Party in the USA
Hey guys, It's @leelee10898.Ive been MIA from CGW for a while, I miss it so much.. In light of the 4th of July, ive thrown together some squad shenanigans for ya!! I tried my damndest to get this finished yesterday, but no luck... I did a super fast edit, so im sorry, but this shit is gonna be flawed lol.. enjoy.
Tumblr media
The Royal Jett touched down in Dulles international airport as the girls squealed in their seats. It was 4th of July weekend and they were excited to share it with their men, since not one of them had ever celebrated the extremely patriotic American Holiday.  "Nothing says 4th of July like celebrating in our nation's capital." Anitah beamed as she stepped off the plane, joining the group who already exited. "Well, you're the queen of Cordonia now, she is your Nation now Love." Liam grinned as he kissed her cheek. "Um no offense Liam, but this will always be our nation." Alicia butted in. "Yeah, 'Merica!" Genevieve pumped her fist. "Merica?" Liam whispered to Drake "yeah. Short for America. Just, go with it Li." Drake shook his head. Pam laughed at her friends "ok Ladies, how about we get settled and go find something to get into."
They opted to rent a house instead of a hotel so they could grill and chill the proper way. "Oh shit, there's a pool, I can't even wait to jump in that later." Alicia smirked as she winked at Leo. "Clothing optional love?" He smirked as Liam rolled his eyes. "Why are you two always naked every trip we take?" Liam huffed as the two shrugged. "Well, we could just start right now." Leo began tugging at his shorts.  "NO!" the group resounded. "Hey guys, I seen a huge fireworks tent down the street. We should go check it out." Maxwell walked outside where the group had converged, a glass of purple liquid in hand. "Maxwell, what do you have there?" Drake eyed him suspiciously. "Just some punch." He shrugged, giving the girls a look.
One by one the girls made their way inside sneaking drinks of maxwell's punch. Once they reached a nice buzz they decided to venture off into DC. They watched a parade, sampled some summertime staples including funnel cake and deep fried oreos. There was a carnival being held and they would have a fireworks display at night fall. "Oh! The zipper. I loved that ride."  They eyed the caged ride "how's your tummy feeling Gen?" Pam gave her a look. "It's good, let's do this shit!"
"Are you sure darling? This doesn't look safe." Rashad voiced his concern.  "Psh, safe shamafe. This shit is indestructible,it's probably like 40 years old." Anitah snorted.
"Yeah because everyone wants to ride a 40 year old death trap. No thanks Brooks." Drake held up his hands and shook his head. "Its ok Drake, I think the ferris wheel is calling our names." Pam winked at her husband,  who then adjusted his pants.
Rashad looked at Genevieve, and then to the zipper swallowing audibly she took his hand and led him towards the ride. "It's gonna be ok Rashad.  Do it for America." She smiled at him.
Maxwell had already been strapped in the seat and moved up Liam and Anitah also already on the ride in a cart halfway up. "Ok this doesn't seem to bad love." Liam leaned back as they slowly made their way up letting others on. "Oh it's great. Just wait until we really get going." She smirked. Liam arched his brow "what does that mean,my queen?"
"So how does this work exactly?" Leo asked Alicia. "Well, we basically go around in a circle, and flip upside down, a lot. You don't have a weak stomach do you Leo?"
"No. I can handle it. Liam on the other hand, he's going to puke or scream. Maybe both." He chuckled. "My money's on both.  Anitah is going to laugh at him." Alicia giggled.
"You know Love, thing we haven't done yet." He gave her the signature Rhys smirk "oh. Shit. Leo." She jerked as she felt his long fingers slip between her legs.
"Gen, love. I'm not so sure about this. Why does it move like that?" Rashad began to panic. "It's supposed to move like that. Just calm down,  it's gonna be so much fun." She patted his leg. "It's supposed to sound like it needs 4 quarts of oil on the rickety old Metal?" Genevieve let out a high pitched squeal. "This is going to be so much fun. If you piss your pants, I will laugh at you." Suddenly the ride jerked and picked up speed, their cart reached the top as it flipped over. Rashad let out a long girlish scream as they plummeted upside down towards the ground.
"Oh my god. Oh my god im gonna diiiiie." Liam screamed as Anitah laughed uncontrollably.  She wasn't sure if it was the thrill of the ride, or Liam's girlish screams but she was definitely enjoying herself. "Oh god. Noooooo. Help me!" He screamed again, joining Rashad in fear stricken symphony.
The ride came to an end Liam ran to the nearest trash can, head inside as he puked.  "Told you he would puke." Leo laughed as Anitah stood next to her husband, giving him a sympathetic pat on the back as the other hand gave him bunny ears for a photo.
A dizzy Rashad stumbled off the ride "see baby. That wasn't so bad." Genevieve looked at Rashad who was pale faced. "That was." He retched  "I just…" His hand flew over his face as he bolted towards the trash can next to Liam.
"Looks like those two couldn't handle the ride huh?" Drake snorted as he and Pam approached the group. "Nope. Hey how come you two didn't ride? Scared Drake?" Alicia teased.  "He wasn't scared. We just, had other plans." Pam blushed as Drake pulled her into his side. "Why are your pants unbuttoned?" Anitah questioned, before going wide eyed in realization. "How about we go back to the house, and get this party started." Leo Spoke up.
"For once, I agree with my brother.  I've had enough of this." Liam spit into the trash can. "Wait. Where's Maxwell?"
"Maxwell.  Max." They called, and he didn't come. "He will find his way back. Lets just go." Drake took Pam's hand "Drake, were in Washington,  not Cordonia how's he going to find his way?" Anitah folded her hands across her chest. "He's like a damn puppy brooks. He will find his way home, now come on." Drake grunted as Anitah finally gave in.
Back at the house Drake and Leo ran to the store, returning a short while later with a few cases of beer and some liquor and wine. Still no sign of Maxwell. "I'm gonna call him." Alicia pulled her phone out and dialed his number, they heard it ringing inside.  "Looks like he left his phone behind." Rashad lifted the phone off the counter. "I hope he is ok. Maybe we should call the police?" Pam worried, it wasn't like Maxwell to stray so far from the group.
Finally Maxwell came sauntering in, hands full of bags.  "Maxwell!" Anitah shouted as she wrapped him in a hug "where the hell have you been?" She slapped his arm. "Ouch, hey little blossom that hurt!" He rubbed his arm "I went to the fireworks tent. Look at all the cool stuff I got. "I'll be taking these." Drake reached out to grab the bags, Maxwell recoiled defensively, clutching the explosives to his chest. "No, these are mine. Don't take my toys away Drake."
"Maxwell, let me see what you have." Leo walked over sorting through the bag. "Um Maxwell,  most of these are illegal in DC. Where did you even get these?" Maxwell smiled, oh I took an Uber to Virginia. "Ok Maxwell. You can have these and these." Liam held him out a box of sparklers and some fountains.  "The rest, were putting up." He handed the bags to Bastian.
"Yeah, can you imagine Maxwell with a damn mortar? He would blow up the damn shed over there." Drake chuckled, and then shook his head.
The night went on, the group getting drunker by the minute.  Liam sat perched up on the steps of the pool, wearing American flag swim trunks and a stars and stripes bandana around his head. "Woooooo 'Merica!" He hollered as the group around him screamed " 'MERICA" back. Genevieve and Anitah danced on the picnic table in their skimpy bikinis, beers in hand. Alicia and Leo were busy in the corner. hands all over each other while Rashad and Maxwell played a game of washers.
"Hey, look what fell out of the bag." Pam beamed as she walked over with a small box. "The singing lotus?" Drake looked at it. "Huh. Looks like it plays the star spangled banner, when you light it." He pulled the content from the box and sat it on the patio next to the pool, carefully lighting the fuse and backing away.
The fireworks began to spin, sparks of red, gold and blue shot from the center while it played a very distorted version of the star spangled banner. "Oh my god. My ears, make it stop." Genevieve shouted as she held her hands over her ears.
Alicia stood up, momentarily stepping away from Leo and began to belt out the song.
Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
Gen and Anitah stopped dancing, and began to sing along. Pam joining in as well.
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
"Play ball!" Anitah and Alicia said in unison. They looked at the burned out dilapidated flower. "Man that was a sad excuse for a firework. " drake mumbled "Just look at it." The group looked down at the melted heap of plastic and soot.
As the night went on and the sun went down, the group were pretty drunk. Pam and Drake disappeared into the pool shed, Anitah and Genevieve continued to dance and sing on the picnic table while Rashad and Liam looked on. Leo and Alicia ended up in the pool together,  while nobody noticed Maxwell had snuck off again. Anitah had convinced Liam to let her paint his face in the American Flag, so he just sat there arm slung over the chair, red white and blue face with a Budweiser in hand.
Rashad started to babble,  staring straight ahead. He made no sense whatsoever and the only thing he could do was point. "Rashad, what the hell are you trying to say. Spit it out." Genevieve snapped. Finally climbing down from the picnic table she stood in front of him waving her hands in front of his face "helllooooo?"  "Shiminag hemmeinah. Ah ma tha…" he babbled.
Suddenly a firework whizzed past Liam's head and exploded against the pool shed. "Run for cover." Liam screamed as he dove into the pool. Rashad still standing there dumbfounded Genevieve tried with all her might to pull him away, but he wouldn't budge. "I love you, but I don't feel like getting blown up." She yelled taking Anita's hand and jumping into the pool.
"What the fuck is going on out here?" Pam snapped as she and a Drake stumbled out of the shed. Another firework crashed into the shed, pam screamed and ran into the pool. Drakes pants fell around his ankles as he tried to run,  he kicked them off and joined his wife in the pool.
Fireworks were flying dangerously low, explosions everywhere as Maxwell sensed the sudden danger and ran for cover under the porch. Alicia and Leo obvious to the Chao ensuing around them, continued to have sex in the corner of the pool. Alicia opened her eyes looking above her. "Leo. I see fireworks." She gasped. "I know baby. I have that effect. " she smirked as he thrust into her. "No, you ass. The fucking back yards a war zone." She tapped his shoulder, and pointed to the disaster area. Leo loomed around the pool, their friends and family screaming. Bastien on the phone with the fire company, deftly ducked under a bottle rocket headed straight for his head. "Beaumont,  when I get my hands on you." Bastien shouted. "Im sorry bas. I didn't mean to light all the fuses." Maxwell shouted back.
Dark smoke plummeted from the pool shed where Pam was giving Drake a blow job, just moments prior. "Hope they got insurance " Leo joked as he and Alicia swam up to the group. Liam rolled his eyes taking not of their nude forms.  "Where the hell are your clothes?" He held back a snicker. He wasn't three sheets to the wind drunk, he would have been more annoyed at the situation at hand.
"Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave…" Alicia began to sing. "This again?" Drake rolled his eyes.  "Just sing along Walker." Pam kissed his lips.
"O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!" The group sang along,  just as the fire company rushed in putting the shed out.
The following Monday Liam walked into the council meeting, shoulders back, head held high. The hushed whispers began to circulate the room as Liam cleared his throat. "Shall we begin?" After the meeting a young council member approached him. "Your majesty, please may I speak freely?" Liam nodded "of course Lord Nicholas. And its Liam."
"Liam. Why Is there a faded Flag on your face?" Liam hung his head and shook it, recalling the past weekend's antics. Sighing loudly, he lifted his head. "Nick. Have you ever been to America on the 4th of July?"

Hxnsjsndbbdbdbdkddb. I just let out a squeal that made my bf look at me like i was crazy (i am a little bit!) For the prompt, can it be Erin's first royal ball/party? Mainly maxwell x erin centric but featuring the whole cgw crew too? The rating is up to you guys? THANK YOU TIMES INFINITY. Also no rush, just when you can! Ty ty tyyyyyyy!! - Previous anon that ask for the prompt 😭🙏🙏🤗🤗🤗🤗
You are too freaking cute! Here you go! I hope you love it, it’s a mess and a half but I was excited to get it out, lol.
Erin sat in the middle of the Ramsford boutique, pouting...if we're being honest.
"I had these brought in, they should fit perfectly over your bump babe."
She glared at the back of Maxwell's head, mocking his speech about the formal dresses he had picked out for her to choose from. It was to be her first royal event, at his insistence, and she was fat and cranky and had no interest in attending whatsoever.
The Winter Gala, in fricken Lythikos...I'm from FLORIDA. I'm going to freeze. I'm going to be fat and frozen. I want to be like Elsa and let it go, and by it I mean Max and by go I mean BY HIMSELF. She rolled her eyes, groaning and causing Max to turn to look at her, eyebrow quirked.
"No"
"No what, Max?" She huffed.
"You're not getting out of going. You always do this, you've avoided them for almost an entire year now. I'm tired of fighting Adelaide off by myself." He was gesturing wildly with his hands, pretty sure he was fighting a losing battle but hoping for the best.
"Don't fight her off then."
His eyes widened. "Have you lost your mind?"
She shrugged. "Don't turn em' down, turn em' over." She giggled, his face a mix of exasperation and disgust.
"You looove me!" She taunted, blowing him a kiss before standing, waddling over to the dresses to see which ones he had found.
"I do, but you're being annoying this morning." He laughed, leaning over to kiss her on top of the head.
"I like this one best" she picked up a navy blue flowing gown with long sleeves, it had a light grey fur wrap with silver running through it hanging on the hanger also.
Max smiled, taking the dress from her and lacing his fingers with hers.
"You'll look beautiful!"
•••••••••••••
"You think they're actually coming this time?" Gen asked, sipping her Lythikos nog.
"10 bucks says she convinces him to just stay home." Alicia offered, tossing the rest of her nog back.
"I don't know, Max was pretty determined they were going to be here." Anitah added, shrugging.
"You know she'll eventually give in to him, it's why they work so well. It's always a joint effort." Pam smiled, watching her husband across the ballroom talking to the other guys.
Just then they saw people starting to turn towards the entrance, seeing Maxwell and Erin enter. He saw them and waved, making his way over to them with her hand firmly wrapped in his.
"Hey guys! We made it!" He beamed, squeezing Erin's hand as she smiled up at him.
"Glad I didn't bet money on that." Gen snickered as Alicia rolled her eyes, handing her a 10 out of her clutch.
"Glad you guys made it, Erin that dress is beautiful! And look at that bump, oh I miss it already!" Pam gushed, her and Anitah placing a hand on either side at the same time.
"She said it's too cold here for her too!" Erin laughed, smiling down at her friends trying to convince the baby to kick.
"I'm surprised you aren't bundled up more, don't you hate the cold?" Alicia asked, laughing at the expression on Erin's face.
"I literally fucking hate it." She whispered, "but look" she hiked her dress up to reveal grey, fleece lined leggings and fuzzy socks sticking out of her flats. Lowering her dress back down to cover everything, she laughed with the girls.
"You knew I wasn't going to come out here and completely freeze!" She looked up, eyes catching Maxwell's as he frantically motioned with his eyes at an older blonde woman standing precariously close and holding a martini.
"Adelaide wastes no time I see." Anitah rolled her eyes.
"She's just like her daughter...easy!" Gen added as the girls all laughed before Erin made her way over to where Max was.
His eyes lit up, silently thanking her for coming to his rescue.
"Oh Adelaide, I'd like you to meet my.."
"Erin" she cut him off, holding a hand out to Adelaide as she politely took her hand. "A pleasure to meet you Duchess, I've heard so much about you." She grinned, ignoring Maxwell's panicked expression.
"Oh really? Well have you heard all the rumors about Mr. Beaumont here? They say he's a very...gifted young man." Adelaide smirked, leaning closer to Maxwell.
Erin held her hands up about a foot apart, shaking her head. "Oh yeah, I've heard! I bet this one here could give the ride of your life!"
Max stood with a deadpan expression staring at Erin, wondering how the hell he got into this predicament, and better yet how he was going to get out of it.
•••••••••••••
"Erin just offered Beaumont up on a platter to the Duchess of thirst." Leo laughed, Liam spitting his drink and coughing as Rashad clapped him on the back.
"Are you serious?" Drake asked, still laughing. "I guess that's what he gets for making her come to this. Especially pregnant."
The guys all shook their heads agreeing, watching with wide eyes at the spectacle happening across the ballroom.
•••••••••••••
"I'm sure his wife doesn't appreciate such a beautiful specimen of a man. I could show him such a good time!" Adelaide dragged on as Max and Erin locked eyes, she threw him a wink and a smirk and he could only hope this didn't get crazy.
"I think his wife appreciates what an animal he is, very statuesque...Adonis himself should be jealous...hung like a horse...and that mouth." She fanned herself, "don't get me started!"
"Oh, you have been with the young Beaumont then?" Adelaide quirked an eyebrow at Maxwell, looking between him and his wife.
"Oh, over a hundred times. Sometimes five, six times a day!" Erin added some jazz hands for pizzazz.
"And what of his wife? I didn't think she would be so open to...traditional Cordonian marriage arrangements, given that she's from the states." Saying that last part with a hint of disgust, she let her eyes roam over Erin as she waited.
The tip of Erin's tongue ran along the edge of her teeth, a calming mechanism Max had seen many times, although tonight it was particularly exciting. Something about how she was giving Adelaide back as good as she got.
"This is actually his baby I'm carrying" Erin smiled sweetly, placing her hand protectively over her bump.
Adelaide scoffed, "What a joke his wife must really be then." She reached a hand out to touch her bump but before she could Erin's top lip quirked up at the corner, showing some teeth, and she let out a growl.
"Actually…I'm his wife. Lady Erin Beaumont, nice to meet you." She spoke through gritted teeth. "You're right about one thing, I don't really care much for the traditional Cordonian marriage" she did air quotes.
"Well then why are you here dear, surely you didn't want to hear what we were saying?" Adelaide laughed, looking to Maxwell for backup as he drew his eyebrows in looking at her like she was crazy.
"I'm here...Dear...because I'm saving my husband from the crazy cougar in the room. By the way, I bite." She leaned towards her snapping her teeth together before Maxwell grabbed her around the wrist, pulling her quickly towards the bathroom.
•••••••••••••
"And... there they go. Well at least they showed up this time!" Gen said, shrugging her shoulders.
"Honestly are we sure she's only having one baby? She's got to have like triplets in there at this point. That's all they do anymore." Alicia laughed.
"Oh like YOU'RE one to talk!" Anitah and Pam said in unison, all of them falling into a fit of laughter.
Olivia walked up, bringing the girls each another steaming mug of nog. "Could you four have found anyone else to match Maxwell and his ridiculous self any better?" She questioned, red lips turned down in the corners as she rolled her eyes, watching them bolt into the bathroom.
Pam and Alicia wordlessly high fived each other.

MFR #10 Minipost: TRR
TRR Fanfic is abundant and I love it!
Here’s a list of the work I read for TRR in the last two months.
Epiphany (series) by @ao719
In this series – we get to see what may have happened in Liam let fear keep him from proposing to MC (Daniella) when he had the chance. Instead, he didn’t choose her out of fear that doing so would put her more in harm’s way.  When Daniella returns and Liam has to watch her fall for another man … let’s just say sparks fly.  Come see if Liam can prove he still has what is needed to get the girl.
The Consequence of Secrets – Part 18 – The ICU by @blackcatkita
The pregnant Queen is finally awake.  She’s on anesthesia and a bit high – so that’s entertaining.  Liam’s anger is thawing towards Drake (finally!) This series is so good – so if you haven’t started it – it’s time to catch up.  And if you’ve been waiting for the next chapter – here it is!
Vengeance (series) by @ao719
Colette comes to Cordonia on a mission.  Drake seems to know her and be able to vouch for her.  Liam, of course, falls for her quickly.  As people in high places end up in jail for their illegal activities, Colette’s life is threatened.   Is Colette a danger to the crown?  Will Liam be able to keep her safe?
Guarded Hearts by @lolablackwrites
In the most recent chapter (37), Bas and Alice are back together.  Bas asks Alice to move in with him!  We get more of BFF Frankie.  A delightful conversation occurs between Alice and Bertrand.  This chapter made me snort coffee.  It hurt but it was so worth it.  As the president of the Bastien Fanclub – I’m telling you that you must read this if you love Bas!
Worth the Wait by @speedyoperarascalparty
Happy Father’s Day Drake Walker!
The Sins of the Father by @sawyeroakleyscowboyhat
Liam learns that Drake is his brother.  Come find out how that happened.
Running on Fumes by @cocomaxley
When exhausted men babysit their children, they learn the importance of tagging their strollers.
Liam’s Journal (series) by @whenyourheartskipsabeat
TRR book 1 through Liam’s 5 senses.  You know the story – but not this intimately.
A Question of Paternity (series) by @whenyourheartskipsabeat
Riley marries Drake and quickly learns she is pregnant.  Is it possible that Drake is not the father?
Marry Me by @theroyalweisme
Drake watches the love of his life marry someone else.  It’s beautiful anguish.
Family Secrets (series) by @whenyourheartskipsabeat
Bertrand knows there’s a sister Beaumont out there.  Maxwell doesn’t.  Maxwell invites Nev to come compete for Liam.  The stage is set for secrets to reveal something good or make life more complicated.
Whatever Comes Next by @drakewalkerwhipped
Drake and Jaela are on their honeymoon.  This is a chapter of love, smut, tenderness AND plot.
A Twist in the Tale by @whenyourheartskipsabeat
Things are a little different in this story about when Liam learns what happened with Tariq.
Living with Consequences by @argylemnwrites
Drake and Riley agreed their child could be the next heir to the throne and regretted it almost immediately … come find out a few of the reasons why.  I particularly love how Drake and Riley are on the same page at the end.
Sweethearts (series) by @elles-choices
Liam is King.  Lola is a fashion icon.  They’ve found a way to get back together but that’s still not public knowledge.  In this NSFW chapter, Liam lets Lola know that she can be seen with someone else, but he owns her body and heart.
July 1: Home by @darley1101
Liam and Karin (MC) take a moment to breath and remember how lucky they are.
Finding Riley (series) by @emceesynonymroll
An amazing AU where we learn that Riley isn’t who she originally claimed to be but she may just be what Cordonia needs.  This was so creative, I was hanging on every new chapter.
Unexpected (series) by @ao719
Driam x Riley – it’s NSFW, it’s sexy, no one has been able to clearly think through their feelings on their own, let alone share those feelings … but there’s a lot of love to go around.  I cannot wait to see where this one goes!  And in the meantime – every chapter is HOT HOT HOT!!!
We Owe Him by @drakewalkerwhipped
The conversation we all deserved between Drake and MC about naming a child the next heir. It’s real, it’s honest, it’s intense.
The Secrets Out (series) by @ao719 (CGW)
Liam has a cousin that Anitah had a one-night stand with and never mentioned anything … Liam is very drunk when he learns this and says shit he never should have even thought.  Check out this series to learn how Liam learns this truth and then whine with me for more so we can learn how Liam gets out of the dog house.
One Handsome Devil (series) by @onehandsomedevil-trr
Follow the TRR story that you love with greater details.  Drake with with MC (Kate) and right now Liam is with Hana.  Liam and Hana is not a pairing I usually like – but it works.  Come see why.
The Royal Honor by @katedrakeohd
This is going to kind of follow the plot of The Royal Heir … but with @katedrakeohd flair.
Pas de trois (series) by @ritachacha
Maxwell has married MC (Riley).  She has had a few flings with Liam … which Maxwell has just recently learned and is not thrilled by.  Liam has asked for permission to be with Riley so that an heir might be born.  No one seems to be speaking their full truths – least of all Riley and Maxwell.  But the sex they’re having is hot.  I can’t wait to see where things go from here.
Fall Apart (series) by @debramcg1106
Riley and married Liam and let’s just say that Drake is not handling that very well.  Drake has friends who want to help – and some who will force him to get help.  Will he accept it?
Totally, One-Hundred Percent Brand New Information by @argylemnwrites
A delightful story about how and when Maxwell figures out that Riley has fallen for Drake.  Maxwell is such a good friend!
Treason Never Wins (series) by @whenyourheartskipsabeat

The girls stared at Liam who had just invited them all to the masquerade ball, each one of them grinning except for Anitah who had thought Liam lost his mind.
“Genevieve,” Rashad smiled at her, “would you be my date?”
“Yes! I’ve never been to a masquerade before!”
“Pam...will you go with me?” Drake gave her a sheepish grin.
“I’d love to, Drake,” Pam smiled.
“I don’t...uh, I don’t dance, just so you know.”
“Well, we’re about to change that,” she winked. Normally Drake would fight, but damn if he wouldn’t dance for her.
“Alicia...be my date,” Leo shot her the signature smirk that she had come accustomed to.
“Hell yes,” she smiled.
Everyone’s gaze turned looking at Anitah and she flopped her arms down on the table. “Why are you all looking at me? You don’t need me to be there for you all to go.” She stood grabbing her plate and cup and walked back inside from the balcony. Liam gave them a look before standing and following her inside.
“Anitah...” she looked up as she placed her plate in the sink. “What’s wrong?”
“Liam...you just invited me to a masquerade ball...at the palace...where your wife is going to be...”
“Soon to be ex-wife...”
“Not that soon. Sorry if I don’t seem excited to go and watch you walk in with her on your arm, and dance with her, and whatever else...” she turned pouring herself another cup of coffee, shaking her head. “It’s like the damn engagement tour all over again,” she mumbled to herself, but he still heard it.
Liam’s expression fell at her words. “I’m sorry, love. I didn’t think about it that way. I didn’t mean for it to upset you by asking.”
“I know you didn’t...I’m sorry,” Anitah set her cup down rubbing her hand through her tousled hair. “Just, being back here brings back a lot of memories...and they’re not all good ones.”
Liam walked up to her, hands going to her hips. “Mostly good?” He looked down at her with a heated gaze and she couldn’t fight the smile as she shook her head knowing what he was referring to. He leaned down capturing her lips as he pressed himself into her against the counter, a soft gasp escaping her as his lips trailed down to her neck hitting that spot just below her ear that he knew drove her crazy. “You’re really bad at hiding how turned on you are,” he whispered in her ear before looking at her again, still working on breaking her and her no sex rule.
Anitah arched her brow, her eyes moving down to the bulge in his pants. “So are you,” she smirked as he shook his head.
“Look...please come...and if at anytime you feel uncomfortable, I’ll understand if you want to leave. And plus, it’s a masquerade, you’ll have a mask...no one will recognize you unless you want them to.” She looked up at him, this hopeful gleam in his eyes. One thing was for certain, even a year later he still knew how to sweet talk her. She closed her eyes for a moment before looking back to him and nodded her head yes. Liam smiled and leaned down kissing her. “Wear blue...you can match me.”
A few days later after the girls had gone shopping for their dresses, Anitah and Alicia headed back to the estate in Valtoria while Pam and Genevieve headed over to meet Drake and Rashad at the new clinic for their tour that Liam had set up. Rashad and Drake were both on a mission to show Genevieve and Pam how great the clinic was, to try and help convince them into staying and taking the jobs.
“Ok...so we need to play this up as much as possible,” Drake looked at Rashad as they stood in front of the clinic waiting for the girls to arrive.
“Right. We need to show them how great this place is, and how much they would love working here.” Just then the car carrying Genevieve and Pam pulled up, the girls stepping out a moment later. “Hello,” Rashad greeted Genevieve, kissing her cheek.
“Hi! Well the outside looks nice,” her eyes scanned the large building.
Pam stepped up to Drake, his arm going around her as he leaned in kissing her. “Hey,” he smiled.
“Hello, Drake,” she grinned in return. “We ready?” The others nodded and they walked inside the clinic, Pam seeing a familiar face. “Hello, Dr. Remus,” she smiled.
“Pam! It’s great to see you again! And you must Genevieve.”
“It’s nice to meet you,” Genevieve smiled.
“When King Liam told me you were considering taking the position, I have to be honest, I was quite pleased. The Queen mother kept going on about how she wished you were here to help run it, and a recommendation from her is definitely something. I believe these gentlemen are going to show you two around. If you have any questions my office is right over there.”
They nodded and began on their way. Drake and Rashad we’re taking them around, showing them the offices and different rooms. Neither one of them had the first clue as to what they could say that would really sell to Pam and Genevieve to stay, so they said whatever they could come up with in each room they came to.
They walked into one of the offices and looked around, Drake noticing the machine sitting on a small table near a sofa. “Wow...look at how cool and high tech these little machine things are...” he looked it over furrowing his brow at the different settings.
Pam chuckled. “They're white noise machines, Drake.”
“And this chair...it looks so comfortable...very ergonomically sound, wouldn’t you say, Gen?” Rashad motioned to the chair for Genevieve to take a seat and she eyed him curiously for a moment.
“It’s...a chair, Rashad.”
Drake walked over to the desk looking at all the supplies. “And you have a computer...and post-its in like...wow...five different colors...” he flipped through the small rainbow colored stack. Pam and Genevieve looked to one another and began laughing. Genevieve and Rashad walked out of the office going to another one to check it out. “Ya know, Pam...” Drake began walking up to her as he wrapped his arms around her waist. “My cabin isn’t too far from here at all either. It’s so close by...so close...”
“Oh?” Pam chuckled as she turned to face him. “Is that your way of saying that if I do decide to stay that you want me to stay at your cabin, Drake?”
His eyes slightly widened as he rubbed his hand on the back of his neck. “Oh...I...I mean...if you think you’d want to...or get your own place...I was just saying...that it wasn’t far.”
“So what do you think?” Rashad asked Genevieve as they walked out of the last room and went looking for Pam and Drake.
“It’s really nice,” she smiled up at him and looked to see him staring at her with a hopeful expression. “Stop looking at me like that,” she giggled. “I can’t make a choice based on what kind of office supplies they have, Rashad. We’ll have to see how the next few weeks go...”
“I understand. But...if it was based just on office supplies, this place is top notch,” he grinned as she laughed shaking her head.
A few days after getting their dresses the girls were at Valtoria getting ready to for the masquerade ball that evening. After getting ready they headed down to the limo that Liam had sent to pick them up and slid in making their way to the palace.
“How are you feeling?” Pam asked Anitah.
“I’m ok. Just not looking forward to watching Madeline pine over him...again...”
“I can’t wait to see what this chick looks like,” Alicia chuckled.
“Well get ready for the looks. We’re like fresh meat walking into that place because none of them are going to know who we are and they’re going to want to know, especially when they see us talking to the guys.” Anitah shook her head recalling her first ball, which just so happened to be the masquerade. How ironic, she thought.
The guys all stood in the foyer of the palace waiting for the girls to get there. Each one of them was excited that they had decided to come, knowing this was one of the moments that would help them decide whether or not to stay in Cordonia. They all knew how important it was to make sure that they each had a good time tonight.
Liam was greeting other nobles in the foyer as they arrived, and Olivia walked in. “Liv,” Liam leaned in kissing her cheek.
“Gentlemen,” she greeted the others. She took in their faces, all looking at the door, peering over other guests as they filed in. “Why the hell are you all standing here like some giddy school boys?” She arched her brow and a moment later she smirked. “Did you actually find dates to come with you?” Leo, Rashad and Drake all looked over at her not saying anything. She then looked to Liam who kept glancing from the stairs to the door. “And What’s your excuse?” Liam looked at her with a questioning expression, knowing if he spoke she would know he was lying through his teeth. “Well I know for damn certain that you didn’t find a date...your date is still upstairs, probably just opening her coffin to get ready for the evening.” Drake, Leo and Rashad all burst into laughter at her comment about Madeline, Liam giving them each a mocking expression. She knew then something was going on and she squared herself up to Liam. “Spill...”
“You’ll find out soon enough,” Liam smirked. She turned walking into the ballroom. A short time later Liam felt a tap on his shoulder and turned to see Madeline. “Yes?” He quirked his brow.
“Well...lets get this over with,” she motioned to the door.
“You go on ahead. I’ve already greeted them all while waiting for you to grace us with your presence.” She shook her head and stomped into the ballroom.
The guys stood talking for a few more minutes as some more guests filed into the ballroom, stopping to greet Liam on their way in. Suddenly they heard laughter, Leo recognizing it as Alicia’s and his head snapped up, swatting Drake in the chest to get his attention which turned into a domino effect, Drake swatting Rashad, Rashad swatting Liam. Their gazes were set on the door as the four woman walked in, each of their eyes going wide.
Alicia wore a royal blue gown with a plunging illusion v-neck top and a white mask covering her face. She spotted Leo staring at her slack jawed and gave him a smile before she twirled showing him the rest, the back almost completely open all but a bedazzled strap that went across the center. “You like?” She chuckled as she stepped up to him.
“I more than like...you look beautiful,” he smiled at her, his arm going around her waist pulling her to him and dipping his mouth to her ear. “However...that dress would look even better on my bedroom floor,” he whispered before looking back to her as she bit her lip.
Pam looked at Drake who was staring at her wide eyed, hands clasped tightly together in front of him. She wore a seafoam green and silver sequined halter top gown with a plunging open back, which Drake saw as she turned for him, a sparkly silver mask over her eyes. “Holy shit...” his eyes scanned over her not realizing that he just said the words out loud until it was too late. His gaze snapped back up to her, cheeks blushing. “I mean...wow...you, uh...” he swallowed hard trailing off as he forgot his words, eyes scanning back over her shaking his head. “You look...incredible, Pam.”
Pam chuckled at his reaction. “Thank you, Drake.”
Genevieve smiled as she walked up to Rashad wearing a sequined gold, one shoulder fitted gown with a sweetheart top and a high slit going up the side of her leg, a matching gold mask dawning her face. Rashad’s cheeks were flushed red as he looked her up and down, his eyes finally landing on hers. “Wow...Genevieve,” he shook his head as the smile he was wearing grew wider the longer he looked at her, “you look absolutely amazing,” he gave her a soft smile.
“Why, thank you. You’re looking good yourself,” she gave him a playful wink.
Liam stared at Anitah as she walked towards him wearing a long sleeve, plunging v-neck mermaid style gown that was completely sheer with random pieces of blue lace embroidered throughout, her body peeking out through the sheer underlay openings in the lace, leaving very little to Liam’s imagination. She wore an ombré mask that faded from royal blue to silver covering most of her face, making it so she would be unrecognizable to anyone.
“Your majesty,” she joked as she finally made it up to him as he continued to gawk at her.
“Anitah,” he breathed as his eyes roamed over her again. “You look stunning...” He leaned in not caring if anyone was looking and kissed her cheek letting it linger for a moment before he moved a little closer to her ear. “You have no idea the things I want to do to you right now,” he whispered in a smoky tone as a familiar warmth filled her at his words. He stepped back, his blue, hunger filled eyes locked on hers that were peeking through her mask.
Drake cleared his throat. “Shall we?” He looked at the group as he held his arm out to Pam and she linked hers through his with a smile walking towards the ballroom doors, the rest of the group following behind them except for Anitah.
She stood rooted in place as she stared at the ballroom doors, the memory of the last time she was in there flashing through her mind. I choose...Lady Madeline. Liam looked off to his side expecting to see Anitah slightly behind him and stopped when he noticed she wasn’t, turning to see her still standing in the foyer in the same spot, not having moved.
He turned and walked back towards her noticing she was zoned out, her mind somewhere else. “Anitah,” he quietly spoke pulling her from her daze as she looked over at him. “Are you alright?”
“Yeah...just need a minute.” He stood there waiting for her and she motioned for him to go. “We can’t walk in together, Liam. Go on ahead, I’ll be in in a moment.” He could sense the somewhat hint of hurt in her tone, feeling guilty that he couldn’t walk in with her arm and arm like the rest of their friends just had. He reluctantly nodded his head as he dropped it before turning and walking over and through the doors. Anitah took a breath a moment later and made her way into the ballroom, walking over to the bar after spotting the others standing there all but Liam, Alicia handing her a drink once she made it up to them.
Madeline was standing off near the head table speaking with Kiara, Penelope, and Alexis. She saw Kiara staring and followed her gaze to see Drake, Rashad and Leo standing with a group of unfamiliar woman. “Who are they?” Kiara asked staring at the woman in the seafoam gown that Drake was whispering to causing her to blush.
“I have not the faintest idea,” Madeline stared taking a sip of her drink.
“Well they seem awful chummy,” Alexis snapped as she stared at the woman in the gold gown who was flirting with her ex-fiancé.
“Yes...that they do,” Madeline was watching Leo with the woman in the royal blue gown, his arm around her as they laughed, then her eyes flashed to the one in the lace gown who seemed to be the only one there without a somebody. Then she watched as Maxwell approached the group giving the woman a hug. “Well maybe that one is with Lord Maxwell.”
The announcement came for the first dance, the traditional Cordonian waltz to kick off the ball. Anitah watched as Liam took the dance floor with Madeline, that familiar ache in the pit of her stomach immediately there upon seeing them together.
“M’Lady?” She heard Maxwell and turned to see him holding his hand out giving him a soft smile as she took it and he led her out onto the dance floor, the rest of the group following as more nobles joined in. “You do remember the steps?”
“Lets hope so, or I’m going to make a fool out of the both of us,” she chucked. Liam looked over to see the two of them, unable to help thinking that it was just like the engagement tour, when Maxwell would step in and help them out, trying to take her mind off everything else.
The waltz started to play as the guests began to glide across the floor all in sync with their movements, Rashad leading Genevieve, Leo leading Alicia, both of them not knowing the steps. Pam was dancing with Drake, having known from being taught by Isaiah during her time there before. At the swell of the music the guests split across the floor for the partner change. Rashad found him self dancing with his ex fiancé, Genevieve with Lord Neville, Pam with Isaiah, Drake with Kiara, Alicia with Max, Leo with Madeline and Liam with Anitah.
Genevieve’s nose turned up hidden by the mask she was wearing as she stared at the odd looking man she was no dancing with. She glanced over to see Rashad with a woman, immediately not liking the way she was looking at him, a hint of jealousy coursing through her in that moment.
Rashad glided across the floor with Alexis and she looked up at him. “I didn’t know that you would be here tonight, Rashad. I thought you’d be off making a deal of some sorts...” her tone was filled with irritation. He always worked when they were together, so to see him at a ball, with a date nonetheless, had her feeling jealous.
“I am making a deal...so to speak,” he glanced over at Genevieve catching her looking at him and smiled at her.
Pam found herself reluctantly wrapped in Isaiah’s arms, praying that he wouldn’t recognize her as he stared at her, her eyes trying to avert his gaze. “I haven’t seen you here before...”
“Mmhmm.” She didn’t want to speak not wanting him to recognize her voice.
“You look like someone I’d like to get to know better though,” he smirked and she rolled her eyes, looking over to see Drake dancing with a woman, able to tell that he was extremely uncomfortable in that moment.
“Since when do you dance, Drake?” Kiara asked him. “We’ve been coming to these balls for years and I have never seen you dance with anyone, not even me, and I’ve only asked you at every ball.”
Drake looked over to Pam unable to stop the smile that was tugging at the corner of his mouth as they locked eyes. “I guess I finally found someone worth dancing for.”
Leo found himself unfortunately dancing with Madeline, but his eyes were glued onto Alicia as she danced with Maxwell. “So, who’s tonight’s special piece? I haven’t seen her around here before? Meet her on your galavanting travels?” Madeline chided. Even after all this time since being jilted by him after his social season, she found herself jealous of the different women he kept in his company.
“She’s not a piece, Madeline. She’s actually pretty damn special.” He smiled as he looked at her. “Shouldn’t you be worried about your husband instead of asking your ex-fiancé what he’s doing?”
“My husband seems to be a bit...preoccupied tonight,” Madeline glanced over and Leo followed her gaze to see Liam dancing with the masked woman that he knew was Anitah and he grinned. “Who is she? Who are they all? No one here seems to know any of the masked mystery women?”
“Oh, Maddie...you know what they say. Behind every mask there is a face and a story,” he chuckled. She looked at him confused for a moment before rolling her eyes at his cryptic comment.
“You remember...” Liam smiled down at Anitah as she moved through the steps of the waltz like she had just done it yesterday.
“I do remember. I’m quite shocked myself,” she laughed. Liam spun her before twirling her out and pulling her back to him, her back to his chest and he dipped his mouth to her ear.
“I’ve missed dancing with you,” he whispered before spinning her back out.
“Is that all you’ve missed?” She smirked when he pulled her back. A moment later they switched back to their partners, Liam trying to hide his grin as he shook his head.
“Who was that?” He heard Madeline and looked down letting out an annoyed breath as he shrugged. “Well you certainly seem to know who it is...” Liam didn’t answer, the song just coming to an end and he turned walking off the dance floor without a word.
The ball continued underway, the girls all seemingly enjoying themselves, Anitah tossing back shots as she watched Madeline continue to throw herself all over Liam, the alcohol causing her to get a little feisty. She had noticed, along with the other ladies, the stares they were all getting throughout the night from Madeline, Kiara and Alexis. Anitah knew of Rashad’s prior engagement to Alexis and she also knew of Kiara’s obsession with Drake. She watched as Pam and Drake disappeared out onto the balcony, shaking her head with a grin...knowing. A few moments later Kiara approached Leo and Maxwell who were standing there with her and Alicia.
“Leo...have you seen Drake? I was going to ask him to have a drink with me,” she held up to glasses of whiskey.
Before Leo could answer Anitah stepped forward. “I believe I just saw him step out onto the balcony...for some fresh air,” Anitah smirked, Leo and Maxwell both eyeing her curiously.
“Thank you!” Kiara smiled at her, and then she stared for a moment, something about her familiar, but she shrugged it off and headed for the balcony doors, Anitah laughing once her back was turned. Kiara stepped out onto the balcony and there leaning her back against the railing was the woman that Drake had been with all night, her hands gripped onto the concrete with her head back. “Um...excuse me,” she spoke and Pam snapped her head up looking at her wide eyed. “I was looking for Drake?”
“Oh, uh...” she cleared her throat through a small whimper just as her body jerked. “He uh...I guess is...indisposed at the moment,” she shrugged. Kiara stared at her confused before turning and walking back into the ballroom.
A moment later Drake emerged from underneath Pam’s gown. “Well, that almost got awkward,” he laughed.
Rashad and Genevieve walked from the ballroom to where the restrooms were and Genevieve stepped inside, Rashad leaning up against the wall. He looked up to see Alexis approaching him, his jaw clenching. “Hello again.” He didn’t answer, just simply nodded his head, acknowledging her as to not be rude. “Rashad...” she walked up, the smell of wine radiating from her. “I’ve really missed you...” she trailed her finger down his chest. He removed her hand away from her, and just as he did she leaned up to kiss him, just as Genevieve opened the door. She watched as Rashad stopped her and gently pushed her away, eyeing the woman and shaking his head. He looked over to see Genevieve and moved away from Alexis and walked up wrapping her in his arms and kissing her deeply before walking back into the ballroom with her leaving Alexis standing there slack jawed.
Meanwhile around the corner and out of view from the rest of the guests, Leo had Alicia pinned up against the wall, entrapped in a heated kiss. He trailed his hand up underneath her dress finding her lace panties already soaked wit desire. “Mmmm,” he smirked as he kissed her again. They heard someone’s throat clear and slowly broke from the kiss turning their heads to see Madeline with her brow arched, arms folded across her chest. “Excuse us...we’re busy,” Leo moved his hand in a shoo motion and her eyes widened before she turned and stomped away.
As the night continued on, Liam finally had a free moment and searched for Anitah through the crowd seeing her leaning up against the doorframe of the balcony. He walked over to her, their backs towards the other guests as they looked outside.
“Love...are you enjoying yourself?”
“Oh yes. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed another front row seat watching Madeline throw herself at you. It’s just been so delightful.”
Liam closed his eyes for a moment before pulling her out onto the balcony. “Anitah, I’m sorry...”
“Have you started the papers yet, Liam?” He didn’t say anything, just looking at her. “Have you started them?” Her tone was more stern the second time around.
“We’ve only been back a week. I’ve been in meetings, and trying to spend time with you in Valtoria as well. But I will, I promise.”
Anitah let out an annoyed breath, shaking her head. “If you think I’m joking about a months time, Liam, I’m not. You now have three weeks left...and if it’s not done, I’m leaving.”
Liam stepped toward her, his hands going to her arms. “I know...I know, love. I promise, first thing in the morning, I will start them.”
“And who’s your friend, darling?” They heard Madeline’s voice and they both snapped their heads over, Liam’s hands dropping to his sides as she sauntered up looking between the pair, neither one answering her. “You two seem to know one another, you’ve been staring at my husband all night, and he at you, yet I don’t seem to recognize you.” She eyed the masked woman.
“We may have met before...” Anitah stated, Liam eyeing her, knowing she was already emotionally charged and a little drunk, and that was a combination that always made her next move very unpredictable.
“Your accent...you’re clearly American. All these trashy Americans that come here and think they can win the hearts of our Cordonian men. They should have learned from the last one who tried and failed miserably. Isn’t that right dear,” Madeline wryly laughed.
Liam closed his eyes tightly, knowing in that moment exactly what was going to happen, knowing her comment just lit a fire inside Anitah. He opened them back up just in time to see Anitah stepping up to Madeline. “Oh, I’ve won. What’s sad is that you don’t even know it yet.” Madeline stared confused at the masked stranger not understanding what she meant, and sure enough, just as Liam thought, suddenly Anitah reached back and took off her mask. Madeline’s eyes went wide with shock as she stared at her familiar face, Anitah smirking at her. “Surprise.”

It had been a few days since the masquerade ball, Madeline now well aware that Anitah had returned to Cordonia and also aware that Liam’s feelings for her never subsided. She also knew that the other women that were accompanying Drake, Rashad and Leo that evening were clearly friends or acquaintances of hers as well.
Liam had been busy since the masquerade with meetings and appointments and had been unable to see Anitah at all that week, but she was hoping that first thing in the morning after the masquerade he filed the papers like he said he would, like he promised, only having three weeks left until the girls one month time frame was up.
Rashad was sitting in a council meeting, taking his father’s place that day as he was busy in another meeting. After going over a few items on the agenda, Madeline went to the next. “Lord Neville, Lady Kiara and Lady Alexis, you all had some concerns with the new mental health clinic. Can you please step forward.”
Rashad’s gaze snapped up as the three of them stood. As they made it to the front of the room, Alexis flashed him a subtle smirk as Neville cleared his throat. “We feel the clinic is unnecessary and will take too much funding to operate since the patients won't be required to pay. I feel that they should utilize existing therapists and psychiatrists and use their health insurance instead of using the crowns funds.”
“We don’t feel that the two people they want to run the clinic have the credentials,” Kiara interjected. “Pamela Malinski is an American therapist who knows nothing about Cordonia and her citizens, or the ways our health system works here.”
“And Genevieve Sanchez is also a foreigner and has no experience in what types of programs these patients need,” Alexis chided.
Rashad sat there with a stunned expression on his face, heart racing, as he stared at the three of them. “Excuse me,” he finally spoke. “Pamela Malinski was recommended by the Queen Mother herself after having treated her. So she obviously has some knowledge of how the Cordonian health system works. And Genevieve Sanchez was recommended by Pam after having worked closely with her before!”
“Are you sure that’s your brain taking, Lord Rashad...or something else,” Alexis quirked her brow as Kiara hid a laugh.
Rashad went to say something, but Madeline interrupted. “Ok...well since my dear King can’t be here for this meeting as he is stuck dealing with other important matters, I have the say so. And...unfortunately I have to agree.” Kiara and Alexis smiled wide at her words. “We will rescind the allocated funds for the clinic. We can repurpose the building for our Cordonian therapists and psychiatrist to use free of rent. We need to support our own people before we can even think about allowing outsiders in.”
After the council meeting Rashad rushed out of the palace pulling out his phone calling Drake and explained to him what was going on. They were both supposed to head to Valtoria together now that Rashad was done with the meeting and they both agreed that they needed to come up with a plan before Genevieve and Pam found out about the funds being pulled for the clinic.
They were both in a panic knowing that Genevieve and Pam staying was riding on them having these jobs, and they both knew damn well that Madeline, Kiara, and Alexis were in on this together. They both knew that they had done this purposely, Madeline now knowing of Anitah’s return and the other two knowing the Pam and Genevieve were there for Drake and Rashad.
Drake and Rashad pulled up to the estate at Valtoria and got out giving each other a knowing look and fixed their concerned expressions as they were let inside by Glady’s, the other girls, Leo and Maxwell sitting in the great room. “Hello,” Rashad spoke greeting everyone as he walked up to Genevieve and kissed her cheek.
“Hi!” She smiled at him.
Drake walked up sitting by Pam, his arm going around her. “Hey, you,” he smiled as he pulled her in kissing her.
“Hey yourself,” she smiled at him.
“What have you guys been up to all day?” Rashad asked them.
“Nothing...just hanging out here. The rains kind of putting a damper on doing anything outside,” Anitah explained.
As they say there talking for a while, Hladys bringing them snacks and drinks, Pams phone rang, Genevieve catching a glimpse of who it was before Pam stood. “Excuse me, I have to take this.” She stepped out of the room as the others continued their conversation. Pam walked back in a short time later with a look of exasperation on her face. “So...that was Dr. Remus...” Drake and Rashad’s eyes both widened at her words, sharing a nervous glance with one another.
“Oh? What did he have to say?” Genevieve questioned.
Pam sighed. “Well, he said that several of the biggest donors have pulled out...they are withdrawing the funds they had agreed to contribute. At this point, it appears unlikely they will have the funds to move forward with the opening.” Rashad and Drake both closed their eyes, their plan to try and fix it before they found out now foiled.
“What? I can’t believe it!” Genevieve turned giving Rashad a curious look. “Rashad, I thought you were at the council meeting this morning...did you hear anything then?”
Rashad nervously cleared his throat. “Uh...well...”
“You knew? You knew that they were pulling the funding and didn't tell me?” Anitah and Alicia’s eyes were now wide staring at the four of them, Leo and Maxwell sitting forward in their chairs wondering how their two friends were going to get out of this.
“No! I mean, yes! But Drake and I...we were going to try and fix it...before you two found out...” Rashad looked up at her with an ashamed expression.
“So you would rather we find out from someone else when you've known all day? I can believe you!” Genevieve narrowed her eyes at him.
Pam snapped her head over to Drake. “Is that true, Drake? You knew about this and kept it from me?”
“I mean...yes.” Drake tugged at the collar of his shirt. “Rashad called me...but like he said, we were trying to come up with a plan before you two found out...”
“You two are unbelievable! The clinic would be our livelihood. It would be really important for us to know that we no longer have jobs. In case you didn’t know, we have to work to get by. We aren’t rich nobles or best friends with the King and can get a job like that,” Genevieve snapped her finger.
“Gen...I promise, I was only trying to come up with a way to fix it before you found out. So you wouldn’t need to worry about it.” Anitah, Maxwell, Leo and Alicia’s heads were going back and forth between the four of them.
“So rather than tell the two of us,” Pam motioned between herself and Genevieve, “the two people whose livelihoods rely on this job...who actually have experience in this field and could offer input, feedback...assistance, you two decided to fix it for us?” Pam rolled her eyes looking at Genevieve. “Good thing we have these big strong men around to fix it for us...”
Drake ran his fingers through his hair nervously. “No, Pam, we didn’t mean it like that! We just didn’t want you to worry that you wouldn’t have a job...”
“Good thing they're strong Pam. Their brains don't seem to work properly...” Anitah and Alicia both snorted, cupping their mouths with their hands. Genevieve turned to Rashad. “I don’t need someone to fix things for me! Pam and I are used to taking care of ourselves. We have never needed anyone to take care of us, ever. We aren’t some damsels in distress.”
“I know you’re not, Gen! I know you can take care of yourself.” Rashad let out a sigh. “I’m sorry...that I didn’t tell you, both of you. I panicked...but I would like to help try and come up with a solution...”
Pam took a deep breath calming herself. “I appreciate where you are coming from..both of you. But..Drake, if were going to have a shot as doing this thing,” she motioned between them, “we have to do it as a team. That means honesty and trust.”
“I know, Pam. And I’m sorry. So...what do we do?”
They all sat silent for a moment when Leo chimed in. “What about having a fundraiser? We can try and raise what you need, and you could possibly get other donors to take the place of the ones that pulled out?”
“Yeah! We can host it at our estate,” Maxwell chimed in.
“I guess that’s not a bad idea,” Genevieve agreed.
“It’s worth a shot,” Pam shrugged.
“Well, lets get planning then, we’ll host it on Saturday. We need to get the word out,” Rashad said as he looked at the rest.
“Leave getting the word out to Maxwell and I,” Leo said, fist bumping Maxwell. “We know how to get people to a party.”
“I’ll get in touch with Liam and let him know,” Drake spoke.
“I’m sure Olivia will help too,” Rashad remarked.
“Well, then let’s get to work,” Anitah clapped her hands together.
Over the next few days the group worked tirelessly to arrange the fundraiser at the Beaumont estate, Maxwell and Leo inviting everyone they possibly could, Rashad even inviting clients from his company, Olivia working alongside them to make sure everything went off without a hitch. Unfortunately for them, they needed to keep it an open event so the three people from the duchies that had decided to pull out of the funding, Neville, Kiara and Alexis, would all be in attendance. They were just hoping that three of them didn’t do anything to make a scene and turn away possibly donors.
Liam was furious with Madeline when he found out that she had agreed with them in the council meeting, knowing that she only did it because of Anitah’s return and Pam and Genevieve obviously there for Drake and Rashad, wanting to stick with Kiara and Alexis. Anitah had hardly spoken to Liam all week as he had been busy in meetings constantly, but she was curious to ask him about the papers and how Madeline took the news.
The girls all headed from Valtoria to the Beaumont estate for the fundraiser, arriving to see the place completely decked out, each smiling at the work they had all put into it. Pam and Genevieve were both hoping that it was enough, that they would get the funds they needed to keep the clinic from closing before it was even able to open. They walked inside and were greeted by each of the guys, sans Liam who wasn’t there yet.
“Looks good,” Pam walked up to Drake as she looked around the ballroom.
“Here, let me show you this,” Rashad took Genevieve’s hand and let her out to the large balcony they had set up for guests to mingle out there as well.
“Hey, baby,” Leo smiled kissing Alicia.
“Hey. Let’s go grab a drink!” Her and Leo walked away to the bar.
A short time later Liam and Regina arrived, both showing their full support for the clinic, Regina even making a personal donation on behalf of herself. Liam went to look for Anitah as Regina walked up to Pam and Genevieve who were standing with Drake and Rashad.
“Ladies, Drake, Lord Rashad,” she smiled at them.
“Hello, Regina,” Pam smiled. “Thank you for coming tonight.”
“It’s my pleasure. I was livid when I found out what they had done,” she shook her head. “I hope this is enough, that it gets the clinic its funding.”
“Us too,” Genevieve replied.
Anitah was talking with Bertrand and Maxwell and felt a hand on her back, turning to see Liam. “Hello,” he smiled as he leaned down kissing her cheek.
“Hey,” she smiled up at him.
“I missed you,” he whispered in her ear causing her to blush. Maxwell and Bertrand shared a knowing look and stepped away giving them a moment. Liam led Anitah out of the ballroom, turning down a small private hallway. Once out of view from the rest of the guests, Liam turned and pinned Anitah to the wall, kissing her deeply. “Mmmm. I’ve wanted to do that all week,” he smiled before capturing her lips again.
“Oh?” Anitah quirked her brow with a smirk. He nodded before leaning in again, hands roaming her body. “So...how are the papers...coming along?” She asked between his kisses.
“I filed them, just waiting for the word,” his lips trailed down her neck. “Since I filed...cant we just-“
“No,” she interrupted him. “Not until you have them in your hand and signed, Liam.”
Liam let out a low groan as he pressed his body up against hers. “Can’t you see what you do to me?” He questioned, his voice gruff.
“No, I can’t see it, but I can feel it,” she chuckled.
“Anitah, you’re killing me,” he whispered closing his eyes.
“And as soon as you have those papers signed,” she smirked reaching her hand down palming his hard cock through his pants, his body tensing as his eye flew open locking on hers as he leaned into her hand with a low groan, “I’ll bring you back from the dead, my king.”
“You’re such a tease...” he leaned in kissing her once more before she turned walking back into the ballroom while he waited a moment to adjust himself.
Pam and Genevieve walked around with Rashad, Dr. Remus and Regina being introduced to potential donors and talked with them about the clinic, the help that it would bring to the people of Cordonia and why they felt they needed it. Anitah was with Maxwell most of the night, Liam helping out Pam and Genevieve trying to get donations for the clinic or even potential sponsors.
Madeline, Kiara and Alexis walked into the ballroom together, the three of them scanning the room. Madeline’s eyes landed on Liam’s, her jaw clenching at the sight of him after what she received earlier that day. The three of them turned and walked to the bar. As they stood there getting their drinks they turned scanning the crowd, checking to see the outcome of the last minute fundraiser. Madeline’s eyes landed on Leo who was talking with the same girl he was at the masquerade with, one she knew was with Anitah. After a few moments, Alicia walked away from Leo and headed towards the bar.
“Follow my lead...” Madeline whispered to the other two before turning so her back was towards Alicia as she approached the bar and ordered her drink. “Leo seems to be taking a liking to that American...” she shot Kiara and Alexis a wink. Alicia’s ears perked up as she tried hiding her grin as she eavesdropped.
“Yeah, she’s just the flavor of the week, though. The playboy princes plaything until the next one comes along,” Alexis chimed in.
“Poor girl doesn’t even know she’s just another notch on his bedpost,” Kiara smirked into her glass.
Alicia’s expression fell as she looked across the ballroom and found Leo. Hearing these things about him, about her. She couldn’t help but feel in that moment that that’s why he wanted her to come, to have a good time before the next girl came along and he could just ditch her. She grabbed her drink and walked away to try and calm herself down, Madeline, Kiara and Alexis all giggling as they turned and watched her disappear. A short time later she walked back to the bar for a refill, now the only one standing there.
Leo looked around after realizing Alicia hadn’t come back after getting her drink. He found her standing by herself next to the bar and walked up to her. “There you are, love.” He wrapped his arm around her waist leaning in to place a kiss on her cheek as he was met by a hand pushing him back.
“I don’t think so playboy prince.” She slid out of his embrace staring at him coldly.
“What’s the matter Alicia?” Leo looked at her confused.
“I don’t know, you tell me? Was this your little plan, hmm? To bring me out here so you could screw me until you had your fill, huh?”
Leo’s brows knitted together. “Alicia I-“
She held her hand up cutting him off. “I’m not just someones notch on a bed post. I’ve faught dudes before, I’ll do it again!” She brought her knee up, connecting hard with his groin. “Brooklyn baby.” She tossed back her glass of champagne, set the glass down and walked away leaving Leo crumpled on the floor holding his manhood.
Madeline, Kiara and Alexis stood off to the side having seen the confrontation between Alicia and Leo, each one smirking. “That’s three down...one to go...” Madeline grinned as she scanned the ballroom. “And there’s the last,” she eyed Anitah who was walking away from the bar. “Excuse me, ladies.” As she approached Anitah she pulled out papers from her purse. “Anitah,” she called and Anitah stopped, trying not to roll her eyes as Madeline walked up to her.
“Yes?” Anitah gave her an unenthusiastic look.
“I take it you’re the reason I got these today?” She shoved the papers into Anitah’s hand. Anitah set her drink down at the table she was standing next to and opened them up reading over them, Liam’s papers he filed for the divorce. She looked at the date that was on them, the date of which he filed them, and she could feel the anger rising in her. “Don’t think for one damn minute that I won’t drag this out. I know about your little time frame you gave him. And I’m going to fight him on every turn. Clearly he didn’t realize divorces can take...years.”
Anitah’s expression was one of genuine confusion, Madeline noticing, but not for the reason that Madeline thought. “Excuse me,” she shoved the paper back in Madeline’s hand and turned walking towards the balcony where Liam was standing outside with Pam, Drake, Genevieve, Rashad and Maxwell, and she was fuming.
Liam and the others stood out on the balcony talking and laughing with one another. They heard the door open and looked, Liam turning to see Anitah walking out, smiling at her. He opened his mouth to say something when she made it up to him, but was stopped by her hand coming across his cheek with an audible slap, hard enough that it caused his head to whip the other way.
“Oh shit!” Rashad’s eyes went wide as Genevieve gasped and covered her mouth with her hand.
Pam looked at Drake. “That...looked like it hurt.”
Drake chuckled. “Yep...and I’d say he had it coming for awhile,” Drake’s eyebrows raised as he took a sip of his whiskey.
Liam’s hand was on his stinging cheek as he slowly turned bringing his stunned gaze to meet Anitah’s narrowed one. “Is my time a fucking joke to you?”
He rubbed his cheek with his hand. “Anitah, what the hell are you talking-“
“You just filed the papers today?!” She stared at him as he looked back at her staying completely silent. “I saw them after Madeline just confronted me with them! I saw the date! You filed today knowing you had two weeks...and you promised me you would do it the morning after the masquerade...a week ago!”
The groups eyes went wide as they slowly crept back a couple steps away from the two. Liam stretched his jaw out after removing his hand from his cheek. “Anitah, they’re filed! It will be over!”
“Really? Well tell that to Madeline who just told me she plans to fight you on this.” They stared one another down for a moment before Anitah shook her head. “You just lost me...again.” Anitah turned and walked towards the balcony doors.
“Anitah!” Liam called, but she didn’t turn and kept walking, running into Alicia on the way.
“Nita, where are you-“
“Back to Valtoria!” She snapped and Alicia turned following her out.
Pam and Genevieve stared at Liam, his eyes meeting theirs as he turned. “You’ve done nothing but lead her on...” Genevieve shook her head as she and Pam ran back inside to see if they could catch Anitah and Alicia.
Over the next week and a half, Pam and Genevieve waited to hear about the fundraiser they held to see if they made enough to get the funds to keep the clinic open. They were close, but needed to wait for the final numbers to come in. Leo had been trying to talk to Alicia with no luck. He came to Valtoria a couple of times, but she wasn’t listening to anything he had to say. Liam was again stuck in meetings all week, but kept trying to reach out to Anitah with no answer. She wouldn’t return his calls or texts. He was working trying to push the papers through, but Madeline was doing exactly what she said she was going to and was fighting him on every turn.
Liam began to panic thinking Anitah wasn’t going to stay, along with Leo who was worried about Alicia, and Drake and Rashad who were hoping the funding came through for Genevieve and Pam to stay for the jobs at the clinic. Rashad wasn’t sure what Genevieve’s plan was, knowing it was mainly riding on her getting this job. Drake on the other hand wasn’t too worried about Pam staying or not because he had his own plan in mind.
The girls were all sitting in Valtoria, only two days away from their month time being up, when Pam’s phone rang and she pulled it out answering it. She looked at Genevieve, a wide smile growing on her face. After she hung up she looked at them all.
“That was Dr. Remus...we got the funding!”
“Really?” Genevieve grinned.
“Yes! There was a donation made from some company. But that was the final amount we needed!”
“That’s great you guys!” Anitah smiled.
“Yeah! I bet you two are pumped!” Alicia chimed in.
“Yes!” Genevieve squealed.
Pam and Genevieve shared a look, they both needed to talk to Rashad and Drake and they needed to tell Liam they were taking the jobs. They decided to head over to the palace to talk to Liam and called Drake and Rashad to meet them there. On the way Pam made a last minute change and decided to head to Drake’s cabin first, telling Genevieve she would meet up with her after she talked to him.
Pam arrived at Drakes cabin and tentatively knocked. Drake answered the door out of breath wearing a pair of well worn jeans and a white t-shirt. “Pam,” he looked shocked to see her. “Wh...what are you doing here?” He questioned. “I thought we were meeting up later...at the palace?” Drake felt nervous to see her here, certain that it meant bad news.
“Hey Drake...I just wanted to talk...before I head to the palace to talk to Liam...” Drake stepped aside allowing her to enter. He rubbed his hands nervously on his jeans. Pam looked around, a stack of empty boxes to the left of the door, a suitcase, a pile of clean laundry folded on the kitchen table. She turned curiously to Drake. “You going somewhere?”
Drake gave her a sheepish grin. “That depends...are you?” Pam cocked her head in question as Drake moved toward her, grasping her hands in his. “Look Pam...this past month...its...its made me happier than I ever remember being...happier than I thought was possible, to he honest,” he shrugged. “I...I don’t know if the job is enough, or if I’m enough...but you’ve damn sure proven to me that I want this...I want you. And if I haven’t done enough to convince you in this this past month...well I’m damn sure not done trying.” Drake swallowed hard. “So, if your headed back to Chicago...then so am I.”
Pam grinned, her face lighting up as she chuckled. “Oh Drake...are you ever going to get how unbelievable you are?” Drake stopped, his eyes widening as Pam wrapped her arms around his neck. “I have spent this past month falling completely in love with you. And I’m staying...even if I didn’t have the job, which I do...I’m staying here...for you.”
“Really?” A grin tugged at the corners of Drake’s lips as he tightened his grip on Pam. “Do you really mean it?”
Pam smiled widely. “Yes Drake, I’m staying.”
Drake shook his head. “No...not that. You...you love me?” Pam raised her eyebrows up nodding. “But..but why...I mean…”
Pam held her finger up to his lips. “Because, Drake Walker, you are kind, and loving, and funny, and smart and unbelievably sexy...”
Drake grinned. “I just...I mean…” he blushed red. “I love you too, Pam. I love you so fucking much,” he smiled as he moved his mouth down, capturing her lips in a soft longing kiss. He pulled away breathless. “I can’t believe this is happening,” he smiled.
“Well, believe it,” Pam kissed him again. “Come on, I need to go tell Liam I’m taking the job,” she smiled.
Rashad walked into the palace and saw Genevieve standing in the hallway saying goodbye to Liam and Regina and felt his heart thundering in his chest. She hadn’t told him if she was planning to stay and he was scared that her decision was to go back to Chicago. It had only been a month since they met, but he wanted her to stay, but not just for the job. Genevieve turned and saw Rashad walking towards her.
Her face immediately broke into a smile. “Hi, I didn’t know you were coming already.”
“I came early to talk to you. Did...you decide if you were staying or...leaving?” His heart started pounding again. She could tell he was nervous and took his hand in hers, leading him towards one of the rooms just off the hallway.
She smiled at him. “I’ve decided to stay. I accepted the job at the clinic.”
His face broke into a wide grin. “You’re staying? I'm glad that you took the job. They’re lucky to have you, but I can’t help and be happy for myself too.”
She looked down to hide her flushed cheeks. “Actually, you’re the reason I want to stay. The job is a perk. Plus I’ll need money if I don’t want to be homeless.” She let out a nervous giggle having just confessed her reason for staying in Cordonia.
He tilted her face to look at him. “I can’t begin tell you how happy I am that you’re staying...for me. I don’t want to think about what my life would be like without you.” He leaned down and captured her lips in a deep kiss.
Pam and Drake arrived a short time later, Pam going to speak with Liam and Regina before coming back down the grand staircase with Liam following behind her. She walked up to Drake, his arms going around her just as Leo showed up as well. Liam and Leo looked at the four, happy for them, but reminded them of their own troubles.
“So you’re both staying,” Liam smiled. “That’s great. Cordonia is lucky to have you both.”
“Thank you, Liam,” Genevieve smiled.
“Have...you guys talked to Alicia? Do you know if she...what she’s planning on doing?” Pam and Genevieve gave him a sad smile shaking their heads no.
“How about we have a dinner here tomorrow night to celebrate the clinic staying open,” Liam suggested. They all nodded in agreement. “Can...you two do me a favor...since Anitah won’t answer my calls or messages,” he ran his fingers through his hair. “Can you tell her about the dinner...ask her to come. I don’t know what she plans on doing...but if she’s leaving...” he let out a heavy breath, “tomorrow will be my last night to see her...”
“We make no promises, but we’ll let her know,” Genevieve eyed him.
The girls headed back to Valtoria and walked in to see Anitah and Alicia in the kitchen. “Hey guys,” Pam smiled.
“Hey. So did you tell them?” Anitah grinned. “Were they super excited?”
"Rashad was happy...and so am I," Genevieve couldn't hide the smile on her face.
Pam bit her lip blushing. “Yes, Drake was...really happy.” Pam tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “I can’t say the same for Liam and Leo though.” She looked up meeting Anitah and Alicia’s gazes.
Anitah rolled her eyes. “Well, maybe if Liam wasn’t such an idiot...”
“Anitah, he is the king. He might be able to get the divorce finalized quick,” Genevieve suggested.
“Well, Madeline promised she was going to fight it and trust me...she makes it a point to make good on her promises. It is what it is. Lesson learned,” Anitah shrugged.
“Anitah...can I ask you something?” Pam looked at her and she nodded. “I know I wasn’t here...before. And it sounds like what you went through...it was truly terrible. But...do you love him? Even after everything...do you love him?”
“Yes,” Anitah answered without hesitation. “Of course I love him.”
“So you love him...but you believe you could truly be happy leaving here...going back to New York without him?”
“I have to be, Pam. Because sometimes love isn’t enough...” Anitah bit the inside of her cheek as she looked away from her.
“Or...sometimes that’s what we tell ourselves when we’re angry or scared...look, Liam is an idiot. No excuses...but he is an idiot that loves you too. And right now he’s scared that he lost you. All I’m saying is...maybe it doesnt have to end like this...”
“She's right Anitah. I am not the type to think with my heart. But he still has time. He deserves a little faith,” Genevieve remarked.
“So um...Liam is throwing a dinner tomorrow night...to celebrate.” Pam sat down at the counter next to Anitah. “He said he you’ve been avoiding his calls so he couldn’t ask you directly...but he wanted us to see if you will come. You too Alicia...”
“I’ll go...I think I need to talk to Leo,” Alicia gave them all a look.
“I’m not going...tomorrow is my last night before I leave. Saying goodbye once before was hard enough,” Anitah said.
“Anitah, there are other people that deserve a goodbye. What about Drake, Rashad, Leo and Maxwell?” Genevieve looked at her.
“After all this time, dont you at least want some closure?” Pam asked.
“If I go there for the dinner I know exactly what’s going to happen...he’s just going to try to convince me to stay. But I’ll stop and see the others on my way to the airport...to say goodbye.”
“You really are stubborn...” Pam shook her head.
“I could have told you that,” Alicia snorted.
“You really are. But it’s because you want to stay, and one look in those baby blues and you’re done,” Genevieve giggled.
The following night Pam, Genevieve and Alicia headed to the palace for the dinner, Anitah staying behind at Valtoria as she packed her bags getting everything ready for her flight that was leaving early in the morning. Pam and Genevieve were both staying and she knew what Alicia’s plan was going to be, or she was pretty sure anyway. She kept thinking back on Pam’s question, do you believe you could truly be happy leaving here? No, she thought to herself. But it didn’t matter.
She gave him a time frame, and he waited, probably assuming she wasn’t serious, but she was very serious and she wasn’t going to wait around. If he had filed when they first arrived and it was at least in the process for the past month, it would be different. But he waited two weeks before doing anything, a week after he promised her he would do it. After packing her bag she got in the shower, trying to drown out her thoughts.
Pam, Genevieve and Alicia arrived at the palace and walked inside being greeted by Maxwell, Drake, Rashad, Leo and Liam. Liam’s expression fell when he didn’t see Anitah, realizing that she didn’t come. “I’m sorry, Liam. We tried,” Pam gave him an apologetic look. “But dammit if she’s not stubborn.”
“Yeah...she is...” he stuffed his hands in his pockets, heart thrumming in his chest. He fucked everything up and he knew it, regardless of how stubborn she was. He had been pushing since the day after the fundraiser to have the papers done, giving into Madeline’s ridiculous demands just to get them pushed through. But if he had only done it sooner...and now she wasn’t even coming to say goodbye to him.
They headed towards the dining room, Leo looking at Alicia, but she quickly walked in following Pam and Genevieve and his shoulders slumped. He wanted to talk to her and ask her about staying. The group all sat there eating, talking and laughing amongst one another.
Liam stayed pretty silent throughout the meal. He had inconspicuously pulled out his phone a few times throughout the dinner messaging Anitah, but still got no response from her. After they finished eating they moved from the dining room headed towards the great room.
After an entire diner of them sharing glances Alicia steadied her nerves making her way over to Leo before they joined the others. “Hey, can we talk?” Leo nodded as he led her over into an adjacent room and slid the doors closed behind him. He turned to face her, both staring at the other in silence for a moment. Alicia took a deep breath. “First...I’m sorry about kneeing your nads...I might have overreacted,” she sheepishly grinned and he nodded his head silently accepting her apology. “Leo, I just wanted to say that my time here with you has been the best of my life.”
“But?” He swallowed hard, feeling nervous in that moment.
“But, I think it’s best if I go back home to New York with Anitah. I need more than just fun and great sex.” She gave him a sad smile and leaned in kissing his cheek.
He grabbed her arm just as she turned to leave. “I love you. Please...stay here with me.”
Alicia looked at him stunned. “Well...that sure changes things.” She never expected to hear him say that. Especially not after what she heard the other girls saying at the fundraiser, but she could tell he was sincere just by the way he was looking at her.
Leo gave her his signature smirk, making her instantly weak in the knees as he pulled her close to him. “Does that mean you love me too?” His lips a breath away from hers.
She smiled at him. “You know I do. I love you Leo Rhys. I'll stay.”
Leo and Alicia left the room and went to meet the others, Leo walking in wearing a wide grin with his arm over Alicia. Pam and Genevieve noticed the look on her face and both smiled. “Are...are you staying?” Pam asked excitedly. Alicia looked to Leo smiling and back to Pam nodding her head.
Liam let out a breath. He was happy for his brother and for Drake and Rashad as well, but knowing that Anitah was leaving, it was hard to show in that moment. They all sat there and started talking when Bastien walked into the room clearing his throat, Liam looking up at him. He held up papers in his hand and Liam stood walking over and taking them from him.
He snapped his head over to Bastien, heart pounding then over to the others who were staring at him curiously. The girls eyes slightly widened. “Are those...” Alicia trailed off. Liam didn’t need to answer for them to know that yes, they were the papers that he had been waiting for. It was written all over his face.
Genevieve started to laugh. “Go! Hurry up!”
Liam grinned and took off running out of the palace headed for Valtoria.

Pam, Anitah and Genevieve sat at the restaurant waiting for Alicia. “Who wants to bet that she's late because they're screwing in the limo right now?” Genevieve asked giggling. Pam rolled her eyes, “Not taking that bet.”
“You guys, we should have a Harry Potter movie marathon this weekend while the boys are camping!” Anitah squealed.
“This is what Alicia gets for being late,” Genevieve laughed. Alicia finally walked into the restaurant, trying to straighten her disheveled clothing. “Hey girls, sorry I'm late. I was...umm…well you know,” she giggled.
“Finally! I'm starving,” Pam grumbled. The girls talked and laughed through lunch. “Hey Alicia, since you were late, we planned our movies for girls night in,” Anitah said with an evil smile.
“No, no, no! I am not watching Harry Potter,” Alicia said rolling her eyes. “We're not watching Harry Potter,” Anitah said and Alicia let out a sigh of relief, “We are watching all of the Harry Potter movies!” Alicia groaned but knew she didn't have a choice.
Friday afternoon, Rashad was packing his bag and camping gear into the car. Genevieve met him outside since they were driving to the palace together, and he would ride with Drake to the campground. He looked at her and started laughing, “Sweetie, what are you wearing?” Genevieve was wearing a gray uniform skirt, with white button down shirt, yellow and burgundy tie, black cardigan and a black Hogwarts robe. She skipped up to him and wrapped her arms around his neck. She kissed him on the lips and said, “You had no idea that you married a nerd did you? Oh well, too late!”
“Well you guys can't get into too much trouble dressed like that. So I'm actually not scared of whatever you ladies get into tonight. I hope I don't regret saying that,” he chuckled. He opened the passenger door for her and they made the drive to the palace. They pulled up the driveway and saw Drake’s truck pulling up behind them. She giggled when Pam stepped out of the vehicle. She was wearing the Ravenclaw uniform which consisted of a black uniform skirt and blazer and a royal blue blouse along with her Hogwarts robe. Rashad shook his head and laughed. “Gryffindor, Gen? I pegged you for Slytherin,” Drake snorted.
“You seem to know your houses, Drakey...are you a closet Harry Potter fangirl?” She asked with a knowing smile. Drake’s face blushed, “I don't know what you're talking about. That's for kids.” He dropped his voice to barely a whisper, “If you say anything, I will deny it and then I will get you back. Remember I still owe you for Chicago, April Fools and a bunch of other times I can't think of right now.”
“Drake, you're so scary when you're mad...like a ferocious little kitten. Mrow,” Genevieve clawed her hand at him. “And you know you love me!” He muttered under his breath, “You’re right, I do love you…like the big sister I never wanted.”
Anitah waked out of her closet and Liam raised his brow, “My love, what are you wearing exactly?” Anitah smirked, “You don't like it, my King?” She unzipped the front of the black robe and showed him the Gryffindor uniform she was wearing. His eyes automatically snapped down to the the short gray skirt and white knee high tights. Liam swallowed hard, “I...I...never said that.”
Everyone was in the royal quarters waiting for Alicia and Leo. They walked in a few minutes later and Alicia stared at her friends. Her jaw dropped at the sight all of them dressed like they just got their Hogwarts letters. She burst out laughing, “You guys are the biggest dorks I’ve ever met in my life!” The three girls rolled their eyes.
The men kissed their wives goodbye and left for their camping trip. Once they arrived at the campsite, Liam said, “So they really like Harry Potter, huh?” Rashad nodded his head. Drake’s face turned red, and he couldn’t quite look at the other men in the eye, “Yeah, Pam loves it. I don’t get it.” Liam looked lost in thought for a moment before he said, “Maybe we should take them to the Harry Potter theme park in Florida? I think they’d love it and I can’t get the image of Anitah in that skirt out of my head…” He cleared his throat and stood up, trying to hide that he needed to adjust himself.
“I’m in. Gen will be super excited. She has been bugging me to read the books and watch the movies. She even tried to download the books on tape on my phone,” Rashad said. Drake perked up, “Yeah, sounds fun! I...I mean...there’s probably a lot to do in Orlando, right? Not just The Wizarding World of Harry Potter?” Leo raised his brow at him using the full name of the attraction.
“Well if we really want to make them happy, then we should probably watch the movies with our wives. We don’t want to look like complete idiots. I’ll have my assistant book the trip then,” Liam said. “Yeah, we own all of the movies! I mean...Pam...Pam has all of the movies,” Drake suddenly stood, walking to the cooler. “Man, you guys are so whipped. I’m so glad Alicia doesn’t like that shit. We’ll still go, there’s a ton to do there,” Leo said rolling his eyes. The guys threw their beer cans at him, Rashad saying, “Yeah, we’re whipped. Who have you been texting non-stop since we left, Leo?” Leo’s flushed crimson, “She’s sending me some interesting information about...about stocks…”
Sunday afternoon, after watching the very last movie, Alicia stood up and said, “I still don't get why you guys love these so much. It's just not my thing.” Anitah rolled her eyes, “Easy, because the books and movies are amazing!” The door opened and the men walked in from their camping trip. Liam suggested they all have dinner together after the men showered and cleaned up.
The group went to the dining room. “We had an idea while camping. I had my assistant make the necessary arrangements for all of us to go to the Harry Potter theme park in Orlando.” Anitah, Pam and Genevieve all let out excited squeals. “You guys need to get sorted into your houses and find your patronuses!” Genevieve babbled excitedly.
Drake let out a snort, “You know who would be in Gryffindor? Liv...all Weasleys get sorted into Gryffindor!” He slapped his knee, laughing at his own joke. The other guys and Alicia turned to him with questioning looks. “Drake, you seem to know a lot about Harry Potter. Is there anything you want to tell us, buddy?” Leo asked him with a smirk. Drake’s cheeks turned pink, “I may have watched the movies with Pam…”
Genevieve scoffed, “Please! He loves Harry Potter. When I say love, I mean love. He has Harry Potter boxer shorts that he asked Pam to buy him for Christmas. What were they, Drake? The Marauder’s map? Also, I know that you and Pam love to role play. Exhibit A, look at Pam’s skirt and notice that it’s been sewn by the zipper because Drakey here has ripped it.” Pam tried to cover a smile which made her bestie giggle. Drake just started at her with his mouth open. “There’s nothing to be ashamed of, Drake. I think it’s sexy that you like Harry Potter as much as I do. I’ll show you exactly how sexy I think it is when we go home later,” Pam whispered in his ear making his face turn two more shades of red.
After dinner they went back to the royal quarters, and Pam sent the men and Alicia the website to get sorted into their houses. Alicia was the first to finish, “I’m a puffball. What’s a puffball?” The girls roared with laughter. “Hufflepuff, Alicia!” Anitah snickered. Drake and Liam were sorted into Gryffindor with Anitah and Genevieve. Rashad became a Ravenclaw along with Pam. Leo joined Alicia in Hufflepuff. The trip wasn’t scheduled for a few weeks so they decided that each weekend they would watch the movies together as a group.
The following Friday after everyone had gone home for the evening, Liam looked at Anitah, “I think the only thing that you love more than Harry Potter is the New York Yankees, love.” Anitah grinned, “Actually, I am pretty sure I love Harry Potter more, my king. I’d like to show you something.” She pulled Liam down an unused wing in the palace. “What’s all this?” Liam asked her. She giggled, “Since the rooms aren’t used down here, I took one to store some things…” She opened the door and Liam’s eyes widened in shock. He stared into the room that was laid out like the Gryffindor common room. He stepped inside and felt like he just walked into a Harry Potter retail store. There were mugs, cups, Legos, blankets, clothing, stuffed animals, action figures, and memorabilia displayed around the room. “Is that a replica broomstick, my love?” Liam pointed to the Firebolt that was hanging above the fireplace. “Actually, that’s the one they used in the movie,” she smiled at him. “I don’t know if I should be proud or scared,” Liam said with his mouth still hanging open. “Well, my king, since we’re the only two that know about this room maybe we should take advantage of the privacy.” Anitah closed the door and turned the lock with a click. She walked over to him, and pushed him down onto the sofa. “Proud, I’ll go with proud. Umm, where’s that skirt, love?” Liam said as he captured her mouth into a heated kiss.
Pam and Drake arrived home and walked in the front door. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into a sweet kiss. “Now, I believe you promised that you’d show me how sexy it was that I’m such a big Harry Potter fan…” Pam smirked and took him by the arm, leading him into the bedroom. She pulled his shirt over his head and threw it on the floor. She ran her hands up his toned abs to his chiseled chest and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him into passionate kiss. She started to unzip her skirt and Drake stopped her. “Leave the skirt on, baby. I’d like to rip it off of you again,” he growled, pulling her tight against his body and kissing her hard. He walked her over to the bed and laid her down, his hands roaming up her legs. “Drake…” she moaned as his hand disappeared up her skirt.
Leo and Alicia were laying in bed. “Babe, do we have to go? This trip is gonna be so lame.” Leo chuckled, “We can ditch them at the park. I'm sure there are plenty of places we can explore...clothing optional.” He pulled Alicia on top of him so she was straddling him. She could feel his hard length pressing against her wanting core. “I think you should get one of those skirts though...it might come in handy for when Bam Bam wants to come out and play.” Alicia smiled, “We haven't done the schoolgirl outfit yet. It would come in handy.” Leo pulled her down and captured her mouth in a hard kiss. “Now, are you ready for Bedrock, love?”
Rashad and Genevieve were getting ready for bed. She was standing in her closet, having just changed into her pajama shorts and tank top. Rashad came up behind her and kissed her neck. “Mmmm,” she moaned. “I have to admit, you looked sexy in that uniform,” Rashad continued to kiss down her neck. She laid her head back against his chest as his hands roamed her body. “Oh really? You should have seen me in high school. I was a Catholic school girl...with a very short skirt.” He growled in her ear, “Put that skirt back on...then meet me in your shoe closet.” He turned her to face him, “And, sweetheart? Wear those red peep toe Louboutins.” Genevieve felt a shiver go down her spine. All she could do was nod her head as she looked into Rashad’s lust blown eyes.
A couple of weeks later, the four couples boarded the royal jet for their trip. Anitah, Pam and Genevieve were giddy. Their husbands smiled at their excitement. Alicia sat with the three women, “I’m excited to get away. Don’t think you guys are going to make me change my mind about Harry Potter though. Not gonna happen.”
Anitah teased, “Don’t be so Sirius, Alicia. It’s going to be amazing!” This made Genevieve snort loudly. “Was that supposed to be a pun? Because I don’t get it…” Alicia said with an arched brow.
“Alicia, why don’t you ask Leo to show you his wand and you can show him your golden snitch,” Pam giggled while Alicia rolled her eyes.
Drake chuckled, “Don’t be such a muggle, Alicia!” The three women could no longer contain themselves and burst out laughing. Alicia stood up and sat down next to Leo, “We need new friends…”

Anitah and Drake sat on the royal jet, arms folded over their chests as they stared out the windows next to them. Liam sat next to Anitah, Pam next to Drake, each wearing wide smiles. It had been a couple of weeks since their last incident of accusing Liam and Pam of cheating and they had had enough. So, instead of taking them on the surprise vacation they were planning, they came up with something else to replace it.
“Ok you two,” Pam began, “you need to take this trip seriously.”
“Yes,” Liam agreed. “If this trip is to be successful then we need you two to at least make an attempt.”
“I feel like I’m being punished...and not in the enjoyable way,” Anitah huffed not looking away from the window.
“Right,” Drake agreed. “Hey, Brooks, maybe they should just get married...then they can annoy each other...” he pressed his crossed arms tighter to his chest.
Pam and Liam looked at one another trying to stifle their laugh at how ridiculous the two of them were acting. “Anitah,” Liam began, “you need this...you both need this. Pam and I can’t take it anymore with accusatory behavior from you two. No matter how many times we’ve tried telling you both how wrong you are, that we would never do that to you, you keep doing making accusations.”
“We need to get down to the root of where all of this is coming from. And since you two don’t seem to think there’s a root to it or that there’s a problem, and you just blame us for making you think that way, we’re going to have to force it out of you.”
“Drake...is your wife seriously Dr. Pamming me right now?”
“Sounds like it, Brooks.”
“There is no root! You two just do stupid stuff that is suspicious...ALL the time! There is your root!” Anitah chided, still not taking her gaze from the window.
“I’m pretty sure if you saw shit from our point of view, you’d think the same way,” Drake replied.
“No, Drake we wouldn’t, because we TRUST you two...which is why we’re going to this trust camp,” Pam responded.
“So you two better perk up or it’s going to be a looong few days,” Liam added as he and Pam both smirked.
Liam and Pam has canceled their trip to Mt. Kilimanjaro they had planned for Anitah and Drake and instead, after doing some research, they found a couples mindfulness resort in the foothills of the Himalayas that offered a three day relationship building package. The luxury spa was dedicated to restoring balance and harmonizing energy through a holistic approach, which both Anitah and Drake thought, and made very clear to Liam and Pam, was a crock of shit. Liam and Pam were both determined to get to the root of where the jealousy and accusations they continued to throw at them was coming from. They knew that both Anitah and Drake would be less than pleased with this, at least at first, agreeing to keep their calm and work to make them enjoy it.
The plane landed and a waiting vehicle took them to the resort. Liam and Pam secures the private package so it was just the four of them in the one area of the resort with no other guests to worry about. They made it there and stepped out of the vehicle, everyone looking around at the mountain views before they were led inside. Pam and Drakes room was down one hall while Anitah and Liams was down the other.
“We’ll see you guys in a few for dinner,” Pam said excitedly as her and Drake walked to their room. They made it inside and Drake flopped down on his side on the bed.
He looked around, his brow creasing. “Where the hell is the TV?” Pam quirked an eyebrow at her husband.
“There is no TV, baby.” Drake exhaled squeezing his eyes shut.
“Fucking perfect,” he groaned flopping on his back. Pam laid down on the bed next to him, her hand resting on his hard chest.
“Drake, I know you dont feel that this is necessary…” Drake shook his head.
“No, I don't, Pam. I think it's a ridiculous waste of time. You already know I have...family shit that makes me afraid of losing you. Do we really need to go over that again?” Drake turned giving his wife a questioning look. “I mean, if you and Liam didn’t do this shit, it wouldn’t even be an issue.”
Pam shook her head. “Okay Drake, but if that's all it is, why does this only come out with Liam? There's more to it and we both know it.” Drake huffed.
“Why the hell did I marry a therapist?” Pam smirked leaning over planting a soft kiss to Drakes lips.
“Hey, I know this is going to be tough. But it could be a really good thing for you. And for us. Can you just...keep an open mind?” She pleaded as her fingers wandered down his chest.
Drake fought back a grin. “Your lucky I love you so damn much.”
Liam and Anitah walked to their room and inside, Anitah walking to the sliding door looking out at the view. Liam came up behind her wrapping his arms around her waist. “Thank you for agreeing to this.”
Anitah crossed her arms. “Did I really have a choice?” She huffed in annoyance.
Liam chuckled and turned her to face him as she looked up at him with a deadpan expression. “Anitah...this is to help you, which will help us.”
She closed her eyes pinching the bridge of her nose. “We don’t need help, Liam. We don’t need therapy or counseling! This is ridiculous.”
“I’m not suggesting that we need therapy or counseling. I’m not suggesting that our marriage is in trouble. I’m suggesting that there is a reason you continue to doubt me. That you don’t trust me when I tell you that nothing is going on.” He tilted her face to meet his and leaned down pressing his lips to hers. “I love you, Anitah. And I just want to figure out where this is coming from.”
“I love you too. But it’s coming from stupid cryptic messages and dumb behavior...on your part. So stop doing that, and I would be just fine. See? All better. We can go now.”
She went to move and he laughed grabbing her hips bringing her back to him. “Ah, ah, not so fast. That’s not the problem nor the answer, my love.” He looked down at her smiling. “Please...just be open minded. Give it a chance.”
She let out a heavy sigh rolling her eyes. “Fine.”
They all changed and headed down to the outside sitting area for their private dinner and to meet with the monk that was leading the retreat for them. Drake and Anitah seemed to loosen up a little bit, not much, but a little. They had finished eating when the monk finally came out, a soft smile on his face as he bowed before taking a seat. “Namaste and welcome to our couples trust camp.” They all bowed in return to the man. “This will be a journey of growth and healing, both within your relationships and within yourselves. You will participate in a series of activities during your time here to facilitate the development of trust. This will include exploration of vulnerabilities and past betrayals with the goal of future healing. You will define your own path in this journey, getting as much or as little from this process as you put into it.” At his last words Pam and Liam both shot Drake and Anitah knowing looks as they glanced at them in return.
“I said I would keep an open mind! Don’t give me that look, Liam,” Anitah stared back at him as he smiled at her.
“Again, you’re lucky I love you, Pam,” Drake shook his head as she took her hand in his.
They looked back to the monk. “I do ask that you abstain from sexual release during this process also. The body holds the trauma of the past and forgoing release will help you to stay in touch with the feelings that are driving your insecurities. Reconnecting physically once trust is established will provide you with a deeply satisfying experience where you can reconnect and heal as a couple.” Anitah and Drakes eyes slightly widened as they slowly turned their gazes to their spouse.
Pam was biting her lip trying to stifle a laugh as Drake’s eyes bored into her. “You mean to tell me that I’m on this little voodoo vacation, and I can’t even touch my wife. This just keeps getting better and better,” he mocked as he slumped into his chair dropping his head back.
Anitah stared at Liam slack jawed. “You...you knew this didn’t you?” Liam looked at her and flashed a sheepish grin.
“It’s apart of the process, love. In order for this to work we have to follow the rules.” She let out a low growl turning her head away.
“I went two weeks before, my king. I can always go for longer.” Liam snapped his head over at her.
After they were finished they stood to head to their rooms for the night. “Bright and early tomorrow morning we will start this journey of healing. Your first activity will be a sunrise yoga session. There’s nothing more fulfilling than starting your day refreshed after the meditation of yoga. It will clear your minds and bring the task at hand more into focus.”
Drake snapped his head over to Pam. “Woah, woah, nope,” he shook his head rapidly. “Yoga?! I don’t do yoga!”
Pam laughed. “You do on this trip, baby.”
The following morning Liam’s alarm went off and he awoke excited, ready to start this day. He rolled over to see his wife soundly asleep and he smiled. “Anitah, love,” Liam kissed her forehead. “Come on, we need to get up.”
“Liam...it’s not even light outside...” she grumbled into the pillow.
“We have the sunrise yoga session this morning,” he kissed her cheek.
“Namaste...in bed...go ahead without me...” she rolled over. Liam shook his head with a laugh throwing the blankets off of her.
“Drake, come on. We’re going to be late for the very first activity!” Pam called.
Drake stepped out of the bathroom with a scowl wearing his gym shorts and a t-shirt. “I cannot believe you’re making me do yoga. And I swear if you or Liam tell Maxwell, Leo or Rashad this...” he shook his head running his fingers through his hair.
Pam chuckled walking up to him. “I won’t say a word. What happens here stays between the four of us.” He kissed her, his tongue slipping past her lips and she gently pulled away. “But you heard the monk...no sex until we have trust.”
He let out a growl. “Yeah, this was such a great idea, Pam!” He stomped away.
The four of them walked into the outdoor gazebo for the yoga class, Drake and Anitah slumping in with scowls behind a smiling Liam and Pam, the sun just beginning to peak over the mountain. They greeted the instructor before he asked them to each take a seat on a mat. “Ok, we will begin with simple breathing and meditation.” Pam and Liam smiled as they started, closing their eyes as they did the breathing.
Drake glanced over at Anitah with a less than unenthusiastic expression. “I need coffee...” she whispered and he nodded in agreement. After the breathing they were all instructed to stand. They began some of the easier, more basic yoga poses.
“Ok. Can everyone reach down and touch your toes.”
“That’s a bit of a stretch...” Drake smirked as Anitah let out a snort.
As they moved their bodies into more poses the instructor began telling them the benefits of yoga. “Yoga is calming. Yoga is affirming. Yoga is grace. Which of those are each of you feeling right now?” The instructor asked.
“I’m feeling calm,” Liam stated quietly.
“I feel grace,” Pam softly smiled letting out a slow exhale.
“Is there a fourth choice?” Drake asked, but no one answered. “No? Ok...I’m affirmed that this is fucking dumb,” he grumbled as Anitah began to shake with silent laughter.
The class continued on, Drake and Anitah both wondering when it would be over. Anitah heard Drake clear his throat and she looked over and he motioned his head to where Liam and Pam were standing on the mats in front of them, perfectly perfecting their poses in sync with the other one and she looked back to Drake rolling her eyes. “Just think, Drake, this is teaching us to stretch to conclusions,” Anitah spoke as she stretched her arms high into the air into a crescent pose, “instead of jumping to them,” she snorted as Drake began to laugh throwing himself off balance. Liam and Pam both turned eyeing them both.
They began practicing poses in free form, whatever ones they wanted to try from the set the instructor taught them. Anitah glanced over to see Drake staring at Pam’s ass as she was bent over in front of him in a downward dog and she chuckled, Drake slowly bringing his gaze over to her. She gave him a knowing look and he smirked with an agreeing nod. “Yoga is all about finding and becoming one with your center,” the instructor spoke.
“Psstt, Pam,” Drake whispered and she looked between her legs staring at her husbands upside down face. “I love finding your center,” he bit his lower lip and his eyes scanned over his wife’s form bent over in front of him with hunger filled eyes. Her cheeks flushed red as she snapped her gaze away closing her eyes.
“Focus, Pam,” she scolded herself.
Liam turned his attention to Anitah to see what poses she was trying and she could feel him looking at her and she hid a smirk as she dropped to her knees and began doing cat cow stretches, rounding her spine at first, then arching her back, her ass going into the air. After doing a few she slid her arms out in front of her stretching her back her hips still in the air, just how he liked her in the bedroom and he cleared his throat, a low rumble coming from his chest as she quietly moaned into the stretch. She looked over at her husband shooting him a wink and he closed his eyes now knowing she was purposely messing with him.
After their yoga session they decided to head to have some breakfast, having a free day since it was only day one and they were allowed to explore what the retreat had to offer. Anitah and Drake grumbled to one another as they walked out of the gazebo to go eat. Pam pulled Liam back for a moment. “Liam...do you see the shit those two are trying to pull? They're not taking this seriously at all!”
Liam nodded in agreement. “I know. I think they’re both still angry, but at themselves, that they were wrong, once again, and they’re taking it out on us. You know how stubborn those two are, to get them to admit that they were wrong.”
“They just feed off each other. It’s all some big fucking joke. And now that they found out we cant have sex, they’re just going to spend the whole time trying to torture us. They’re like little...immature...grumpy...assholes!”
Liam laughed. “They really do feed off each other. But...I think a place like this scares them more than anything. A place like this is going to force them to open up, so I think that’s a huge reason as to why they’re acting this way. We just...can’t feed into their game. We keep our cool, and do not let them get in our heads.”
Pam took a deep breath nodding. “Right. They’re vulnerable here. We’ll just...stay calm, encouraging, loving....and not fuck their brains out.” Pam gave liam an insincere smile. “We’ll be fine.”
The rest of the day they spent exploring the resort grounds. They walked down some trails in the woods through the mountains, Anitah and Drake still laughing and joking, but mostly with one another and not with Pam and Liam. They were being closed off and not really opening up at all. And when Liam and Pam did try and talk to them about the problem at hand, they were met with blame, jabs and jokes. By the end of day one, Pam and Liam were feeling exasperated and unsure if this was truly going to be any help.
The following morning the four met for breakfast and afterwards headed to couples massages. Anitah was finally feeling relaxed and this was definitely and activity she could get behind. Halfway during the massage she felt Liam’s hand grasp hers that was hanging off the table and she turned her head to him. “How are you liking this so far, love?” Anitah smiled contently.
“This...is amazing,” she sighed happily.
Liam chuckled as he gently squeezed her hand. “No, I mean about the trust camp as a whole. It’s day two, we have one more day...you haven’t really talked about much...”
Anitah took a breath. “Liam, I already told you, there is nothing specific...it’s just...dumb stuff you do.”
Liam gave her a look quirking his brow. “I don’t believe that, and I don’t think you do either.” He knew there was more to the story, that there was deeper issue at the bottom of it all, hoping to get it out eventually before the trip ended. He knew that if she or Drake didn’t spill it here, they were not going to tell them once they got back to Cordonia.
Over in Pam and Drakes room, Pam reached over taking Drakes hand, “Hey, you.”
Drake grinned. “Hey yourself.”
She smiled at him. “How are you holding up with all of this?”
Drake shrugged looking away. “If I don't die of boredom, I’ll be just fine.”
Pam exhaled. “Okay, but deflecting with humor and avoidance can only last so long.” Drake rolled his eyes. “Hey, I’m just saying, you’re here. Might as well get something out of it. Maybe it could help things. Up to you.”
That night they headed to dinner, the four of them sitting on the floor around a low platform table. Anitah and Drake seemed to loosen up a bit more since their massages that morning, but were still refusing to talk about anything to do with why they were actually there, but Liam and Pam were hoping that was going to change. Unbeknownst to Anitah and Drake, they were expecting a visitor after dinner. A short time after finishing they watched a monk came into the outside area where they were seated and bowed to them and they all bowed their heads in return.
“Good evening,” he smiled. “I am Daishin.” The group greeted him. “If you could follow me over this way, it’s time for the evening activity.” He walked over to a sitting area out on the grounds around a peaceful fire. He motioned for Pam and Liam to sit on one side next to one another and Drake and Anitah to sit across from them while he sat at the front facing both pairs. “Tonight we are going to try to be open. We will start the talking process, to try and get to the root of where these problems lie.” Drake and Anitah slumped in their chairs unenthusiastically. Daishin noticed the uncomfortableness seeping from the both of them so he decided to start with Pam and Liam first, having spoke with the both of them when they booked the trip, knowing why they did so.
“Ok,” Daishin began, “Pam, Liam, why don’t we start with you two. You are the ones who planned this trip, obviously having your own reasons for doing so. Can you tell us why this trip was so important for the both of you?”
He motioned to Liam and he cleared his throat. “For me, I want to know why Anitah feels the need to believe that I would do that to her. I, at least to my knowledge, have never given her reason to believe that I would ever have an affair. I am beyond happy in my marriage and I love her with all my heart. And for Drake, he is my best friend, for him to think that I would not only do that to my own wife, but to betray him by being with his wife...I just want to know where this is all stemming from. It’s important for all of us, I think, to get to the bottom of this so we can fix whatever it is to make sure it stops happening. Pam and I have been accused on countless times by them both of being together and it’s starting to put a strain on the relationship between the four of us.”
Daishin nodded then looked to Pam. “I agree with Liam. The constant accusations of infidelity are incredibly hurtful coming from both my husband and my friend. I truly cannot think of anything I have done that would cause either of them to think I would betray them like this. I love my husband and cherish my marriage. I don’t want him question that everytime I'm with Liam. To be fair, I enjoy Liam’s company...as a friend. We have both also been robbed of any sort of relationship too, because we can not be alone together or we are accused of sleeping together! That doesn’t happen with any of my other friends. I want to know why.”
Daishin nodded. “All very fair points. I see why you would want those questions answered.” He turned to Anitah and Drake. “Ok, Anitah, Drake. Let's start with the obvious...do you believe there are feelings that go beyond friendship between Liam and Pam?”
Drake and Anitah looked to one another then to him. “I don’t....no. I don’t think so. At least not on Pam’s part,” Drake shot Liam a look and Liam subtly rolled his eyes.
Daishin looked over to Anitah who was slumped in her chair staring at Pam and Liam. “I don’t know.” Pam and Liam both gave her a look and she shrugged her shoulders. She was refusing to open up at all.
“Ok, Drake, let me ask you this, since you actually...answered the question,” Daishin looked at Anitah for a moment before looking back to Drake. “What is it about Pam that makes you feel that Liam would want to be with her despite his commitment to you and his commitment to his own wife?”
Drake and Anitah quickly glanced at one another, both Liam and Pam noticing the uncomfortable shift they both had as they watched them sit up in their seats. “Well, Brooks-...I mean Anitah and I actually talked about this the night...we went to the study...It’s obvious that Pam is very similar to Liam...” He looked at Anitah for a moment as if he were looking for help answering, Daishin noticing.
“Anitah...you can chime in if you feel like it,” he said. Liam locked eyes on his wife, curious as to if she was going to say anything.
“Well...that night...I had said to Drake that I always thought that Liam and I balanced one another out.” Her eyes met Liam’s as she continued to speak. “That he’s...calm and laid back, and I can be a bit of a wild card...” she looked back to Drake as she swallowed that lump.
“But...” Drake began, his hands running along the length of his thigh nervously, “we said maybe after all this time...they both realized they wanted someone more like themselves...instead of like us...”
Pam and Liam each looked at Drake and Anitah slightly wide eyed. “Drake...” Pam looked at him with a sad smile. “Our dynamic,” she motioned between herself and Liam, “would never work. Liam and I would talk everything to death, we would never accomplish anything.”
Liam nodded his head in agreement. “We’re too alike,” he added. “We would more than likely drive each other absolutely crazy. You were right, Anitah, we do balance one another out. And that’s one of the many reasons that I love you. You keep me on my toes and you never give me a dull moment. You make my life fun and interesting.”
“Ok,” Daishin smiled, “It seems like we’re starting to get somewhere.” Liam and Pam both smiled, Drake and Anitah both sitting there still very uncomfortable. Daishin surveyed the two thoughtfully for a moment. “Drake, Anitah...let me ask you this...can either of you remember a time you felt a feeling of betrayal?” Pam and Liam’s eyes were locked on Drake and Anitah.
“Yes,” they both said in unison then snapped their gazes over to one another, both surprised by their own answers as well as the others. Liam and Pam leaned forward in their chairs both surprised as well and now very curious.
“Ok...and when were those times?” Daishin asked.
“Oh...I...I don’t really remember...” Drake looked down at his hands.
“It’s nothing...it’s silly anyway,” Anitah explained.
“No, you both need to be honest,” Pam stated.
Liam nodded agreeing with her. “If you both felt betrayal we want to know by who. And it’s not silly,” he said.
“Seriously, it’s nothing,” Anitah spoke, a bite in her tone warning Liam to drop it.
“Mines not a big deal either,” Drake remarked. Both Pam and Liam glanced at one another for a moment, watching as the two completely retracted.
After that last question Drake and Anitah went back to being fairly quiet, so Daishin decided to call the session for now. The four of them walked back to their rooms deciding to all hang out and Pam and Drake came to Liam and Anitah’s room and sat out on the balcony as they all talked.
“So why won’t you two talk about feeling betrayed?” Pam asked.
“It’s nothing, Pam,” Drake responded.
“Oh come on, it's obviously something,” Liam said. “You both have this feeling of betrayal and whatever it is you both feel, it obviously still bothers you.”
Anitah took a deep breath. “Liam, it’s nothing! Seriously, just drop it.”
Pam shook her head. “How about you guys seriously just tell us! Tell us who made you feel that way?” Drake and Anitah both continued to stay silent.
“Anitah you can tell me,” Liam said, “please...I want to know.” Again they didn’t answer, but Pam and Liam both could tell that Drake and Anitah were beginning to feel irritated. They both felt betrayed in situations in their lives before, but they were refusing to open up to Liam and Pam about it and they couldn’t figure out why.
“Was...was it me, Drake?” Pam asked and he looked up meeting his wife’s gaze. “I'm sorry. When did I make you feel that way?”
Drake shook his head again. “No, Pam, no. It...it wasn’t you.”
Liam sat forward in his seat. “Just tell us then? We want to be there for you both, but how can we if you won’t open up? Just talk to us. We want to know who you felt hurt by.” Drake’s jaw was clenching, Anitah’s hands balling into fists.
“Come on you guys! Who was it? Just tell us!” Pam stated.
“Liam!” Anitah and Drake both shouted out in unison. Both their eyes widened in surprise as they looked over to one another not realizing until that very moment that they had both felt betrayed by the same exact person. They both slowly looked over to Pam and Liam who were sitting there wide eyed and slack jawed.
After a few moments of silence Liam furrowed his brow, a pained expression on his face. “You...you both feel betrayed by...me? But why? What did I do?”

The girls walked down the hall and into a bedroom inside the hotel suite to discuss what just happened and what they should do. Anitah could smell the cologne in the air as they stepped in and shut the door behind them, it was Liam’s room, she would recognize that scent anywhere.
Each one of them was feeling confused and nervous, unsure. In a matter of an hours time, Liam had asked Anitah to come back to Cordonia with him, telling her he would end his marriage to Madeline, had offered both Pam and Genevieve a job at the new clinic there, and Leo had suggested that if Anitah came, to bring Alicia with her.
“Alright ladies,” Pam began as they all sat down. “This is...quite the turn of events!” She let out a breath. “Cordonia is not new to Anitah and I,” she motioned her hand to Anitah. “But...at least for me...I only ever intended to go there for an internship, not forever. It’s a great job opportunity, but for me, and I assume all of us, this is about alot more than a job.” She eyed each of the ladies.
“Pam!” Genevieve looked at her wide eyed. “This is insane! We just met these guys last night! I’m not packing up and leaving for a foreign country!”
"I know, Gen! Don’t you think I know how ridiculously, crazy this entire thing sounds? But...I...” Pam trailed off hiding the smile threatening to form. “I can’t explain it. It just feels...right. I mean, you hate your job anyhow, right?”
“I know...but I’m next in line for a promotion! Pam...this would mean leaving my parents and everything I know. We don’t even know what kind of jobs are waiting there. It’s too risky.”
"I mean, Anitah...what are the odds that you and Liam would run into each other in a club? I think you should go,” Alicia looked at her.
Anitah slowly brought her gaze to her best friend. “He’s married, Alicia. He’s the King and he already has a Queen. Yes, he said he was going to end the marriage. I’ve heard it before from him...which is how I ended up back here a year ago,” she dropped her head back down.
“Something tells me that this time he means it. I know I don’t know him, but it’s clear he still loves you. And, Pam, you and Drake seem to be made for each other. Maybe I’m delirious but, fuck it. I say we go for it.”
"Anitah...I've seen Liam in Cordonia with his 'Queen'.” Pam rolled her eyes. “She’s a royal bitch, pun intended...and he is absolutely miserable.”
“See!” Alicia exclaimed throwing her arm out at Pam. “You are miserable without him. Don’t tell me that you aren’t.”
“Ok, great! Then Anitah goes and the two of us can go back to Chicago, Pam. Have fun Anitah.” Genevieve slapped her hands on her thighs.
“Not so fast,” Alicia held up her hand. “Something tells me Pam may want to see where things could go with Drake.” Alicia looked up at her new friend smirking.
Pam looked at each of them for a moment. “I don’t know...maybe? I mean, Liam offered me a job, but Drake...he hasn’t said a thing. I don’t know where he stands with all of this.”
"Are you blind, Pam?” Alicia gave her a pointed look. “He’s basically a love sick puppy who is drooling over you.”
“And what about you and Leo?” Anitah chided as she looked at Alicia.
“Well...I could use a vacation,” Alicia shrugged.
"Am I the only one thinking with my brain instead of my heart?” Genevieve creased her brows as she looked at them.
“Um...hello,” Anitah raised her hand to Genevieve.
"Gen, your head is full of shit and your heart was a black hole for men...until you met Rashad. You may be playing it down, but he changed something big in you. Admit it!” Pam stared at her.
“He’s sweet, and so hot, and so...so good in bed...but I don't know...”
“Ok. That settles it, I'll go tell the guys we're in,” Alicia stock up.
“Wait...I didnt say I was in!” Pam looked at her.
“Sit down!” Anitah grabbed Alicia and pulled her back.
“Ok,” Alicia interjected, “show of hands...who thinks their recent bed partner is the best they ever had?” Alicia shot her hand straight up as Genevieve just blushed, not saying a word.
“Duh...” Pam smirked as she raised her hand.
“I didn’t bed Liam...last night...so I can’t say...” Anitah spoke very matter of factly.
“But he was the last guy you diddled,” Alicia chuckled.
“How do you know?” Anitah looked at Alicia acting offended. “I could have...diddled! It’s been a year.....” Anitah looked away not making eye contact.
“Because if you diddled anyone, you would have told my ass,” she cocked her head as Anitah’s shoulders slumped.
“But I’m not moving to another country for amazing, absolutely mind blowing sex...alone,” Pam stated. “But...I mean the job alone...might be worth a trial run?”
“Trial run? I’m listening,” Genevieve looked over to her.
"It might be worth going for say...a set amount of time. One month...what if we give them one month in Cordonia. Try out the job, see where things go?”
"That's a good point. I mean it does sound like a great opportunity. If...and that's a big if, the clinic works out,” Genevieve replied.
“And IF they want to keep us there...they have to earn it,” Pam smiled confidently.
Anitah stood from the bed and walked a few steps before turning to face the other three, hands on hips. “Are you guys missing the part where LIAM IS MARRIED?! This is just another scandal waiting to happen,” Anitah buried her face in her hands.
"Anitah, don’t worry about that. We can take care of this wife Brooklyn style. I know a guy. Forgettabout it,” Alicia waved her off.
Anitah gave Alicia a sideways glance. “She’s the Queen Alicia, she’s protected by guards...we cannot Brooklyn the Queen of Cordonia.” As much as I may want to, Anitah thought to herself.
“Listen, I've known you for like...a minute...but what does your gut say? Not your brain, not your heart,” Genevieve looked up at Anitah.
“My gut says to throw up, Gen...that’s what my gut says.”
“Well don’t do that...because gross. I think your gut is telling you to go and at least try...maybe Pam is right, you guys try it for a month to see how it goes."
“And what about you?”
“I really don't know...I’d have to think about it.”
“We dont have time to think,” Alicia chimed in. “We need to make a decision. I agree with Pam...we give them one month to wow us and then we can work out an extension if we like where it’s going.”
“I can’t make a decision like this! There’s too much pressure and too many variables. Liam never said it was all or nothing! So if you guys want to go, by all means...go. I need a minute,” Genevieve let out a breath.
"I need a drink,” Alicia added.
“Me too, sister. Me too,” Genevieve agreed.
“I need a Valium,” Anitah flopped backwards onto Liam’s bed staring up at the ceiling.
Pam, Alicia and Genevieve all walked out of the room a short time later and down the hall, Anitah staying behind, thinking. All of them were thinking in that moment. Thinking how absolutely crazy this sounded, but also how, at the same time, they all kind of wanted to do it. Pam and Genevieve both had jobs and families that they would be leaving behind, to fly to a country with no guarantee for their futures at all. Alicia would be leaving behind her own family and as the heiress to the family business, that would be handed over to one of her siblings. Anitah would be leaving her degree behind, yet again, and this time so close to finishing. She didn’t have family or any roots there though like the others, just her sanity and her safety net.
Alicia walked ahead of the others and Genevieve turned to Pam whispering. “I have to think about it. I can’t make this kind of a decision on impulse.”
Rashad approached them. “Sorry...I couldn’t help but overhear what you just said...you are considering coming to Cordonia?”
Genevieve shook her head as Pam stepped away giving them a moment. “I don’t know...this is crazy. This is not how you get jobs here in the U.S.”
He nodded his head thoughtfully. “It would be a great opportunity. To make your mark on a new clinic. They’re going to need people with you’re kind of experience.”
She looked up at him. “Don’t get me wrong. It’s an amazing opportunity, but this isn’t just starting a new job. This is starting a new job, a new life, in a foreign country. A country I know nothing about...and I would only know Pam.”
He sat down on the arm of the sofa, placing his hands on her waist. “Hey, you know Anitah, Alicia, Drake...me…” he flashed her a brilliant smile which she returned.
“I didn’t mean it like that. It’s a big decision to make in a short amount of time. I feel overwhelmed.”
He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her close. “I would love the chance to get to know you better. You and I have this...connection that I’ve never felt before. One night with you wasn’t enough.”
He leaned in placing a soft kiss on her lips. She felt the same jolt of electricity course through her body, like it did the night before. They parted and she opened her eyes looking into his for a moment before letting out a breath. “One month. I will go for one month to see how it works out.”
Pam walked back into the room and Drake stopped pacing as he looked over, just staring at her. She looked up meeting his hopeful eyes as he stood there with his hands shoved in his pockets. “So? What’s the...ah...the verdict?”
Pam offered him a soft smile. “Can we maybe...talk? Someplace private?” Drake offered a quick nod motioning towards his room. They sat side by side on the bed as Pam gnawed on her lip. "So...um...Liam, he offered me a job back in Cordonia.”
Drake nodded. “Yeah I was there,” he chuckled. ”Are you gonna take him up on it?”
Pam offered a tentative grin. “Well, that depends.”
Drake looked curiously at her. “Depends on…?”
Pam shrugged shyly. “On...on you, at least in part.”
“On me?”
Pam nodded. “I mean, yes. It’s a great job opportunity but...I wouldn’t be considering going if you weren’t a factor.” Drake's eyes widened in surprise. “So do you...want me to?”
Drake stared at Pam dumbfounded, unable to find words. He finally shook himself free from his stupor and began chuckling to himself. “If you only knew,” he mumbled.
“What was that?” Pam questioned.
Drake grinned meeting her eyes. He leaned in pressing his lips to hers, their tongues tangling in a passionate kiss. Drake pulled away breathless, leaning his forehead against Pam’s with a grin. “Come to Cordonia or don’t, Pam,” he shrugged. “But this...us...it’s not over.” Drake smirked, pulling away to meet Pam’s eyes. “I already told Liam this morning. Chicago sounds like a nice place to live.”
Pam smiled thoughtfully at him. “Ok...I’ll give it a go...one month. And we’ll see what happens.”
Alicia stood in the sitting area, Leo coming up beside her. “So have you come up with an answer?”
Alicia looked at him, biting her lip. She couldn’t just blurt out yes, considering the girls were still somewhat undecided. “We need to talk, alone.” Her eyes darted around the room before he smirked pulling her into his room, shutting the door behind him. “So, Anitah is not fully on board with this idea. Liam says he will end his ‘sham of a marriage’, but she says she’s heard it before.”
“I see,” Leo sat down on the bed.
“I don’t even know why we are having this conversation anyway. If Anitah doesn’t go, your offer was if she went, so no point.”
Leo reach out grabbing her hand. “I said that because I thought it might scare you off if I just came out and said what I really wanted.”
“And what's that?” She quirked her brow at him.
“I really want Anitah to come, for Liam’s sake, but...” he pulled her closer, “if she doesn’t come, I still want you to come with me.”
“You do? But, why? I mean...we just met, literally a day ago.”
“Because it may have just been a day, but that’s all I needed. I’m falling for you, I don’t do that. But something about you, I just want to see where this can go. I promise It will be worth it.”
“Ok. We decided on a month trial, so what the hell. I’ll go,” she grinned.
He pulled her onto the bed eliciting a squeal from her, pinning her arms above her head. “Come for a month, stay forever,” his lips crashed down against hers.
Liam walked down the hall after noticing Anitah didn’t come out with the other other girls. He walked into his room and saw her laying on his bed, legs dangling off the edge, arms above her head and her shirt up a little, exposing a small part of her stomach. “Anitah...are you alright? Have you made a decision?”
She turned her head and looked at him. “Oh, just peachy. And no, I haven’t made a decision...”
Liam came and laid on the bed next to her, propping himself up on his arm, looking down at her. “What can I do...what can I say to make you say yes?”
She looked away from him, looking up to the ceiling. “Can you turn back time and make this happen a year ago...ya know, before you went off and got yourself married?”
Liam sighed. “Anitah, if I could, then I would. I can’t tell you how much I regret my decision. I’ve thought about you every single day for the past year. When I have to pretend to be happy, I think about you. I’m always thinking about you. The thought of you is the only happiness in my life.”
She closed her eyes at his words. “Liam...I don’t know if I can go through it. For me to go back there...with no guarantee of anything working out, once again...”
“This thing between Madeline and myself is not a marriage, it never has been. I will be a divorced man whether you come back to Cordonia or not...I can’t force to you to go. But I am certainly not beneath begging, if it means getting the love of my life back.”
“Begging, huh?” Anitah quirked her brow, a small smirk tugging at the corner of her mouth.
Liam chuckled. “I can have you begging for something too...”
Anitah looked at him shaking her head with a small grin. She took a deep breath, not fully believing she was about to say what she was. “Ok, Liam. I’ll go and will give it one month. One month for you to...do whatever it is you need to do. After that month...if nothings changed...I’m coming back to New York, for good. And I won’t ever entertain this idea again. This is a one time offer.”
Liam’s smile grew wide. “That will be more than enough time, my love.” She looked over at him with a curious expression, as if she were silently challenging him to make good on that promise.
He stared at her for a moment before leaning down pressing his lips to hers in a soft, lingering kiss. They parted but only for a moment before he leaned back down capturing her lips again in a more impassioned kiss, his tongue swiping across her bottom lip gaining entrance and finding hers, rolling against one another’s, longing and desperation behind their every movement. His hand slid gently across the exposed part of her stomach, feeling her silky skin for the first time in a year as they became lost in the moment, his touch raising goosebumps across her skin. He slid his hand up underneath the fabric of her shirt, slowly working his way upward and she stopped him just before he made it to her chest.
“Liam...” she spoke breathlessly as she broke free from the heated moment. “This...this can’t happen. Not right now.” He gave her a confused look. “My chastity belts on until you have divorced papers in your hand, signed. I won’t be that girl who sleeps with a married man.” She gave him a pointed look.
Liam looked at her caught off guard. He closed his eyes and let out a soft sigh before opening them and looking back at her. “I can respect that...” he slowly nodded. “In the mean time, this chastity belt of yours...is that, uh...only locked for certain activities...or all?” He quirked his brow in question and Anitah shook her head with a grin as she stood up from the bed shoving his chest as he let out a low chuckle falling back.
“I should get a goddamn medal for that,” Anitah grumbled under her breath shaking her head as she walked out of the room, huffing the whole way. “A whole fucking year with no diddles...”
That night, Liam had Drake and Rashad accompany Pam and Genevieve on the 2 1/2 hour flight to Chicago to pack some stuff up and get things taken care of at their jobs while Alicia and Anitah got their stuff situated at their apartment. The woman spent the next couple of days getting everything figured out.
A couple of nights after they decided to take this jump, two cabs pulled up to the tarmac that held the royal jet at JFK, Anitah and Alicia stepping out of one, Pam and Genevieve stepping out of the other. The cabs both pulled away as the four woman stood there next to one another all staring up at the massive plane before them. They looked at one another, nervous smiles on each of their faces before looking back at the jet, standing there staying silent for a few long moments.
“I have a feeling this is going to be an interesting month...Cordonia here we come.”

Liam, Leo, Drake, Maxwell, Rashad and Isaiah walked into Kismet, music blaring and they headed to a VIP section. A short time later Pam and Genevieve came walking in and a waiter led them to the VIP booth.
Drake locked eyes on the tall brunette shifting in his seat as she and her friend, who Rashad was staring at, walked up to them. He watched as Isaiah stood and kissed Pam on the cheek. “Guys this is Pam and her friend Genevieve. Pam, you already know, but, Genevieve this is Liam.” They both smiled and waved at him as he waved in return. “This is Liam’s brother Leo, my cousin Rashad, Maxwell and Drake.” Pam locked eyes on Drake, immediately attracted to him as he gave her a sheepish grin.
“I hope you guys have enjoyed your time in New York so far,” Rashad spoke, looking at Genevieve the entire time.
“It’s been good,” Genevieve smiled at him.
As they sat there talking, Isaiah began to get on Pam’s nerves. They weren’t together, they weren’t an item, they had only hung out a few times during her time in Cordonia, but he was treating her in that moment like she was his, and she most certainly was not. Any time the other guys tried talking to her, he would try an answer the questions for her, or would just interrupt and start speaking to her about something else. Drake was watching her, seeing her starting to get irritated and he smirked as he watched her start to become stand offish and sarcastic with him, but he wasn’t taking the hint.
“I’m going to go grab a refill. Anyone want anything while I’m up?” Liam asked and they all shook their heads no and he stood going to the bar.
Anitah and Alicia walked into Kismet and to a booth getting settled while they waited for someone to come take their drink orders. “This place is packed tonight,” Alicia grinned as she scanned the room.
“Yeah, it is,” Anitah smiled. “It’s been so long since we’ve been out. We’re pretty boring these days,” she laughed.
“Well, were about to turn that around! I plan on having some fun tonight! Maybe getting into a little trouble,” Alicia smirked.
They sat there waiting while they talked, Alicia pointing out different guys on the dance floor, but Anitah just wasn’t into it. She hadn’t been into anyone in the last year. While Alicia was still with Mark, she tried setting her up a couple dates with friends of his, but Anitah hated Mark and she knew she wouldn’t like anyone that was friends with that egotistical tool box, so she always declined. She was more than thrilled when Alicia realized for herself what a jerk the guy was and broke things off with him, but it still bothered her and Anitah knew that. Alicia and Mark had been together for a long time, so she knew that even thought she was the one who ended things, she was still hurting. But with the selection in the club that night Alicia was finding plenty of reasons to get over that heart break.
“Well, it seems to be so busy, we aren’t getting any service...” Anitah looked around for someone.
“I’ll just go up and get our drinks. What do you want?”
“Makers Mark Manhattan, extra-“
“Extra cherry, got it,” she chuckled.
Alicia made her way to the bar, passing by the VIP section and Leo’s eyes landed on the woman in the tight black dress. “Well damn!” He grinned wide as he sucked in a breath. “You most certainly don’t see women like her back home.” Alicia walked up to the bar and stood there waiting for the bartender.
Liam was standing at the bar waiting after he ordered his drink, his mind still wandering to being in the same city as Anitah. A part of him was so tempted to call her and tell her he was here, to come out and meet him, wanting so badly to see her. As he stood there waiting, another bartender walked up to a woman standing next to him asking what he could get her.
“I’ll take a Malibu baybreeze and a Makers Mark Manhattan.” Liam listened to her drink orders and slightly smiled. Anitah used to always get Makers Mark Manhattans, but she always got it with and extra- “Oh and I need that Manhattan with an extra cherry, please!” Liam snapped his head over looking at the woman. A moment later the bartender handed him his drink and he shook it off and turned walking away.
Pam pulled Genevieve up from the booth, needing to get away from Isaiah for a little bit before he completely ruined both of their nights by annoying them to death. It was different hanging out with him in Cordonia, she didn’t know anyone else there and when they did hang out with was just the two of them. But now, being out with a group of people, the way he was trying to almost mark his territory when they weren’t even together, it was bothering her.
They walked up to the bar and Pam looked over spotting the bartender. “Excuse me,” Pam held up her finger. “Hello?” He stood there completely ignoring her as he served others that had come up after they did. “Excuse me!” She spoke a little louder.
“Seriously, is the guy hard of hearing? Hello!” Genevieve called.
“You two need some help?” They heard a woman’s voice and looked over to see a brunette standing there.
“Oh, no. We’re just...waiting for him to notice us,” Genevieve chuckled to the stranger.
“You gotta be rude, it’s the only way to get through to them here.” She turned her head slapping her hand on the bar. “Hey! Down here!” She shouted and he looked before making his way over to them. “What’ll you two have?” She smiled and Pam and Genevieve ordered their drinks.
“Thanks for that!” Genevieve smiled at her.
“No problem!” The bartender handed her the drinks she ordered and she grabbed them noticing Pam and Genevieve were looking for open seats at the bar. “There’s none free here, but my friend and I have a booth over there if you want to join us,” she smiled.
“Sure! I’m trying to avoid someone at the moment anyway,” Pam laughed.
The woman waited for them to get their drinks and they followed her back to her booth where her friend was waiting. “Hey! I found some friends,” she chuckled. “This is...” she turned to them.
“I’m Pam and this is Genevieve,” she smiled as they sat down.
“I’m Alicia, and this is my best friend Anitah.”
“Nice to meet you,” Anitah smiled.
“Likewise,” they both spoke in unison.
The girls sat there talking, Pam and Genevieve telling Anitah and Alicia that they were best friends who lived together in Chicago and they flew in to see a friend that was in from out of the country, never mentioning from where though, the same friend that was annoying the both of them. Alicia and Anitah explained that we’re best friends who also lived together, having known each other since they were kids and it had been a really long time since they both were out and we’re both nursing a little heart break so here they were. They all seemed to instantly get along, having this instant connection with one another, laughing and talking like they were old friends, not four people who had just met that night.
Back in the VIP booth the guys were all talking, Drake noticing Liam staring at his phone as if he were contemplating something fierce. “Li? You alright?” Drake leaned over to see Anitah’s contact information on his screen. He looked up at him as he continued to stare. “You gonna call her?”
“No,” Liam closed the screen and put his phone down. “I can’t do it...I want nothing more than for her to be happy, Drake, but I...” he trailed off.
“You can’t hear about it...I get it...”
The night continued on and Pam and Genevieve decided to head back to the VIP booth to check in with them so they didn’t think they had left. They told Alicia and Anitah maybe they would see them later. They walked up to the VIP booth and chatted for a little before deciding to head down to the dance floor for a little bit. Maxwell and Isaiah offered to go with them and they all made their way down to the floor.
As they were dancing Isaiah happened to look over seeing a guy checking out Pam and after a few drinks in him, it set him off. He ended up lunging after the guy causing a scene in the middle of the dance floor after he punched him in the face, Rashad running down to get him to stop, but he didn’t make it before the bouncers made it up to him and grabbed him, pulling him up.
“What the hell, man!” The guy stood up holding his nose.
“Stop checking out my girl!”
“I am most certainly not your girl,” Pam interjected but Isaiah ignored her.
“I wasn’t checking out a girl, I was checking out him!” The guy motioned to Maxwell whose eyes widened.
“Me? Aw yeah! Still got it!” Maxwell moonwalked backwards.
The bouncers ended up pulling Isaiah off the floor and kicking him out of the club. Pam shook her head as she and Genevieve left the dance floor and walked back up to the VIP booth.
“Sorry about your date getting kicked out,” Drake looked up at Pam. “Does that mean you guys are leaving?”
“He wasn’t my date...and no, I’m not going anywhere,” she’s sat down next to Drake and they got lost in conversation, shortly getting lost in one another.
As Drake listened to Pam talk about her time in Cordonia, he couldn’t believe that he hadn’t ever seen her at the palace before, but he really wished that he had. She had been there for that amount of time, all that time he could have spent getting to know her. He felt like he had this missed opportunity now that she had left and was living back in Chicago. Drake had grown up in Cordonia, and he knew first hand that woman like her were not found there.
“I’m really sorry about my cousins behavior,” Genevieve heard Rashad as he was sitting back down next to her.
“Oh...it’s ok. Not your fault,” she smiled at him. “You’re probably much better company.”
“Well, let’s see if I can make good on that assumption,” he smiled.
Genevieve and Rashad sat there talking getting lost in one another. She found herself unable to wipe the smile from her face getting to know him. He told her about his company that he owned with his friend and how he knew Liam and the others. She told him about her friendship with Pam and how they lived together in Chicago. Rashad found himself enamored by this woman, which was crazy considering her just met her, but he felt this pull towards her and he didn’t know why, but he didn’t want to fight it either.
A while later, Alicia stood from her and Anitah’s booth and made her way back to the bar feeling a little tipsy. As she was standing there waiting to order their drinks, she felt someone come up and tap her shoulder. She turned, her eyes landing on a set of baby blues.
“Holy...I mean...hi!” She smiled.
“Hi, yourself,” he flashed a lopsided smirk and Alicia felt her knees wobble. “I couldn’t help but notice you across the room and I just had to come say hello. I’m Leo.”
“Alicia,” she smiled.
“Well, Alicia, how about I buy you a drink.”
Liam, Maxwell, Rashad and Genevieve sat in the VIP section, Maxwell and Liam giving each other looks as Drake and Pam were trapped in a heated make out session and Rashad and Genevieve were lost in conversation with one another, both feeling very out of place and neither having any idea where Leo had disappeared to. They turned and began talking to one another about the plans for tomorrow, not having anything to do, wanting to explore the city more. They felt the table shake and looked over to see Pam slipping beneath it and their eyes went wide and they along with Genevieve and Rashad all stood making their way up to the bar leaving Drake and Pam alone.
“There’s no seats at the bar,” Maxwell noted when they made their way up.
“Pam and I met two girls earlier who had a booth, let me go see if they’re still there! They were fun!” Genevieve walked off to see if Alicia and Anitah we’re still at their booth. When she made it up to the booth it was just Anitah sitting there. “Hey!”
“Hello, again,” Anitah smiled as Gen sat down.
“Where’s Alicia?”
“She went to get us drinks but that was like...” Anitah glanced down at her watch, “almost thirty minutes ago. I guess I didn’t realize how much time had passed. I’ve been people watching,” she chuckled. “I saw a guy get in a fight on the floor and they kicked him out!”
“Yeah, that would be the friend that was annoying the shit out of Pam and I,” Genevieve laughed. “He’s no longer a concern. But...we left Pam up there with a guy,” Genevieve giggled, “would you mind if me and a couple others joined you at your booth?”
“No, not at all! The more the merrier! Why don’t you go grab them, and I’ll go see if I can find where Alicia disappeared to. I’ll meet you back here!” Genevieve nodded and they both stood going opposite directions.
Genevieve went back to the guys and told them to follow her to the booth, Liam offering to grab drinks for everyone saying he would be over shortly. Genevieve walked to the booth with Rashad, Maxwell staying to help Liam carry drinks back and her and Rashad sat down, getting lost in conversation again.
Anitah walked through the club scanning the crowd for Alicia, wondering where she had disappeared to. She headed for the restroom thinking maybe she went in there. When she walked in she could hear Alicia laughing with a guy in the bathroom stall. She turned to leave to give them some privacy as she laughed to herself when the stall door opened. She turned to see Alicia who gave her a mischievous grin. A moment later her rendezvous partner stepped out as he fixed his belt buckle and he and Anitah looked at one another and her heart began to race, both of their eyes going wide, neither one saying a word as they stood there starring at one another in stunned silence.
Alicia saw the way Anitah was staring at the guy, like she had just seen a ghost, and she quirked her brow taking in the way he was staring at her. “Oh, jesus christ, don’t tell me you two hooked up before?”
Anitah’s eyes stayed locked on his. “I...no...uh...holy shit,” Anitah ran her fingers through her long blonde hair.
Alicia looked back and forth between the two. “Well, you damn sure know each other. Somebody tell me what the fuck is going on,” she chuckled. “Leo?” She looked at him expecting an answer. Leo’s lip curved into a mischievous grin and Anitah knew in that moment just by his face that he was here. Then it hit her, the time of year, it being a year since she decided to stay when they came for the UN Gala.
“No...” Anitah shook her head pointing her finger at him. “Do not...”
“Ok,” Alicia stared at them, “what the actual fuck is going on? Anybody? No?” Alicia looked back and forth between the two. Suddenly they both bolted for the door, Anitah running to the booth and Leo running to find Liam. “You’re welcome!” Alicia shouted to Leo as he disappeared.
Anitah ran pushing through the crowd, heart racing as she made her way to booth. She couldn’t see Liam, not now, not after all this time. It would bring back too many emotions, too many feelings. He was married and she couldn’t face him. She made it up to the booth and reached for her bag and she looked up locking eyes with Genevieve who was smiling and then she looked next to her staring at a wide eyed Rashad who looked as though he had now seen a ghost, not saying anything as his mouth fell open staring at her.
She turned and lunged forward in a run smacking her face hard right into the broad chest of someone, sending her flying backwards to the floor, Genevieve yelping and cupping her mouth as she landed. “Mother fucaahhh,” Anitah cupped her nose squinting her eyes tightly shut.
“Oh my god! Are you alright?” She heard his voice and slowly opened her eyes to see Liam’s piercing blue ones staring back at her as he crouched down at her side, her eyes watering from the blow to her nose and her emotions at the same time. She couldn’t speak, just nodded her head. She moved her hands and his eyes widened. “You’re nose is bleeding!” She went to stand and Liam helped her up, standing upright causing the blood to flow faster.
“You need to lay back, keep your head back!” Genevieve spoke. “I’ll go grab some more napkins.” She handed Liam the last couple that were at the table before she turned walking to get more. Liam slid in the booth and pulled her down, her head on his lap as she took the napkins and pressed them to her nose. She looked up locking eyes with him and he softly smiled, but before he could say anything, they were interrupted.
“Oh my god what the hell happened to you?” Alicia asked as she made it up to the booth.
“She ran into me...literally...” Liam spoke as he continued to stare at her.
“Hello,” Leo smiled at her. He looked down at Anitah. “You alright, champ?” Anitah held her hand up giving a thumbs up as Leo chuckled. He looked back at Alicia. “How about I really get you that drink now?” Leo smirked. Alicia nodded and they walked outside to cool down.
Drake and Pam made their way over to the booth. “There you guys are, I thought you ditched me-“ Drake’s eyes went wide. “Brooks?! Woah! It’s so good to...what the hell happened?” He asked noticing the blood soaked napkin she was holding to her nose.
“She ran face first into Liam’s chest,” Rashad chuckled. Anitah glances over giving a shy wave to Rashad. “Hey! Even under the circumstances, it sure is good to see you!” She softly smiled. Just then Genevieve returned with a some napkins, a towel and some ice, Anitah placing more napkins over her nose. Liam looked up at Rashad and Drake giving them a knowing look. “Hey, Genevieve, why don’t you let me buy you a drink...” Rashad stood up and she nodded as they walked to the bar.
“Yeah, Pam, come on.” He dipped down softly kissing her neck. “I definitely owe you a drink...and much more,” he smirked as he slung his arm over her shoulder and they walked away.
Once everyone had walked away Liam glanced down at Anitah. “Hi,” he smiled, his hand stroking over her hair.
“H-Hi, Liam...”
“I was thinking what it would be like to run into you...not quite so literally though,” he chuckled. “Here, put some ice on it.” He took the towel and put some ice cubes in it. She went to grab it and he swatted her hand away placing it on her nose. “Let me help...”
“I can do it, Liam.”
“I know. But I want to help.” After a short time Anitah sat up off Liam’s lap and removed the napkins, the bleeding finally stopped. “Here.” Liam took the towel, now wet from the melted ice cubes and began cleaning the blood from around her nose. He locked eyes with her for a moment. “I...I’ve really missed you, Anitah.”
“Liam,” she shook her head and looked down. He tilted her face back up to look at him as he continued cleaning off the blood, his eyes not leaving hers.
Once he was done he set the towel down. “Let me go get you a drink, we can catch up. I’ll be right back.” He slid from the booth and turned looking at her. “Makers Mark Manhattan, extra cherry?” She felt the sting behind her eyes as she nodded her head.
Liam walked to the bar and got himself a drink and Anitah one. He made his way back to the booth, it was empty and Anitah was gone. He set the drinks down and glanced around, not spotting her anywhere.

Best of Friends
Just a short little drabble that popped in my head after a picture of Drake was sent during a group chat.
Part of the CGW TRR A/U, a collaborative effort by @ao719 @speedyoperarascalparty @leelee10898 and yours truly.

Pam came home from work exhausted. She and Genevieve had been putting in a lot of extra hours due to the expansion of the clinic. When she entered the kitchen she noticed Drake sitting at the kitchen table with a sad frown on his face.
“Drake, are you alright?”
He smiled weakly at her, “Hey, baby. I'm fine. I just missed you today. You've been working a lot…”
“I know. I'm sorry, I'll definitely make it up to you all weekend long.”
He pulled her into his lap and captured her mouth in a passionate kiss. “You sure know how to make me smile, Pam.”
She turned her body so she was straddling him. Just then her phone rang, making Drake groan in frustration. She looked at the screen and saw Genevieve’s name flash across it. Pressing the ignore button, she sent her to voicemail. “Now where were…”
Her phone rang, it was Genevieve again. She started to worry. Knowing her best friend wouldn't call repeatedly unless it was important, Pam answered it.
“Gen? This better be good…”
“PAM! I need you to come to Domvallier! I need someone here and Rashad’s out of town,” Genevieve cried.
“Oh my God! Is everything ok?”
She heard her pregnant bestie sniffle, “Please Pam, just get here.”
“Ok, ok I'll be right there. Just stay calm.”
Pam and Drake looked at each other concerned. They both stood up, and he grabbed his keys. As they made their drive to Domvallier, Pam’s phone rang again.
“Gen, we’re almost there…” She stopped to listen to her friend on the other end of the line and then hung up the phone.
“Go to McDonalds. She just wants an Oreo McFlurry but couldn't put her shoes back on.” She looked at her angry husband. His signature scowl donned his face causing her to burst out laughing. “I know...we can kill her after she has the baby.”

Alicia woke from small streams of sunlight peaking through the window, squinting her eyes as she rolled to the side. She heard the soft sounds of breath and opened her one eye to Leo, the guy she met at Kismet last night sound asleep next to her.
“Shit...” she mumbled. She quietly slipped from the bed realizing she must be in his hotel room, grabbed her scattered clothing and got dressed before heading out of the door, slowly shutting it behind her. She turned and walked down the small hallway into the living area of the suite. “Ah...m-morning...” She stared at the group of strangers before her, only recognizing the one girl from last night. “Pam, right?”
“Heh, yeah. Good morning,” she sat next to Drake sipping coffee.
“Is your friend here too? Gwen? Gen! Genevieve?”
“No, she’s at our hotel...with Rashad,” she chuckled.
“Alicia, is it?” The one man spoke, similar in appearance to Leo, tall, blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. She nodded her head. “Do you know where Anitah went last night?”
Alicia thought for a moment, some of the night a blur. “No...I remember her trying to stop a bloody nose...but after that. Wait, wasn’t she with you?”
“Ah, yeah,” he rubbed the back of his neck nervously, realizing Alicia didn’t know who he was. “I went to grab us some drinks and when I came back she was gone.”
“Leave it to Anitah to leave you high and dry,” she laughed. “She’s probably back at our apartment.”
“You’re her roommate?”
“Yup. Speaking of...I need to ask her what the hell happened. She saw Leo last night and looked as if she saw a ghost.”
“Well, she kind of did.” Alicia turned to see Leo walking out of the bedroom smiling at her.
“So you two do know each other?” Alicia asked, the night still somewhat blurry after too many drinks.
“Oh, yeah. She knows everyone in this room...except her...” Leo pointed to Pam. “I mean all the guys, she knows all of us.” Alicia quirked her brow in confusion and Leo looked over at Liam with a shit eating grin. “Alicia, let me introduce you to my brother, Liam, the King of Cordonia.”
Alicia’s eyes went wide, finally realizing who he was. “You...you’re Liam?!” Liam lifted his hand giving a nervous wave. “Now it all makes sense...” Alicia glared at Liam.
“Look, I don’t know what she told you about me-“
“Oh, she told me EVERYTHING about you,” she arched her brow with a smirk, Liam’s cheeks visibly blushing. She then looked over to Leo. “Ooooh shit. Of all the guys in that club, I had to hook up with the brother of the guy my bestfriend loves. Well, shes probably freaked out.”
Liam snapped his head up at Alicia. “Wh...What? Wait did you say loves? Like still loves, as in present tense?” Alicia looked at Liam running her fingers through her tousled hair not saying a word. “Did she say loved? Or loves?” Liam looked at Pam and Drake who just stared at him. “Well, which one?!”
“Let me take you back to your apartment,” Leo said to Alicia as she grabbed her purse.
“Can I go to? To see if Anitah is there? I really need to talk to her.”
“You can take me,” she smirked at Leo before turning towards Liam, pointing her finger at him. “You on the other hand,” she shook her head. “She told me everything, Liam. How you chose someone else, how you kept your relationship under wraps, and how you asked her to be your mistress. Do you really think it’s a good idea for you to come talk to her?“ Pam looked up at Liam wide eyed as she listened to Alicia.
Liam let out a heavy sigh. “I know I messed up. I know she was hurt, and it was never my intention. I would have talked to her last night if she didn’t disappear...and if she doesn’t want to hear me out, then ok, I’ll back off. I at least want to check on her and that nose of hers...”
“Mmhmm, sure you want to check on her nose.” She quirked her brow. “I may be suffering from temporary insanity...but fine. But the minute you upset her, I’ll kick you in the nuts myself.” Liam held his hands up defensively and nodded his head.
Leo, Alicia and Liam made their way to Anitah and Alicia’s apartment, telling the others they would be back soon. They pulled up to the building getting out of the SUV and Liam and Leo looked up taking it in. “So, this is it?”
“Yeah. I know it’s no palace, but it’s home,” Alicia chuckled. They walked up the stoop and Alicia pulled her keys out and unlocked the door walking inside, Liam and Leo behind her. “Nita?” Alicia called as they made their way further inside. “Nita?” It was silent. Alicia walked down the hall to Anitah’s bedroom and knocked on the door. “Hey sleepy head! Get your ass up!” Alicia turned the knob and peeked inside. “Huh...” she pushed the door all the way open and walked in. Liam and Leo shared a look and walked down the hall into the room, it was empty. Liam looked around the room, the smell of her perfume lingering in the air and he closed his eyes at the familiar scent.
He looked over at a small desk in front of the window and walked over looking at a stack of books and a school ID for Fordham. Alicia saw him pick up the ID card staring at her picture. “She’s back in school?”
“Yeah, she’s almost done, graduates next month. She went back to finish her degree...ya know, the one she was working on before she dropped everything to follow you...” She gave Liam a look. “That’s weird....” Alicia walked over to Anitah’s nightstand, her cell phone sitting there, her purse on the floor. “Well, we can’t exactly get ahold of her now,” she held up the phone. “That’s not like her to leave her phone...or her purse...”
“Did she have something to do today that you know of? Work?”
“No. We were supposed to go out shopping today...”
“Ok...well maybe we should go out and look for her?” Liam suggested.
“Um...you do realize we’re in New York City right? That’s like trying to find a needle in a haystack, Liam!” Alicia shook her head.
“Well there’s probably only so many places she would go, right? We can get the others, split off into groups. You can give us places you know she goes and we can all meet back at a specific location.” Alicia took a breath knowing this was going to be no easy task, but it wasn’t like Anitah to go off without her phone or bag. She agreed and while she changed Liam and Leo called the others to meet them outside of Anitah and Alicia’s apartment, Drake and Rashad bringing Pam and Genevieve.
A short time later Liam, Leo and Alicia met everyone down in the front of their apartment building. “Ok guys...I know this is no easy task, but on the push of a certain someone,” Alicia eyed Liam, “we’ll attempt to find Anitah. So we can pair off in groups of...” she counted all the people there, “groups of two.” Everyone immediately stood next to their ‘partner’, Pam by Drake, Genevieve by Rashad, Leo coming next to Alicia with a grin. “Wait...wasn’t there one more of you?”
“Yeah, my cousin, Isaiah. I sent him home this morning...pain right in my ass...” Rashad gritted his teeth.
Liam and Maxwell looked at one another, Liam rolling his eyes as Maxwell grinned. “Looks like it’s me and you, buddy!” Liam looked at the others with a pleading expression, but not one of them was budging.
“Ok,” Alicia began. “Anitah likes to walk the streets a couple blocks from here, some of her favorite cafes and stores are there, so Liam and Max you guys can head that way. Drake and Pam...Central Park, Anitah goes there running a lot. Genevieve and Rashad you guys can check the subways. Now there’s plenty of different routes, but check the ones going towards Astoria and Manhattan, those are her likely ones. Leo and I will check around Fordham, she could be wandering around there, in the library or whatever.” Alicia looked at her watch. “We’ll meet at Tony’s Pizza at 4. Everyone has their phones so we can keep each other updated.”
The groups split off going in all separate directions. Liam and Maxwell walked down a couple blocks to where Alicia told them to go, the busy sidewalk crowded with people as they began to search, Liam looking at every blonde he passed in hopes that it was her. They came to a cafe, one Liam heard Alicia mention as Anitah’s favorites. “Maxwell, I’m going to step in here and see if she’s been by. Do. Not. Run. Off.” He eyed him.
“Ok! Calm down! Geesh!” Liam stepped inside and Maxwell stood leaning up against the concrete of the building. He glanced over and saw a homeless man sitting on the sidewalk, clothes worn and dirty along with his face, holding a tin cup up out to passerby’s. He dipped his hand into his pocket pulling out some change he had, not have any bills, and walked up. “Here ya go, sir.” He dropped the change into his cup and the man smiled a gummy smile at him and nodded his head. Maxwell looked at him thoughtfully. “You look hungry? I’m gonna get you something to eat.” Maxwell turned and walked back to the cafe door as Liam was stepping out.
“They haven’t seen her. I’m gonna call Drake see how they’re making out.”
“Ok! I’m going to grab something in here real quick! I’ll be out in a jiffy!” Maxwell walked inside eyeing the small deserts. They were all too small, he thought. Wanting to get the man something that would last him he found something in the display case and smiled. “How much for that cake?” He asked the woman.
“A slice is $7.50.”
“No, I want the whoooole cake, please.” The woman’s eyes widened but she shrugged, took the cake out and put it in a box, Maxwell paying with his credit card. “Thanks! Oh! Can I have a fork please?” The woman handed him a fork and he thanked her before walking out. Liam eyes him curiously as he held the large white box and walked to the man sitting down. “Here ya go! I hope you like chocolate!” Liam chuckled shaking his head as Maxwell walked back towards him and they continued on their search.
Genevieve and Rashad walked down the steps below the streets into the subway station. “Ok, Alicia said Astoria and Manhattan.”
Rashad looked at the signs. “This way,” he pointed.
As they were walking Genevieve was looking around the grungy subway, her nose scrunching up at the sights around her. “This place gives me the creeps!” As they continued making their way down towards the stop for Astoria, she saw something out of the corner of her eye and turned, her eyes going wide as she yelped. “A rat! Ewww! Get it away, get it away!” She jumped on Rashad’s back, the unexpected collision knocking him to the ground as Genevieve scurried onto his back so her feet were off the ground.
“Genevieve!” Rashad grunted, her feet pushing his chest into the hard concrete.
“Sorry!” She looked down and stepped off his back helping him up. “Please don’t let the rat get me. I hate rats...and mice...and bugs! I really hate bugs. I hate critters. I only like puppies...and kittens...and other cute animals.” Rashad dusted himself off and shook his head laughing.
“I promise, I won’t let anything get you...nothing but me anyway,” he smirked at her and she laughed as they continued on their search.
Pam and Drake made into Central Park and began walking through the pathways scanning for Anitah. As they walked they came near the fountain where some people were roller blading through. Drake spotted a little boy, maybe seven, throwing twigs into their paths waiting for an unsuspecting victim.
“Look at this little shit,” Drake pointed the kid out to Pam as she chuckled. “I gotta see this...” They stepped over, backs towards the fountain, Drake’s arms crossed across his chest, and they watched to see if the boys plan was going to work. Just then, someone roller blading came whipping around the small bend, the wheels catching on one of the boys traps sending him flying directly at Drake and Pam. Drake grabbed Pam’s hand to pull her out of the way, but wasn’t fast enough as the man collided with them sending them both backwards into the fountain with a splash. Drake popped up looking over at Pam. “Are you alright?” She nodded her head through silent laughter and he heard the small boy chuckling. They both went to stand Drake trying to lunge to catch the boy and ended up losing his footing on the slippery bottom of the fountain sending him forward landing on top of Pam, in the water yet again.
“Drake,” Pam laughed. He looked down at her, a smirk tugging at his lips.
“Well, I wanted to be on top of you again, but this wasn’t exactly what I had in mind,” he chuckled. Pam bit her lip through a grin and Drake leaned in. Just before their lips met he felt something small hit his head and snapped his gaze over just as something else hit his forehead. “Ouch! What the-“ he looked up to see the little boy throwing pennies at him. “You little...” he grumbled as he stood and the boy took off running. Drake reached his hand down helping Pam up. “Remind me to kill Brooks when we find her.”
Leo and Alicia made it over to the campus at Fordham and began looking for Anitah. They checked the library first, walking through to see if she was there. They then checked the computer lab, nothing there either. Alicia smirked as she thought to herself and told Leo to follow her. They walked just off of campus and down the sidewalk to a large house, music blaring from the inside and she walked up the steps and inside.
“Heyyy! Alicia! What are you doing here so early? You know the real party doesn’t start until about 10.” The man spoke as he and another stood across a table from one another playing beer pong.
Leo looked at her quizzically. “I thought Anitah went to school here...how do they know you?”
“We, uh...frequent here sometimes,” she gave him a sheepish grin. “Hey Adam! I’m looking for Nita, you haven’t seen her have you?”
“Maybe I have, maybe I haven’t,” he smirked. “What’s it to ya?”
“Seriously...we’re kind of on a crunch. Can you not be an asshole and just tell me?” Alicia gave him a look as she cocked her head to the side.
“No can do, Alicia. You know the rules,” he shot her a wink. Leo didn’t know why, but he found himself feeling jealous in that moment.
“Alright fine.” Alicia took her purse off her shoulder and set it down. “Come on, Leo. We’re playing some beer pong against Adam and Brett here.”
Leo looked at her wide eyed. “Are you sure about this? These are frat guys...they basically eat, sleep and play beer pong...”
Alicia looked over at him. “Dude, are you doubting me? Either piss or get off the pot...I got his,” she stretched her arms out in front of her. Leo shrugged and stepped up next to her. They began the game, starting out cup for cup with the two guys. As the cups dwindled, the shots became more difficult. Brett threw the ball and made the cup, leaving them with only one left, while Alicia and Leo had three. “Alright...game face time,” she mumbled to Leo. She shot the ball making the first cup. Adam shot next missing theirs. Leo shot next, landing the second to last cup leaving them now tied. “Comeback kid strikes again, I just have a different partner this time,” Alicia laughed. Brett shot missing the cup. Alicia grabbed the ball and looked over at Leo. “Blow on it, it’s good luck.”
Leo smirked. “That’s normally my line, love,” he shot her a wink as he blew on the ball. Alicia shot making the final cup winning the game as her and Leo high fived. “Can you tell us where she is now?” He asked them.
“She stopped by this morning after she came from the library, said she was staying out for the day to ‘clear her head’,” he motioned with air quotes. “She mentioned going over near the beach. Don’t know if that really helps.”
Alicia and Leo thanked them and walked out of the house. “That was a pretty impressive show you put on in there,” Leo smiled.
“Impressive huh? Does that mean you got a thing for me, princey boy?” Leo looked over at her, cheeks blushing as he shook his head.
The time passed and no one had any luck on finding Anitah. Alicia had called their neighbor to see if she could knock on their door and check to see if she was home yet, but she wasn’t there. It was almost time for everyone to meet at the pizza place and everyone started making their way there, still scanning for Anitah on their way. As Liam and Maxwell were walking, Maxwell stopped dead in his tracks, causing Liam to collide into him. “Maxwell? What the-“ Maxwell shushed him and quirked his head.
“Do...do you hear that? I hear music! Come on!” Maxwell took off in a dash and Liam ran after him trying to get him to focus as they needed to head to the pizza place to meet everyone.
“Maxwell! Get back here! We don’t have time for these games! You’re worse than a little kid!” Maxwell didn’t listen and kept on going running right into the gates of Coney Island.
“Oh. My. GOSH! Look at this place! I...I’m so happy...” Maxwell looked around, the smell of the food filling his senses, the music and the the whoops and screams from the rides. “Liam! Look! A carousel!” Maxwell bolted towards the ride, Liam letting out a low growl as he chased after him. Maxwell made a mad dash, able to get on the ride before Liam got to him. Liam dropped his head back in frustration, standing there with his hands on his hips as he waited for the ride to stop, Maxwell waving to him with each circle past him. As he circled by again, Maxwell waved, but this time not at Liam. “Hi little blossom!” He called nonchalantly. Liam snapped his head around to see Anitah staring at him wide eyed holding a cotton candy stick in her hand, her mouth slack jawed.
“Anitah...” Liam stepped up to her as she continued to stare at him.
“Liam...what...” Anitah stared confused, “what are you doing here?”
“Everyone’s been looking for you all day...”
“Why?”
“Alicia said it wasn’t like you to leave your stuff at home...we were worried.” Just then Maxwell hopped off the carousel as the ride came to an end and ran over pulling Anitah into a tight hug as she chuckled. “Hey, Max...” Liam spoke, his eyes not once leaving Anitah, “text Drake and tell him that we found her, we’ll meet them back at the hotel. Then go have a round on the tea cups...” Maxwell grinned wide in excitement as he messaged Drake before darting towards the line for the ride. “He’s worse than a kid, that one.” Anitah gave him a half hearted smile. “Can we talk, Anitah...”
“Liam...I really don’t know what there is to say. I’m sorry I worried everyone. I didn’t know you would...all be together,” she creased her brow in confusion. “I just...needed to clear my head. Knowing that you were here...” she looked down at the ground. Liam looked up and had an idea and he took her hand, pulling her over to the ferris wheel just as they were loading riders and they got in a seat. “Liam, what are you doing?”
“This way you have no where to run...” he gave her a look. The ferris wheel started to move and Liam shifted as he turned to look at her. “I’ve really missed you, Anitah.”
“I’ve missed you too, Liam. But...you’re married now...it doesn’t matter. None of it matters.”
“It does matter, Anitah. It matters to me. I’ve been...miserable without you. And I wanted nothing more than to try and contact you when we first got here, but I kept stopping myself. Thinking...maybe you were happy...not wanting to upset you. But running into you...literally,” he smirked and she let out a soft chuckle, “I can’t help but feel like it was fate...I know I messed up...and I never, ever meant to hurt you, please believe that. Just sitting next to you right now, I feel happier than I have in the past year and I don’t want to lose that again...lose you again.”
“Liam...You. Are. Married.” Anitah gave him a look. “You telling me all of this...it’s not helping...because you have a wife back home.”
“Anitah, I fucked up.” Anitah raised an eyebrow in question as Liam grasped her hands nodding. “I did. I was scared and uncertain of myself, of my ability to rule...and I let my fear allow me to make the biggest mistake of my life. I let my fear allow me to let you go.”
Anitah pulled away brushing a tear from her eye. “Liam...don’t...” she shook her head.
“No, Anitah. I need you to listen. I was selfish when I asked you to be my mistress. I was scared of losing you when I asked you to stay. I’m tired of running my life by my fears. I have missed you everyday that we have been apart and now...” he brushed a stray hair from her cheek, tucking it behind her ear. “Now, being here with you, I am stronger and more sure than I have ever been of anything. Anitah, I am not staying in my sham of a marriage, I’m going to end it. I want the love I’ve always dreamed of. That’s the only way I can be the man I want to be...with you by my side. Come back with me...please...” he searched her eyes with a pleading look, a vulnerability she had never seen in him before. He leaned in capturing her lips as their seat hit the top of ferris wheel, that familiar spark coursing through both of them upon contact. They parted and Liam rested his forehead against hers. “I love you, Anitah...please...come back with me...”
The group all sat in the hotel waiting for Liam, Maxwell and Anitah, sharing their stories with one another of their searches, Pam and Drake now in a clean, dry set of clothing. The door opened and they all looked up to see Maxwell, followed by Anitah and Liam behind her. Alicia stood running up to her and pulling her into a hug. “You scared the shit out of me! And I’m kind of pissed you went to Coney without me...” Anitah chuckled as they parted.
“Sorry...I just...needed to clear my head...” she looked over and saw Drake, Rashad and Leo who all stood and walked up hugging her. “It’s good to see you guys.”
“Look...I almost killed a seven year old child because you...” Anitah looked at Drake questioningly as she heard someone laugh and looked over his shoulder to see the two woman from the night before.
“Pam...and Genevieve? Right?” They both nodded with a smile and waved. She looked back at Drake and Rashad arching her brow as they both gave her sheepish grins.
“You alright, Brooks?”
“Yeah...” Anitah nodded.
“So...I’ve made a decision,” Liam spoke as he stepped forward, giving Anitah a look before turning to the others. “When we get back to Cordonia...I’m ending my marriage to Madeline.” The three guys all went wide eyed with grins, Pam also smiling as she remembered how bitchy the current Queen was. They all then turned their gaze to Anitah curiously and then back to Liam. “I’ve asked Anitah to come back with me...” Alicia snapped her head over at her friend. “She hasn’t made a choice yet, however. And also, Pam, I wanted to mention to you as well...they’ve recently opened a new mental health clinic. Regina has been going on and on about how great it would be to have you be there to run it, and I know Genevieve here works in the same industry...they’re looking for more people to hire, there would be a spot there for her as well if she’s interested. Just...something for you both to think about.” He looked at Drake and Rashad who gave him a smile and then looked over to Pam and Genevieve who sat there stunned.
“If...Anitah comes...Alicia you should come with her,” Leo smirked.
The four woman looked to one another with shocked expressions, not one of them knowing what to say. “Wow, Liam...” Pam stated. “I mean...that’s an amazing opportunity...I just...I’m not sure.” She looked over to Genevieve in question.
“Yeah, I mean, it would be incredible, but to uproot everything on such short notice...with no guarantee of how things will pan out...” she looked at Rashad who was staring at her with a hopeful expression, wanting to be able to get to know her more, knowing it could be done if she were to come to Cordonia.
Pam looked at the woman and stood from the sofa. “Excuse me...I think the four of us need to talk...a...squad meeting of sorts, if you will.”

Rashad looked at Liam after telling him to have a seat. “Liam...as your friend, you need to listen to me,” Rashad spoke and he and Liam sat on the stools at the kitchen counter.
“Rashad, I just need to speak to her. It’s fine,” Liam waved him off.
“I really need you to be the one that does the listening...she’s really upset with you and I know why. I don’t think you do.”
“Because I was interrupting her in the meeting. I know. I was just trying to help. You know how Neville can be.”
“This isn’t about Neville! This is about you...and not just interrupting her. Liam, I’m trying to do you a favor before you get your head ripped off...or worse, your nuts kicked by both Genevieve and Anitah.”
Liam looked at Rashad confused. “Ok...what?” He scoffed.
"When you interrupted her to answer the questions for her, she felt incapable and you made her feel like a fool. A woman like Anitah doesn't need someone to speak for her. She does a good job expressing herself on her own. Then when she tried to tell you how it made her feel, you brushed it off...and...um...basically told her she was only meant to sit there and look pretty. Had that been me with Gen, I would have gotten slapped in the meeting without a doubt. She’s my girlfriend not my wife. So I don’t even want to think what she’d do to me if we were actually married. Be aware there is probably a hit on your life right now, unless you listen to your wife and apologize for being...well, an egotistical man.”
Liam shook his head. “Rashad, that is ridiculous! I didn’t mean it that way! I’m not going to apologize because she took my words out of context! All she had to do was ask me about it. Not go out and get drunk because she was angry with me because she misunderstood.”
“I really wish you’d listen to me...I saw the look on her face. I observed from an unbiased point of view. She wanted to hurt you. Then she got drunk and wanted to murder you. She’s usually a happy, fun drunk.” Rashad looked at Liam thoughtfully. “Don’t you remember a while ago when I told Gen our relationship was a mistake? I was lucky that she took me back and forgave me. I knew what I did was wrong and totally out of line. You seem to think that what you said and did was chivalrous. Please believe me when I say that it wasn’t. Let me ask you this...is it treason if the Queen and her tiny gang of friends kills the King?”
Liam rolled his eyes. “Rashad, it’s not that big of a deal. I’ll just explain to her that’s not what I meant. That she took it out of context. I’ve got this. I know how to handle my wife.”
Rashad shook his head. “You really are stubborn. Good luck, man. I’ll see you at the ball later tonight.” Rashad stood up and started to walk from the kitchen, but stopped and turned around. “One last thing...doesn’t Domvallier take the throne if there’s no heir?” He left the room chuckling shaking his head.
Liam sat there for a moment taking in his friends words, but he didn’t see why he couldn’t just explain to Anitah that she was the one who took his words out of context. He by no means meant that she was supposed to sit there and just look pretty. He knew there were some members of the court, like Neville and Madeline, who would try to undermine her being that she was still considered an outsider and she was also new to being Queen.
He was afraid that if he didn’t show up to that meeting, and step in when he did, that Neville along with a few others would try to purposely make her look foolish, to get her worked up knowing that this was her first solo proposal to the council. She just misinterpreted what he was saying and his reasons behind doing what he did. He was only trying to keep the vultures at bay, he was helping her, and he couldn’t understand why she would see it differently.
As far as the picture of his gorgeous Queen comment, Anitah had the ability to rope people into conversation, most diplomats and nobility drawn to her before she even spoke a word to them. And that was why he said they made the perfect team. She could talk to practically anyone striking up conversation, leading them into the topic at hand and Liam would be the one to seal the deal in the end with negotiations and deals. Play to each of our strengths, he thought to himself. That’s all he meant, there was no foulness behind what he was thinking or what he said.
Liam heard Genevieve and Anitah talking in the foyer and walked out, her purse thrown over her shoulder. “I’ll see you tonight,” she gave Genevieve a hug. “Thanks for letting me stay here last night.”
“No problem,” Genevieve shot Liam a glare and he subtly rolled his eyes. He would try and talk to her once they were in the SUV.
Liam said his goodbyes to Rashad and Genevieve and he and Anitah walked to the waiting SUV where Bastien was waiting with Brad. Anitah slid in and Brad turned and looked at her and she tucked her lips between her teeth. “Morning, Brad,” she sheepishly grinned.
“Your majesty,” he tried hiding his smile as he shook his head and turned back around.
Liam slid in and shut the door, the vehicle heading back to the palace. “Love...” Liam took her hand in his and she side eyed him. “I think we need to talk...”
“I think we need to wait until we’re alone,” she motioned to Bastien and Brad.
Liam smiled and she arched her brow, his smile fading at her not so happy expression. “Oh...right, ok.”
The ride back to the palace was silent and once they pulled up Anitah hopped out, not waiting for someone to open her door and walked inside, Liam hot on her tail. They entered their quarters and she walked to their room straight to her closet sifting through her dresses trying to find one to wear to the ball that night. “
“Anitah...”
“Liam...” She didn’t turn to face him.
“Can we talk now, please?”
“Go ahead. Talk...”
He closed his eyes for a moment. “Look...I understand that you’re upset with me about the council meeting yest-“
“Liam...the council meeting is least of my concerns.”
“And with what I said after the meeting...but you took what I said out of context, my love.”
She finally turned to look at him. “Please explain to me how I took you telling me that I’m ‘very good at looking pretty’ out of context...”
“I didn’t mean it the way it sounded, Anitah. I know that you’re not a trophy wife. I simply meant that we each have our own strengths to work with. You and your ability to draw people in and me with negotiating skills.”
“Are...are you hearing yourself right now?” She leaned forward, hands in her hips. “So you’re saying that I draw people in with my what, Liam? My good looks? Because no one could possibly be interested in having a conversation with me for what I have to say, it’s all about this,” she circled her hand around her face.
“No,” he dropped his head pinching the bridge of his nose. “Love, I know that you are far more than a pretty face!”
“But no one else does in your opinion...so instead of letting me handle things and show that I actually know what the fuck I’m doing, we’ll just let other people assume that I’m just a pretty face. Is that right?” She shook her head and turned plucking a gold sheath gown off the rack. “Is this ok for tonight? Will I make you shine with me on your arm wearing this?” She threw the dress at him. “Or how about this one?” She plucked a black off the shoulder gown down throwing it into his arms. “Or this?” A navy blue gown went flying across the small room smacking Liam in the face. “Please, Liam, tell me which dress I can wear that will make you look your damn best with your pretty wife on your arm!”
Liam dropped the dresses to the floor at his feet narrowing his eyes at his wife. “Stop, Anitah! I’m only trying to help you! To protect you from people at court and outside of court who choose to believe or doubt certain things about you and your abilities!”
“Like I told you yesterday, Liam, I don’t need saving! I’m not a damsel in distress! I need my husband to stand by me and support me and not when it’s just the two of us and no one can hear him say it, but publicly! And you don’t! You tell me I’m capable behind closed doors, but then when we’re in front of others you act the complete opposite! I don’t need you to hold my hand like a child! I need you to back me up! But instead of doing that, you have this mindset that it’s ok to allow people to believe that I’m nothing more than your pretty, insignificant Queen!” She stepped past him and out of the closet as he turned to go after her. “Do not follow me!” She shouted before she slammed the bedroom door shut behind her.
Anitah spent the rest of the day avoiding Liam as she seethed from their earlier conversation. He wasn’t getting her point at all and it was absolutely infuriating to her. And he had yet to even apologize for anything that he had done or said which was only making her more irritated.
She stood in the bedroom getting dressed in the gold gown she had thrown at Liam earlier. She fixed her hair into loose curls and slipped on her jewelry and heels before grabbing her clutch and walking out of the room. Her phone went off, Alicia telling her that the girls were all waiting for her downstairs in the foyer. She walked to their quarters door and opened it, Liam on the other side about to open it as well coming to get her.
“Love,” he softly spoke as he looked over her, a smile spreading on his lips. “You look-“
“Pretty? Thanks...” she stepped past him and walked down the hall. He let out a heavy exhale as he shut their door and walked behind her.
Anitah met the other girls down in the foyer and they all walked into the ballroom as the guys waited for Liam to come down. They watched as their King slowly slumped down the steps, his eyes locked on Anitah as she disappeared into the ballroom, each one of them trying to stifle their laugh.
“Hey, Li...I hear you’re in the dog house...” Drake chuckled.
“How did you hear...never mind.” Liam shook his head knowing Pam had said something. Rashad was right, these woman were like a small gang, and if one of them was pissed, they all were pissed. “It’s ridiculous! I tried talking to her earlier,” he spoke quietly as they all walked into the ballroom, “and she threw her dresses at me.”
They made it up to the bar, each one ordering their drinks. “Did you apologize?” Rashad asked.
“I didn’t get that far...”
They all shook their heads. “Well Alicia was going off about it to me,” Leo said.
“Same with Pam. I think her exact words were ‘he’s a disgusting chauvinist pig and should have his testicles removed and shoved down his throat’.”
Liam shot them all a look as they laughed. “She took what I said and what I did the wrong way! As I told Rashad, I was only trying to help.”
“She can handle her own, Li. She has no problem putting people in their place...just like she’s doing with you right now,” Leo laughed.
Liam glanced over to see Anitah making her rounds greeting the other members of court figuring he needed to do the same. “I’ll catch up with you guys later.” He set his drink down and began mingling.
The night continued on and Liam made all his needed rounds before deciding to take a break. He glanced over to see the guys standing at the bar with the other girls as Anitah approached them getting herself a drink. He walked up to them greeting the other ladies, getting stares from each of them and fake smiles as they tried playing nice even though he knew each one of them had him on their radars.
“Ladies, you all look beautiful tonight.”
“Yes, Liam knows a pretty one when he sees one, girls.” Anitah tossed back her almost full glass of champagne. “Now, just make sure you all stand here tonight and look pretty.” She set her glass down, Liam’s eyes locked on her. “Excuse me.” She walked away from the bar.
Liam went wide eyed. “What did I do now?”
As he said the words the girls all rounded on him, each one looking up at him through narrowed eyes. Drake, Rashad, Leo and Maxwell’s eyes went wide.
“Liam’s gonna die, isn’t he?” Maxwell whispered to Leo out of the corner of his mouth as Leo subtly nodded his head in agreement as they all stood and watched.
“Seriously Liam, what is your problem? The weight of the big ass crown must have dulled your common sense,” Alicia shook her head walking after Anitah.
“Are all Cordonian men this dense, or is it a Rhys brother specialty?” Stephanie asked.
“Hey!” Leo looked over at her as Liam stared as well.
“I’m serious, Liam! I’d like to snatch a knot in your ass right about now,” she shook her head walking away following Alicia.
“What did you do?” Pam scoffed. “Smart guy like you should have figured it out by now, right? You have all the answers. Tell me, Liam, it’s not enough power for you to run a country? To have everyone at your beck and call? You really need to strip Anitah of any ability she has to contribute to this great monarch of yours? But that's just the point isn’t it, your majesty. It’s YOUR monarch, YOUR council and YOUR country. Good thing you have a smart, educated and capable woman by your side to sit there and look pretty.” Pam turned walking away following the other two.
Genevieve shook her head at him. “Liam, Liam, Liam...you are in deep shit. You might only be married to Anitah, but you inherited all of us the day you said ‘I do’.” She pointed her finger at him then poked him in the middle of the chest. “So listen to me, and I swear the minute you open your mouth to interrupt me, I will kick you in the shin.” Drake and Rashad rubbed their hands over their mouths to stop the grins from showing as they watched. “You are a nice guy. You are a very sweet guy. And I like to think you’re intelligent, in most cases. But as a husband you are absolutely naive and stupid sometimes. You married her because she is the love of your life. Not only is she the love of your life, she’s also an amazing Queen and your biggest supporter. You made the one person that believes in you the most feel insignificant and incapable. If you can’t figure out that what you did was wrong, then maybe it’s time you start listening to someone other than yourself.” She kicked him in the shin before turning and stormed away.
Liam bent over grabbing his leg. “Son of b...aahhh!” He growled as the guys all snorted. “Does she have steel toed heels on?Jesus Christ!”
“I told you earlier, man, they’re like a tiny gang!” Rashad laughed. “I’ve been on the end of that before, and I do not want to be anywhere near it again.”
“Same,” the other three all answered in unison before looking at one another clinking their glasses together and tossing back their drinks.
“You better squash this, Liam. They can be be damn ruthless,” Leo warned him.
The night ended and Liam was saying goodnight to the last of the nobles leaving. He happened to glance up seeing as Anitah made her way to the top of the stairs before disappearing from view as she headed back to their quarters.
Liam followed a short time later, walking the corridors at a slow pace, his hands stuffed in his pockets as he thought back on what the girls had all said to him earlier. Something that Genevieve had said was lingering in the forefront of his mind, more than anything else that had been said. You made the one person that believes in you the most feel insignificant and incapable.
He never meant to make her feel that way, only feeling as though he was protecting her, helping her. Now he was realizing the way his words came across and why she felt the way she did about it, too blinded by his own pride to see it before. He shook his head cursing himself under his breath as he made it to their quarters door and walked inside.
He saw the bedroom light on and slowly walk down the hall and turned leaning into the door frame as he watched Anitah remove her jewelry, now in her pajamas. She glanced up seeing him and quickly looked away. He took a few steps inside the bedroom and softly cleared his throat and she looked up at him.
"Anitah, my love...I didn’t realize what I said was so bad until the girls made me feel about this big,” he held his thumb and pointer fingers close together. “I am so sorry I made you feel that way. Please know that was never my intention.” She looked down for a moment. “I have this need to protect you even though you don’t need it. I know that you don’t, but I can’t help it. I remember watching you during the social season and the engagement tour...and how you persevered despite everything. I’m sorry that it took our friends to remind me exactly how strong you are...and that you never needed me to stand up for you to begin with.” He walked up to her brushing his hand across her cheek staring into her blue eyes. “My Queen, please forgive me. I am a fool. And please don’t take my calling you pretty as an insult. Not only are you beautiful, you’re also smart, caring, resourceful and very capable. I’m a very lucky man...who got humbled by some very tiny women.”
Anitah let out a soft chuckle as she looked up at him. “I don’t need you to protect me all the time, Liam. I just need to know that you support me. That you have my back. I promise if I need help, I will ask for it. But I can handle myself. I know I’m new to all of this...but I’m never going to learn if you don’t allow me to figure it out on my own.”
“You have my support, always. And again...I’m sorry. I never meant to make you feel the way I did.” He leaned down pressing his lips to hers in a soft lingering kiss. “I love you.”
“I love you too, Liam.”
A couple of days later Anitah and Liam were in the conference room with the rest of the council as they were coming to a decision on whether or not to pass her proposal for the library upgrades. Liam was sitting while Anitah stood ready to take last minute questions and concerns from the council members.
They were ready to vote and Neville cleared his throat motioning that he he had something to say and Anitah could already feel the annoyance rising as she called on him.
Neville not once looked at her, but to Liam instead who was sitting beside her standing form. “King Liam...you’re wife’s library proposal seems to be an unnecessary expense. Seeing how she was unable to answer any of my questions without your input at the last meeting, I vote that we forgo her project this year.”
Liam narrowed his eyes as he sat forward about to say something when he caught Rashad’s stare. Rashad swiped his hand subtly across his throat motioning for him to stay quiet, a smirk forming on his lips as he looked to the Queen. Liam followed his gaze to Anitah who was glaring at Neville and he sat back staying silent.
"Lord Neville, you seem to be mistaken. I am very well versed in my project, so if you could please address your comments to me that would be appreciated. My dear husband only wanted to ensure that the council knew it had the King’s full support. As far as an unnecessary expense...I believe it is clear that this project won't take money away from current initiatives and will be funded through fundraisers. So tell me, Lord Neville...do you dislike this project because it is the Queen’s idea or is it your wish to stunt the children’s enrichment because you want to increase tourism to your golf course?”
Neville’s eyes slightly widened as he stared at the Queen whose expression was stern as she glared back. Rashad cleared his throat and looked down trying to hide his smile as Liam didn’t attempt to hide it at all, a wide grin forming. Rashad finally composed himself and looked up at her as she caught his eye and her shot her a wink, a smirk tugging in the corner of her mouth.
At the end of the meeting, Anitah’s proposal was passed, even Neville having changed his vote. She and Liam said goodbye to the members and as the last one left Liam shut the door.
He grabbed her hips and pulled her flush to him. “That...was...” he trailed off in a whisper with a smirk before he leaned down capturing her lips in his. “Sexy,” he whispered again against her lips as she chuckled.
“Oh? How sexy?” She grinned as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
“Let me show you,” his husky voice spoke as he reached over clicking the lock on the door.

Drake and Rashad stood at the bar sipping their drinks. They both watched their wives across the room talking with some of the donors for the clinic. Pam and Genevieve had been very busy the past month coordinating the event. Since they opened, the clinic was thriving and it was necessary to expand in order to help more people.
Drake’s eyes didn't leave his wife. She turned and flashed him a smile. He felt his member twitch in his pants as he took in her white backless dress with plunging neckline. He let out a sigh knowing they were stuck at the ball for another few hours. He looked at Rashad who was staring longingly at his own wife. Her tiny baby bump visible in her fitted dress.
“Rashad...how about a friendly bet?” Drake asked.
Rashad raised his brow, “What do you have in mind, Walker?”
Drake turned to him, “Seeing how we'd rather be at home with our wives than here, the first to convince his wife to leave early wins. Winner gets to pick the location for the next fishing trip and has to pay for everything the entire weekend.”
Rashad smirked, “You sure you want to do this, man? We both know Pam is more likely to follow the rules. Plus, Gen’s been more insatiable than normal since she's been pregnant.”
Drake thought for a second before responding. “You have a point, but I'm feeling confident tonight. Do we have a bet?” He extended his hand and Rashad shook it. “It's on,” Rashad replied rubbing his hands together.
Earlier that afternoon, Pam stepped out of the shower and reached for her towel. She dried off her body and then wiped the steam off the mirror, looking at her reflection. The bathroom door opened and there stood her husband in all his naked glory. He walked up behind her, wrapped his arm around her waist and whispered, “How about I give you a reason to take another shower, baby?”
Pam felt a shiver go down her spine. “Drake...as much as I'd love to, we have to get ready for the ball. Tonight is very important if we're going to raise the money to build a second location.”
Drake kissed her neck while his hand removed her towel and threw it on the floor. “I promise it will be worth being late.” His hand cupped her breast and his fingers teased her nipple into a hardened bud. His other hand moved down her body stopping between her thighs.
“Drake...we should…” she couldn't complete her sentence as fingers teased her wet folds. She threw her head back and rested it against Drake’s shoulder. He slipped a finger inside her. Pam let out a loud moan, “Drake...baby, that feels so good,” She reached back and started pumping his rock hard cock. He closed his eyes and groaned as his hands continued to work her body.
Her breathing became shallow as he continued to pump his finger. She could feel her legs start trembling as her orgasm approached, when her phone started ringing. “Don't answer it,” Drake growled. Her phone continued to ring incessantly. Drake let out a sigh knowing Pam would answer it.
“It's Gen. She wouldn't call repeatedly unless it was something important,” Pam said with a concerned look on her face. “I doubt it,” Drake replied, huffing before got into the shower.
She called her best friend back. “Gen, is everything alright?” Genevieve was hysterical. Pam could barely understand what she was saying. “Ok, slow down and tell me what's the matter?”
“My dress is too tight, Pam! It won't zip! And...and I tried my other dresses and those don't fit either,” Genevieve sobbed on the other end of the phone. Pam let out a giggle, “I'll be right over. It'll be ok.”
Both men approached their wives. They were greeted with smiles. “Hi, honey,” Genevieve said as Rashad placed a soft kiss on her cheek. Drake stood behind Pam, wrapping his hand tight around her hip, whispering in her ear, “Hey, baby. Have I told you how stunning you look tonight? Can you feel what you’re doing to me, Pam?” A blush crept on her cheek when he pushed his hard dick against her. He continued to speak softly in her ear, his breath on her neck sending a shiver down her spine, “I think we should slip out early so we can finish what we started earlier.”
She turned to face him and wrapped her arms around his neck, “I know you're eager to get home, but we can't leave yet. Gen and I are hosting this event. So just hang on for a little bit longer, I promise I'll make it worth your while later.” She pushed her body tight against his already stiff length. He groaned wanting to take her right then and there.
He looked over at Rashad and Genevieve. He had his arm around her waist, his face close to hers. She was blushing and giggling as he whispered in her ear. He noticed her nod her head as Rashad grinned from ear to ear. He had to think fast because he knew Genevieve was going to fold any second.
“Baby, I need you and I need you now. Gen looks like she's got this under control. Besides it was her fault that we got interrupted. She owes you,” he tried not to sound desperate, but he really did need his wife. Winning the bet was just an added bonus. “Drake, she's pregnant and all of her dresses were too tight. She was upset! Gen doesn't owe me anything because she would have done the same for me,” Pam snapped at him.
Shit, shit, shit! He thought to himself. “You know that's not what I meant, Pam. I'm just saying that it's a good time to leave. People are starting to take off, and there's no need for both of you to be here. So why can't we end the night now and go home, to our bed, with me on my knees?” He kissed her neck. She let out a soft moan feeling his stubble gently scratch her skin, thinking about their unfinished business. He had her and they both knew it. She grabbed his hand and walked towards the other couple.
“Gen, we’re going to leave now. Can you cover for me for the rest of the night?” Pam asked. Genevieve smirked understanding why they wanted to leave. Rashad cleared his throat, “Actually, we were planning on leaving early. My pregnant wife should probably get out of her heels and put her feet up…”
“Honey, I'm fine. These two clearly need to go home and bang. Look at Drake. He's dying to let out his inner pussy cat... ” Genevieve cackled as she grabbed her husband’s hand and led him towards some of the clinic’s board members. Drake said in a sexy whisper, “I don't need to let mine out…I need to get in yours.” Pam’s blue eyes were dark with lust. She took him by the hand and replied, “Let's go. Now.” He quickly led her out of the party.
Pam and Drake burst through their front door with their lips locked in a heated kiss. He lifted her up and carried her up the stairs. Once in the bedroom he put her down in front of the bed. His hands quickly unzipped her dress, allowing it to fall to the floor. He removed her bra and let it fall on top of her dress. He leaned down and kissed her neck, she threw her head back enjoying his soft lips and scratchy stubble on her skin. Her fingers made quick work of the buttons on his shirt and she pushed it off of his shoulders. Pam ran her pointer finger across his waist just above his pants causing him to shudder. She pressed soft kisses across his toned chest as her hands worked his belt and the fastenings on his pants. His pants and boxers fell to the floor and he stepped out of them. He pushed her back towards the bed, the backs of her knees bending when it hit the mattress.
She climbed on the bed and laid down. Drake hovered over her. He made the slow descent down her body. His mouth stopped at each breast, licking her nipples into hardened peaks. She gasped as his hands continued to venture lower on her body. He continued to kiss down her body and settled between her thighs. He stroked her through her panties, before he tugged on the elastic and slid them down her silky legs. Drake flung the lace garment across the room and let out a growl. His eyes roamed her naked body. She was perfect in every way and she was all his. “What are you waiting for, Drake? I need the Hulk,” she purred.
“Here, Kitty Kitty,” he smirked. His fingers parted her lips and his mouth captured her sensitive nub making her moan out in pleasure. “Oh baby, that feels so good!” She ran her fingers through his dark hair as he continued to lick her clit. He delved a finger inside her throbbing core and pumped in and out at a leisurely pace. He added a second finger, increasing speed. Her body tensed as she came closer to the edge. The pleasure became more and more intense until her body trembled as she came undone screaming his name. “Drake, that was amazing…” she said trying to catch her breath. He came back over her and kissed her hard. “I love you, Pam.”
“I love you too,” she gasped as he thrust into her. He let out a loud groan, savoring the feeling of her stretching around his thick hard cock. He kept a steady pace, pumping in and out of her. “Fuck, you feel so good.” He could feel himself getting close. His hand found her clit, and he stroked tight circles around her already sensitive bud. “Cum for me again, Pam. Let me feel you.”
“Oh god, Drake! Yes! God, yes!” She yelled as electricity jolted through her body when she climaxed again. He could feel her pulsing around his length causing him to moan loudly, “Fuck, baby. Meeeooowww!” He increased his speed continuing to pump in and out of her before coming with a guttural groan. He collapsed on the bed next to her before gathering her up in his arms.
Drake chuckled, “You know, I didn't think you'd leave…”
Pam smiled at him, “I knew you and Rashad had a bet. I didn't know what it was until I noticed Rashad trying to leave first. The Walkers don't lose to the Domvalliers.”
He kissed her forehead as he continued to stroke her hair, “You're damn right about that, baby.”
