I remember being told a tale of a rabbit whom would appear to woodsmen at night and offer them a banana branch in exchange for their axe. If they accept and give it the axe, the rabbit would chop the banana branch in half and give the other half to the woodsman, if they don't, the logs the woodsman had chopped would rot the next morning.
