Did they have crowns?

Yes, but made of flowers instead of gold.

Did they wear elegant clothes?

Yes, but they did not resemble the gowns and uniforms the aristocrats wear.

Were they travelling in a carriage?

Yes, but it was like the old farmer's at the edge of town.

No crowns, no gowns, no carriage – how could they possibly be royalty?

It's said they had the air and looks of royalty.

Really.

It's true! They were so beautiful that they could not be anything other than royalty.

How beautiful were they?

The man, the king, had a slim and tall figure with fingers like those of a composer or a poet. His long hair was the colour of liquid sunlight and adorned with many wildflowers. He wore simple brown trousers, a cream-coloured shirt, and dark brown boots. He was picking flowers and turning them into crowns when he was seen. He saw them and smiled. They say his eyes were like amber and his smile held the heat of summer.

That doesn't sound like a king!

Indeed. It certainly didn't sound like the average king, but it fit Ichigo just fine.

But he was!

What about the others?

The queen – though some say she resembles a knight more – had long hair the colour of snow and skin nearly as pale. She wore a crown made of forget-me-nots and blue morning glory.

That is a lot of blue.

Yes, and Lizzie – she knows a lot about flowers, you see – says that it represents the love the king feels for her.

Oh, how romantic.

Yes. But she is quite terrifying, you see. When the huntsmen found them, she glared at them with all the frigid cruelty of the winter wind that they were frozen in place.

Yes, that sounds like Cherī.

How terrifying! And you say she is a queen?

I believe so! It was only the gentle caress of the king that calmed her. My brother, who was part of the group, said that her blue eyes only softened when she met the king's. She didn't wear armour but she did have a sword on her hip.

I must agree with the others, that sound more like a knight than a queen!

Well, I believe she is a queen.

Were there others?

Yes, three princes. The oldest and second both had brown hair that reached their shoulders and sun-kissed skin like the king's. The youngest had the king's hair. They all had crowns of flowers and more braided in.

How old were they?

I'm not sure. My brother says the oldest appeared to be ten and was waving a wooden sword.

Did they say what their names were?

Oh, no. The huntsmen tried asking, but felt ashamed for not knowing when it became clear that the king and queen knew theirs.

Then how did they refer to them?

The same way you would refer to royalty – Your Highness or Your Majesty.

How could you refer to them like that when you do not know if they truly are royalty, the woman huffed in irritation. 

But they are! The master huntsman swears that the man is the king of summer!

What!

It's true! He saw the man making flowers grow! And he felt like summer.

You lie!

Do not! Ask my brother if you wish!

No, your brother lies as well! Leave! I do not wish to hear you tall tales anymore!

Fine! Then I shall go speak with Prue, her father had been there and saw the king in his glory.

A bit of a crack au

The house next to the Kurosaki household is bought and Yoshino Ichigo arrives with 4 of her 5 cats. It will be several months before the fifth cat and the Akao family arrive, and until then the Kurosaki have to deal with the cats who believe that their cat, Ichigo, is Strawberry while trying not to relate too much to the felines.

Characters:

Kurosaki household:

Yhwach: CEO of Quincy Corp

Zangetsu: History teacher in Karakura High school, his career is an act of rebellion against Yhwach who wanted him to work in the company, very popular because of his looks and voice

Shiro: high schooler in KH, troublemaker, loner but close with Grimmjow, a student from a rival school

Tensa: middle schooler, going through his edgy phrase

Akao-Yoshino Household:

Yoshino Ichigo (written as Strawberry): editor at Foxy Books but still helps out her mom (Noriko) and sister (Ryoko) with the restaurants; Cherī's personal editor and muse; proud owner of 5 cats, named Cherrypie after Cherī

Akao Cherī: Ichigo's cousin and best friend, writer who enjoys shipping Ichigo with most people; proud owner of Strawberry, who she named after Ichigo

Akao Nagi & Haru: parents who enjoy all of the chaos that their kids and cats bring

Kurosaki's

Ichigo (written as First Protector): orange short haired cat that the Kurosaki household adopted when she was a kitten and has them wrapped around her tail, takes her name seriously
