder to gain her attention. "Underneath darkened skies, There's a light kept alive. Let love conquer your mind, Warrior. Just reach out for the light, Warrior. I am a warrior. I am Warrior, warrior of love." She says, smiling as she hears the other repeat, "Warrior of Love."

Just then, everything begins to turn white and fade away. She opens her eyes to see her husband's face and feel his warm arms around her. She quickly realizes what happened and smiles softly as she cups the sleeping face of the love of her life and whispers softly to herself in a warm confirmation. "Warrior of Love."

My dads favourite dessert is cherry pie 🍒 so I made cherry pie (for the first time) for his birthday

Making pie dough is getting easier and easier as I make them more often. However, I added too many cherries 😭 Although I don’t think he minded the extra cherries, next time I’ll use one can of cherries instead of two 🙃

Next, I would love to try making the filling from scratch when cherries are in season!
