So with this information, while not a surprise is still maddening, I wonder if they’ll ever touch upon the shooting again should buddie become romantic? Idk if that makes sense but if we’re correct and the end of s4 was supposed to lead to buddie, I wonder if they’ll have Eddie say something like “I lied about not remembering what happened after I got shot” or like Buck mentioning something? It would drive us all insane but idk if they’ll ever point to it as like a romantic thing that it probably was supposed to be
I have always taken the position that the reason they weren’t following up on/meaningfully addressing the shooting/the will/the question of what Eddie’s heart wants/all the things that people have complained about them “forgetting” is because you can’t address them without getting into the fact that (at a minimum) Eddie is in love with Buck. So I do expect those things to come up again in some capacity when it’s time.

Tumblr media
for reference jim’s room has some photos and a plant so we can surmise this is uniquely a spock being a dramatic weirdo thing

Meta: SNW's Chapel doesn't fix her character in TOS, it makes it worse.
I see people blaming any and all criticism of the writing and development for Christine Chapel on misogyny. But if anything, I feel like a full defense of her characterization is worse.
If SNW's interpretation is truly who Christine is, TOS tells us her wings are clipped. She becomes desperate, pines for years for a man who no longer returns her affections, loses her self-confidence and power. Retconning Nurse Chapel into this fiery, war-time, fighting badass with flirtatious energy and commitment issues makes her look utterly regressed in TOS, a mere shell of her former self that never returns.
She is nervous, quiet, keeps to herself, no longer fights, doesn't go after what she wants. Confined to sickbay, forever lonely. Is her development on SNW supposed to be some kind of win? Because to me it looks like they changed who she is into someone she's not, and damaged her more in the process, underscoring all the mistakes TOS made with her rather than railing against them. They could have given us Christine Chapel who was quietly competent, intelligent, kind, gentle, all the traits she still had in TOS but with real development, but they just had to make her into someone whose personality seems utterly destroyed by TOS. I find no enjoyment in that. I'm not going to celebrate that when they could have given us a new, original character to be that badass fighter.

hi! fun reminder that kristen's bedroom is canonically in the chapel of cassandra :) just thought to remind you of that. surrounded by her efforts and lack thereof. what's the state of her room, again? she focused enough to take care of it?

Princess Tutu Tarot Cards: Part 1!
Tumblr media
↑ End of a Cycle • Beginnings • Change
↓ Fear of Change • Holding On • Stagnation
[ID: a mock tarot card labeled death of Fakir lying dead with his hands clasped over his sword. He wears a white shirt which is starkly contrasted by a large, bloody wound slicing his chest in half along his birthmark. The Prince and the Raven book is tucked in his arm. He is underwater, and skulls are faintly visible between the kelp that tangles around him. End ID]

When you wake up next to him in the middle of the night
With your head in your hands, you're nothing more than his wife
And when you think about me, all of those years ago
You're standing face to face with "I told you so"
You know I hate to say it, I told you so
You know I hate to say, but I told you so

Unfinished Business -> things that Eddie never looked at too closely or talked about again = the will and the shooting. I’m feeling unwell and slightly feral.
The will, the shooting, and the "make sure you're following your heart, not Christopher's" of it all, yeah! I'm trying so hard not to get too attached to a specific outcome, but the potential for 7x09 to be a 4x13 redux seems so high that it's making me feel like I need to be sedated.

i am still deeply annoyed by the t'pring/spock/chapel love triangle in snw. why did they make t'pring and spock have an established relationship when in tos it was pretty obvious that they didn't really have any before amok time. why did t'pring and spock go on a break only for spock and chapel to immediately hook up. why are spock and chapel together when tos made it pretty clear it was one-sided and the series never said that they were exes.

Half-formed thought here, but. Usually in my mind I assume that the topic of Abigail goes almost completely unspoken between Will and Hannibal post-canon, but... man. What if they were even more unhinged about it than that. Like, what if they displayed a massive portrait of her on the mantlepiece or something, as a symbol of Will getting Hannibalpilled and buying into the idea that her death was a sad but inevitable consequence of the force of nature that is Hannibal. And then everyone who visited the house assumed she was just a beloved relative of one of them or something, without knowing anything about the details of how she died (or even that she was dead). And whatever murder buddies/protégés/frenemies/pseudo-children/sexy little thirds/[whatever unholy combination of those things] Will and Hannibal acquired would piece together some very idealized understanding of her as the Perfect Dead Sister-Daughter that they could never measure up to, whose ghostly presence hangs over them... and then coming to the very macabre discovery that Hannibal was the one who killed her! I think that'd be neat.

okay, here i come with my christine defense bc i already see christine criticisms, yet nothing about spock.
was christine wrong for not telling spock about the fellowship sooner? yes, but there was only a few hours between christine finding out she got accepted and spock asking her about the fellowship!
but spock is not blameless in this episode either!
spock acted entitled. first, he was noisy about christine's private files even though he knew it was unethical. second, he pressured christine into talking right after he and uhura decided to heighten someone's feelings as an experiment.
knowing how useless her defense mechanisms would be in that musical universe, he basically forced her into baring her soul and vulnerabilities!
he did that in front of their friends and strangers, completely disregarding christine's needs for privacy.
that was manipulative, pushy and absolutely not the way you act with someone who has emotional issues due to their war trauma.
we can say that both christine and spock were written out of character without any misogynistic double standards!
