this disability pride month, stop making jokes about people in wheelchairs standing up or walking.
can I stand and walk? sure, for a short while and with pain. the consequences for trying to be out all day without a wheelchair are that I'll be in bed for the rest of the week, too tired and in too much pain to move.
but the government won't give me my own wheelchair because they have the same attitude as these jokes - I can stand up, so I don't need one. exercise is good for you, you should walk!
it keeps me trapped in the house, unable to do anything more than short stints anywhere without borrowing or hiring a wheelchair - one that causes me pain to sit in and relies on someone to push me (usually with difficulty), because they're not going to have a high-end chair for that sort of thing.
it's not a miracle that a wheelchair user can stand or walk. it's something we should aspire to see more often.

if you're terrified for your country's elections next year because a lot of people seem to think the solution to the government handling an international conflict in an abysmal and deplorable way is to let a group of total monsters who would handle it MUCH worse AND also potentially doom huge swaths of oppressed people at home as well as our entire literal planet get into power, by ignoring the way our deeply flawed but also deeply entrenched system realistically works
clap your hands...?
(I cannot understand trying to stop heinous and unnecessary killing- which disgusts and saddens me, too! how could it not?! -by handing the election to people who want to do even more of that exact thing. the math isn't mathing, as they say)

Continuation of a continuation but it’s crazy how much Will has powers implications are made in an episode that Will isn’t even in.
Nancy says not one but two implicating lines regarding Will—
—and in the very same episode they introduce a device that can supress powers.
They tell us that Will has powers and then answer the question as to why we haven’t seen them in one go.

so I'm once again poking the murderpuppy au, and also, separately, thinking about the canon divergent au where Ben actually does follow Bail back to alderaan after they meet for the first time.
and thus alderaan just has A Resident Murderpuppy wandering around, being a whole situation. locals treat walking galactic extinction event like a stray cat, somehow doesn't end up with billion number death toll.
(rip to anyone negotiating with alderaan tho. making a trade deal was already difficult when you're up against queen and Mr 'lying to literal evil space wizards is a great couples bonding activity ', let alone adding in a murderpuppy who's fully onboard with 'if anything happens to bail or bails people I'll kill everyone in the galaxy and then myself.', and is fully capable of following through on that.)

the thing is whenever I see discourse on who can “really” use disabled accommodations coming from people with invisible disabilities I’m like. Ok. You guys need to realize being physically disabled does not automatically equal “I get access to all the cool disabled stuff now”, if you don’t actually need it, don’t fucking use it. It doesn’t matter if you’re physically disabled or not, if you don’t need the big bathroom or the special seats or whatever, then don’t use it bruh.

“you’re a nerd” “he’s a loser” and being a juice box brat in every challenge
like… Oscar indulging and smiling at all of Lando’s naughty favorite child behavior has absolutely unleashed some kind of power in Lando that he’s never gotten to have before

"Crimes shouldn't be illegal if they're objectively funny" has a point, but I'd like to put forward "crimes should be even more illegal if they're boring"

I am not actually interested in either of them, but I don't understand the interest or point of NASCAR.
I understand the interest and point of Formula 1. Like... I am not interested it in myself but I fully understand why people are super into it.
I don't get why people would be into NASCAR.

Imagine having a country that is struggling to send aid, especially to villages, when survivors desperately need it. Imagine same country refusing help from foreigners for politics. it's all fun and game until you need france and go visit macron for international relations though, don't you. acting though when it's about your people in misery.

Hey y'all! Weird question time again!
Do any of you have advice for where to buy good paper copies of road maps, specifically of the eastern united states? I'm thinking like the east half of Tennessee and parts of the surrounding states.
Some context: I saw that post about using our phones for everything being a single point of failure (true) and my dad is very hard to find presents for but appreciates being prepared for emergencies (he spent most of his 20s as a firefighter in wildfire territory) so I think he'd appreciate having paper copies of maps he could like keep in the car in case his phone ever doesn't work. The problem: I do not drive, and I have absolutely zero idea what features make paper maps easier or more difficult to use, so idk how to narrow it down to which one(s) I should get him
