Domaystic 2022 - Day 19 - Managing Expenses Fandom: Harry Potter Series/AU: The Soul’s Scream (chapter 20 spoilers)

Hadrian resisted the urge to rub at his temples. From what he was hearing, this did not bode well. 

Of course his Suite wouldn’t be sticking to the usual cage fights and ranked duels between Gheyos. They had to go the extra step and choose duels that Hadrian himself would have chosen in his youth, before he had a Circle under his responsibility, before the Cunninghams even. 

At least the winnings were decent for those types of fights. More than decent, actually. It would definitely help in the long run. Hadrian had yet to see the Circle’s finances, but outfitting and maintaining a full Suite was not cheap.

And at least half of his Suite had expensive preferences. Customized armor, Elven armor, titled armor—maybe he should convince Theo to give him responsibility over the Gheyo accounts, when the Circle started to talk about finances. Have the accounts be entirely separate, so Hadrian wouldn’t have to try and justify the expenses. 

Yeah, Hadrian was definitely going to ask to manage the Gheyo expenses, he decided as the rest of the Suite started speaking up and pointing out the types of duels they had participated in the past. Because not only would he not have to justify the expenses for basic necessities like armor, but because there would be less scrutiny over the winnings and income coming in. If you knew what to look for, a lot could be learned by how much money a specific Gheyo came in. 

And Hadrian wasn’t quite sure he wanted Theo knowing exactly what kind of fights everyone would be participating in. 

No, he definitely didn’t.

Like like!!!! We don't have a timeline on when Bonnie and Nille ran away from home, but it HAS to be when Bonnie was really young. Bonnie doesn't seem to remember their parents well at all, and the most we hear about them is that they were "mean". So like!!!! Depending on how old you see Bonnie (10-12ish) and how young you think the two ran away, that could range from 5 to 9 years give or take.

Thats!!!! A range!!! At the oldest Nille (say 24) she was 18 or 19 when the two ran away, which is an adult but still pretty young, but the youngest range????? Hello??? If Nille is 19 now, she could have been as young as 11 when she took Bonnie!!!! What!!!!

I don't think that's the case, but still??? If we take the average of those two, Nille would be 16!!! 16!!!!! And taking care of her sibling basically on her own!!! Nille is a kid who had to grow up too fast and take on the world to make sure Bonnie and her could survive!!! Nille's probably been fighting a good chunk of her life for their happiness and that doesn't even ACCOUNT for the abuse their parents messed her up with. And then after EVERYTHING basically sacrificed herself so Bonnie could have a chance to live from the King's Curse!!!!!

And after all that!!!! Suddenly, she's offered protection from 4 random adults who also adore her sibling and want to take care of the both of them??? What do you do with that??? Do you even BELIEVE that??? Can you even trust that someone else than you could be trusted with your baby sibling? That you can let someone else take that responsibility. The responsibility that you took on with your whole heart and soul to the point you made sure that even if you basically DIED for all that mattered, at least Bonnie would have a chance.

You've been asleep for months and woken up in a new reality where you're not your sibling's whole world anymore. They've changed. You weren't there for it. These people Iove Bonnie so much. But do they know them as much as you do??? They weren't there all this time!!! You should know your sibling better than anyone here!!!

And yet. Yet...

You don't know what to make of this. You're happy Bonnie's safe. You're terrified you don't recognize the new parts of them that have shown up without you being there.

Your sibling lives in a whole new world now. They love you. They would come back to it just being the two of you if you pushed it.

love how there was such a mystery built up about ai and who she was, how she thought and her history, but the real mystery is nothing. theres nothing because ai hoshino was just a hurt, abused, ordinary girl. there is no grand legend, no dark secret backstory. all the drama, the secrets and the lies that persist in the wake of her sudden death and all of the effort that everyone including her own children go through to try figure out just who ai hoshino was...the truth is she was simply a frail girl. and she only ever wanted people to recognize that in her and love her for it.

okay i think this is about to be an unpopular opinion but…. these two are like 2 sides of the same coin to me. beyond the shared public safety allegiance, they both violate denji's autonomy (yoshida stripping him to his underwear, tying him up, and threating his family in chapter 132 vs fumiko assaulting him in the movie theater in chapter 136) and work against his own best interest for the sake of the government. however, while they both take action in trying to force denji to do what they want, fumiko takes a more directly active role in the space of the fanatic who can't see/ doesnt care about the human behind her idol, whereas yoshida takes the more passive role of the government drone who wont act to protect the human if it means going against orders. in previous chapters, fumiko actively runs away from denji, leaving him to fight for himself, while yoshida passively tells denji that he isnt allowed to protect himself, putting him in harms way in his own right (and there is still the underlying threat of violence there if he tries to protect himself). even in the panels from this chapter, we see fumiko being active about her disregard for denji's well being by asking for little pieces of him, where yoshida is more passive in his disregard of the plan to dismember denji with a simple "yeah" answer. i know that they also have their differences, but i just think that they share intentional similarities (that other characters, particularly in the chainsaw man church, also share!!) that overall lead to denji getting hurt.
