hey there. been a while, huh?

today i bring a personal project after getting to now more about pseudoregalia. what a good game. i miss good games sometimes. games that don't try to be movies or try to be convoluted, you know? so i am really really happy to get to know and play this game. and what a fun game.

a metroidvania with some n64 graphics - but controls like a charm. nice movements, potential for speedrunning and just a plain good game. played and enjoyed every second of it. i hope you do too!

took about one whole week on and off. wanted to take my time with it and looks like it paid off.

BLENDER revised toon shader testing!

Currently troubleshooting my HEAVILY revised toon shader for blender eevee. It's not perfect, certain elements I still can't get to behave EXACTLY how I want for every given scenario, ..but overall, I'm very happy with the progress and versatility made thus far. Animation demonstrating it's various effects will come ..eventually. ..Hopefully. Stay tuned for more updates.

How do you generally do your art from concept to finish? I'm particularly interested in how you get that high quality poster shine.

From concept to finish... I'd say I look for inspiration/ideas from photography and other artwork and anime, and try to apply similar lighting and moods to the illustration. I will use reference at some point for every drawing, however I try to keep things sort of "blurry" in the beginning, imagine an image coming into focus, that's how I like to think of it.

As for that "high quality poster shine?" I think I know what you mean. And I think it comes down to lighting and subtle details. After doing very clean lineart and celshading, it looks very flat and sterile, might even look bad, so I have to "light" it and create an atmospheric feeling to it if that makes sense! It's something I've noticed I've gradually and naturally developed in my art, so it does come from practice I suppose.

Commissions Open I have a Ko-Fi Social Medias Characters (Claudia Synderson, Aaron MacCròin) © @CentaurWorks  While waiting, Aaron was showing a video of something Claudia might like. To his surprise, she ended up really liking what she's seeing. Tho the unintended plus side was Aaron having a great angle of some of Claudia's assets. It all started from KureNaiZ1 (https://twitter.com/KureNaiZ1/status/1620419473110102016) with their image of the two characters. This was absolutely perfect for Aaron and Claudia that I kept it in my back pocket for the longest time! I finally got around to it but wanted it to be more of a simple piece. One of the rare halfbody images and it came out so damn well! I'm really happy with how Aaron came out since I rarely get to draw him and the effects behind Claudia, something so simple but love it's execution.     Hope you like it and Happy New Year everyone!
