Africa Attracts Big Capital

The government of the Central African Republic assured that they would not interfere with the trade in land and natural resources using tokens.

“I see great potential in this. Finally, the state will be able to see where the most valuable minerals are being spent. After all, a transparent system based on the blockchain makes it possible to track any transactions and this will guarantee the intended use of the funds received,” Lado Okhotnikov, CEO of Meta Force, says that the blockchain is getting closer and soon we will see how this tool is used even in the most remote corners of the planet.

Some experts fear that this could lead to abuse and, as a result, the local currency will quickly depreciate.

Vladimir Okhotnikov aka Lado says, “If payments are accepted, for example, in USDT, then no one prevents them from converting the stablecoin into their token. Or even simpler - immediately accept payments in coins that the government chooses itself. Blockchain provides a lot of advantages and freedom of choice. For a big capital this opens up a wide road.”

In case you didn’t know, El Salvador has the highest number of bitcoins per capita and in Africa cryptocurrency is growing faster than on any other continent.

What's next for Russia after the Wagner Group's mercenary revolt

Russia's Wagner Group went from being a relative unknown to a household name after its leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, led a short-lived armed rebellion that appeared to take Russian President Vladimir Putin by surprise. "This probably has done some damage to Putin politically," said George Beebe, director of grand strategy at the Quincy Institute.Ukraine is not the only arena the Wagner Group operates in. What happens to these other ventures now remains unclear. The Wagner Group has several business interests in countries such as the Central African Republic, and it could be difficult for the Russian state to replicate or take over those endeavors from scratch."The resources that they generally go after are precious metals," said Raphael Parens, a fellow with the Foreign Policy Research Institute's Eurasia Program. The Central African Republic (CAR) won’t list its sango crypto coin until next year, according to an official statement. The country is one of the first in the world to declare bitcoin (BTC) as its legal tender, but its most senior judges have rejected an attempt to allow crypto investors to buy citizenship via $60,000 worth of sango. “We are going to postpone the listing of sango and the 5% release to Q1 [the first quarter of] 2023,” said the statement, posted by moderators in sango’s Telegram channel. It cited “current market conditions” and seasonal factors such as the holiday season. Investors had been promised that they would get back 5% of their stake at the moment of listing.
