Back to my sort-of Medieval Charter Challenge, and here we have the peasant Feathers family, single father Brent and his daughter Jemima.
They're poulterers and have some chickens and ducks.
Brent's immediate thoughts turned to matrimony, as his toddler really needed a mother figure. Theodosia Day from the Almshouse showed a lot of interest in little Jemima. However it is single peasant mother Rosemary Wilde who has grabbed Brent's attention.
A sudden freak lightning bolt did nothing but cause a greater spark between them!
And so, to make an honest woman of her, and because their foraging business is very successful, Brent and Jemima moved into the Wilde household and took Rosemary's name.
Now that's one busy 2-room hovel! Next time we'll meet the peasant Farmer family.

Saw this post, realized it had major Mom Can't Cook energy, and then proceeded to draw Luke and Andy talking about a feature in the next iPhone update.

Today we are visiting the other single mom's household, but this one should be easier in that there is only one kid and no pregnancy. But also no extra maternity income, so Shime Yu will have to open her fishmonger's. This is also the last chance to fish before winter, unless I decide to give her the Sun&Moon ice fishing. Unfortunately, the pond froze when it was still fall, so Shime didn't get to fish much.
She got lucky with the ROS at least - she just needed to throw a party. I rolled to see which party it should be and it turned out to be a 'baptism', so a birthday party for her baby was the perfect choice. I don't think baptism would be accurate for this region, but the Yu family is very close to water, so performing some water ritual would make sense for them.
Having her monk-husband over was probably a very awkward encounter for her. But maybe the father wanted to make sure their baby is of the same belief. Shime is n o t having her kid taken to the monastery, though.
This ROS was actually perfect for her, because Shime had been wishing to have a party for some time... I find it very interesting she started out with this want, even though she is not a Popularity sim (and she's also extra shy). The same thing happened with Fumi Tian, a Family sim (but at least that sim is outgoing).
~*~
Sangen is a Gemini and he's quite different from both of his parents. He's max Outgoing, as opposed to his max Shy parents. He's 3 Grouchy, while his parents are 7/8 Nice. But he's also max Active, and his parents are 7/8 Active, too. He's 6 playful (his mom is 8 Playful). And he's 6 Neat (his dad is 9 Neat).
Because of the birthday cake age up, Sangen started off with one less day as a toddler, so I later gave him this day back and he managed to learn all his toddler skills and he was taught how to sing the Nursery Rhyme. He will become a child at the very beginning of the next round, just like Yong Siew.
~*~
Shime bought 2 more daisy bouquets and 2 wildflower bouquets... I sold the daisies, because she doesn't need 4 of the same flower pot in this house.
She opened her store on one day this round and she managed to get her store to rank 1. She also got the Bronze Sales badge. She earned 916$.
500$ - rent
366$ - tax
92$ - tithe
She needs to pay 958$ + 886$ for the last round. I rounded it down for her to 1800$.

New NPC unlocked! Breena Treewind is a wood nymph who resides in the pine forest in the eastern mountain range in Lindenwood. She is a Pleasure aspiration, a Capricorn, and her traits are Cat Person, Clumsy, Vegetarian, Party Animal, Green Thumb, and Fairy.
Breena has a jaguar named Lilith who helps to protect her from unwanted visitors.
Those who befriend Breena will be able to visit her fairy fountain once per season to get rare and valuable items that they would not normally have access to. Breena will only show up on community lots.
The Fairy NPC isn't in the official rules of the MCC, but ever since I saw that Letsplaywithfir3 did this in her Medieval Charter Challenge on YouTube, I always add a fairy to my MCC now 😄

I hope you all had happy holidays!
We are starting my vague interpretation of a town placed somewhere between Shang Simla and Takemizu Village at the Lao lot. The first thing to do after moving in is planting a tree and starting a garden. I soon learn Haru's One True Hobby is Nature, while Mazu's is Music&Dance.
I decided to play these sims more MCC-style, which means ROS is in order! I thought that they would get off easily this time, as they were rolled to get an instrument, but they couldn't afford the Chinese instrument I got, so I had to reroll and they managed to survive a potentially deadly roll. I will be saving their money for an instrument, especially that Mazu is a virtuoso.
~*~
They started their lives in spring, and Haru was absolutely enamored by his wife Mazu. He took her on three dates, and I'm pretty sure he wanted to have a baby, but I must have unlocked the want at some point...
Mazu gave birth to a baby boy Hisashi and they both survived. The firstborn son will die as an adult. I'm not rushing any more babies after the first one for now, but I'll allow each family to have 2-3.
~*~
It was actually quite hard managing them, as I only had them prepare the single plate ramen dish [for ramen replacement go here, and to be able to cook it on a stove here]. Mazu had to cook it first for her husband and then for herself at every mealtime. They also didn't have fresh ingredients, and Mazu didn't even get to level 1 cooking.
I am also using the cheapest beds, which have worse stats than tents. I feel like I'm really back to peasant-level hardships (even if they are allowed by me to craft flowers; I also read that artisans were valued less than peasants in China, so I don't feel bad about giving them this job).
~*~
They started with 25.000$, and spent ~20.000$ on just the house with exterior decorations. They used the rest to furnish the house and start their florist's.
The Lao family got the bonsai and the flower arranging station. Hazu made 22 flower arrangements and he was 'officially recognized as an artisan' (Arts&Crafts Hobby Instructor came to shake his hand). He also got the Bronze Flower Arranging Badge. I have a couple of flower recolors and a flower pot replacement, as well as a flower arranging station replacement. I put flowers on a display case.
Because I have no townies in my town, I had to allow playables to shop. I do have the household funds of the original families written down just in case.
When they opened the business, they had 454$ in the bank, and they ended up with 864$. They earned 410$ for 10 bouquets, and even got to rank 2 and got a good review. They only had their business open for one day this round. According to MCC rules, if I treated them as peasants they would need to pay:
500$ - rent
164$ - tax (40%)
41$ - tithe [not sure if that would apply in that area]
Paying 700$ seems doable for now. They may have to sell harvestables once they get some, too.
