watching two dozen interviews of wes ball talk about how he made the maze runner movies is genuinely such a pleasure to watch. it's so so clear that he deeply loves the content of the maze runner books while still understanding that they're fucking insane and makes next to no sense. the vision he has for the movies are unparalleled, the way he slims down the books while still upping the character moments is so impressive!! he was able to capture the heart of the series while still making it really accessible to a general audience. it has a clear trilogy feel to it, which a lot of trilogies do NOT have. and the best part is the cast LOVES him, you can tell just by the way they describe and poke fun of wes that this project would NOT work without him. also the way the cast NEVER talks about dashner is so fucking good. they're like 'omg there's wes, the genius, doing a one man show haha so silly, ily wes' and then it hard cuts to someone being like 'james is on set a lot.'

hold on I just remembered that I sent you, like, an essay on Karai Being Cool Actually I'm So Smart And Impartial while I was recovering from dentist anesthesia the other night. but I don't know what was actually in it. like my memory's garbage even when I'm not high. so like,, what did I say????? was it coherent or did I just kinda cry about her in your inbox lmao
Imma just copy and paste it all for you:
tbh I like how stubborn Karai is; in my mind, it's a core character trait, right up with Raph's anger issues (emotional disregulation and lack of healthy coping skills), Don's... creepiness (communication problems, fear of rejection, and lack of role models to teach him how healthy relationships work), Leo's reckless self-sacrificial streak (BIG time parentification and self-esteem reliant on perceived worth to others), and the messy, conflicted emotional rollercoaster that is April's life (idc what the writers were trying to do, she is SO accurate to how it feels growing up autistic as a girl shouldered with unreasonable expectations). Sometimes the most interesting thing about a character is what's "wrong" with them, and... Personally, I have kind of a nihilistic view on people, so that's what I tend to focus on, as the starting point from which they can grow as individuals and learn to deal with their issues. To me, Karai's stubbornness and repeated "obvious" mistakes read as her desperately trying to maintain control and comfort in an unfamiliar situation that isn't getting better and will never be what she used to know and has adapted to survive in. It will get better eventually, sure, but she doesn't know that. To make matters worse, after everything that happened with her adoptive father, her ability to trust her elders who could warn her of what's ahead has been compromised, whether she acknowledges it or not; essentially, this means she has to find out everything the hard way before it sticks, and even then, it might just be a fluke, so she still might not get it the first few times. Soon, it becomes a pattern. There is a certain level of comfort in knowing you are wrong and will be hurt for it, if that's what you think you deserve. It's... Familiar, I guess? It feels very real, when you've been through a similar process of fighting your own growth and healing, especially at that age. So personally, although it is frustrating, I think it makes sense this way because that feeling of frustration is the point, y'know? It's ugly, it's uncomfortable, and it is so earnestly human.

This scene is so hilarious. Payu and Rain have been cockblocked once again 🤭
And Prapai's audacity to use Payu's weeks old injuries as an excuse to fish info about the one night stand he had from Rain (bec thats the only thing he knows about his one night stand, lmao). Prapai is so arrogant and so full of himself. I love him already.
Also, am i the only one who noticed how Prapai's dress pants are like second skin to him??? Are dress pants supposed to be that tight??? Im just asking bec i have a difficult time looking respectfully if his thighs are in full view. 👀
Payu and Rain's locking eyes is sending me bec they obviously want to throw Prapai out so they can be alone. Lmao 🤣🤣🤣

The most annoying thing to come out of Namor being in the mcu is all those " I DON'T LIKE NAMOR IN THE COMICS" people.
As if I needed reminding there is a whole subset of comic fans determined to hate Namor ON SIGHT the second he shows up in a comic because they can't handle how mean and bitchy he is.
I'm not sorry Namor handed your fave characters ass to them! In fact I laugh! Because it's funny to see him be a total jerk to them!

I hate all of george Lucas' alterations of the original trilogy so much. The cgi and actors. This idea of "updating" the effects (looks weightless and barely like a modern video game, i know i have a trained eye but still, no shade to the vfx artists) and retroactively correcting casting that worked fine, and making these versions the mainly sold ones and easiest to access ? Kill him with fire and give me back my old vfx, commit to the casting, I should be able to easily buy a DVD of what the movie looked like when it came out in theaters actually

I know I am very obviously an Astarion Liker but I am also Team Wyll and Team Lae'zel so hard. I love them both so much. I am running Wyll and Lae'zel in my durge run and it's. so fun. Wyll is down so bad for Lae'zel. Dude same. I had to turn her down this run and it felt horrid/guaranteed I'd be running a third character. I love all these characters so much
