Writeblr Challenge - Day #5
I've been working on my main WIP for longer than I care to admit 🥴 It has to be at least ten years. Of course not actively for that entire time, but it has certainly occupied a mental tab. I'd say I was pretty serious that first year, tucked it away to work on other projects, then picked it back up at the start of the pandemic.
I remember covering a work event, but I was stationed on the other side of campus and had no visitors. To pass time, I found myself down a Wikipedia rabbit hole researching various cryptids, mythology, etc. I compiled a list of dozens, categorizing them by type and habitat. The human characters came afterwards. Honestly, I was more interested in the world of these animals (still am) and just how the humans navigated that.
Many years later, with an opportunity to slow down and unable to leave the house, I decided to revisit the story, promising to finish it. I was making excellent progress, but couldn't break the story. Characters were lacking motivation and I couldn't stick the ending. It finally clicked during a coffee date with a best friend (also excellent writer!) and I was ready. My next kick in the butt was the release of Cryptozoo during Sundance 2021 (would recommend watching!).
I fully subscribe to that concept that an idea will only stay with you for so long before it moves into another creative. That was a sign.
A few months later, our friends decided to book a cabin and I knew that I would not be leaving until I wrote the words "The End." I spent every morning at that wooden table on the porch, racing through words and pages like I never had before - and I did it! One of my proudest moments.

chayscribbles writing recap 2023!
i feel like tacky wordart kind of encapsulates how i've been feeling lately about my writing. if that makes any sense.
as you guys may or may not have noticed i've really been nonexistent around here lately. this past year has been really weird in terms of both my personal life and my creative life. i've been a lot more blocked than in the past few years and did not meet and at the point i am now it's easy to look at the past year and be disappointed. but i will force myself to see SOME positive, goddammit.
☆stats.
words written: 102 380
projects worked on: andromeda rogue, the gemini heist, and a few Secret Projects
accomplishments: finished the 2nd draft of andromeda rogue; sent said draft out for beta reading (which was fucking terrifying, btw); crocheted two sweaters (okay that's not writing but i'm really proud of them okay)
☆looking back on 2023 goals.
i dug out my recap post from last year and looked at the goals i had set at the beginning of the year (which i had completely forgot about tbh jkgfjksd), so let's see how they measured up:
to continue polishing up Andromeda Rogue (at least just the first book) with the goal of perhaps having some eyes on it by the end of the year👀 - well i certainly did get some eyes on it, so that was accomplished ✅
to continue working on The Gemini Heist, wherever that may lead me - okay so i didn't get nearly as far as i had hoped but i worked on it, didn't i? i'm checking it off ✅
to not pressure myself too much in my writing; to be kind to myself when i’m in a slump and to take regular breaks - LOL. still working on that.
to try new things and challenge myself - getting betas was challenging. not finding them but the actually making myself do it lol. let's go ahead and check that one off ✅
to have fun and be myself! 😀 - LMAO. yeah, sure, let's give that a check. ✅
☆setting new goals for 2024.
i'm gonna have only two goals but they're pretty big ones.
publish andromeda rogue by the end of the year, assuming editing through beta comments doesn't kill me first.
this isn't writing but i'd really like to open an online shop for my art, i think it would be an interesting venture. i got a cricut machine for christmas so there might be stickers in my future 👀
so that's all my rambling! hope you guys have a wonderful 2024!!! <3

#FridayKiss Tag Game!!!
Tagging: @faelanvance @ladywithalamp @reowrites @chazzawrites @blueinkblot and @thanatostouch (no pressure!)
I was tagged by @bebewrites so have Enoch and Shio’s first kiss~
“I…” Enoch began, his eyes moving from her eyes to her lips and back, “...accept your oath.”
There it was. No matter what happened now, Enoch was her king. She would keep this oath. She would honor it. She would not lose anyone else.
She kissed him once, lightly on the mouth. It was not meant to be anything more than an act of ceremony. A gesture blending Heng and Mavronian custom into one.
Shio had been kissed before. Cal was the first, a young Zenith boy who had done so when they were little more than children, play acting at love. There was Shugen when she was seventeen. They had spent seasons stealing away in shadowed corners, trading touches and kisses where no one could see. There had been Nikola too, cold and obliging, leaving her shivering and not in that tingling pleasant way she had heard other girls describe. Innocent. Safe. Passionless. That is how Shio would have described them each.
None of those words could express what kissing Enoch felt like.
It was as if she had broken the dam. The second kiss spilled forward in a rush as they both met in the middle. It was every hot rush of adrenaline before a sword-fight. It was the heart-pounding mix of fear and power Shio had felt when she challenged him the first time, a memory that felt a lifetime ago.
Their lips slid from one kiss into the next, and the next, until her tongue was curled behind his teeth and his arms were locked around her. Enoch was everywhere. His sphere engulfing and somehow still sharing the same space as her own. She felt his influence pull through her veins, sliding through the valves of her heart as if he were memorizing every beat, every breath.
This…
Either from sensing her tension or for need of breath, Enoch drew back.
“... this is a terrible idea,” he whispered, awed. Somehow he was once again speaking aloud what she too was thinking.
“Yes,” Shio said, feeling the thunder of his pulse in time with her own. There was a pleasant tingling on her lips, a warmth curling and lancing through her core– a sharp pang. It was nice– distracting. It was hard to think of anything else when she was full with this feeling. She didn’t want to think of anything else. He held her face in his hands and brought her near again— so close when he spoke his lips brushed hers.
“…Do you want me to stop?”
“No.”
“Are you cer—“
She kissed him— or rather bit him. Catching his bottom lip with an impatient nip. Whatever resolve Enoch had left faltered.

Introducing: a writeblr challenge!
Hi there! For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Chazza, and I’ve been in the writeblr community for a few months now. My main blog is a studyblr, and during my time in that community I’ve seen and/or participated in several challenges. Therefore, I thought it might be fun to have a writeblr one too! The idea is that you answer a question per day in a post (which can be another post or one specifically made to answer the question). Hopefully, it’ll help to bring the community together, share details of your writing and allow us to get to know each other :) This challenge will start on Monday, 15th March 2021. If you want to join, please either reblog this post (would be much appreciated to spread the word!) or send me an ask to let me know. When you post, tag them with “#chazzawrites challenge”! I hope it doesn’t flop and that you enjoy participating!
The questions (daily for 30 days)
1. Introduce yourself

3. Introduce your main WIP
4. Who is your favourite character from your main WIP?
5. How long have you been working on your main WIP?

8. Who is your favourite character from your secondary WIP (alternatively: who is your 2nd favourite character from your main WIP?)
9. How long have you been working on your secondary WIP? (alternatively: what’s your oldest project?)
10. What excites you the most about your secondary WIP? (alternatively: what else excites you about your main WIP?)

16: What’s more important to you?  Plot, characters, or worldbuilding?
I’m a firm believer in the “First, make a gay little man; then, give him a problem” school of narrative construction.  My process goes something like: characters + worldbuilding = plot.
When I try to put my focus on the plot, it just . . . doesn’t work.  I can only write well when I’ve crafted myself a sandbox to play in and populated it with fun little guys.  I create conflict which metastasizes into a Plot by giving those fun little guys some interesting problems.
For instance, when I wrote The Last Girl Scout, I did not say to myself, “What if there was a story where such-and-such happened...”  I instead said to myself, “There is a really tall lady with big red hair and a big gun who lives in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.  She probably has a girlfriend.  I bet her girlfriend is super fucked up.”  And the rest just sort of snowballed from there.

chazza's 30 day writeblr challenge
hello this is chazza's 30 day writeblr challenge that i didn't do yesterday so i'll do two today ig
day 1: introduce yourself
uh so hihihi my name is pauch (she/they). my main account is @/duckorrabbit. i live in california, usa. i joined tumblr like a month ago and i have no idea how any of this shit works so uh yeah. i enjoy playing piano and taking long, pointless walks.
my hobbies are drawing, reading, piano, uke, vibing to indie artists on spotify, and writing (tbh i do more daydreaming and extensively planning out story ideas in my head than actual writing, and i rarely get anything done).
i also like to rant about books to my friends and read rants about books and goodreads. mm, so productive, i know.
things about me: - i hate acotar. that series makees me so maaaaaaad - ANIME IS LIFE AA aAAAAAAA - hufflepuff or slytherin, idk - sagittarius - infj apparently - i just read we were liars and i have so many (bad) things to say about it - i freak out whenever i feel like im going to be late to something. like if i'm supposed to get to a doctor's appointment in 15 minutes and my mom is taking a moment to take a piss i start panicking even though i'm probably not gonna be late. - tea. tea. tea tea TEA tea tea tea tea TEAA IS SO GOOOOOOOOOD
day 2: how long have you been writing?
mmm, i think i've been writing since i was about third or fourth grade, i can't quite recall.
in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, i'd just make tons of google docs with my friends, writing fanfiction of percy jackson, harry potter, the shadowhunter books that i forgot the name of, etc, with overpowered ocs and mary sues/gary stus. it was horrible and amazing.
then in 6th grade i started to write by myself because i went to a different middle school than my friends, and that's when i started to actually put in some effort.
i made a wattpad account (@pauchok_07) and started an applyfic thing and im still working on the first chapter because i love procrastidancing.

chazzawrites challenge #3 - introduce your main wip
For the past months, my main wip has been Cosmopolitan, a novel consisting of historical fiction and elements of drama, comedy, romance and crime.
what is it about?
basically there’s this guy named Alex (actually Lord Alexander Arthur Edward Harris) who comes home from wwi and is like. really traumatised. i mean he’s just 19 in the beginning.
his fiancée (he met her in France where she was working as a nurse) won’t answer his letters which doesn’t make it any better
so when he discovers that his aristocratic family bores him to death, he goes to London and becomes the most ✨dazzling✨ of the good-for-nothings that hang around the Cosmopolitan Café, the most nefarious place in London
also champagne. And countless affairs bc why not (he literally has no money and always scrounges everything from his friends, but he’s so charming that no one can hold it against him)
but actually just looking for idk. True love and acceptance i guess? AND the most important thing: escaping from boredom
themes:
lgbtq+ cast (1920s England was gayer than you think)
dark humour and sarcasm
soulmates
love of chocolate
drama™️
finding one’s place

Chazzawrites Challenge
1. Introduce yourself:
Hi! I’m Mara, a 25 year old aspiring writer.
I’m new to writeblr and I use it as a tool to remind myself to write, make art and create content, since I was always interested in, but never allowed myself to indulge in it, because “I should be doing something productive.” Now, in my quarter life crisis, I have decided to not give an absolute fuck about what I “should” be doing and chose to do whatever makes me happy.
My writeblr it’s also a way to keep track of my writing progress and what I’ve been reading.
I have another blog in which I post writing advice and other nonsense if anyone is interested @dishonest-atmosphere.
Random facts about me:
I’m latina.
I Love dogs.
In addition to writing I love drawing, painting and modern calligraphy.
I do yoga.
I’m an Aquarius.
My favorite shows are Friends and Avatar the last Airbender.

Writeblr Challenge - Day #2
The first thing I remember writing was a story about three friends attending a magical school under threat of an evil force (sound familiar?). I was a little middle schooler, filling these 3.5"x5.5" notebooks on the floor of my bedroom.
In those early days, I'd just take an already existing story and turn it into my own. I'd write an entire season of Digimon, but with new characters, or a fictionalized version of The Challenge, but with my friends and family as characters. There was "Down to Earth," which essentially re-imagined The Real World, but with high school students. I was taking what I knew and just writing that. It wasn't until college that I started to develop new ideas and use my experience as inspiration, rather than verbatim source material.
While I managed to salvage the Digimon illustrations and one "Down to Earth" installment, it's sad to think that everything else is lost. They're either on some old computer or floppy disk (what are those!) undoubtedly trashed in the many moves over the years.
Maybe they'll turn up one day. Who knows?
Post inspiration - Introducing: a writeblr challenge!

14/30: Have you ever been published?
Well!  I released my first novel last year and I’m gonna be releasing a short fiction collection at the end of the month.  Which is I must say very exciting.
Both are self-published.  I went that route for a couple of reasons, but mostly because querying agents & markets is Very Very Very Scary and I’m not sure if I have the chops for it and because I’m pretty sure shopping around for an agent who would ever touch the kinds of stuff I write would prolly take some time.  It wasn’t that hard to do once I found a cover artist and formatter, and so far I’ve been pretty successful for an up-and-comer.  Which has been my dream ever since I was a little girl, golly <3
If u were wondering:  The novel, The Last Girl Scout, is a post-apocalyptic wasteland adventure transbian romance door-stopper, and the short fiction collection, Lead and Roses: Love Songs at the End of the World is 4 short stories and 1 novella set in the world of The Last Girl Scout.  Check it out if you’re into overwhelmingly queer character ensembles, irradiated wastelands, spooky draculas, and happy endings.

ChazzaWrites Writeblr Challenge (Info here)!
[Day 1]---Introduce yourself!
Hello! I’m Roman Lee (my pen name), but I also go by Rome or Valentine! I am very new to writeblr. I did have an account a few months ago, but wasn’t in the right mind space to fully have an account. But now I’m just learning, kind of jfdskl
I am a minor, a-spec (acearo agender) and use any pronouns. I’m very energetic and overuse exclamation points sometimes. I also think I’m very funny; whatever I write always ends up being light-hearted for whatever reason. I very much relate to Roman Sanders (Sanders Sides), Tom Haverford (Parks and Rec), and Agnes (WandaVision).
I adore reading anything that tells a story. Mystery, horror, comedy, romance, science-fiction, adventure--I really can’t decide a favorite genre! I always enjoy when I can tell that the creator put thought into foreshadowing and technique to tell a good story, and when it pushes the boundaries of what I know.
I’ve always been interested in film and analyzing it. While I’ve been learning to see symbolism and film techniques for a few years now, the first cinematic media I really first took notes on was WandaVision. While it was fun to do, my notes definitely didn’t age well, haha. But I’ve always wondered the process that a film goes into, and how it gets made and written.
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, but only just branched out into screenwriting around a month or two ago. I mainly write comedy and drama, but I also write horror, supernatural/science fiction, and psychological thriller! I always involve lgbtq+ rep in my works, as well.
I’m in the process of figuring out how to publish my work through a blog due to the specific formatting I need for scripts.
Definitely, I am excited to be here!

DAY TWO: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WRITING FOR? (×)
hi, hello!
so, uh, i’ve been writing since i was thirteen. and now that i’m thinking about those days, i can’t help but cringe at myself. i mean, i like to think i have great concepts but my writing? L O L
back then i only write fanfictions (i still do, sort of) but eventually, i started to write about my originals characters. i still have my fanfiction wips here and sometimes i go through them to see if i’ve improved. and i think i did.
have a great day/night!
