cedric diggory x fem!reader
you were known for being an ice princess. being a slytherin, coming from a rich family, one of the smartest in your class; the whole package. but then you accidentally drank verisaterum, and the person you bumped with… had to be Cedric Diggory, the boy you liked for years.
warnings: language, the twins doing something illegal, emotional reader, little use of yn
reminder: english’s not my first language, so I apologize do any spelling mistakes.

“Morning, (yln)”
“Malfoy”
Of course, he didn’t say anything as you walked out of the Slytherin common room on your way to have breakfast. but you felt his blue eyed intense stare in your back. Unfortunately, you lived in a world where even Draco Malfoy thought that hanging out with you was… not good, but since his parents knew yours, saying hi to you was the least thing he had to do, mainly because it was his parents request.
You decided to go alone this morning. Well, you were always alone, but when you do have company, it’s your cat; Hara. She looked very pleased with her sleeping position, so bothering her was not an option.
You could say she was your only friend, the only one you had ever since your first year at Hogwarts and now, on your sixth year, everything was the same. Did you hate it? Not at all. You got used to being alone, even though you hated it at first.
Your family has a reputation, therefore, you do too. People say you’re an ice princess, they say that if looks could kill, many students would be dead by now and you’d easily be responsible for it. Despite your very low desire of having friends or even sharing your life with wizards and witches, they said many other things about you too that could have easily be something that describes the sweetest girl in the world.
The way you walk, as smooth as if you could float, small but decided and confident steps. Always smelling fresh, like just showered; whoever sat next to you could sense it so strong that some even said that your perfume is made with amortentia.
Besides, you were also your house Prefect.
Truth was, you were an easy center of attention, even when you didn’t want it. A Slytherin girl who’s family is rumored to be richer than the Malfoy’s, her best friend is her black cat, always wearing the most expensive jewelry, spending as much time in the library as possible to study and also someone who’s extremely intelligent that shows its passion for Defense Against the Dark Arts, being at the top of her class? How could you not be someone that people talked about?
You were a whole mystery. But they were too afraid to even try to discover you.
You didn’t know who even started to say that you were not someone good to be with, so you couldn’t understand anything at your first year and cried yourself to sleep every night because no one wanted to be around you. With time, it got better, maybe it’s better to be alone than being sorrunded by bad people, you thought, and it always made you feel better when your stone cold heart was about to melt when you felt too vulnerable.
But no one, definitely no one… makes you feel as vulnerable as Cedric Diggory.
Of course you knew who he was, who didn’t? He was a revolutionary insanely attractive guy that caught every girl’s attention even in his first year. For your first year in Valentine’s day, he received at least twelve letters and a massive box of chocolates gifted by an anonymous girl at your grade, and he didn’t hesitate on sharing it with his friends. On second grade, he gained even more popularity after becoming a part of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team, and by fifth grade already, many girls were desperate to ask him on a date and fantasize about what being their girlfriend was like.
You couldn’t deny that you were one of those girls… not the girlfriend part, but the one that could easily fall for him if your heart gave the chance.
You liked him in first grade, secretly, but as the months went by, the colder you became, the more you avoided him, and the more you forgot about his existence, just being another person you know that would not be relevant in your life.
At least, not until he bumped into you just when the year started, three months ago.
You were walking with your hands full of books, almost covering your view as you tried to find your way to your dorm again. Hara was next to you, as always, and you secretly wished she was a human the whole time so she could transform back into her original shape and carry some books for you.
That didn’t happen.
What did happen, is that you gasped as your books bumped into someone’s body; for the second time. The first one ran away when she offered to help you and you yelled at her to leave you alone, because you were too angry to even let her help you.
But how could you yell at his face?
“Oh, Merlin” he had said before quickly getting on one knee, and his big hands already started to pick up three books. You just stood there… silent. “I’m so sorry, I was coming around the corner and-…”
Your tired and big sigh interrupted his words. “It’s fine.” your voice said as you got on both of your knees as you fixed a piece of tour hair behind your ear. “It’s the second time today.”
“I’m sorry” he said again, much sadder this time, and you noticed. You thought you maybe were too hard on your words, or your tone, or the way your face was clenched, but why would you care? Weren’t you always like that?
You didn’t answer though, just silently picking up your heavy and boring looking books from the floor.
Cedric had looked up at you twice while picking up the books. He recognized you from the hallways and his classes, but didn’t find the need to introduce himself; he thought you wouldn’t care a bit. Of course, he had to think just the same way as everyone else.
You secretly wished he didn’t, but you also thought that this was going to be the only time that you saw him and actually talked.
“Are you going to your dorm?”
You frowned your eyebrows at him as you lifted your head. His brown were hidden behind some hair that fell on his forehead as his lips were parted, waiting for your answer. You nodded your head, suddenly remembering that you were actually talking to him, not staring at a fucking statue. You slapped yourself internally, feeling stupid.
“Yeah” your answer was short.
“Let me help you then, it’s the least I can do”
God, could he be more perfect?
But your hard ass had to complain.
“No, it’s okay. I know my way”
You heard his laugh when you picked up the last book from the floor.
“I know you do, but I want to help you. They’re too heavy for you”
You sighed loudly again, and with an annoyed expression on your hardly visible face, you said; “Look, I don’t need help, okay? Just-…” you stopped when you looked to your left. Hara was always there, but not this time. “Where’s Hara?” the fear in your voice alerted Cedric’s ears.
“Who’s Hara?”
“My cat!” you almost yelled, letting your books fall again as you quickly got up, already disappearing into the corner in which the brunette guy came from. “Hara?”
He was quick to follow behind you. “It’s a black cat, right?”
“What?” you asked, turning your head as you found him standing next to your body, looking down at you. “No! I’m not letting you help me find my cat”
“Well, too bad” he muttered before walking past you and brushing your shoulder. You scoffed, surprised with wide eyes as you heard how he called your cat’s name and made those same little noises that everyone does when they are trying to find a cat.
He did not fall for your complaining. Why did you like it so much?
“Ugh!” you shouted towards the ceiling while letting your arms rise up and then fall heavily to your sides. “Hara!” you screamed, knowing damn well that that would not make her come to you again, but being the only thing that came out of your mouth.
You could still hear Cedric’s voice as you silently looked for Hara in the cold hallways, books long forgotten, probably getting stepped on by many students.
For what felt like ten minutes, you were already convinced that Cedric was long gone and had stopped looking for your cat. Your thought got you relaxed, but also worried, were you too harsh on him? Too rude? You didn’t want to be rude with him, or with anyone but it was just what came out of you.
Cedric didn’t run away though. No, he stayed, he insisted. He had to be one of the few if not the only person that ever did that to you, at least for the past three years…
“yn!”
And then he called your name.
A single name falling from his rosy and pumped lips, letting it fall like thick and sweet honey that tasted as magnificent as the sweetest chocolate or cherry. You liked how it sounded, coming from him.
You turned your back, and he almost smiled when he noticed what he had in his arms, and the way your eyebrows instantly came back to their original not-worried expression.
Hara seemed a little too comfortable in his arms as she looked around nervously, as if she saw something she shouldn’t, or got scared by something. He stopped in front of you and gave you your pet in your arms, slightly letting his hands brush yours, but quickly letting go. The feeling was too good to be that short.
“Where were you?” you asked staring into her yellow eyes, as if she could answer. “You scared the living hell out of me, sweetie”
“Sweetie?”
Shit, he was still there.
You just gave him a quick look before kissing Hara’s head and placing her down to the ground again, pointing her with your finger to stay there, she meowed.
“Uh… thank you” you said, probably for the first time in months, and quickly feeling your throat go dry. He smiled, proud of himself because of course, he knew you never acted like this, in fact, it was like a totally different person in front of him.
He noticed the way your cheeks went slightly pink when he caught your baby-acting way of talking to Hara, he found it cute.
Cedric didn’t believe many of the things he heard about you over the years, like, you study so much in the library because you secretly read black magic in the forbidden section, or that you were so mean on your third grade that you made three girls cry the first day, when in fact, he knew it was another person. He almost hated the way people decided to treat you one day and never notice your existence again when it came to friendship.
You were popular, but still, one of the most feared persons. Did that make sense?
“Anytime” he replied, and you held your breath when he got closer to you, still looking at you, but quickly getting on his knees again to give your cat some little pats on her head and stomach when she just laid there, asking for more of his —probably— soft and comforting touch.
Traitor. You thought, looking at Hara.
“She’s so cute” you heard him laugh when your cat gave him the purest glassy eyes ever, enjoying his presence while you stood there awkwardly, just wanting to leave. “I think she loves me”
Once again, you didn’t know what to say, so you stayed silent again, playing with the edges of your robe.
He got up again, still standing too close to you. “You’re still letting me carry those books, right?”
“Huh?”
“Come on, it’s the-…”
“Oh, I know” you interrupted, lifting your palm as your lips clenched in disgust, but way too funny to not make him smile for the last time. “It’s the least you can do” you imitated and exaggerated manly voice.
He walked with you the whole way… and you hated the fact that you let him. If your arms weren’t feeling heavy with books, the ones that Cedric made you grab because they were the lightest, you would’ve crossed your arms over your chest all the way, but since you couldn’t do it, you decided to give him a silent treatment.
He kept eyeing you the whole way, that annoying expression on your face that really made him question to himself if he should even try to talk to you again.
It was not towards him though, but to yourself; how you hated yourself for acting so different all of a sudden, so… small. But this wasn’t your fault, was it? I mean, if he didn’t show up, none of this would’ve have happened, so he was the one to blame, wasn’t he?
Right?
You questioned yourself that same thing over and over again for the following week.
It was like he invaded your mind, everytime you looked at him, you heard him talk in class, or walked past him down the hallway. It was like you were always trying to see him too, it was pathetic.
Fucking pathetic. He only helped you find your cat, for God’s sake, why was that so important to you?
Maybe because no one ever helped you before, or the way he walked so tentatively towards you anytime he walked, or how good he looked with your own cat in his arms… so cute, so handsome.
Sometimes he was there when you tried to sleep too, inside your head. What was happening to you? Why were you desperately trying to keep him out of your mind all of a sudden? Why did you feel your heart skip a beat whenever he talked? Why did you happened to be thinking about his face so much? Why wouldn’t he let you sleep?
Was this what your talked about? She mentioned something about liking boys at a certain age, but every boy you ever knew ran away from you, so, was Cedric this boy now?
You certainly didn’t know what was it about him that caught your attention so suddenly, but stopping was not an option. After all, it made you feel good.
The more days that passed, the more confused you felt, and people started to notice. They saw how you were muy quieter now in class, how you barely raised your hand or how you just seemed… lost. Was something wrong with you? Probably, because you didn’t even eat your breakfast this morning. You just sat there, playing with your scrambled eggs and toasts, not even hungry enough to eat what you served.
There was some mumbling that came from behind you, the Gryffindor table, but didn’t even bother to look back at them, as you always do, so they would either lower their volume, or shut up. Instead, you took the cup in which you had some pumpkin juice, and drank it all.
And then, the mumbling stopped.
The whole Gryffindor group went silent, and that’s when you turned around, almost asking them to speak again… they were all staring at you.
Fred and George were mouth opened and all big eyes looking directly at you, as if something really bad just happened. His friends were whispering into each other’s ears, and you finally spoke.
“What?”
Silence.
“What are you staring at?”
“Um-…” one of the twins spoke first, but you found tell which one was it. Then he lifted his finger, and pointed to the golden cup on your left hand. “Was that your juice?”
You frowned your eyebrows, looked at the cup, and then back at them. “Yes” you replied “Why so interested?”
Silence was dominant again, as the twins exchanged a scared look and then looked back at you again. Your ears were starting to get red, nobody was telling you anything so they were either messing with you, or something bad had happened. You chose to believe the first one… but saying what you were actually thinking was not part of the plan.
“Alright, stupid looking faces, what the fuck is going on?”
The expression on their faces changed, surprised about hearing what you just said… you never insulted anyone. In fact, people thought that you were the kind of person to insult in their mind, but trying to be as cold as ever on the outside, that’s why everyone called you ice hearted or ice princess, you never actually said what you thought… you just tried to be as calm and as cold as always.
But you just insulted a group of teenagers, and that never happened before. No matter how mad you were, you always tried not to insult. People did it to you and it felt horrible, so why do it to someone else?
You gasped lowly while covering your mouth. “Fohmygad” you muttered against your palm. “Oh my God, I’m-… I didn’t want to”
“We know” the other twin had said. “You just drank veritaserum”
And your whole face transformed.
“What… did you just say?” Your voice tone was scary, just like a threat.
“It was not for you!” you recognized the girl that just spoke to you, Angelina. You sat with her a few times in class, but she was quick to run away from you as soon as class finished. “I told you you shouldn’t have done that! All the cups look the same” she hit one of the twins on the side of their head. He whined.
“How was it supposed to know she was going to grab Malfoy’s cup?”
You quickly stood up and placed the cup on the table, right next to, in fact, Malfoy’s breakfast. It was not too far away from you, and you had poured yourself the same drink, but Draco left for a second before you drank the wrong juice.
Fred and George kept talking at the same time towards you, fear in their voices and getting smaller and smaller almost hiding under the table. You ignored them as much as you could so nothing else could come out of your mouth, and with half your face covered, you walked away from the Great Hall.
But of course, not before bumping into another person again.
“Woah” Cedric said as he grabbed your shoulders. He laughed when he noticed it was you “We keep bumping into each other, huh?”
“Don’t talk to me” you bit while shaking your body off of his grabbing, and bit your tongue again as the gigantic door kept getting closer and closer, but it didn’t make you feel any better.
You didn’t look back as you walked as fast as you could towards the bathroom on the fifth floor, the Prefect’s bathroom, after all, you were one. It was a safe place, since no one was ever there at that time in the morning and not everyone could come in. You just wished that Myrtle was not there, she could be a bit annoying sometimes.
After letting your way in, you ran to wash your face with the coldest water that your skin could handle. Your skin was on fire, just like the rest of your body and maybe, just maybe, your brain. You have definitely gained a new enemy.
Verisaterum? Really?
Malfoy could be a pain in the ass but, out of all the potions in the wizarding world, the Weasley twins had to choose the hardest one to make, with no taste, no color, but most importantly, illegal to any use outside the Minister?
Merlin’s fucking beard, you needed a break.
“yn?”
You scoffed when a male voice called your name. “It’s occupied, genius” you answered with your back still turned to where the voice was coming.
The footsteps were coming closer and closer, and you were not in the mood to deal with any Weasley shit, you thought.
“Pretrificus Totalus!” you screamed while turning around, your hand already grabbing your wand and throwing it towards whoever it was the Weasley that followed you.
“Hey!” the male voice, not Weasley, screamed as he hid behind a wall, your spell crushing into the cold surface. “What do you think you’re doing?” Cedric showed himself, confusion on his face as he slowly decided to walk again.
“Cedric.” you called, putting your wand away. It was the first time you called his name. “I thought you were one of the twins”
“I can tell… are you okay?”
Yes.
“No”, you replied. You groaned lowly when the truth came out of your lips. In times like this, you really wished these kind of potions didn’t exist, it was hard to hold back their enchantment. “I just drank the most stupid potion that the Weasley twins could think of to piss off Malfoy”
He placed his hands inside the front pockets of his pants as he laughed. “Verisaterum?”
“How’d you know?”
He clicked his tongue, making his way towards you again. “They joke about it too much” he leaned his back against the sink you were gripping tightly with your hands.
You took a deep breath and stayed silent for a moment, analyzing your reflection as you asked, “How long does it last?”
“Depends on how successful it is. It can go away between one hour and six”
“Six hours!?” you yelled to his face, then scoffed while letting an annoyed smile draw on your face. “For the love of….”
“We can always ask Snape for the antidote… but that would mean you tell him about the twins’s action and that was illegal”
You bit your tongue as your feet bobbed up and down, snapping your toes onto the shiny floor again and again as your breathing was a clear sign of how bad you were feeling.
“Forget it. I’ll just wait”
Your knees bended as you sat on the floor, right next to Cedric’s legs, and letting your head fall against the cold pipe under the sink.
“You’ll wait up until six hours before you speak again?” his voice could perfectly fit with another type of quiestion… ‘are you crazy?’ would be the perfect one.
But you just nodded, not even looking at his perfect face. “It’s not like I have someone to talk to, anyways”
Ouch.
Cedric bit the inside of his cheek as he looked down at you, feeling bad for you and how vulnerable were feeling, but being smart enough to keep that thought to himself.
“Or… you can talk to me”
You clicked your tongue and laughed coldly. “Yeah, right”
“Really” he insisted as you saw his figure squat next to yours, finally dropping his whole weight to the floor, imitating your posture. “By this time you should already know I’m not someone who falls for your complains, right?”
“You’re right” you replied as you played with your fingers nervously. “That’s good”
Shit, shut up already.
“Why?”
“‘Cause I like it… oh my god” you covered your face “I was not supposed to say that”
Cedric laughed again.
“You like my company?”
No, no, no, no.
“Yes” you whined “Please stop asking me questions!”
He let out a louder laugh this time. “Why? It’s fun”
“Yeah, you drink verisaterum and we’ll see if it’s funny, smart boy”
“Sorry”
He stayed silent after that, and so did you. Your cheeks were flushed with embarrassment as you kept wishing that this potion was so poorly made that it only lasted one hour, but the effect didn’t seem to go away any sooner.
You could feel it because that’s just how your mind felt too. Suddenly the thought of not saying the truth to any question was not an option in your mind. Did you even know what a lie was? God, you felt so weak that you hated yourself. Why couldn’t you be like those wizards you read about? The ones that can resist it?
Your whole reputation and personality would’ve stayed intact if you could.
But right now, sitting right next to Cedric Diggory, asking you questions, and with red cheeks… that just ruined the whole image that people thought you had.
“Do you mind if I ask you something?” he suddenly stammered and it made you jump slightly. He had leaned closer to your ear, as if sitting next to him was not enough to hear him.
“I do” you answered before laughing to yourself “That was the only answer that did not feel forced to come out”
Cedric laughed too, and he took his time before deciding what to ask you, trying to find the correct words to say to not make you mad, or walk away and leave.
“Is it… are you really how people say you are? I mean, I see that you can be as cold as you want but, is that who you are?”
Your eyes made him nervous. After his lips closed, your face just inches away from his, you just stayed there staring at him. You bit your own lip as you kept looking at his grey eyes, trying to find any sign that showed you that he really didn’t care about it, or that the wrinkles on his skin would show up like anytime he laugh, another sign that he was just messing with you, and he really couldn’t care in the slightest about you. But he didn’t move.
So you sighed. “No”
Cedric nodded, more than satisfied with that answer. He was right.
But you had a lot to say, even though he didn’t ask you that much.
“I guess I became what people started to say I was, or what I started to hear about myself. I wasn’t always cold, or I wasn’t always pushing people away from me. Actually, I was the one trying to have lots of friends and be myself with many people but they just… I don’t know, they felt threatened, so… let’s just say I got mad with my own life and decided to not let myself feel vulnerable again, because I don’t deserve it”
Another big gap of silence… and your eyes slowly got filled with tears.
“I’m not who everyone says I am. Ice princess, the hell” you laughed “I mean, sorry I’m not a sweetheart to everyone that gave me nicknames! They expected me to be like this so, here they go”
You sniffed while your nose got red and puffy. Not a single tear was dropped but you still looked so heartbroken that it made the boy next to you almost cry too. You didn’t even complain about the potion this time, because you finally had thrown again that massive rock that just kept hurting your chest over and over again.
“There was only one person that treated me nicely in the last three years”
He frowned his eyebrows. “Who?”
“You”
You had turned your head towards him again, with a small smile on your lips. He knew it was going to be hard for you to thank him, but the shiny look in your eyes was just enough for him to realize. “Really?” he asked.
You nodded, still smiling. “Yes, it’s like a bonus point”
“Bonus point?”
“Because I like you”
Fuck… fuck!
“I-…”
“Wha-…” you both started taking at the same time.
It was like a fucking movie. Both of you frozen in time, staring at each other’s faces as you tried to say the correct words, but nothing came to mind.
Cedric could feel his heart pounding in his ears, while you wanted to crash your head to the nearest wall.
“You…” he started, but didn’t finish, at least not what he initially wanted to say. “Are you for real?”
“No, Diggory, I just fucking lied to your face, can you believe it?… Of course I’m for real, dingus!” you yelled.
Cedric bit his lip as he turned his head to the opposite side, trying to bite back his laugh. “Okay, I get it, it was a dumb question”
But then he laughed. God, his laugh, his perfect little giggle. It made you smile.
“I kinda like you too”
Your neck snapped so hard towards his direction that you thought that maybe, you just died.
Your lips kept opening and closing everytime you tried to say something. For some reason, none of this seemed like a joke to you, almost as if the potion’s effect had affected Cedric too. Something about this felt real, maybe it was because you openly talked about your feeling with him. He knew you weren’t bad, he always knew, he just wanted you to confirm it.
Maybe drinking verisaterum wasn’t as bad as you thought.
Your heart pounded heavily in your chest when he fixed a piece of your hair behind your ear, and the lightest yet burning touch of his fingers against your jawline made your breath hitch once again. He smirked again, as he always does, “You’re really beautiful” he cooed, as his hot breath hit your cheekbone and left behind a sweet feeling that you never wanted to get rid of.
He then got up, as swiftly as a leaf would do, and extended his hand to you.
“What?” you debated.
“Let’s go for a walk. I feel like I have to ask you a few more questions before I decided which place I’m taking you to this weekend”

a/n: mentions what happened to Cedric in the maze in detail, mentions claustrophobia, and implied panic attack
Tumblr media
Cedric would never be the same after the Triwizard Tournament.
Not everything had changed. He was still the same loyal and compassionate boy you’d always loved, but he would never be as carefree as he once was. Slowly, his hair had been growing out; nothing major, but just enough to cover his eyes. His sleep pattern was in a downward spiral too. Almost every night, he had grim nightmares about what happened during the tournament, and it caused him to fall asleep in his classes often. He confessed to you the terrifying memories he had from the maze. You could remember in great detail when he told you about the suffocating tunnels of ivy that surrounded him as he tried to move through the maze, making it almost impossible to breathe. The experience was suffocating. He was even more scared by the overgrown roots that wrapped around him and attempted to carry him away from the cup. He clawed at them, screaming in terror for help, but nothing he could do on his own would fight them off. Now, if he got his shoe caught on something as simple as his shoelace, it would make him turn ghostly pale, getting flashbacks to the moment he could’ve lost his life.
Despite what he went through, he kept exceptional grades and still had his friends. For him, maintaining his grades wasn’t a surprise. Not only were his professors very understanding, but studying was one of the few things he could do without ever having to think about what happened that day. He was much more surprised to discover that his friends still loved him, and that he was still as popular as always. He thought his friends would be disappointed in him, but like the incredible friends they were, they adored him just as much, and respected him for the hardship he went through. More than anything, he was glad you still loved him, even if he would never be exactly the same.
However, attention and popularity were no longer what made him feel whole. When people circled him to talk to him, it often scared him. After what happened in the maze, Cedric had intense claustrophobia, and even standing in a crowded room could set him off.
After every dark thing that happened, the only real thing he could find solace in was you, his beloved support system. You knew this, and made it a point to check on him daily, especially if he didn’t talk to you for a day. That’s how you knew when it was a dreadful day for him.
Today was different. Classes were over for the day, and you hadn’t seen him once. You thought maybe it was just a coincidence you didn’t see him in the halls, but when he didn’t show up to your shared History of Magic class, you grew worried. You’d asked around about him for what felt like hours, and eventually one of his friends told you they’d seen Cedric go to his dormitory.
You contemplated what could’ve happened as you entered the Hufflepuff common room. The smell of sweets wafted through the air, and the syrupy scent filled your nose. Usually, you loved to admire the soft yellow furniture and warm lighting, but today you went straight for the boys' dorm. You pushed open the ancient creaky oak door to Cedric’s dorm, and the scene felt all too familiar to you. Before the tournament, Cedric often invited you over, but that was becoming rare as time went on. You knew he still loved you, but it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to reach out to anyone, even just to chat.
You opened the door to find Cedric on the wood floor, sitting next to his bed, with his knees to his chest. You rushed over, quickly closed the door behind you, and sat with him.
For a while, he didn’t say anything, he just softly cried. His cheeks were red, and his breathing was shallow. His favorite gold Hufflepuff sweater had droplets of water across the front from his salty tears. You wanted to engulf him in your arms, but you knew he needed his space.
“I can’t believe what I did,” he finally said, breaking the silence. The tears in his throat were audible and heartbreaking. “A group of people tried talking to me, and I just snapped,” he’s barely able to choke out the words as he begins to sob into your shoulder.
“I know Ced, it’s okay,” you say as you brush your fingers through his soft overgrown honey hair.
“I just snapped,” he says between sobs. “They were all standing so close, and I couldn’t breathe, and all I could think about was that stupid maze.” The words leave his mouth in a quick spiral, and once they’re out he grabs you like if he doesn’t, you’ll vanish. “I shouted at them,” he says, sounding dejected. Even if those students never remembered it, he was too sweet not to blame himself.
“Cedric Diggory,” you say in a strong, but concerned tone, “no one is mad at you. The people here are considerate enough to understand what you went through, and if they can’t understand it, then maybe they deserve to be yelled at.” He doesn’t respond to you, but he holds on to you a little tighter, and presses his face into your neck. His warm, soft lips meet your skin and plant a small kiss on you, and you can feel his wet, tear-stained cheeks brush against you. “Why don’t we get you some food? You’ll feel much better,” you earnestly suggest. He moves away from your neck, keeping a firm grip on your body. Despite his disheveled appearance, he sends you a grin that makes you feel like the sun has just come out after a long winter. He nods his head in agreement and stands up with you. You watch as he fixes his hair, and changes his clothes to go down to the great hall with you. When his shirt is off, you see his sculpted, toned body, and you can’t help but giggle. He blushes, and a soft shade of pink takes over his face. He sends you a wink and quickly puts on another shirt. It seemed like Hufflepuff’s golden boy was making a return.
Once you’re out of the Hufflepuff common room he takes you by the hand and twirls you around, pulling you into him with a soft smile. Your hands connect, as if they were made to hold each other, and he traces his thumb in circles on your hand.
“You are the light of my life,” he whispers into your ear, and it’s like you can hear the smile in his voice.

you are in love | cedric diggory x fem!reader (part 1)
⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆
Cedric was content with what he had. He was prefect, quidditch captain and the unspoken partner of yours. He wouldn't want to risk a thing with you because everything is so good as it is. But when other students are thrown into the equation, at the end of the day, is he truly yours?
warnings: two dummies in love, reader is a Gryffindor
word count: 2.5k
a/n: This is my first fic published so I'm nervous!! But I'm going to try to make multiple parts for this one because it was just getting too long and I have so many ideas for Cedric (bc we were robbed!) Also not proofread! ₊˚⊹♡
Tumblr media
Fred pushed the list of self made “Prettiest Girls at Hogwarts” in the new first years’ faces. The tiny moving portraits of the Hogwarts girls looked a little silly in the first years’ minds but the twins insisted that pictures solidify their case.
“These are who you lot should be aiming for,” he stated with confidence, utterly prideful of the list, “aside from y/n of course, she’s off limits.”
“Off limits? She said she didn’t have a boyfriend while she toured us though?” a small first year girl chirped. The twins exchanged a knowing look before chuckling slowly.
“The beautiful Gryffindor prefect, my little unknowing friends, is off limits because ah, right on time as usual” George dramatically cocked his head in your direction.
You had been eating your breakfast alone quite peacefully when you felt someone in yellow dawned robes slip into the open seat beside you.
“Cedric Diggory, Hufflepuff prefect, quidditch seeker-“
“And captain” George sang.
“And just all around dream boy. All the girls think he’s bloody fit.” Fred concluded.
“He has kind of an unspoken dibs on y/n. Has had one since last year when they became prefects. No one has even tried to make any advances on her cause of it.”
“Why’s that?” the first years were now all huddled close to the twins, listening with intense interest.
Fred rolled his eyes, “because look at the bloke!” A couple of students from neighbouring tables looked curiously in the direction of the loud proclamation. Looking around he leaned in closer to whisper, “Rumour has it he’s planning to put his name in for the Triwizard Tournament this year too. He’s as fit they come!”
“Not to mention he’s so bloody nice that you can’t even hate the bloke for being so perfect.” George finished as the rest of the table nodded along, absorbing the precious information.
“He’s not perfect you know.” Everyone whipped their head to see Hermione chiming in, not even looking up from her books.
“If he was the dream boy you all say he is, they would’ve been together by now. Personally, I think he’s too comfortable for his own good.”
“What’d you mean by that Hermione?” Fred asked.
She shut her book with a thud and sighed, “Yes he’s attractive in all ways, but how long do you reckon he’s going to keep stringing her along like that? He’s been flirting with her for as long as he’s known her but won’t do anything about it. It’s sad really.”
The twins paused while exchanging confused looks, not understanding what was so sad about the two perfect prefects’ relationship.
“Ugh, boys!” Hermione, exasperated, gave up and opened the thick novel to continue her literature.
It’s not like Cedric didn’t like you. He liked everything about you, but Hermione was right, he was comfortable with how things were. He wasn’t cocky, not in the slightest, but he was always far from worried when it came to you and other guys at the school. Everyone knew about you two, so he’s never been challenged for your attention. He in all honesty, guiltily enjoyed the lack of complication that the two of you had when it came to your relationship status. There wouldn’t be anything to lose if he didn’t start anything, so he stayed in his comfort with you.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆
“Morning y/n!” Cedric’s presence instantly made you feel relaxed and warm.
“It’s such a pleasure seeing you here at my house’s table this morning Diggory.” you teased. It wasn’t completely unnatural for Cedric to join you at the Gryffindor table, but he usually felt that as a prefect, sitting at his own house table was almost a requirement.
“I came bearing quite honourable and exciting news y/n,” he was beaming, so excited that it seemed like he was going to jump out of his seat, “I’ve decided to do it this year. I’ve officially made up my mind that I’m going to throw my name out for the Triwizard Tournament.”
He was ecstatic, to say the least, and it was difficult for you to match his energy as you had just heard the worst news you could’ve expected from him. The Tournament has had students die while participating, so it wasn’t surprising that you didn’t want the boy you cared so much about to have a chance at it.
He caught onto your uncertainty fairly quickly; you were obviously smiling but it didn’t reach your eyes. He let out a breath and carefully reached for your hand.
“I know that you may feel hesitant about it but believe me, I know the risks but there is so much for me to gain from this experience. So please trust in me y/n.” his pleading eyes were too difficult to resist.
“I do, I do trust you Cedric,” you mustered as much support as you could in that moment, “the Goblet would be stupid not to choose such a fine competitor.” Your words seemed to satisfy Cedric as he jumped out of his seat, gave you a quick kiss atop of your head and sped off to the Hufflepuff common rooms.
He had made his mind up and the only thing you could possibly do was to try to hex that stupid over-gloried cup in your mind as you prayed to Dumbledore for Cedric’s name not to be pulled.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆
The news that students from other schools were coming to Hogwarts excited the masses. It wasn’t every day they got to see such new faces. Especially faces as attractive as the Beauxbaton and Durmstrang students.
Everyone was bursting with excitement in the Great Hall, awaiting anxiously for the foreign students to arrive. You on the other hand were busy glancing at Cedric who was chatting happily with his housemates.
“You’re staring you know.” Hermione’s deadpan voice made your head turn to face her, your eyes lingering just a second longer on the Hufflepuff table.
“Honestly y/n, we have some of the greatest wizarding students coming in for a tournament that only happens every five years and your focus is on Diggory? Merlin y/n if anything, focus on the OWLs instead.” Hermione wasn’t annoyed, but instead truly baffled as to how you could easily ignore such a large celebration for one boy.
You held up your hands in defense, but before you could retort, Dumbledore had already started introducing the new guests.
The vision of blue overwhelmed your senses and you were stunned for a second, only being snapped back to reality by the hollering of the surrounding boys. You shifted in your seat in an attempt to see Cedric’s reaction to the Beauxbaton girls, but the rowdiness of the male students blocked your vision. Sinking back in your seat pouting, you wondered if Cedric was enjoying this as much as the other boys were. I mean, Ron was practically drooling. You didn’t have much time to sulk over the issue as you got simultaneously shoved on both sides by Hermione and Ginny. You craned your neck to see what was causing this female commotion.
“Oh Merlin y/n, it’s Viktor Krum! And he’s even better up close!” Ginny whispered excitedly. You stared at the older boy not really impressed but you giggled with Ginny nonetheless, feeling left out of the Viktor-Krum-is-so-handsome festivities that were happening at the table.
From across the grand path of new students, Cedric stared at you as you giggled and whispered with Ginny. Following your line of sight, his eyes were met with the stiff, soldier-like, famous Viktor Krum. Groaning, he hung his head in his hands as the noises of the Great Hall faded in his ears. He was beginning to think, maybe he was, in fact too cocky when it came to you.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆
Your friends were whispering excitedly in the courtyard when you had joined them.
“What’s got you lot so excited?” you asked while squeezing to sit between Hermione and Ginny on the ledge.
“Viktor Krum! What else?” Ginny chirped excitedly. Just at the mention of his name, the other girls squealed in pure bliss. You observed your young friends’ excitement happily. You hadn’t had much time to observe the new Hogwarts guests, as the reality of Cedric putting his name into the goblet this year became more and more clear to you. A warm hand delicately tapped your shoulder from behind you, breaking you from your worries temporarily, and you looked up and behind to see Cedric standing behind you while giving you his most infamous, heart-stopping smile.
“Ladies” he nodded to the group of girls in acknowledgement before bringing his full attention to you. Content, you leaned your head back into his chest as you looked up at the boy who seemed to be radiating sunshine.
“Cedric! What are you doing here?” you were beaming. He looked like honey. You couldn’t really describe it, but he was just so warm and so sweet. Beautiful really.  Especially in the courtyard sun.
“I thought you could perhaps lend me your potions books for today?” he grinned lopsidedly at you as you sighed and pulled out the heavy book. How could you ever say no to this boy?
“You’re the champion of my heart y/n, you know that?” you laughed when he clutched his heart with his free arm. Your heart bubbled with warmth. You let yourself bask in the feeling only for a moment when Ginny moved to head back to the common rooms first. Feeling rather amorous, you told her you would meet her back there soon. You wanted to share your bubbly feelings with someone and Ginny always loved listening to it.
“Not just your heart Diggory.” Hermione teased quietly seeing that you were distracted with Ginny for a moment. She gestured Cedric towards a pair of Durmstrang students. One in particular seemed to be taking quite an interest in you. As the Durmstrang boy kept glancing at you, Cedric’s hand on your shoulder unconsciously became a little stiffer and he pulled you a little closer.
Cedric then bent down to reach your ear and whispered lowly, “I really do appreciate it y/n. You’re not only the champion of my heart but also the one who holds my mind, body and soul in all completion.” The cheesiness of his words had you giggling. You knew he didn’t truly mean what he was saying, but the light tinge of pink on your cheeks was evident.
Stretching back up to stand Cedric held his gaze on the Durmstrang boy, feeling rather confident and accomplished as he watched the boy’s friend pat him on the back consolingly as they walked away.
“Oh, Merlin! I forgot that I told Ginny I’d meet her in the common room!” you frantically gathered your things and hollered rushed goodbyes. “Don’t forget to return my potions book Cedric!” you reminded and he chuckled lightly to himself in response.
As your sporadic figure grew smaller in the distance, Hermione turned to face Cedric. “You know Diggory, every guy at Hogwarts may know of your guys’ relationship, but the ones at Durmstrang don’t.” Hermione stated matter-of-factly, making Cedric’s grin falter.
“What’s that supposed to mean Granger?” Frustrated, Hermione groaned, “It means that although the boys at Hogwarts don’t fancy y/n, that doesn’t mean that the boys at Durmstrang won’t. You can’t pull that kind of stunt again with every Durmstrang boy she comes in contact with. Godric, boys are so dim sometimes!” she huffed as she turned on her heel to leave.
Cedric rubbed the back of his neck, feeling quite sheepish for being caught in his rather childish act. Hermione was right though, he wouldn’t be able to keep every single guy away from you. So what was he supposed to do?
⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆
The night of the choosing of names came all too fast for you. You knew he put in his name. You knew he really wanted this. And for some reason, you felt like you knew he would be picked. This weighed heavily on your mind and you honestly could not for the life of you, pay attention to who the other two victors were.
The paper flew out and Dumbledore caught it. The dread in your stomach increased to a nauseating level, the chatter of the students ringing in your ears and then the room went quiet. It wasn’t actually quiet but suddenly you weren’t able to hear the cheers of your peers as you watched the boy you yearned for so dearly, walk through the aisles in celebratory fashion. Your head started spinning, how many students had entered their names? What were the odds? How was it possible that the one student, the one student that you couldn’t risk being out in that tournament, had gotten picked?
Cedric was on top of the world at that moment. He wasn’t too interested in becoming legendary or glorified through the Tournament but was simply elated to bring pride to the Hufflepuff House. He would be lying though, if he said that he would gladly take on the glory if it meant you would see him as such. Thinking of you, he searched quickly for your head in the crowd. When he finally spotted you, his grin widened but as he saw your fallen and disconnected expression he grew concerned and tried to move his way through the crowd to your spot. Unfortunately, it was a lost cause as the Goblet erupted once more and the wave of confused students swept Cedric further away from you.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆
“Krum’s got a yes!” Cedric turned his attention away from his house tablemates to the rowdy group of Durmstrang boys that were chirping excitedly.
“Who’s the lucky woman Viktor? I mean half of this school wants to be your date to the Yule Ball! You have to tell us who you ended up asking!” the boys leaned in eager to hear more about Viktor’s proposal.
“Who else, I asked the pretty Gryffindor I said I would ask.” he replied shortly, seemingly unamused by his friends.
“Bloody hell, he’s asked y/n!” Cedric whipped his head around to the first-year Hufflepuff who had also turned to listen in. Cedric’s facial expression dropped.
Glancing at Cedric nervously one of the older Hufflepuffs questioned the girl, “How in Merlin’s Beard would know that? Krum didn’t even say that he had asked y/n.”
“It’s obvious!” she smiled as she hurriedly reached into her pocket and fished out a piece of paper.
“Prettiest…Girls…At…Hogwarts” one of the Hufflepuffs read aloud slowly. Unbeknownst to you, the twins have not only been solidifying their list with the Gryffindor first years, but ALL the first years.
“Look!” she pointed to your tiny moving portrait on the paper.
“It says right there: y/n, 6th year, Gryffindor. If Viktor Krum had been talking about a pretty Gryffindor, it had had to be her. She’s a prefect, he would absolutely go for her!” the tiny girl smiled proudly at her findings as if she had cracked a hard case.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆
Sitting alone in the Hufflepuff common room, Cedric was deep in thought.
Had Viktor Krum really asked you to the ball? Had you really said yes? He knew he hadn’t asked you at all but he had assumed it was only natural that the two of you would’ve gone together. Right..?
The more he questioned you and himself the more miserable he became.

song: sunsetz - cigarettes after sex
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Hello, darling," Cedric greets you as he walks over you where you were reading on the couch.
"Hi, Ced!"
He had gone out for something for a few minutes and his parents were running errands.
"How's the book?"
"Oh, it's wonderful! It's so beautifully written," you inform him.
"I'm glad, I'm also sorry to put a pause on your reading," he says as he takes the book from your hands, marks the page, and places it down.
His takes your hands in his and pulls you off of the seat.
"What are we doing?"
"You'll see, sweetheart," he smiles.
"Hm, okay," you shrug and grin at his excited state.
He pulls you outside by the garden and you follow him as you walk up a hill.
"Jeez, Ced, you should have told me we were gonna work out," you laugh.
"Don't worry, angel, we are almost there"
You finally make it to the top and you see a small field surrounded by flowers with a basket and snacks set up in the middle. The sun was setting and the sky was painted with colors that make is look unreal.
"Oh, wow, Cedric this is beautiful!"
"Hm, almost as beautiful as you," he winks. Your cheeks heat up, even though you've been dating for over a year, he still has that effect on you.
"Honestly, this is perfect. Thank you," you smile and sit with him on the blanket.
"No need to thank me, love"
"You have got all of my favorites," you could have cried.
"I had to have the favorites for my favorite person," he passes you a bouquet with flowers he hand picked and arranged.
"Cedric, you are too good to me"
"Only because you deserve the world, my love"
You were sat in between his legs as you rest your back on his chest. He cast a spell to play some quiet music in the back, he knows how you prefer to do things with music or some type of background noise.
You both were eating some strawberries as you watched the sunset and talked.
Your boyfriend was truly perfect.

Cedric Diggory as a boyfriend 🏆🦡
Tumblr media
⋆ ˚。 ⋆୨sweetpandorabox୧⋆ ˚。 ⋆
⋘ 𝑙𝑜𝑎𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑑𝑎𝑡𝑎…⋙
Warnings ⚠️: Slight mentioned of sexual themes and some spicy stuff.
Dating this sweet, kind, and handsome Triwizard champion could include:
🪦 💛 👨🏻
Cedric is a true definition of a gentleman, he undoubtedly has that chivalry touch about him, he's polite, honest, and kind. He would put your jacket around you as soon as he noticed you shivering even just a little, offer you his arm when you're about to walk somewhere, hold a door open for you, kisses you on the forehead, kisses your hand when the both of you have to part ways and never lets you pay a cent during a date that requires paying, because he enjoys paying for you and never wants anything in return. The affection of kisses, hugs and more means the world to him.
He calls you cute nicknames like Angel, Heaven, My World, or Sweetheart.
Likes when you call him Ced, Darling, Love, Handsome, or Teddy (It's an inside joke between the two of you that Cedric is as soft and kind-looking as a teddy bear, so you kept it going with that nickname).
His love language is probably words of affirmation, he's really good at expressing his love for you through words, he mentions how much he loves you often, and he compliments you anytime he gets the chance but most of all he's always affirmed you that no matter how many people might be interested in him weather that's about his popularity, looks or personality, he'll never leave you ever and that no one can ever replace nor even come close to you. That he couldn't love a human any more than he loves you.
He likes writing your name on all your subject's books for you but instead of your family's last name, he puts down his instead so every book you own says "This book belongs to Y/N Diggory" which drives your friends crazy with excitement, even professor McGonagall was sure you'd marry him one day.
He would take you out every Sunday morning to madame Puddifoot's tea shop for some tea, with sugar and milk just how you like it, while Cedric makes it a habit to make paper rings out of the tissues provided on each table for customers, then he'd take your left-hand kisses it and put the ring on you ring finger before saying "One day It'll be a real ring that shines and glimmer the way your eyes do when it hits the sun", that line never fails to make you smile and blush, so you smile at him kindly while he returns it sipping your tea away.
You have to get on your tippy toes to kiss him because he's built like a tree which never fails to make him laugh and smile at how adorable you are, but you'd pout every time he laughs at you so in return he lowers himself to your level and says "go on" then you would smile and ruffle his hair as messy as you can which leave the both of you to laugh and blush.
He uses his prefect power to go out after hours, his excuse is that he's patrolling around the castle before bed and sneak you up to the astronomy tower when there's no class available and stargaze there, then he'd ramble about all the stars that he knows about which you find really interesting and amusing.
He's the best at giving advice about anything and you've always taken it without hesitation because his advice has worked in your favor every time, he just seems to know what's best for you always.
Him chasing you all over the place to give him a hug after Hufflepuff's quidditch practice when he's all sweaty, smelly, and sticky.
When it comes to sex he's very gentle with you making sure to put you first before himself and a praiser too, despite how much you drive him crazy with lust because of how attractive you are to him, so it's mostly slow, passionate sex but when he's in the mood to just please you, he gets you to sit on his lap while he fingers you, touch your breast and kiss your neck and shoulder as you moan in pleasure. (😫).
He loves the sight of you walking towards the great hall for breakfast on the weekend after you've just woken up with his jumper on, slightly messy hair, sweats, and slippers on, what makes it better is the way you greet him good morning with your sleepy voice and a kiss to top it all off never fails to make him smile brightly and blush too.
He likes watching you sleep, he finds you to look so peaceful and effortlessly gorgeous doing nothing but breathing easy while closing your eyes, dreaming away about something good he hopes.
Despite him being sweet and patient most of the time with you, he's not afraid to argue back if he finds you to be too stubborn about something.
Shows you off proudly in front of anyone and everyone he could, talk about you often, mention how lucky he is to have you in his life and how he could never survive with you, not now not ever at this point.
Writes you cute yet unexpected love letters, notes, and paper balls with doodles of the two of you together, and no matter how many he makes/sends you've managed to keep and saved them all, which Cedric doesn't know about and by now you'd have thousands of letters, notes and paper balls filled with doodles made by him.
He smiles a lot around you and is the type of person who makes good eye contact even if he doesn't like that person that way in general.
Amos and Mrs. Diggory loves having you around their house and would often invite your whole family to join/celebrate things like Christmas for example in their home, just hoping that you and Cedric will be married together one day and untie both of your families into one big and beautiful one.
He lets you dress him up in your clothes for fun, put makeup on him, and even tie his hair into a short ponytail. He puts up with it all just to see you laugh your nose off, as long as you're happy he's happy too.
Whenever you achieve something big and you'd tell him excitedly he picks you up in the air and spins you around laughing with you and saying "I'm so proud of you my sweetheart" with a huge smile on his face before putting you down and giving you a passionate kiss.

Off Guard
pairing - cedric diggory x reader
summary - the time you allow cedric to get to know you
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“It’s cold,” he opened his hand, large palm pushing back small hairs that seemed to be flailing around in the wind. His yellow scarf was draped around his neck, tightly wrapped around until it was snuggly rested inside his jacket. The cold had caused the ends of his nose to already begin to change in color.
Honestly, Cedric didn’t mind the cold, with it came beautiful new scenery of the green outside covered in a pure white. The snow easily coated most of the area, offering new entertainment and reminders that break was to come to the students.
The mention of break arriving was such a hefty reminder that he had two sickles and four knuts resting in a velvet bag at the top of his trunk. The bag had a embroidered CD on its front, representing his initials, and was once filled with sweets that you’d gifted him after a exceptional quidditch match. His smile was never so wide, and his hands never wanted to wrap themselves around you as much as in that moment.
“The cold is refreshing,” you hummed, sitting on the large windowsill as he slowly moved over to you. His steps were hesitant and eventually he mirrored the position your were in. Your knees were crushed to your chest, arms wrapped around to hug them tighter, just staring out at the bare trees with a transfiguration book discarded on the ground. He followed, trying to crush his long legs to his chest.
Cedric allowed his feet to be a few centimeters from your own, the tips of his boots nearly touching yours. “Why are you out here? You scared that friend, Luna. She came rumbling into the classroom!”
“I don’t know why,” you whispered, hands moving to stretch in front of you as Cedric took the opportunity to (finally) take one into his grasp. Your mouth opened wide, staring down at his actions as his thumb smoothed out the skin on the back of your hand.
“Why won’t you ever tell me what’s wrong?” his voice was soft, eyes filled with honesty while his movements never faded. With a small inch of his feet, his boots were now touching the tips of yours.
“There isn’t anything to tell,” you mumbled, tapping your own thumb against the hand that was connected with yours. “You worry too much, don’t worry so much about me.”
He took a soft breath from across and stood up. Your hand dropped from his grip and your shoe no longer prodded at the ends of his own. You turned your body so your feet dangled off the ledge of the window-sill and he swiftly moved to stand in front of you.
“Stop that,” he whispered, shaking his head and pink cheeks. His cold fingers moved to address the scarf that was handing idly on one shoulder. Cedric moved the fabric to be wrapped around your neck and tightened it. “You’re going to get a cold,” he mumbled while his fingers worked carefully at maneuvering the fabric around your neck.
“Maybe then I won’t have to deal with those annoying first years.”
He laughed, eyes lighting back up and nodded his head in a fast motion. “This years are something else,” the fellow prefect agreed. “But you’re so good with the kids, helping them with classes, you’re a perfect prefect.”
“Not like you,” it was another whispered statement, one that caused Cedric’s eyebrows to furrow in confusion. Soon after noticing the crease it was gone and you felt a chilly palm connect with your (now) heating cheeks.
“Don’t,” he hummed, staring at you with more adoration than he normally allowed to be seen. His eyes moved down towards your lips, parted slightly and taking in slow breaths. The air that was exiting your mouth was seen between the tight space separating you both, puffs of air from the both of your breaths intermingled with one another.
“Diggory.”
“Yes, de-” quickly it registered in the hufflepuffs head that you weren’t the one to mutter that statement. Your lips still being parted and eyes widening comically at the unwarranted appearance. His hands immediately went to his sides and speedily turned around to face the person.
“What are you doing? Break was only ten minutes and then you never come back!” his friend exclaimed, wrapping his fingers around Cedric’s wrist before pulling him back into the direction he came in.
Tumblr media
A final quidditch match was in session the day after Cedric left practice to see you. The wind was furious and it’s effects could be seen by the players mobility. You watched from your houses stadium, small chattering in the background filled with exciting squeals and paranoid worries.
You were granted great seats, standing near the front of the box shape area due to your position of being a prefect. The two teams practiced down below, warming up against the ferocious weather. Despite you gaining some comfort in your now huddled position, a small frown on the field lead your feet to leave.
It wasn’t something you had planned with much thought, luckily before your feet reached their final destination you were caught in the act, a fellow Ravenclaw yelling your name.
“Have you come to wish us luck?” he flew over to your side, eager grin. “Our favorite prefect granting little ole’ us some luck?” his lips grinned eagerly at your image as more of the teammates made their way over. “How honored are we?” he turned behind to the others who nodded in agreement.
“Good luck,” you looked over at the large group of ecstatic quidditch players, bundled in gear and a new shine present in their eyes. Though the sport was never something that interested you so much, moments like these did, just being able to sense the pure emotions dripping from the fellow players. “You all will do amazing.”
“And us?” a charming voice spoke up, yellow bombarding the deep purple hues that surrounded your vision. In came the signature smile and kind eyes that were directed sweetly over to you. “Where is our luck?” diggory questioned.
“We are opponents today, so no wishes,” you hummed, hearing laughter resound around the immediate area. “When you lose this match, maybe then you’ll receive a ‘good job’,” a large smirk graced itself onto your features as the man just reached a large hand down to lightly flick your forehead.
“You just watch l/n, the competition is on,” he exclaimed, raising his broom high in his grip before turning it over to hop on and ride away. “I’ll make you say your praises!” he taunted while flying around in the air.
It was clear, throughout the rest of the match Cedric Diggory zoomed around with much fury and excitement, easily succeeding in his position and pushing his team towards the win. The yellow-gowned students sent loud cheers throughout the stadium as ones decorated in purple merely stood with small smiles and quiet whisperings.
You journeyed down to where the players stood, a sympathetic grin on your lips as pats among the backs were cut off with two long hands wrapping themselves around your waist and pulling you close. Soon enough your feet were dangling in the air as the Ravenclaw players glared up at your frazzled image.
“Wha- Diggory!” you yelled, turning yourself around as carefully as you could to hug his waist with much strength. “I don’t like flying! Godric we are very high!”
“Look how pretty everything looks from up here,” he whispered near your ear, leaning his head down to whisper and zooming a bit more away to get a full view of the stadium. “Look at the smiles on those kids faces,” he lifted his hand to point to the Ravenclaws laughing away with a newfound glee. “They finally get to see their prefect off her guard.”
“This isn’t so funny for me,”
“Because you’re off guard, that was the point,” he chuckled, his other hand leaving the handle of the broom. “No hands!”
“Cedric!” your grabbed his hand, pulling it onto the wood so he could return his grip. “Don’t-”
“You say that a lot, but, I just wish to know more about you l/n. Is that so bad?” he begun to lower you two back to the ground except the words continued to echo inside your head, his question, his secret.
You couldn’t focus on the cheers of your team, all rushing over with little remarks as he just exited the scene, smile whisking itself back onto his features. It didn’t help the odd feeling in your stomach, the one bubbling more and more at his actions that your feet soon enough led you off the field. Slipping past fellow students in the halls you heightened your speed to catch up with him, all until you could now grip his own wrist and pull him away.
He voiced your last name as a question, evidently startled, “Are you alright?” a hand rested on the side of your shoulder, those sparkling eyes looking upon you with concern once again.
He moved to flick the skin of your forehead before a hand gripped the ends of his scarf, pulling him down, as your lips were lightly placed on his. In a fleeting moment the kiss was over, your lips still puckered, breath heavy.
Then there was laughter once again, filling the large room, resounding so loudly in your ear as he just softly leaned forward once again. A warm palm crept to your colder cheek, comforting the skin with a light rub of his large thumb. “You’re very surprising, thank you,” his plush lips caught yours, a soft and angelic feeling that kept the bubbles boiling in your stomach but now welcomed.
Cedric Diggory was always worried, always wanted to know about you, and finally you were prepared to let him.

Waking up felt like a chore now nothing was new anymore. It was currently early in the morning, and you were lying in your bed once again, there didn’t seem to be any motivation to do anything nowadays. Turning over onto your side eyes heavy, laced with tears once more from the previous night, tears soon turning into a pathetic sob. Looking over at your arms littered with scars old and new hiding them under the white sheets of the sanctuary known as your bed. You felt selfish maybe it was just winter depression? Or was this more than that? Surely you shouldn’t be so selfish when others may be going through more than you surely it’s just a coincidence you must be feeling like this. It shall pass within due cores, right? Oh, but how you were wrong you’d been feeling like this since the start of the new school year and had not mentioned anything to anyone about how you were feeling or what you were going through not even Cedric.
Pushing everything aside for a while you forced yourself out of bed. You had to get ready for school it just felt like a cycle, what was the point? For a brief moment you thought about your friends would they care if you just stopped? Stopped caring, stopped showing up to lessons, stopped interacting with them? You knew it wasn’t their fault for your miserable lifestyle nor should they have any reason to suspect anything because in their eyes you are happy, joyful, and eager to learn right? You began crying once more. You didn’t deserve your friends, did you? You were being selfish once again. You also didn’t deserve a perfect boyfriend. Cedric Diggory Seeker for the Hufflepuff quidditch team. He was a ray of sunshine he was everything you could ask for in a boyfriend. He was popular, funny, kind, and caring what did he see in you?
You just needed to get through this last day of school. It was Friday and then you could relax. By ‘relax’ was meant shutting yourself away once again away from everyone away from your friends, away from Cedric. You soon made yourself over to your dresser looking at yourself in the mirror. You couldn’t bear looking at your body it was one of your biggest insecurities you knew that. It got you thinking again what did Cedric see in you? Wrapping your arms around your stomach you chocked out another sob resting your forehead against the cool reflective glass.
You managed to get your uniform on finally. Brushing out your hair with your hair brush at least trying to look presentable for what was ahead of you today. “Just have to get through today, that’s all.” You whispered to yourself. You started doing your makeup next you couldn’t go out without putting it on you felt insecure without it almost like you were hiding a part of yourself or were you just trying to cover something up? Cover up the sadness and guilt you felt. Frowning at yourself once again in the mirror almost like it was the saddest thing you’ve ever seen.
Quickly you gathered your books and other necessities into your bag leaving your dorm and heading out of your house dormitories. Walking through the halls of Hogwarts wasn’t that bad most people were nice to you showing you a smile or even waving at you. Lost in your thoughts as you joined the crowd of other students who were heading to the hall for breakfast. Suddenly you felt two arms wrap around your frame making you jolt back slightly, stopping you from walking. "Morning sweetheart." A groggy masculine voice spoke to you as the figure rested himself against your figure. It was none other than your boyfriend, Cedric Diggory. He was your ray of hope, a ray of light guiding you through your darkest times without him being aware of what dark times you may be going through he's always there to help you, you knew that. "Morning sleepyhead." You chuckled softly raising your hand to ruffle his hair, gazing up at him. "I've missed you." He chirped a soft pout on his lips. "I got busy with quidditch practice, feels like I haven't seen you in forever." As Cedric began to continue talking about his improvements on quidditch you couldn't help but recall the moments of pain without him. You did truly love him but you felt like he could do so much better than dating someone like yourself. His arms remained wrapped around you as he leaned forward to place a kiss on your cheek. "Hey," he said raising his eyebrow at you "is there something on your mind?" Cedric's eyes softened as he looked at you. Merlin how you wish you could tell him, tell him everything, tell him all your struggles but you just shook your head a thin smile on your lips. "No, no I'm fine Cedric" You didn't want to burden your ray of light, no. Not like this. "You can talk to me about anything, you know?" He said, however, he did not push further and just gave you a look of confusion.
As you both continued to walk to the great hall you chatted amongst yourselves Cedric going on about quidditch practice and how he’s excited about their next official match and so on but you couldn’t help but drift off thinking about the words he said before this conversation. ‘You can talk to me about anything’ kept ringing through your mind. You didn’t want to burden him with your worries. You didn’t want to burden him with responsibilities that he doesn’t need to know about you’ll push past them eventually right? You didn’t even know where to start would he be disappointed? Would he view you differently if you told him the truth? If you told him about your troubles with self-harm if you told him how you viewed yourself would it change your whole relationship? You've seen the other girls at Hogwarts they were prettier than you. They were confident, outgoing, and loving you really couldn’t compare yourself to them.
As you both sat down you were still lost in your thoughts you did not touch any of the food presented in front of you. “Darling?” A voice spoke out. It was Cedric looking at you worryingly reaching out his hand to intertwine with yours. “You seem lost. You haven’t touched any of your food, should I be worried?” He said you blinked shaking your head just like before. “I was just thinking about our exams coming up.” You said. Another excuse, you hated this - lying to him but it was for the best wasn’t it? Cedric nodded still giving you a worrisome look before turning away from you to talk to one of his friends. He looked so happy with his friends honestly you just felt like a waste of space in this situation, you were worrying him - you hated it so much. You eventually began to eat lost in your thoughts whilst doing so.
As the end of the day finally rolled around you were relieved. Finally, you’ve made it but you truly couldn’t stop thinking about what Cedric had said. You truly love him it was messing with your head you could feel tears well up in your eyes again. Tears falling like an overflowing stream this burden you had been carrying had finally made you realise you couldn’t handle this alone. His words were futile devices against the burden you were carrying solemnly. You also realised isolating yourself was for the worse or was it a positive factor? You couldn’t tell what was right or wrong anymore. You needed to be by yourself you had to be by yourself you had to bottle it up you couldn’t allow anyone to see you like this as you hurried to your dorm as quickly as you could. However, from afar someone was watching you, watching you in your saddened mess none other than Cedric. He knew something was wrong he was planning to meet you at the end of your last class to try and talk to you about how you were feeling he couldn’t help but notice at breakfast how you seemed off. He needed to speak to you. He knew where you’d be, you’d be in your dorm so he decided to follow you to help you in any way he could he was your boyfriend after all. He felt like it was his duty to make sure you were happy, safe, and secure.
Slamming your door shut you collapsed onto the wooden floor of your dorm sobbing dramatically. What a burden you were you hated it. You hated all of this why did you have to be so pathetic? “I can’t take it anymore..” you choked out in between your sobs taking off your robes and revealing your scars once more looking over to your mirror, your mascara smudged from your pathetic sobbing. You couldn’t signify if this was all a nightmare or not. Why? Why did you have to go through this alone? Shakily you stood up standing in front of your mirror as you tried to wipe the smudged mascara away to no avail it didn't work, only creating more of a mess. You seemed so unimpressed looking at yourself in the mirror your reflection staring back at you. The girl in the mirror couldn’t even look back at herself without being disgusting.
Suddenly a knock at your door makes you jump slightly snapping you clean out of your thoughts. “sweetheart? Are you in there? It’s only me” the voice rang in and out of your ears. You knew exactly who it was it was, it was Cedric. "You seem to be having a rough day" he spoke up again. "Do you wish to talk about it?" Quickly you tried wiping your eyes clean removing any of the remaining mascara staining your cheeks and areas under your eyes as you slowly turned the knob of your door to open it. You had forgotten, hadn’t you? You weren’t covering your arms, how could you forget? As soon as you opened the door you were greeted with a warm smile, his signature inviting smile however there was concern in his expression his eyes widening as he saw your arms and the way your face was delicately stained with mascara and dried tears. Why hadn’t he noticed the signs sooner? He gulped guilt over washing him as he stepped into your room closing the door behind him. “You said you were fine, what’s going on darling?” His voice broke, he was hurt, hurt that he wasn’t there for you when you needed him. You followed his gaze down to your arms, how could you be so stupid? Tears began welling up in your eyes once more as you suddenly gripped onto his school jumper sobbing into his chest. You two stood there embracing each other. Cedric's arms were securely wrapped around your shoulders not letting go. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry I wasn't there for you when you needed me." Your boyfriend whispered raising his hand to try and wipe away the tears streaming down your cheeks your grip only tightening on his jumper.
You and Cedric had now settled on your bed his hand gently holding your shoulder. You had finally told Cedric everything, you had told him how you felt about your body - you had also told him about how you’ve been feeling. "You're not alone, I promise I'll never be so blind as to not notice when you start struggling again." "I'm sorry." you mustered to say, you're gaze shifting to the side, soon enough Cedric lifted his hand from your shoulder placing it on your cheek. "look at me" He spoke softly, comforting you with his soft tone, as you did finally look at him he opened his mouth to speak. "none of this is your fault. I promise whenever you need me I'll always be here for you, forever."

Creepy Stalker Cedric x Fem! Y/n
This is for @b0nes-phobic who really wanted creepy Ced.
Content Warning: Cedric is creepy, he also low-key has a degrading kink, probably not canonical at all
~The One Where Cedric Diggory breaks into your dorm and you catch him~
Cedric followed you down the hall, just to make sure you got home safe from class, at least that’s how he saw it. “Hey creep, you need something?” It was Cho Chang, right next to him now. “No, just walking.” She tilted her head, staring at him. “You sure? Cause you should be going the other way.” He scoffed and turned to her, “Why do you care?” She put her hands on her hips, staring at him. “Because you’re creepy! And that’s my friend you’re trying to stalk weirdo-” She was cut off by Cedric putting his hand over her mouth. “Cho..shh, she’s gonna hear you!” She glared up at Cedric, “And she should! You’re a creep!”
You turned around hearing a scuffle and saw Cedric and Cho. “Oh Cho! Hey!” She smiled and waved back, “I’m gonna expose your creepy ass!” Cedric’s face immediately washed over with fear and guilt. “Cho…please? Please don’t tell her.” But Cho had already turned around walking off and he glared at her back. “What was that?” You asked with a tilt of your head as you looked at Cedric over Cho’s shoulder, she just dragged you to walk along. “Just Cedric being weird.” You nodded and finally followed and the Diggory boy could feel air fill his lungs again, Cho hadn’t said anything.
He sat next to you in potions the next day and you smiled at him before finishing your conversation with Harry. He had always liked the Potter boy, but not anymore. Now he felt the need to bash his head into concrete. But all he did was bite his bottom lip and look forward. And then in the mess hall you spoke to the Malfoy boy, he just really wanted to push his head into the table, repeatedly until Draco bled everywhere. But you waved at him so he put on a respectable front and smiled, waving back.
This time he went further with his following you however, he got as close as you door, even telling you he was walking past when you saw him. He could see the tilt of your head, and your unease but he was quick to assure and comfort you, leaving quickly. Then he saw you in the morning and walked you to class, you talked to only him as he escorted you everywhere, and it made him feel nice. Then again he followed you home, and this time you left your windows open, he could see the small lamp lit up on your desk and he could see you walk around your room, getting ready for a shower. And he prayed you’d leave your blinds open for him every night. Your blinds were just open because of laziness, but no, in his mind it was all for him.
I mean, could watching you be so bad if you left yourself visible for him? He didn’t think so, so when you started undressing he saw no problem with watching, except for a moment he did, he felt guilt but your beauty and the need to see you pushed him to further watch. Once you stepped into your bathroom, shutting the door, the guilt and gross feeling encased him and he left back to his house, the next day he didn’t speak to you. Waves of guilt covering him, but also the sight of you just brought back his need. “Cedric?” He looked up at you quickly. “Are you alright?” You asked with that small head tilt you always gave him, why was that a habit of yours, and why did it make him want to kiss you? “Y-yeah, i’m fine, why?” He mentally cursed himself for his voice cracking but it was fine when he heard your small laugh. “You sure? You’ve barely spoken a word all day.” Your kindness had affected him so heavily, that as he followed you home that night he felt the need to make himself known, but he knew it was stupid, so he waited until you were asleep.
Once he knew so, since you left your blinds open yet again, he opened the window, being as quiet as possible as he stepped into your room. He wasn’t going to be creepy, he decided, he just wanted to admire you. He sat in your desk chair and smiled, lucky he didn’t have to move it, it was right next to your bed. He softly leaned forward, his breath on your face made you scrunch your nose and he lightly brushed hair out of your face, an action which he noticed made you push yourself forward, as if to feel his hands. He chuckled quietly and stared at you, his breathing on your face making you squirm. He leaned back with a smile, letting his hand caress your cheek, a feeling he noticed you leaned into, he knew it, even subconsciously you wanted him as much as he did you. “All mine, hm? Aren’t you sweetheart?” He whispered it in your ear and watched your shiver afterward.
After that he was gone, as if he had never been there. The next night you had your blinds closed, but of course you had forgotten to lock the window again. So he snuck in again, only problem, you weren’t asleep. And as he sat on the chair you opened your eyes groggily, you were half-awake, maybe he could chalk it up to you dreaming? “Cedric?” The way his name came out of your lips made him shiver, and the way you stared up at, sitting up and leaning in as if he might disappear in front of you, the way your lips were parted. “How did you get in?” He didn’t answer, or move, hoping you’d assume he was a hallucination and lay back down, but then you poked him. “I know you’re real Diggory, now talk.” He suddenly moved his hand to lay on the back of your neck, leaning in to kiss you, it tasted like copper, without realizing he had been biting his lip, so hard you could taste the blood. You pushed him back, eyes wide and lips parted. “No, no, it’s not what you think you have to listen to me!” You watched him panic. “You’ve been following me home! You, you! It was you in my room last night!” He froze, guilt encasing him. “It’s not like that, I swear, I-i-...” His excuse fell flat. “All mine, hm? Aren’t you sweetheart?” You quoted his words to him and his eyes widened, you were asleep, how the hell did you hear him?! You tilted your head and he felt the urge to kiss you again, he left his hands where they had fallen into your lap.
Don’t give that desperate puppy look.” You whispered, your lips brushing against his. “Do you know how fucking disgusting you are?” Your harsh words seemed to ignite something in him, that and your close proximity, he let his hands squeeze your thighs as you sat in front of him, continuing to degrade him. “Do you really think you can touch me? I bet you have before hm, how can I trust you haven’t done anything to me when you snuck in.” Your hands snaked around his neck and one tugged his hair while he whined and shook his head. “No, baby I promise.”  You tilted your head, looking down at him, not an ounce of pity in your gaze as he whined and looked up at you, his face in an adorable little pout. “You promise? How can I take your word? You followed me home after all.” He whimpered when you leaned down to kiss him. “You’re disgusting, but you’re all mine, right sweetheart?” He nodded quickly and you chuckled. “God, look at you, so eager for me.” he again nodded and you kissed him again. You whispered against his lips, “Stop following me home creepy…ask next time, maybe I’ll let you come inside.”

Alcohol and New Beginnings || C.D.
Cedric was your best friend, but you couldn’t help but look at him in another way. Little did you know, he was you that way to, and all it took was some alcohol to get it out of him.
pairing: Cedric Diggory x gn!reader
warnings: alcohol, drinking (cedric not reader, kiss, not proofread very well
authors note: hi!! yes i’m working on two other things but i’m kindove bored so this appeared. Anyway, hope you like it!!
(gif not mine)
Tumblr media
Parties at Hogwarts were common. Everyone enjoyed them, and mostly everyone went to them. Tonight, the Hufflepuff were hosting the party. The common room was lit up with bright yellow lights and the smell of alcohol reeked through the atmosphere. You were on the dance floor with all your friends when you felt a hand on your shoulder.
“Y/n, heyyyyyy!” Cedric Diggory, one of you best friends, had stumbled his way over to you.
“Cedric, having a hard time walking?” You laughed, and you could feel like alcohol radiating off his breath as he stood next to you.
“Nah, i’m fine.” He was slurring his words, and you could tell he was far from sober.
“Ced,” you started, “Do you need me to walk you to your dorm?”
“Love that,” He looked like he was going to finish his sentence, but you think he lost his train of thought halfway through.
You said goodbye to your friends and started guiding Cedric to his room.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
As you opened the door to Cedric’s room, you were quite suprised. It was very clean, and smelled pretty good for a boy’s dorm. It was probably his doing. Even though you were best friends, you had never been in his dorm.
“Sooooo, whatya think?” he murmured, letting out a boyish giggle afterwards.
“It looks nice. I’m suprised.” You chuckled, taking a step closer to him. “You should probably take off your shoes. You know, get ready for bed.”
“What if i don’t wanna go to bed?”
The two of you were now sitting on his bed, as you untied his shoes after he proved he was not able to.
“You should stay with me tonight.” Cedric said.
“Don’t let the alcohol talk for you, love.” The pet name just slipped out. It wasn’t a weird thing for you to say, because you and Cedric would jokingly flirt a lot of the time. You had been friends for years, it wasn’t a weird thing.
“I like when you call me that,” he paused, “Love.”
Something inside you lit up. You knew he was drunk, and maybe he didn’t mean it. But maybe, just maybe, he really did. You’d never really had a true “crush” on Cedric, but you’d always thought he was cute. And nice. Well, maybe a little crush.
“You know what I also like?” You froze. Was Cedric gonna say what you thought he was gonna say? There’s no way. You had to remind yourself that he wasn’t in the right headspace. He was hammered, and frankly, he was more hammered then you had ever seen him before. But you know, drunk words are sober thoughts. So you couldn’t drop all hope.
“What’s that, Cedric?” You finally responded, tentatively.
“You.” He said it so simply, so quickly, and you swore you could see something in his eye. Something was telling you he really meant it. That he’d had this pent up in his body for a while, and the alcohol was what let it out.
Next thing you know, Cedric was leaning in toward you. You could see every little detail of his being. His amber eyes, and the soft freckles that dotted his nose. The lopsided, flirty grin that dawned his face. He moved his head to the side slowly.
“Can I kiss you, Y/n?” He whispered. It was so quiet, and so differant from how you saw him regularly. He was usually outgoing and loud. But now, he was vulnerable and sweet. A new side to him, the boy you’d known for seven years.
“Yes, i’d like that.”
The kiss was soft, sweet and everything you’d expect it to be. Hopefully he’d remember this in the morning. Hopefully, this wouldn’t be the last kiss.

Hated Love
Cedric Diggory x Slytherin Reader Word Count: 2.7k
Tumblr media
Summary: Enemies to lovers Cedric Diggory fanfic. A/N: First fanfiction in over 5 years; I hope you enjoy x
It was a cloudy afternoon. Black cloaks glided as the wind carefully pushed the students' robes just slightly behind them. Sounds of laughter and footsteps echoed the dark-colored halls of Hogwarts as students roamed around going from class to class.
On the other hand, I was sitting by a window enjoying the deafening silence of people watching while journaling my thoughts on a piece of parchment paper. Life has been hectic lately as quidditch practice has started. My time is mainly spent studying or in practice. I barely had time for myself, so I started journaling to keep myself as sane as possible.
“y/n! Are you coming to practice today?” My friend Draco Malfoy yelled while walking toward me. “Oh, yeah, I am, just finishing something, and I’ll be there,” I said nonchalantly as I would do anything than go to practice right now. Sometimes I feel like I cannot catch a break. That my life will always be about my studies and quidditch. Sometimes I feel guilty for feeling this way, but sometimes I feel like I’m burning myself out.
Either way, I was not excited about practice. I knew I could not miss it, we have a huge game against Hufflepuff in a few days, and I am determined to score for Slytherin. I gathered my belongings and headed to the quidditch field with Draco. I sometimes wonder why I am friends with this bloke, we are literal opposites, but we’ve been friends since our first year.
I finally reach the girls' locker rooms and quickly change into my quidditch uniform. I am a chaser which allows me to release any anger, stress, and anxiety I have while throwing the quaffle into one of the hoops. I complain a lot about playing quidditch, but deep down, it probably benefits me more than I think despite getting bruises all over my body and constant injuries. – After quidditch practice, I slowly walk the now empty halls of Hogwarts. I can barely keep my eyes open as my body is sore from the tasking practice I just had. As I walked closer to the Slytherin common room, I noticed a tall, lanky figure ahead of me.
'Wait, I know that figure anywhere,’ I thought. It was my enemy, my nemesis, Cedric Diggory.
I don’t know why but that man just annoys me. I can’t tell if it’s his demeanor, voice, or his overall presence. ‘Fuck,’ I muttered as I slowly approached him. ‘Wonder what he has to say today.’ I thought in my head.
“Well don’t you look beautiful today, y/n,” Cedric said in the most sarcastic and snarky way. I would beat this guy up if I wasn't so tired, but I have literally no energy. “Don’t you have shit to do, or are you here to frustrate me, as usual?” I said with full attitude.
“Hmm, let me think. Oh wait, I can tell you’re just coming from practice. Gonna beat me this time, baby?” Cedric said while getting closer to me, taking small steps towards me as he talked.
“We all know you won out of pure luck so don’t brag. Okay, babe?” I said while inching my face to his. I could smell a hint of mint and cologne, which shocked me a bit.
I don’t want to admit that I enjoyed his scent because nothing about him will ever be attractive. I guess this one time, he smelled a little too good.
“Oh and just for the record, I will beat your ass Diggory. This game is mine, got it?” I said with the last ounce of sassiness I had left. “Whatever you say, my love. May the best person win.” Cedric said with a mocking chuckle. God, that guy will forever piss me off.
Finally, I left Cedric’s gaze and continued walking to the Slytherin common room. I could not wait to wash off and go to bed. – Today is game day. Slytherin vs. Hufflepuff. I woke up this morning feeling nervous, excited, anxious and stressed. So many feelings just for one morning. However, this is an important day. I need to redeem myself and lead Slytherin to victory. Mainly because I need to show Cedric to never mess with me again.
I got up. My feet slowly touched the cold, dark hardwood floors in the Slytherin dormitories. I quickly got ready. Putting on my quidditch uniform and brushing my long hair into a comfortable ponytail. I put on a little bit of mascara just to mask the fact I haven’t slept longer than 5-6 hours a night.
I rushed out of the common room as fast as possible to get breakfast at the Great Hall. While I was walking, I noticed someone approaching me from behind. I couldn’t determine who it was, so I started walking faster. My feet were moving more quickly than my body, and I tripped. Before I could hit the ground, I felt strong hands catch my body.
In shock, I slowly turned to see who had caught me. To my surprise, it was Cedric Diggory. My eyes were wide, and my mind was consumed with confusion. Him, out of all people, had to be the one to save me from my own clumsiness. “Be careful, y/n. Don’t you have a game to play?” Cedric said with a cheeky smile. I felt my face turn a bit red. Shit, I hope my cheeks aren’t noticeable. I can’t let Cedric know how embarrassed and flustered I am. “Were you following me?” That was the only thing I could say. “No, not on purpose. I just wanted to wish you good luck. Didn’t mean to scare you like that. Anyway, I’ll see you on the pitch.” Cedric said while helping me to my feet, slowly releasing his hands off my body.
I couldn’t say anything. I just looked at Cedric while he walked off. Our eyes were still locked on one another until he was too far. ‘What the fuck was that?’ I muttered lightly, trying to collect my composure. – “y/l/n scored 10 points for Slytherin!” Lee Jordan announced into the microphone. Cheers and clapping consumed the field as Slytherin was ahead 70-50 against Hufflepuff. Slytherin flags were all over the Slytherin side of the Quidditch stand. The Hufflepuff side was particularly quiet, more than usual, but they still got some pride going on.
My eyes were on the target, tunnel vision. I had to win for Slytherin. When waiting for the quaffle to be in reach, I would sometimes catch Cedric’s eyes. As if our eyes always meet at any chance we can get. To be fair, Cedric does have some enchanting brown/grey eyes. ‘No, I can’t think about this right now - I have a game to win,’ I quickly thought. Snapping myself back to reality.
Just within seconds, I noticed the quaffle was coming toward me. I charged on my broomstick to catch it. My arm grabbed the quaffle and flew to my opponent's nearest hoop. Within a flash, I threw the quaffle and scored another goal. “y/l/n scored another 10 points for Slytherin! At this rate y/n might secure a spot as captain next year!” Lee Jordan yelled. I’ve always been told I could be Slytherin's captain, but honestly, I have no interest. I have a love-hate relationship with Quidditch. It would be best if someone who really wants it should be captain.
I took a second to acknowledge my view. The crowd cheered with utter excitement, and celebratory yelling filled the pitch. You can hear the Slytherin flags moving from the wind and louder cheers from the people in the tall stands. I enjoy looking at my accomplishments. Moments like this make me feel grateful and proud of myself.
But before I could get back into the zone, a bludger came speeding toward me, which knocked and broke my broomstick, leading me to fall about 20 feet to the ground. As soon as my body hit the field, I was knocked out. – 1 week later My body felt fragile, weak, and in so much agonizing pain. My eyes were slowly opening, and my vision was blurred. My head was aching, almost like a migraine. I could feel bruises all over my upper body. Through my blurred vision, I noticed that my left arm and leg were in a cast.
It took a few minutes, but I was able to fully open my eyes using all of the strength I had. I was quickly aware of my surroundings. I’m in the hospital wing. I looked slightly down and saw how broken I was. Tears started filling my eyes and were quickly falling down my pale face. ‘What happened to me?’ I quietly asked myself while quivering. My voice was softly raspy as if it wasn’t used for a while.
“You took a hit from a bludger, I’ve always hated those things.” I heard a familiar voice say while approaching me. I slowly turned my head to meet the person who was speaking. My teary eyes widened when I saw it was Cedric. “C-Cedric…” I couldn’t say much before I started crying more. My head fell into my right hand, trying to cover my face from him.
I was too consumed with sadness that I didn’t fully acknowledge Cedric moving next to me. My head fell onto his chest when I felt his body brush over my side. I started to cry more while feeling his warmth against my cold and delicate figure.
While quietly sobbing in his chest, I felt his strong hands softly moving up and down my back. One of his hands circled my head, pushing it closer to his chest.
I couldn’t talk. I just fell into Cedric’s touch. As time passed, I could feel my eyes become heavier and heavier. Before I knew it, I had fallen asleep on Cedric’s chest. His scent and presence felt safe, like a home away from home. – Cedric was still there when I woke up in the middle of the night. Right by my side. He never left. I looked at him in awe while admiring his soft snores.
‘But wait, isn’t this guy my enemy? Why am I all of a sudden feeling all these emotions?’ My head rests against the stiff hospital pillow while my mind is full of thoughts and feelings. Honestly, it is difficult to describe how I feel about Cedric.
It’s similar to the saying, ‘you want what you cannot have.’ Deep down, I love Cedric. I want to care for and understand him for who he honestly is. However, I know I can’t tell him how I feel.
My head turned to Cedric, looking at him in utter confusion. Out of all the people, why is he here with me? We dislike one another. This didn’t make sense… until it did.
‘No, there’s no way,’ I said to myself. ‘Maybe he just feels bad, and that’s why he is here.’ My gaze landed on the ceiling, and I could slowly feel my eyes closing. I passed out with Cedric by my side. At one point, I could feel his hand brush against my right hand, which I slowly held throughout the night.
The following day I woke up. Cedric was nowhere to be found. Disappointment took over my body as I knew everything was too good to be true. Well, as good as it can be right now.
Madame Pomfrey came towards me with a slight smile, “Glad to see you’re awake y/n. How are you feeling my dear?” “I’ve felt better.” I joked around, causing Madame Pomfrey to chuckle a bit. “Well, it’s reassuring to know your humor is still there.” Madame Pomfrey said while pouring me medicine. “Now drink this, it doesn’t taste very delightful but it will help heal your bones.”
I took the cup from Madame Pomfrey and chugged the medicine. She was right. That was absolute shit.
“Good thing no one ever said magic taste good,” I sarcastically said with a sour look on my face from the medicine. “I know dear, but you must take this every 10 hours. Hopefully in week you’ll be able to leave.” Madame Pomfrey reassured. I nodded. “Thank you, Madame Pomfrey,” I said with a kind grind.
“Wait Madame Pomfrey, I-I have a question.” I said in a hurry. “Yes, dear?” Madame Pomfrey replied with a curious yet concerned look on her face.
“I was wondering, do you happen to know why Cedric Diggory was with me last night?” I asked politely.
“Oh, yes. While you were out cold, Cedric stopped by every day for about a week. He would not leave your side,” Madame Pomfrey said. “I’m not one to pry into someone’s personal life, but I think he is quiet fond of you, Miss y/l/n.” Madame Pomfrey said with a slight smile.
‘I can’t believe it, Cedric was with me this whole time,’ I snap out of my thoughts when I see a familiar figure enter the room. Cedric Diggory. “Mr. Diggory,” Madame Pomfrey said with a hidden smile while exiting the room.
“How are you today?” Cedric said with a small bouquet of flowers in his hand. “I-I got these for you… glad to see you awake,” Cedric placed the flowers in a small vase on top of my hospital nightstand.
“I-I’m a bit better, just took some shit medicine,” I said while admiring the flowers. They are roses and chrysanthemums, my favorite. “W-what are you doing here?” I curiously asked.
“I’ve been worried about you since your accident. I started coming to visit every day. Some nights I would accidentally fall asleep, so Madame Pomfrey would let me stay the night. I guess I was waiting for you to wake up,” Cedric said while looking down. I could tell he was nervous by the way he was playing with his fingers.
Then, my eyes locked onto his like they usually do.
His beautiful brown/grey eyes are tired and slightly red from the lackluster sleep he has been having from staying with me most nights.
“Why would you do that?” I asked shyly and quietly.
“Because, y/n, I like you. I’ve always had. I didn’t want to say anything because I know you think the worse of me. I am sorry for causing that impression of me. It’s difficult for me to be vulnerable. I just end up being a dick. I have a tendency to not want to get close to people. But I’ve always cared for you,” Cedric said with the most sincere eyes.
I’ve never seen this side of him. Cedric is your typical handsome-popular guy that every girl wants. He is typically cold-hearted but humble when he needs to be. However, with me, he was always an asshole. Just continually trying to give me a difficult time by teasing or making immature jokes. He also never took me seriously, which irritated me.
This was different. As if Cedric’s whole demeanor had changed. He looked soft, approachable, kind, and genuine. Now, it’s apparent how naturally sympathetic and empathetic he is.
I was just staring at Cedric with soft, teary, doe eyes. I couldn’t speak. I was too thunderstruck to say anything. Cedric slowly sat down next to me, his eyes still locked onto mine. I could feel his hands caressing mine before delicately holding it.
“I really like you, y/n.” Cedric said while getting closer. “I really like you too, Cedric. I’ve always had feelings for you. I just couldn’t express it, and I never thought I would. I can’t begin to describe how thankful I am for you and everything you’ve done for me since my accident,” I said with slight tears.
Cedric didn’t say anything. He leaned in and kissed me passionately. His hand cupped my cheek while the other was carefully holding my hand. I melted into the kiss. I felt safe as a sense of security rushed through my body.
Cedric pulled away from the kiss, and our eyes met again.
“I love you, y/n.” ‘I love you too, Cedric.” The kiss continued, but this time tears were falling down my face. So many emotions are running through my mind, but I know I love this man. I always have. And I always will.

playful in potions

summary: y/n gets overwhelmed in potions class, but Ced is there to save the day (and ask y/n out).
Tumblr media
“Why must Snape assign the most tedious work?” I mumble to myself as I stir my potion counter-clockwise, which would be fine, but I’m not sure if I’ve stirred seven or eight times. My inability to stay focused while brewing potions might be why my potions OWL was…subpar.
“Hey, do you need help?” I’d recognize the soft velvety voice that’s asking anywhere. Cedric Diggory. The guy that every girl in this school is fawning over. The worst part of it is that I can’t even blame them. He’s gorgeous, compassionate, and benevolent. Anyone would want him.
“Yeah, some help would be great,” I admit my defeat as I watch him continue mixing the potion. He adds in something leafy and green that I couldn’t even begin to name. As he stirs the potion, I watch the soft veins in his hands emerge. His sleeves are rolled up, and my eyes trail up his exposed forearms, and slowly to his chest. It’s strong, and I wouldn’t mind laying my head on it while I listen to his heartbeat. We’re shoulder to shoulder as we (really just him) fix the potion, but I don’t mind being so close. I’m admiring his honey hair when he turns to me.
“That should fix it,” he shoots me a gleaming smile while leaning into my ear, “as long as you follow the instructions this time,” he says with a playful whisper. I feel the hairs on my neck raise at the sensation of his breath on my jaw.
“Thank you so much, Ced,” I say the words with a sigh of relief for my grade as he pulls away from me.
“Sorry, what’d you just call me?” His smile drops as he raises one of his eyebrows. I can smell the cologne radiating off his soft skin, but I can’t focus on that as I panic at the realization I called him Ced instead of Cedric.
“Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t realize you didn’t like being called that.”
“I like whatever you want to call me,” he says with a grin. It's the same shimmering smile that has every girl at Hogwarts falling for him. The same one I wouldn’t mind getting to see up close again.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” The words come out flatly because I’m in such shock at his statement. I don’t think I’ve ever had someone flirt with me so obviously.
“It means maybe I could take you out sometime?” I feel every nerve in my body when he says that. He could realistically be asking anyone out, but here he is, standing next to me in potions, with his shoulder pressed against mine, asking if I’ll go out with him.
“You’re really asking me out in potions class?”
“Would you prefer I wait till Charms?” He smirks, and I can’t help but dissolve into laughter with him.
“Not at all,” I pause as we take a moment just to smile at each other, “I’d love to go out with you Cedric.”

Today's date had been in both yours and Cedric's calendars for weeks now. It'd been too long since you had both spent some time alone together.
The times where you snuck around in the library after hours whilst sharing kisses under the guise of studying potions were lovely. But those moments weren't enough. Both of you wanted to enjoy a proper date for once.
So when the two of you were approaching the Three Broomsticks together, hand-in-hand with matching smiles on your faces, all you felt was joy.
You always found yourself smiling in your boyfriend's presence, no matter how horrible your day had been. It was rare for a person to have this affect on you, but you were glad it was Cedric who had taken your heart.
The pair of you chose the booth that you always did. As you were both given unnecessary menus, you sat back in your chair to let the warmth and familiarity envelop your weary body.
But that was when you heard the snide voices chattering away from a nearby table.
Noticing your sudden freeze-up, Cedric reached a hand under the table to link his fingers through yours, "Are you alright, sweetheart?"
"Yeah, kinda." you hum back.
Cedric soon catches on to what has caused your distress, and he was quick to notice that your walls were suddenly flying back up, leaving nothing but a scowl on your face.
You snapped your head towards the group of bratty girls and turned the glare to them. Unsurprisingly, they were a part of the familiar group of Hufflepuffs who trailed after your boyfriend all the time.
"What the fuck is her problem?" one whispered to the other.
The other scoffed, "Slytherins, I don't know what people see in them. Especially ones like her."
You opened your mouth to give a rude retort, but Cedric squeezed your hand and spoke before you could, "I think you two should mind your own business and leave both of us alone. Y/n happens to be nicer, prettier and funnier than either of you could ever be."
That quickly shut the two girls up - but you couldn't find any words either.
Within moments, the pair of girls mumbled what could've been an apology and left the building as quickly as they could.
"Love, are you okay?" Cedric asked tentatively.
You hesitated for a moment, going through Ced's kind words over and over again in your head. Instantly your mood had soared up and you were feeling so much better now that those invasive girls had vanished.
"Yes!" you reply simply and cheerfully, beaming at the brunette in a stark contrast to your glare from earlier, "That was really sweet of you."
Cedric breathed a sigh of relief and sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck, "I was barely scratching the surface of your magnificence."
You pull his hand towards you and oress a gentle kiss to his knuckles (something that he liked to do to you), "You're too good to me Ced."

SERIES MASTERLIST
<- Part 1
It was the next day after the traumatic event that just took place for all wizards and witches of different backgrounds. You still couldn't get over it, it still lingers in the air for you and you could tell that it had a huge impact on Harmonie and Harry as well. You couldn't blame them though, they both came from a muggle background and one of them had his parents killed by the man behind the Death Eaters. You try not to think of it as you got dressed, but it still was a heavy thought that you just ended up wearing a plain dark sea green sweater and plain jeans.
You enter the living room of the tent and everyone was there sitting around, the three older brothers were sitting on the couch and still looked battered from fighting off the Death Eaters last night. Hermione was sitting in one of the chairs and she was still visibly upset about the situation with the elf. Harry was sitting in the other chair that was provided with an unreadable look, and Ron was sitting on the rug by the coffee table upset at Harry for taking the last spot in the living room. Ginny was absent along with the twins and Mr. Weasley, but you figured the twins were at the table and Ginny might still be asleep or with Mr. Weasley in the kitchen. So you made your way to the table and you were right about the twins sitting there, however, you still weren’t sure about the whereabouts of Ginny and Mr. Weasley.
The twins' sat at the table with a tired look on their faces, it seemed like they didn’t get great sleep last night like everyone else, but their expressions quickly lightened up and were filled with a bit of energy when they saw you. “Morning,” They said in sync with a smile on their face.
“Morning, how did you two sleep?” You questioned the boys as you took one of the chairs, you flipped around so you could sit on it backwards but still be able to look at the two mischievous gingers before you.
George was first to answer, “It took me about a good solid two hours to sleep and I kept waking up at random times, but overall it was fine.” It took you by surprise for a second that George was first to answer since it was always Fred who first opened his mouth, but you just thought that Fred was a bit tired today.
“It was alright,” Fred simply said before shooting the question back to you on how well you slept.
“Mine was… I don’t know. I guess I slept well, but I had a nightmare about how I lost everyone in the crowd and no one was willing to help me… I just couldn't find you.”
“Not even good ol’ Mr. Perfect?” George questions you in a joking way to hopefully make you feel better and lighten up the mood, “What a shocker since it seems to me he fancied you.” You shake your head at George’s conclusion about Cedric and his feelings for you. “You shake your head and not believe me but trust me, Pretty Boy Cedric got something for you. I mean he was really-”
“George,” You quickly cut him off before he could go on to a tangent, “He doesn’t ‘fancy’ me, he’s dating someone already. He’s just awkward and trying to be a good friend so drop it.”
“I don’t know, George might be right.” Fred shrugs siding with his twin brother. You roll your eyes, you may love him to death, but this was getting ridiculous. “Look, [Name]. If you look at it from our perspective, you will see that something is going on.” You shake your head and rub your temple, these sudden accusations about Cedric annoyed you a lot. You knew full well that there was nothing going on, Cedric might’ve been awkward around you guys because it’s his first time talking to you guys and he probably felt a bit timid considering most of the people in the group were rivaling Quidditch teams.
“Whatever, it’s like arguing with a brick wall. But if you ask me, you might want to stay away from Cedric in school or it might cause some issues. We can't have our best friend's hair being pulled out by his many different fangirls.” George concluded the conversation. You were about to protest but decided to drop it, you didn’t want to get into a bigger argument about such a stupid topic. The three of you sat in silence like everyone. You wondered if the others eavesdropped on the small little argument that just took place, now that would be awkward, especially with Hermonie's teasing nature towards you.
It was completely silent, not even Fred or Geroge were cracking jokes, but thankfully it was broken by Ginny and Mr. Weasley exiting the kitchen with sandwiches prepared for the group to eat for breakfast. “Hurry up and eat everyone!” Mr. Weasley announces to the group, “We need to catch the next portkey!” After those words were announced, it went back to silence with the occasional sound of munching on the sandwiches that were made.
You all walked up to The Burrow and you were all greeted by Mrs. Weasley who was worried sick about everyone’s well-being. She quickly ran up to all of you and hugged and kissed you all on the cheek. “Oh, my Merlin! You don’t know how worried I was!” Mrs. Weasley yelled at the group before turning her focus on Bill, Charlie, and Percy. “And look at you three!”
“Mother, we’re fine-” Percy spoke up for the trio, but he was quickly silenced by Mrs. Weasley.
“I beg to differ! You three look like a mess!” Mrs. Weasley yelled at her oldest boys. Mr. Weasley had to quickly step in before she could bombard them with her worries and concern. However, it took her a good two minutes to calm down. But you couldn’t blame Mrs. Weasley for her extreme concern for the group, if you were in her position you would be reacting the same way. After Mrs. Weasley was calmed down, they all went inside. “Oh, I’m so sorry everyone! I forgot to go shopping for school supplies because of how worried sick I was for you all!” Mrs. Weasley panicked and quickly apologized to the teens attending the school for witches and wizards soon.
“It’s fine Mrs. Weasley. We could do it some other day.” Harry spoke up.
You nodded in agreement as you spoke up as well, “Yeah, and now that you mentioned it. I totally forgot to go school shopping earlier, so thankfully I could actually get it done with you guys.” You laughed nervously as you admitted your poor time management skills and procrastination. You swore two to three weeks ago to go school shopping but you just never did. You blamed it on taking care of the creatures but you knew full well that it was something that you subconsciously put off, which didn’t help you in the end when there wasn’t much time left in the holiday.
“Alright, we can go shopping the day after tomorrow.” Mrs. Weasley calmed down after hearing the words that came out of your and Harry’s mouths. You will soon come to regret opening up about how you never went shopping over the break since you knew about Ginny and Hermonie always teased about your procrastination, well, Ginny was more making fun of you type of way.
“[Name] I thought you would know better by now to not procrastinate school shopping, I thought you would’ve learned your lesson since this is the third time in a row.” Ginny made fun of you with a snicker.
“Third? I thought it was their fourth.” Hermione jumped in giggling. The twins started chuckling at the two girls teasing.
You rolled your eyes playfully. “Okay, okay. I get it, I need to work on myself.”
“You better or Cedric might lose interest after finding out how bad your procrastination is.” Ginny laughed, but you stayed silent, not even reacting to what she had said. Cedric. Cedric. Cedric. Cedric. Why does everyone think something is going on between you two? The only “romantic” thing you did was laying your head on his shoulders and him resting his head on yours? But he was trying to help you rest for a bit comfortably. You and Fred would do it sometimes, how come no one ever says anything about it? “You two are friends so it’s obviously platonic” was the answer you possibly would get if you questioned them about it.
If things couldn’t get any better, Fred jumped in. “Oh, they don’t need to worry or care about that. They’re adamant about Cedric not fancying them because he’s dating Cho and that he’s just an ‘awkward and caring’ person.” He air quoted “awkward and caring” and that was enough to say how he viewed the Hufflepuff.
“All of you are aggravating,” Was all that you murmured before rubbing your temple. Everyone cackled at your annoyance which pissed you off even more, and you were going to show them your anger by giving them the silent treatment for the rest of today and all of tomorrow. However, you knew that promise would be broken since you couldn’t ignore them for that long. You stormed up to the room that you were staying in and sat down on the mattress that you were sleeping on while you stayed at The Burrow. You needed a break from everyone’s constant bombarding with Cedric. Cedric this, Cedric that. It was infuriating. You rubbed your temple again to release some tension that was building up. It was a mindless habit that you had when you were upset about something, it often helped with releasing a bit of anger. You grabbed a book that your parent(s) gifted to you last Christmas from your suitcase. It was a book about dragons and how to take care of them. Hopefully, it would help with calming you down.
An hour or maybe longer had passed from when you first entered the room to get away from everyone. It was peaceful and silent, something that was rare at The Burrow but it would be broken by a sudden knock at the door and a voice that cooed from the other side, “Oh, [Name].” You immediately knew it was Fred and he let himself into the room since he knew he wouldn’t get a message to come in right now. He walked up to the mattress and lay down, putting his head onto your lap so he wasn’t that easy to ignore. “Are you still mad at me?” He pouted, the tone of his voice reminded you of a toddler that just got yelled at.
You tried your best to ignore him by continuing reading your book but Fred snatched the book out of your hands, so you could put your full focus on him. “You’re still mad about us picking on you?” He sat up and turned his body towards you, but in that short time, you didn’t give him a response. “I’m taking that as a yes. [Name], you know we are just messing with you. We know that Cedric really doesn’t fancy you, we’re just trying to have fun.” He apologized to you on the behalf of everyone. “Speaking of fun, why are you stuck up here reading a book when you could be having fun with us by playing Quidditch with us?” He wraps his arm around you. You turned the other way to face away from Fred to hide the smile that was fighting its way to appear on your lips. “[Name]! You can’t ignore me forever!” Fred whines before tickling your sides. You tried to hold in your laughter but you just couldn’t.
“Okay, okay!” You blurted out, a wide smile appeared on your blushing face. You jokingly try to push Fred away to make him stop but he keeps ongoing. You both were a laughing mess.
Fred eventually stopped with his nonsense and looked you dead in the eye. “Are you still mad at us? Me?” He questions you with a joking pouty face that you couldn’t help but giggle at.
“I don’t know…” You jokingly answered, he threw his head back and placed a hand over his heart then clenched his shirt dramatically.
“Oh, [Last Name]! You hurt me so much!” Fred laughed as he recovered from his dramatic stunt.
“But fine, I guess I forgive you… and the others.” You finally forgave him, or you guessed them, seriously.
“So that means you’ll play Quidditch with us instead of having your nose deep in a book like ‘Mione?”
“Maybe… But I feel like I’m a bit rusty. I never got to play any Quidditch over summer break.”
“Tsk, tsk [Name]. You’re always procrastinating, aren't you?” You rolled your eyes at Fred’s words. “No matter though, you’re just giving the other team a winning chance.” You two started laughing again. You enjoyed little moments like these, and you honestly needed it, especially after such an event happened just last night. After the laughing fit was done, he got up from the mattress and grabbed your hand to drag you down to the orchard where a makeshift Quidditch ground stood. Ginny, Charlie, Bill, Harry, George, and Ron all stood in the pit as they waited for you guys. You figured that Hermonie was just going to watch from the sidelines and help keep track of points, and you already knew that Percy was cooped up in his room dealing with work for the ministry.
“It’s about time you guys came!” Charlie hollered at you and Fred from where he stood. The stance he took looked a bit intimidating and it didn’t make it any better when he had one of the beater sticks in his hand. “I thought we were going to start without you two!” You two quickly jogged over to the group so you didn’t keep them waiting. While you two were jogging you almost tripped over Crookshanks and Brutus that were running away from the gnomes. You honestly thought they would’ve learned their lesson by now on to not mess with them, but you thought wrong.
You two finally made it to the pit, where a box was presented with the different balls used during Quidditch, but you notice that the snitch was nowhere to be seen in the box. You keep forgetting that you and the twins were the reason for the missing snitch two years ago when you visited them. You three still hope that one day it magically shows up and you don’t care how it might show up, it could fly right into someone’s head you all will be grateful that it finally has been caught.
“Okay, everyone. Charlie and I are the captains and that means we’re picking who we want on our team!” Bill announces to the group, you already knew that this was going to be unfair.
“You guys as captains and choose! That’s unfair!” Ron protested to his older brothers but it fell on deaf ears.
“And thanks to some people losing the snitch,” Bill looked at you and the twins before turning his attention to the whole group, “We won’t have any seekers, which helps out in the end since we don’t have many people.” Once Bill got done announcing to the group how things were going to be, he and Charlie played rock, paper, and scissors to show who gets to pick first. It took five rounds before Charlie was named victorious.
Charlie looked at the group deciding who he should take. “I want [Name] to be my chaser!” He made his decision and announced this to the group. This would go on for a good seven to nine minutes for the teams to get into order, and you could already tell who was going to win. Charlie’s team consisted of you being the chaser, him and George as the beaters, and Ginny as the keeper. Bill’s consisted of Harry as the chaser, Ron and Fred as the beaters, and Bill as the keeper. Ron complained a few times about the unfairness of the two teams, with Charlie’s team as a whole but he was quickly silenced by Fred questioning what he meant by those words.
Before the game could commence, they quickly went over the rules that were modified to fit this situation. You all got on to your brooms and got into proper position, you all waited for Bill to whistle as a way to signal that the game had started.
The sun was about to set and the game had finally ended when dinner was announced by Mr. and Mrs. Weasley. The game ended with an unknown winner, both teams claim that they had won but even Hermonie didn’t know who won since she lost track of the points twenty minutes in. Everyone was tired and some even had bruises and dirt spread across their bodies. Quidditch was an unsafe sport especially when you have people from the most competitive houses that would do anything to win.
The dinner was set outside like the day before the Quidditch World Cup. Crookshanks was still playing with the gnomes while Brutus laid down beside your feet, tired from messing around the gnomes with Hermonie’s cat. At the table, everyone was arguing as to who won the game exactly. Percy was irritated about the argument that took place, it gave him a bigger migraine with eight people yelling at each other about the game. Mrs. Weasley was also getting quite annoyed about the bickering that was going on. “Can you all please settle down?” Mr. Weasley called out to the group in a polite tone, however, it didn’t die down.
“If you guys keep this up, you’re all not getting any ice cream!” Mrs. Wealsey calls out in a more harsher tone than Mr. Wealsey to the group. You all were quick to go silent at the threat of a sweet cold treat not being served to you guys thanks to your bickering. “Thank you.” Mrs. Weasley huffed out. She was rubbing her temple as a way for her muscles to relax from being tense thanks to everyone’s loud arguing.
“We’ll settle this tomorrow, we’ll rematch!” Charlie announced which caused Mrs. Wealsey and Percy to groan out in annoyance: they could already tell that even with a rematch, the arguing will just continue.
“How about we just not play Quidditch for the rest of the week?” Mr. Weasley questioned the group, trying to avoid any more conflict between the two teams and of course him and his beloved wife and son. However, such a simple question would create a bigger conflict as the two teams started to protest against the idea. The three outsiders then just gave up on trying to get you all to stop with your nonsense.
It was the day to finally go to Diagon Alley for school shopping. There was still tension in the group after Charlie’s team won by just a point, but Bill’s team always argue that it doesn’t count since they were distracted by Mrs. Weasley announcing dinner.
Everyone was dressed in their robes and you and the twins stuck out like a sore thumb due to you three being the only Slytherins in the cozy house. You all stood in a line as Mrs. Weasley handed you guys some Floo powder. You weren’t looking forward to using Floo powder, especially after the chaos of the Portkey: you just can’t get that sinking feeling out of your stomach after using that transportation method. You just couldn’t wait to turn eighteen so you can take Apparate classes and never have to rely on those two methods for transportation ever again, or so you hope.
“Now, Harry this time speak LOUD and CLEARLY!” Mrs. Weasley instructed Harry, you forgot about the time that Harry fumbled on his words and got transported to some completely different place, sure he was found, but who knows if he’ll fumble on his words badly and end up in some other country. Harry just nodded at Mrs. Weasley's instructions. Fred went first, then Geroge, and then it was your turn.
You stood in the fireplace with a handful of Floo Powder in your left hand. “Diagon Alley!” You shouted and dropped the powder to your feet, as you dropped it you were engulfed in a green flame and you were gone from the fireplace and were instead in a fireplace of a pub in Diagon Alley where ashes filtered all around you. You turned into a coughing fit, thanks to the ashes, as you walked over to the twins that were waiting for you and everyone else at a table. You started to dust some of the remaining ashes off of you, trying not to do it so rough so you don’t make it worse. “Finally getting used to traveling by Floo Powder?” Fred questioned you. When you first visited the Weasley’s you couldn’t quite stick the landing when traveling through this method but after doing it for a while when you’re with them, you started to get the hang of it.
“Yeah, I guess-” A cough that emitted from your mouth cut your sentence off, when you were sure you were done you continued your sentence, “Yeah, I guess I finally am.”
“About time.” George chuckled as you sat down beside Fred.
Soon Ron came through the fireplace along with Hermoine and Harry, after the trio came Ginny and of course, Mrs. Wealsey was last. Ron was in the same predicament as you when it came to ashes all around his body, but it seemed like what he thought was helping was the complete opposite. “Ron, stop doing that! You’re just making it worse!” Hermoine scolded the ginger.
“Sorry that I don’t want to be walking around looking like a buffoon with ashes all over me!” Ron yelled back as his brows furrowed at the girl with curly brown hair.
“You’ll just look like a bigger buffoon with those stains!” Soon the group had to wait while Mrs. Wealsey had to help clean up Ron. You all just wished that Ron would’ve just left the ashes alone so you didn’t have to wait this long just to go shopping. Once the two were finished, you all walked out onto the streets of Diagon Alley which had many witches and wizards that were also shopping a bit later. A certain wizard stood amongst the crowd: Cedric Diggory. The perfect young wizard was doing last-minute shopping since he had horrible time management skills which he needed to work on to keep up the image of him being head boy, perfect, and captain of Hufflepuff that everyone admires. Plus, he needed to work on it since he was taking N.W.E.T. classes and he needed a good working schedule so he wasn’t suffocating from the heavy amounts of work, however, there was a third reason that was developing. You, specifically to impress you and how you could rely on him for help on assignments. Speaking of you, he caught a group of redheads in the corner of his eyes. He knew full well that it was the Weasleys, they were a family that you just couldn’t miss with their fiery orange hairs. Then he spotted you in the group. You were laughing and by the looks of it, it was because they were cracking jokes about Ron who was red in the face. He couldn’t help but admire you for a second as the world stopped for him. It would resume when you and your group went into a shop, he didn’t bother to read what the store was. He just had to pursue after you.
He entered the store only to be greeted by rows upon rows of books, he quickly knew that he was in Flourish and Blotts. Just his luck. He started looking through the aisles but he knew it was useless, so he climbed up the stairs to have a better look at the first floor, but when he peered over the railing, he couldn’t catch a glimpse of you; instead, he could only see Ron and Harry. Thus he started searching through the aisles of the bookshelves looking for you. His mind started to wonder at the possible surprised and excited look on your face when he purposely bumps into you since he didn’t want to seem creepy just coming up to you in public like this. Very ironic really. He was trying to prepare for the encounter and how he’ll start the conversation, but he wasn’t prepared right there and then when he accidentally bumps into the person he’s been looking for. You. He looked down at you, and he froze. He was trying to collect his thoughts to try and produce a sentence, but all that came out was a messily “sorry”. “It’s fine, none of us are hurt hopefully,” You laughed as you accepted his apology.
“Ye…yeah,” Cedric murmured, letting out a breathy chuckle. “How have you been holding up?” Cedric questions you, gaining back some confidence. However, he didn’t gain anything as he stood there, his mind was racing with the scenario of you two talking.
“I’ve been… alright.” You paused as you tried to find the right words to put how you were feeling after such an event, how you really couldn’t think straight, especially without the presence of him there. “It’s just that I’ve been a little lonely. Sure Fred and George kept me company, but sometimes they can be quite the bullying gits. You know?”
Cedric nodded in understanding, seeing how the twins didn’t spare anyone from their mischievous wrath. “Yeah. I bet they can be a bit harsh,”
“Yeah… I feel like I need someone a bit more… compassionate? Like…” You paused as you looked at him before looking away out of embarrassment. “Nevermind. How have you been?”
“The same as you, but minus the two gingers constantly pestering me with jokes and pranks.” He answered with a little giggle at the end and you joined him. “Not many of my friends came to visit me or wrote to me to see how I’ve been.”
“What about Cho?” The way you said Cho’s name sounded like you and her have been sworn enemies forever.
“Not even her…” The answer caused a smile to appear on your lips hearing that you were the only one concerned for his well-being.
You looked at the brunette that was in a daze, it seemed like he suddenly froze up. It was very out of character for him. Sure, he was awkward but he still could hold up a conversation unlike what’s going on here. “Hey… are you alright Cedric?” You waved your hand in front of him, it was a little awkward that you even had to do this in the first place. “You kinda froze up on me.”
Cedric jumps at your sudden movement. He finally was able to break away from his enchanted daydream.
“O-oh! So sorry! I was thinking of something!” Cedric blurted out, he started to try to think of something to lie about that caused his odd behavior.
“It’s fine, but uh, I gotta get going. The others and I have a lot of shopping to do,” You spoke up as you started to walk away from the boy, “See you at school!”
“Yeah!” Cedric yelled out as he watched you walk off. A smile was on his lips for a second when you bid your farewell, but the smile would disappear when you vanished into the crowd; leaving him in the dust just like that. He was going to kick himself later that night for not even raising a question to you if he could tag along, but he might as well “observe” you from the sidelines as you have fun with everyone that wasn’t him. Such bitterness will stick with him forever and he probably will never get rid of it.
You looked at the books that you have purchased. There were normal, by wizarding standards, textbooks for your upcoming classes that’ll probably make you fall into a pit of stress. Then there were some books that you purchased for your pleasure and to enjoy during your leisure or to pass the time. You knew Fred and George were going to start teasing you any second now seeing the books that you have purchased, it was just in their nature to tease you about everything and anything. “Are you seriously going to be digging your nose in books all year long?” Fred teased you as he popped up out of nowhere on your right side.
“Won’t you get tired of reading after reading your textbooks?” George then teased as he popped up out of nowhere like Fred, but was on your left side.
“Ha, ha, ha.” You faked laugh at their nonsense, “Well, reading will be the only thing that’ll help pass the time.”
“What are we not good enough for you?” The gingers asked you in sync.
“Getting to that point,” You jokingly answered and they both pouted and started whining about how much you hurt their feelings with your words.
“Well, what about Cedric? Don’t you have him to talk to? I mean you and him were talking for good while in Flourish and Boltts.” George said. You were surprised that they saw you and Cedric “talking”.
“We weren’t talking, it was more or so Cedric being absent-minded and I getting slightly uncomfortable.” You corrected George about the odd conversation with Cedric. “Besides I don’t know Cedric that much and he’s probably just trying to be nice by checking up on me, even though he dazed off.” You murmured to the last part.
“Yeah, sure.” That was what all Fred had said about the topic at hand. “
It has been a week since your last awkward encounter with Cedric. It was about time to get to Platform 9¾ to catch a ride on the Hogwarts Express to get to, obviously, Hogwarts and catch up with all your friends that didn’t come with you, the Weasleys, and the two muggles of the big group.
Mrs. Weasley was going to be taking the group since Mr. Weasley was too busy that day dealing with Ministry work, so it would be easier for Harry and Hermonie not to be constantly bombarded with questions if the outfits looked muggle enough or not. Sure, Mrs. Weasley will ask them if they do look like muggles or not, but never to the degree that Mr. Weasley takes it. According to both Harry and Hermonie, we look Muggle enough: they said the luggage that we have with us right now will just look like we’re just people on holiday and now are returning to where they originally lived. After situating yourselves, you all quickly hurry over to the muggle world so you don’t miss the train and avoid getting wet from the rain.
The rain poured and poured as you all tried to grab your suitcases and trunks out of the cab's trunk, it was all going well until a certain ginger's bag combust with fireworks shooting all around them. "What the bloody hell Fred!" You yelled at Fred through your gritted teeth yet he seemed more worried about the lost profit than getting in trouble. So much for trying to blend in with the Muggles.
"It's not my fault!" Fred yells back at you as he tries to make the fireworks stop. The taxi driver at that point looked upon the chaotic scene of three teens trying to make fireworks that were coming out of a suitcase to stop while in the rain; he looked like he was almost about to pass out.
"Fred, why didn't you put it in one of the trunks!? We're trying to sneak them in, not get caught by all of King Cross!" George yells at his twin just like you.
After twenty seconds, the fireworks stopped and the trio continued their unloading while throwing snarky insults at one another, mainly towards Fred for his foolish mistake. Once they took the last thing out of the cab and closed the doors, the car sped off for very obvious reasons like to get away from the weird teens. They regrouped with the others and had to listen to Mrs. Weasley rant about how irresponsible they were and that she would be checking all their stuff before they got on the train. You only hoped that the twins hide their gags well.
You load your things on the trolleys like everyone else and rush towards the entrance of the platform of 9¾. You all had an interesting way to get in, some ran straight for it while some acted sly while doing it so no one questioned why a group of people disappeared through a wall. You and the twins were obviously the sly ones since it was just in your joking and mischievous nature. You three leaned on the wall waiting for the right moment to slide right into the entrance when it started getting a bit more crowded in the muggle train station the three of you slid right in blending in with the crowd walking or rushing to their next destination. The trio of misfits ran through a short tunnel before they reached Platform 9¾, the place was filled with students bidding their families farewell or joining their friends that they haven’t seen all holiday. The twins and you were the second option as you three spotted a group of misfits just like yourselves; the group consisted of: Lee Jordan who was a Gryffindor who shared the same love for pranks as the twins, Angelina Johnson was also a Gryffindor but was tamer than Lee however she is still quite a competitive person, Isla Tay was a fellow Slytherin who was Singaporean-Scottish with tan skin and black shoulder-length hair that have a pair of round brown eyes to match, Nadia Hassan was a black girl with hazel eyes and a blue hijab with star rhinestones scattered throughout it from Ravenclaw and was also from Welsh, and José Rodriguez was a Mexican transfer student in Hufflepuff and he looked similarly to Isla but he had a Shaggy beard going on and wore a yellow beanie over his hair that slightly resembles Cedric's.
Lee was first to see you guys and his face immediately lit up like the sun. "Hey, you guys!" He shouted waving his arms in the air excitedly. His excitement caught the rest of the group's attention and turned to who he was exactly calling out for and once they saw it was you guys, they ran up to you three.
"Oh, my Merlin! It's been forever!" Isla yells and she pulls you into a hug.
"I wrote to you all holiday long," You laughed at her enthusiasm as you hugged her back.
"I know but I still miss you!" Isla lets go of you as her smile grows brighter like Lee's. Besides the twins, you were closer to Isla out of everyone in the friend group which would make a lot of sense since you two met when you both were first years riding the train to Hogwarts so it was almost like fate that you two would be best friends and similar.
You eight chatted for a bit before it was announced that the train was leaving soon, so you and the twins had to separate from the group for a second to go bid farewell to Mrs. Weasley. While you were with your group of friends, a certain "perfect" boy was watching from afar squinting his eyes with bitter jealousy. Cedric was with his group of his friends, they were talking about some random thing that he only guessed was Quidditch related, he didn’t know since he could care less about the topic since he was focused on the animal that was in his jacket and on an individual that has been plaguing his mind for the last weeks. He felt more at ease with them than with Cho who he is supposed to love and cherish with all of his heart, but it seems that you were the true owner of his heart. He deemed that you two were on a sustainable basis with how you two were during the Quidditch World Cup, but he thought there were some minor setbacks due to him daydreaming right in front of them about having a conversation with them while trying to converse with them, irony at its finest. However, this young man has hope for this year. You two might have a lot of classes with each other and play Quidditch with you, plus, if he is really lucky you two would train and study with each other.
Cedric's teeth gritted behind his closed mouth and his hands were forming fists as he saw how you seemed so happy with everyone that wasn’t him. "How does that sound Ced?" A friend of his questioned him all of a sudden. Cedric turns to the friend that was questioning him and tries to calm down.
"What were you asking? I blanked out." Cedric made up an excuse to his friend so he wasn’t agreeing to something he would regret later.
"I was asking if you wanted to join us in our usual cabin instead of the perfects," the friend answers, he and the rest of the group looked at Cedric with confusion: Cedric blanking out and not being in conversation was such a foreign concept to them and many other people. "You alright Ced? You never are usually this quiet or blank out."
"I'm alright just tired and I guess I'm still a bit shaken up about what happened during the Quidditch World Cup," Cedric lies before answering the other question, "But I have to stay with the other perfects, but maybe we can sit together when we ride to train home." His answer was a let down to the group, but to Cedric, it helped him a lot, for he could easily slip away from the Prefects cabin and check up on you and possibly converse with you more.
You bid Mrs. Weasley a farewell with the others then walked back to your friend group and headed towards your usual cabin until the trio of girls stopped the group and hurried everyone to a cabin. "Why aren't we sitting in our usual spot?" Lee asks the two, just as confused as everyone else.
"We made it just in time," Was all that Nadia said as she waved her hands to signal the group to quickly sit down. She sat right by the window and peers put in the hall, almost like she was waiting for someone.
"What is this all about, guys?" José was now the one to question the girls as he sat down opposite Nadia.
Isla hurried to sit down right next to Nadia and look out in the hall as well. "Just wait, he might be coming soon!" The others just sat down in confusion. José sat in the middle of you and Fred on the right side of the cabin, Lee also sat on the right side by Fred and the window. On the left side: Angelina sat in between Isla and George. The eight of you watched for the hallway since there was someone special coming aboard soon.
As people start getting on the train you notice that Marcus Turner was the first to enter the cabin across from yours, while most of the group only knew him for being Ravenclaw's Prefect. Then Arthur Goodrich, Gryffindor's perfect, enters. Things were starting to click between the group as to why they were seated there. Nora Cunningham, Slytherin's perfect, enters the cabin as well. It was only a matter of time until the man of the hour entered the cabin.
The Hufflepuff Perfect walked down the narrow, ruby aisle of the train just to get to the perfect train. It seemed that in every cabin he passed he couldn’t see you, only girls fawning over him. He felt hopeless. He felt that he might’ve passed you or you were further back. "Is this all about Diggory? Then let me tell you ladies something, [Name] and Cedric- Ow! What was that for [Name]!?" He heard a voice near the Perfects cabin, it was one of the twins. He started to feel hope again, as he quickened his pace. He looked at the cabin across from the perfects and saw you sitting in between your friends. One of the twins was rubbing his shoulder as he glared at you, the boys were snickering at the scene while the girl gawked at Cedric.
"Hey, [Name]," Cedric spoke up with a smile gleaming on his face. He truly made the right choice picking to sit with the perfects instead of his friends, maybe his intuition is getting better.
"Hey, Cedric." You greeted back with a faint smile and a small wave. Lee and the other twin cooed at you in a joking manner which caused you to glare at the two.
"See you at Hogwarts and if you need anything, I'm just across from you," Cedric said, sending a small wink towards you before closing the door to your cabin and entering the perfects with a big smile and proud of himself for being what he deemed sly.
You sat there flabbergasted along with the others. "He doesn’t ‘fancy’ me, he’s dating someone already," Fred said mockingly and made a horrible impression of you thus earning him a smack to the arm by you.
"He was probably just joking around-" You tried to defend Cedric but were cut off by Nadia.
"Friends wink at each other?"
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure we all did it to one another as a joke at one point besides you." You argued and you were right. The group, besides Nadia, has winked at each other in some way as a joke or a friendly manner. It was odd though that Cedric would wink at you since the two of you weren’t that close, but you chalked it up to just him feeling comfortable around you.
Angelina spoke up wanting to get some answers on how someone like Cedric was friends with you. "Okay, now I genuinely need to know what happened during the holidays. No offense [Name], but how did you and Cedric become so close? The two of you never talked, I'm pretty sure he didn't even know you existed all these years or I guess he knew a bit about you since you both played Quidditch, but still."
"We talked a lot when going to the Quidditch World Cup and during it," You answered with a plain answer, but you knew one of the twins was going to pipe up.
"And don't forget after when you were lying your head on his shoulders and he was all smiling and giddy over it!" Fred spoke up before his brother could.
"Fred and I kept teasing them about it when we got home how he fancy them, but they keep on denying it saying that he's just an awkward guy that's also comfortable around them and that he’s dating Cho so he couldn’t possibly like them." George carried on. The rest of the group looked as though they weren't believing what they were hearing, they wouldn't believe what the twins were saying if it weren't for how you were acting when the twins would tease you about Cedric plus with how you and Cedric seemed comfortable around each other.
Isla broke the small silence, "You know how many people would want to be you?" You only rolled your eyes at her words. "If I were you I would be like 'yeah, he fancies me and I'll be a better partner than Cho'," Isla said in a sassy way. Now you couldn’t believe what you were hearing. Things just keep repeating themselves.
Soon the train began to leave, people were yelling from the train their last farewells to their families before going off to Hogwarts. Of course your group waved goodbye to their own families, before sitting back down. "Why aren't you guys respectful towards Cho?" You questioned the group.
"What do you mean?" Isla questions you.
You furrowed your brows at your own best friend, you were also in a state of disbelief of how she and possibly the others don't see anything disrespectful. You sighed, "nothing, nevermind." You weren't just going to kill the whole mood just like that and go on a rant about respecting other people. And just after that sentence, the group continues to joke about the situation, even Fred who you thought apologized to you like a week ago. This was ridiculous, utterly ridiculous. Yet, you acted as if nothing was wrong to not disturb the atmosphere; however, you knew the twins will bug you about how all of a sudden you're now joking about it once you guys get to Hogwarts.
After some time had passed the group dropped the jokes about Cedric and you, they moved on to other stuff like how everyone’s summers were. José seemed to be full of nonsense with his pet dog that looked like it was one sneeze away from passing. Angelina's was full of training for Quidditch so she can be Gryffindor's Quidditch team's Captain. Isla was of course writing to you, but also traveling around with her family since they wanted to see a few landmarks that Muggles always go crazy about. Nadia said she didn't do much besides really reading and cooking. Lee said he has been binge watching all of the Quidditch World Cups but also has been trying to practice playing Quidditch even though he really has no desire to play for a team, he just wanted to get better at it so he could play with you guys. All of the descriptions of the holidays were pretty average and boring to say but you couldn’t really say anything since up until going to the Burrow, you have just been taking care of magical creatures.
Soon the topic shifted to the twins and the mischievous things they had planned that year and there was going to be the grand one near the end of the year that will end the school year with a bang, and according to Fred it quite literally will end with a bbang. The two tried to tie Angelina in on it since she was the only one in the group, but she didn't budge not one bit. "Nope, unlike you guys I have to make sure that I stay on my best behavior so I can be captain!" Angelina protested.
"So? You can still be captain and pull pranks with us." Lee tried to convince her.
"No evidence, No crime." José also tried to convince her.
"We all will literally help to cover up if you were part of it!" Nadia pleaded.
"Besides, you need to loosen up and this is the best way." You chimed in.
"You guys are insufferable," Angelina rubbed her temple and sigh, "fine…"  Angelina finally gave in and everyone in the group cheered at their victory, it was loud to the point they didn't notice the door abruptly opening. Then an audible clear throat sound tried to compete with the wild teenagers' antics. That was when the group looked at who interrupted their fun. They all collectively thought it was the Ravenclaw's perfect since it was obvious that he never once liked them and them being loud in the cabin right next to the perfects was asking for trouble, but it wasn't him to your guys' surprise. It was Cedric. The group soon started to snicker and look at you in a teasing way.
"Hogwarts… uh," Cedric gulps a little before trying to continue his sentence, "Hogwarts wants Perfects to start checking up on people on the train, so uh, do you all have your stuff in order?" Cedric was trying to lie about the fact that he just wanted to see you, but in his mind his voice was more confident and he didn't stammer a lot. "Also, Marcus wants you all to q-"
"Quiet down we know," George mumbles a little tired to hear the name of the Ravenclaw's perfect.
"You tell that sod-" Fred was about to yell something that would get you all in trouble if it weren't for Angelina kicking his leg, not hard but hard enough for Fred to get the message to close his mouth.
"You know you can take [Name] with you, they probably wouldn't mind." Isla said teasingly mostly towards you.
"I swear to Merlin, I HATE you so much." You grumbled at Isla and emphasized the "hate". Cedric was a bit hurt to hear you say this after one of their friends teased you about him, did you not want to see him? His grip on the door tightened and his teeth gritted against each other at the idea of you not enjoying his overall company. "Cedric, you should finish checking up on other students, if you spend another second here these guys' idiocy will rub off onto you." Was all you said before the whole cart went into silence just glare at you. While everyone else was glaring at you, Cedric gave out a little chuckle and waved you farwell. He closed the door. Maybe it was because you were embarrassed of your friends as to why you were so hesitant to talk to him. Cedric thought as he felt like he cracked some sort of unsolved ancient mystery. What also thrilled him was that it seemed that you also have a slight dislike for your own companies, which was far from the truth in reality, so he felt like he didn't have to worry about replacing you friends since it would be done in a snap of his fingers.
He walked into the perfects' cabin and sat down with the other people that were looked up to at Hogwarts. "They shouldn't be a bother for now," Cedric informs the group about the noisy group. Everyone seemed to take in count of his words and carried on to the previous conversation, but the Ravenclaw didn't buy any of his words; however, he would carry on the conversation with the others leaving Cedric almost alone in his own thoughts. He can only imagine that once you and he were at the school of witchcraft, you two had the same classes. "What a coincidence!" You say as you look at the brunette's schedule. It seemed that they were the same papers if it weren't for the names of who they belonged to.
"I know right! I guess we can be study partners for now on!" Cedric said beaming with joy at you two being together for a whole year.
"Maybe we can also be Quidditch partners since my other friends are so annoying and it seems that I won't be able to see them most of the time this school year, which is lucky me because you are so much better than them."
"Oh please! [Name], I know I'm great, but you don't have to say it out loud!"
"Oh? I thought Hufflepuff's were supposed to be humble?"
"Maybe I'm not like other Hufflepuffs." You and Cedric would laugh at the irony being displayed by Cedric with him not fitting the exact mold that everyone thought he fit in.
"I feel like a bit of me rubbed off on you then," You laughed even more, "or I guess Mr. Perfect isn't so perfect. Not complaining though." You would not care if he wasn't the perfect boy that everyone, even his family, views him as. It made him feel more comfortable to be around you and relax more… he can be himself and you wouldn't care like the others. He doesn't have to feel the heavy burden around you like he does with others. You two would then talk and talk. He would even show you his familiar named Arthur that he takes everywhere he goes since it brings him comfort.
A smile was starting to plaster on Cedric's face and he was trying his best to hide it, but it was proving to be a difficult task. He tried to hide it by placing his hand on his face with his fingers trying their best to cover up the spots that made it obvious he was smiling. He leaned away from the group and towards the wall where his body rested. "Tired Diggory?" Arthur questioned Cedric. Cedric answered with a nod and a fake yawn, he closed his eyes to make it seem like he was taking a quick little nap. Then Cedric got the most brilliant idea ever: if he just pretended he lost something when everyone was nearly gone, he could seek you down and ask for your help when they reached Hogwarts. He wished he could give himself a pat on the back for the idea, but he couldn't due to the people around him would be judging him harshly.
"You guys are ridiculous! Fred, I thought you and the others were 'sorry' about making fun of me and Cedric?" You yelled at the group, mostly Fred. It's almost as if the twins forgot that they apologized to you days ago about the events. All of this made you frustrated. "Now I know to not trust you or any of your apologies again." You turned your body away from the group so that your body showed the distaste in the group at the moment. That's what you wanted to do in front of the group for doing what they did, but you didn't. You didn't want to kill the mood, so you just have to sit in silence and accept the fact that your friends are going to keep teasing you about this even though you don't like it at all.
Fred threw his arm around you as he teased you some more along with the others. "Aww, you're so adorable when you pout!" Was what blurted out and you began to become livid and you felt your cheeks and ears becoming warm.
"Knock it off!" You stuttered out of embarrassment and elbowed his side.
"AY!" Fred yelped as he held his side.
An old woman with a cart walked the narrowed aisle of the train. She stopped by every cabin to see if any of the children on the train wanted anything to snack on during the journey to the mystical school. It was very rare for students to not buy anything from the cart. For the case of Cedric, he missed it because he fell asleep while his delusions of you and him were getting the best of him. On the other hand, you with the others purchased a bunch of candies that can be categorized as joke candies with Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, Sound Sweets, and Exploding Bonbons being laid out in front of the laughing misfits.
You took a bean out of a cartridge before you and hoped that whatever color you picked would be one of the ones where the bad choice wouldn't be unpleasant. A yellow bean laid in the palm of your hand and you groaned. There was a chance of it being a pleasant taste of lemon or the ghastly taste of earwax. You took a deep breath in as you prepared yourself for the worse. "C'mon [Last Name]! Hurry up and eat it!" Jośe edged you to quickly eat it.
You shot a glare at him. "Oh, you can have time to prepare, but not me?" You sighed and just threw the candy into your mouth and chewed, you closed your eyes tightly to prepare the punch of flavors. Then a distaste filled your mouth and you immediately opened your eyes at the disgusting candy that was in your mouth.
"Ha! You got earwax!" Nadia laughed at you along with everyone else while you struggled to eat the candy since there was nowhere to spit it out.
In the cabin next door Marcus stared in disgust at the cabin next to them. He was upset that such disruptive teens were seated right next to them. He quickly got up and was about to throw the door open before a tired Cedric stopped him. He woke up a moment ago due to the commotion that Turner was upset about, but Cedric was more upset then the Ravenclaw since his dreams were sadly interrupted. "Wait, let me talk to them. They'll just only be louder if you go to them since they hate you." Cedric yawned and rubbed his eyes tiredly as he got up. Marcus only huffed and rolled his eyes before sitting back down and letting Cedric handle this. Cedric was about to open the door of the cabin of misfits until it was swung open by you.
"I'm going to get some Fudge Flies and more bonbons!" You called back to the group before bumping into Cedric. You didn't even notice his presence, but that could possibly be looking behind you towards the group. "Oh, so sorry Cedric!" You quickly apologized to the Hufflepuff.
"It's fine," he accepted your apology before closing the door of the cabin for you. "So you going to the cart? Let me come with you then, I didn't buy anything when she came by."
"Why is that?"
"I sorta fell asleep, the others aren't much company." Cedric laughed nervously as you two began to walk the aisle.
"Really? I knew being perfect was boring, but I didn’t know it was that boring." You emphasized "that" to exaggerate and seem extra for a good laugh. It seemed to work as Cedric let out another laugh.
"Yeah, there's not much to talk about since it'll just be the usual awkward talk of summer break then silence."
"I would totally let you come and talk with us, but you and I will just be made fun of the whole time." Cedric paused in his tracks for a second with furrowed brows.
"What do you mean?"
"Oh, the twins are set on the fact that you fancy me. Crazy innit?" You laughed before quickly dying down. "Hope this doesn't make our… uh… friendship awkward." Cedric stared at you in surprise as you were so hesitant to even state you two have a friendship. He was a little heartbroken.
"No, not at all. They’re just probably be jerks with how it's obvious that some of your friends don't really like me." Cedric said, giving you a soft smile and you smiled back.
After a second, you two reached the old lady with the cart. "Can I get a box of Fudge Flies and three boxes of Exploding Bonbons?" You asked the lady reaching into your pockets to grab out the money to pay her, but Cedric stopped you.
"Let me pay," he murmurs to you, "I would also like a box of Fudge Flies." He hands the women the money that paid off everything that was ordered then he was handed all of the items which you quickly helped since it looked like he was about ready to drop them. You grabbed the items that you and the other wanted and left the other box of Fudge Flies for Cedric. The two of you began to walk over to your original cabins.
"You really didn't have to pay for me." You spoke up.
"Well, I just wanted to be a good… friend, that's all." He wanted to say something other than friend, but it didn't feel right. He had Cho… he has to remember that he's supposed to be her beloved boyfriend that practically worships the ground she walks on, but there is something about you that Cho could never have.
"Now it feels like I owe you…" You grumbled.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel like that. I swear, you don't owe me anything and I won't bring this up like," he stopped himself before he could continue with his sentence, he wanted to throw some slander towards your friends but the conversation could go good or very much terrible. "Nevermind." You looked at him a little confused, you wanted to question what he was going to say but dropped it since he didn’t want to talk about it.
The two of you reached your respective cabins. "Well, I guess I'll see you some time at Hogwarts." You say.
"Yeah, see you around. Oh! Could you please tell the others to be a tad bit more quiet or else Marcus might pop a blood vessel as he yells at you guys." Cedric asks you to do a minor favor for him.
"Sure, can't promise they'll actually listen to me." You chuckled, "See you around, Cedric." You then enter the cabin and are immediately met with a bunch of your friends teasing you and laughing like hyenas.
"See you around…" Cedric mumbles out as he enters his own cabin.
"Took you awhile, Diggory." Nora said in a scolding tone.
"Yeah, yeah. I just wanted something to eat." Cedric grumbled as he began to eat the candy.
It was starting to get dark out and the sky would've been littered with bright white stars if it weren't for rain clouds filling the sky and began to sprinkle for a bit until it completely started pouring down. Everyone on the train had changed out of their normal clothes to their school uniforms as their time to depart the train was drawing near. It was time for Cedric to execute his plan, but he felt like he was missing something. It took him a second until he realized that the familiar that he had tucked in his shirt throughout the whole train ride was missing. He started to panic really badly. He didn't know what he would do without his little pal. Soon the train was brought to a halt. Each year was taken off the train separately which made it harder for Cedric to go looking for his buddy so had to sit around and wait until his year was called to come off the train, and Merlin only knows how long that will take. He sat in his seat, bouncing his leg up and down rapidly before chewing on his index finger's nail. "Are you alright, Cedric?" Arthur questioned Cedric, noticing his very nervous behavior.
"Oh yeah! Just a little worried about getting wet, that's all!" Cedric lied since he knew he'd be in trouble if they knew about his buddy being lost in a train because he decided to carry him around for some sort of comfort. However, his answer only got an eye roll from the Slytherin and Ravenclaw's prefects, but he could care less.
It felt like ages to Cedric, but it was finally time for his year to get off the train. He immediately dashed to your cabin hoping you were there and you were. He gave a big sigh of relief before urgently telling you he needed your help. "[Name], please help with something and promise not to tell anyone!" He grabbed your shoulders like they were his only lifeline, which in this case they were.
You were a little put off by his very frantic behavior, but pushed it aside since it was obvious he was in dire need of help. "Sure, what is it?" You questioned him calmly and even tried to calm him down.
"Okay… so uh…" Cedric tried to start off his sentence, but it was no use due to him being worried sick and was also in the presence of you. You told him to take a deep breath to calm down and he did before going on to his explanation. "Okay so throughout this whole train ride I had my familiar tucked away in my clothes, and when I changed out of my old clothes into my robes it seemed as though he ran off. He never ran off before!"
"Oh! Dear! We shouldn't be standing around!" You said before exiting out of the cabin quickly into the almost empty. Cedric quickly followed you out. "What am I trying to find anyway? A cat, a toad?" You questioned him as you started to look around.
"Well… uh… he's a niffler." Cedric said timidly as he began looking as well. "He's brown with some black spots, his most notable one is on his back."
"A-a niffler!?" You were shocked to hear his answer, but he quickly shushed you.
"Not so loud!" He whisper-yelled at you. "Look, I know it was stupid to buy a niffler, but eleven year old me never quite understood the concept of consequences of owning pets like that. I swear though, he's usually on his best behavior!" He tried to defend himself a bit for owning such a particular creature.
"Cedric, I don't mean to let your hopes up-"
"Don't say it!"
"But he might be good as gone…" You told him, almost feeling bad to be the one to bring him the sad news. Cedric shook his head though at you, not believing a single word that's coming out of his mouth. Sure he likes you a lot, but his niffler always comes first!
"Not possible, he couldn’t have gone that far!" He said as he started to quicken up his space and even looked at every single place that had anything remotely shiny. You shook your head before starting to help him find his lost niffler again.
After a minute of searching,  you noticed something furry poking out of the crevice of a seat in one of the cabins. "Cedric!" You called out for him and he immediately rushed to you. "I think I found him." His face immediately lit up as he rushed over and began to pull out the creature from within the seat. Sure enough, it was a niffler holding some jewelry, but Cedric could care less at the moment that his niffler was stealing other people's belongings. He started to hug the small thing before scolding it like if were a child and forcing it to drop all the things it stole. You couldn't help but laugh, but still be disappointed at Cedric for owning such a creature.
"Please keep this between you and me, I don't really want him and I to get into any sort of trouble." Cedric than pleads to you, hoping you'll go along with his wishes.
"Of course." You say to his delight, but you had more to say. "You know, you're lucky you're my friend or else I'd report right away just out of spite." You teased and laughed which he joined in as well.
"Thank you for helping me find him and even finding him, I owe you my life." He said in a very soft voice as he began to tuck his friend into his robes. "We should get going, like right now." He said in his regular voice. Both of you totally forgot that you needed to get to the carriages fast because of there being a feast and the fact that it's still pouring outside.
"Yeah!" You said as you and him started rushing out of the train and towards the carriages. By the time you two hopped into one, you both were drenched. "Well, guess there was truly no point in running." You laughed as you looked down at yourself. You looked like a mess in your eyes, but Cedric thought otherwise.
"Yeah, I would totally offer you a robe like that one night at the world cup, but you should already know the reason why I wouldn't." Cedric tried to make a little joke.
"What's next? You're going to offer me to lay my head on your shoulders?" You laughed, he let out a chuckle as well. He felt fine with you and felt like he could be himself.
"Maybe, it wouldn't make a difference really unless you want to be damp," Cedric said before his niffler started crawling out his robes to shake off the water and be a bit more dry. "Archie!" Cedric yells at the niffler trying to make him stop so the two of you wouldn't get more wet.
"Archie? That's what you choose to name it?"
"Hey! Don't shame me, it was either that or Arthur and he seemed to prefer Archie over Arthur!"
"I really can't say anything, I named my cat Brutus."
"Guess we both suck at naming animals then."
The carriage soon made it to Hogwarts and the doors swung open, you both were hesitant to walk out there since the both of you felt that your clothes were beginning to dry, but to both of your dismay you had to get wet again. "How about you go first?" You said as you looked outside.
"How about I try to cover us both with my robe, I don't really care if it gets wet. Before you ask 'are you sure', I'm sure." He said as he began to take off his robe and place it over both of you. Archie soon began to crawl up onto Cedric's shoulders so he wouldn't be left behind.
"Do we just run out on the count of three?" Yoy questions and Cedric nods. "Okay… one… two…three!" You and Cedric both yelled as you began to run out of the carriage and towards the entrance of Hogwarts. The both of you almost tripped over each other quite a few times until you made it to the entrance. "You should put Archie away." You told Cedric as you pointed at the brown creature.
"Where would I even put him? I thought you took care of magical creatures for a living that keeping these guys in cages is impossible." He said as he started to wrap Archie in his robes. "He'll just have to deal with this until we get to my dorm room." He then began to walk inside of the school and you quickly followed him.
After a bunch of twists and turns, the two of you made it to the Great Hall where everyone was seated. It was really awkward for the two of you just to walk in late and sapping wet. "Uh, see you around [Name]." He murmurs to you.
"Yeah, see ya'." You said before the two of you head separate directions to join your house's table. You sat down with your friends while he sat down with his own.
"So what were you and Mr. Perfect doing? Snogging?" George teases as Fred pretends to snig with thin air.
"Shut up you two!" You yell at them and kick both of their legs under the table which causes them to yhelp.
"Who were you with, Ced?" One of Cedric's friends questioned the brunette as he sat down.
"Uh, [Name] [Last Name]." Was all he said as he tried his best to avoid any further questions.
"So you hung out with some Slytherin and not one of us?" Another one if his friend piped up and Cedric didn’t like his choice of words to describe you.
"They aren't-" Cedric yelled at first, but calmed himself down before continuing, "they aren't just some Slytherin,"
"Are you really gonna replace us with them?" With the way that his friends were referring to you was a way that seemed of disgust and Cedric was sick of it, he wanted his friends to have some respect for you. Maybe he might replace them with you, maybe he can also devise a plan to make them purposely get seriously hurt during Quidditch since he thought they deserved it for saying such words about you. At this point, it wasn't even a maybe. He will do it no matter what it takes and he will target your friends next.

Word Count: 907
✯¸.•´¨*•✿ I Love You ✿•*¨`•.¸✯
You're woken up by the sweet scent of freshly made pancakes drenched in syrupy and a touch of butter right on the top, just the way you like it coming your way closer and closer salivating your mouth wet, heavily desiring for those pancakes to fill in your rumbling morning tummy, you slowly open your eyes awake with a smile stay put on your lips only to find your boyfriend Cedric shirtless wearing one of his favorite grey sweatpants resting low on his hips showing off just how well he's taken care of his body. His defined abs that look to be shaped by the Greek Gods themselves and his sharp-cut Adonis belt sticking out caught your eyes right away, leaving them glued down there as he made his way to your side of the bed with a breakfast tray floating itself up in front of him.
"Happy Birthday to you" Cedric begins to sing in a cheerful tone, "Happy birthday to you...Happy birthday dear Y/N... Happy birthday my love" he finished the song, setting the breakfast tray right by the nightstand with his wand leaving you to giggle away at his adorable singing voice. Cedric placed himself on the edge of the bed right by your foot tucking a loose piece of hair behind your messy yet sexy bedhead, "Happy birthday my love, I hope you like your breakfast in bed, mom taught me how to make homemade pancakes the other day so I could surprise you" He explained softly traveling his hand once form your ear down to caressing your cheek, his hands were warm and gentle how could you be so lucky you thought.
You gave him your best, most happiest smile at his efforts before saying "Thank you so much for all this love, you didn't need to do any of this at all... a good morning kiss would have sufficed" you giggle quietly once more, "Now come here and give me my kiss before I dive into those delicious looking pancakes" you demanded and just like that Cedric charming yet toothy smile appears as he scoots closer to your face and leaned in to place his soft silky lips into yours. The kiss was fiery and needy even after 5 month of dating Cedric passion for you has never run our of fuel, he's willing to do anything to make you happy and although the both of you haven't actually announce the L words to each other Cedric feels that he's ready and it's the perfect time to do so.
After what felt like hours Cedric managed to get up from the bed, grab onto your waist, and pick your small frame off the bed and into his arm all without breaking the kiss walking off into another space inside your shared bedroom, finally, he stops walking, he's take you out to the balcony of your shared bedroom. The cold morning air slithers in over the both of you, cooling down the burning and passionate make-out that both of you have been doing for the last 5 minutes. You break the kiss slowly only to find Cedric smiling happily, you haven't seen this smile since you agreed to be his girlfriend or when you agreed to move in with him, it was indeed a special smile, you smile sweetly back at him, as he stares into your eyes getting lost in their beautiful color before he finally said "I love you" you eyes opened wide at his words, and he managed to skip your heartbeat about 3 times faster he said, he finally said it, you couldn't imagine being happier then you are at this moment.
"I love you too Cedric" you blurted before you giggle leaving him to smile and spin your around in his arm, joyful that the both of you have finally reached yet another chapter in your relationship journey, and after a while of giggling and him spinning you around, he lands you down on the balcony making sure you're safe and sound before he reached for his pocket. "I've got a surprise for you princess, you're going to love it... close your eyes" he blurted out before pulling out a red velvet box while you did as you were told to close your eyes. Cedric opened the box gently and take out its content which was an elegant Ruby necklace laced into a gold chain, he close the box and puts it back into his pocket before unclasping the necklace and walking right behind you to put it on.
He placed the necklace gently on your neck and clasp it closed before telling you to slowly open your eyes, you did as you were told giggling in the process only to find a shining red stone sitting on your neck. You've always talked about how you wanted a ruby necklace such as this because it reminds you of your grandmother who possesses the same looking one that she would wear all the time before she passed away not that long ago. You couldn't contain your happiness and even your eyes started to well up with happy tears but you turned around to face him, got up on your tippy toes, and placed your arms behind his neck to pull him down for yet another thank you and passionate a kiss, as he rests both his hand on your waist leaving a great start to your birthday.

YOU WATCHED FROM the stands next to mr diggory as harry potter hovered over a body, the triwzard cup next to it.
you were about to cheer when harry started wailing, "he's back! he's back!"
since you were slightly taller than him, mr diggory had asked you what was going on. you tried to peer over all the standing bodies but to no avail, simpling shrugging to the older man in response.
that was when ernie had shouted, "it's diggory! that's cedric!"
"pardon?" you and mr diggory whipped your heads toward your blonde friend.
"that's cedric body." ernie exclaimed.
without thinking twice, mr diggory had started weaving through the stands, "let me through, let me through. that's my son."
you were hot on his tail, practically shoving your peers to the side to get on the grounds.
"my boy!" mr diggory crouched down next to cedric's unconscious body.
"what's happened? what the fuck happened potter?" you shook harry roughly, wanting an explanation.
"h-he's back. you-know-who's back, he used the crutacius on diggory!" harry sobbed.
you felt your blood grow cold, and you lost your footing. you would have fallen onto the floor if it were not for ernie holding you up.
you watched as the head of houses ushered the students back into the castle.
you watched as harry retold the events of the past hour to headmaster dumbledore.
you watched as cedric was brought away back to hospital wing to be healed.
throughout it all, your chest heaved as your eyes felt deafened. your body was shaking as ernie held you close, comforting you.
without realising, your legs carried you towards the castle entrance and outside the double doors of the hogwarts hospital wing.
mr diggory had apparated home for the night, despite his reluctance.
for student safety, dumbledore had sent anyone who was not staff or a student away from hogwarts grounds.
"are you sure you don't want to return to your dorm?" hannah asked you once more.
you shook your head as a silent 'no'.
"let's just leave for tonight, i'm knackered," justin whispered to hannah and ernie.
"what? have you lost your mind? we can't just leave her alone, she's beyond devastated." hannah whisper scolded justin.
"but it's not like us being here make any difference. she hasn't spoken a single word in the last two hours," justin frowned.
"mate, you're unbeliavable. i can't believe you," ernie shook his head.
"you lot can leave. i'll be fine by myself," you finally spoke up, effectively stopping their small fight.
"y/n, fletchley was just being a dickhead. we would stay here with you all night if we have to." hannah's eyes softened as she shifted her gaze to you.
"it's fine, i'll be fine," you pursed a smile.
"see? she said she's fine," justin started walking away dragging ernie and hannah along with him, "come on then."
"i'm sorry," hannah turned around and mouthed to you before turning the corner of the empty corridor.
you sat by the large windowsill in the corridor and rest your head in your hands as you prayed that cedric would be alright, that he would bounce back as fit as a fiddle.
you felt two figures settle next to you, causing you to pick your head up.
"hey," ernie, who was on your right, placed a hand on your shoulder while hannah, who was on your left, rubbed small circles on your back.
"we had to follow fletchley back just so he'd shut up," hannah explained, "we would never leave you alone."
"oh! here," ernie placed a grey knit cardigan on your lap. you knew it to be cedric's. "thought it might make you feel better."
you picked the cardigan up and slid your arms into it, tugging it closer to your body for warmth.
"thank you," you said gratefully, mustering the best smile your heartbroken and worried self could.
"your welcome lovey. ced will be okay, he's always been a tough arse." hannah joked.
"yea, he is, isn't he," you chuckled lightly.
hannah looped her arm around yours and you leaned your head on ernie's shoulder.
the three of you stayed like that through the night, solemn and hoping that cedric would be alright.
you woke up the next morning with an ache in your neck and a weight in your lap.
you blinked the sleep away and lifted your head up from ernie's shoulder, the bones in your neck cracking as you did. you looked down in your lap to see that hannah had fallen asleep on it.
ernie was still asleep as well, the back of his head leaning against the window behind you.
it was clear that neither of them were in a comfortable sleeping position and that they would've preferred spending the night in their plush beds. however, they had chose to accompany and comfort you through the night.
you were beyind grateful you had the friends you had.
ernie and hannah soon stirred awake when the doors of the hospital wing opened, mdm pomfrey and a healer dressed in st mungo's uniform walked out.
"is he alright? cedric, i mean," you asked politely.
"mr diggory's alive. he is no longer under critical condition, but is under induced sleep from the calming draught that was administered."
"yes, of course."
"i must make haste to see dumbledore and inform him of mr diggory's condition, you may visit if you wish," madam pomfrey gestured to the slight crack in the hospital ring door.
the three of you nodded, signalling a small goodbye to the two healers.
"we're going to return to our dorms, we'll come back after breakfast?" ernie suggested.
"yea, i'll see you two later," you agreed.
the creak of the hospital wing door opening echoed through the room.
you pattered into stone-walled room over to the cot cedric was lying in.
you frowned as you watched cedric—your cedric—laying lifelessly. you urged the will to cry again and sucked in a deep breath, sitting on the wooden chair that was next to the cot.
"oh ced," you sighed, hands trembling as you brushed the back of your knuckles against his pale, cold, face.
you pulled the woolen blanket further up cedric's torso in hopes of helping him conserve some warmth.
you were sat on the uncomfortable chair for about an hour when ernie, justin, and hannah walked in.
"has he woken up since?" hannah asked and you shook your head.
the four of you conversed in small talk when you heard the rustling of sheets behind you.
you whipped your head towards cedric and watched as his eyelids slowly fluttered open.
he tried to sit up and ernie was immediately there to help cedric up.
your poured cedric a cup of water and held the bendy straw to his lips.
"are you feeling alright?" hannah placed a comforting hand on cedric's shoulder.
you placed the cup on the small table by the cot.
"nothing hurts so i'm feeling rather well," cedric cleared his throat, his voice scratchy.
"is it true? that you-know-who's back?" justin blurted out.
you winced slightly at the bluntness of the question while ernie and hannah sent him death glares for his lack of sensitivity.
cedric licked his lips and nodded.
justin was about to open his mouth to ask yet another absurd question when ernie thankfully cut him off.
"you scared us to death mate, but we're glad you're alright. our poor y/n's been worried sick the whole night," ernie gestured to you.
suddenly all eyes in the room were pointed at you and you sniffed, wiping the fallen tear that had excaped your eye with your palm.
you sniffed with a chuckle as to try and shake off the uneasiness of being the current center of attention.
"y/n..." cedric's eyes softened at your state.
ernie and hannah shared a look with a mutual understanding that it was their cue to leave, dragging justin along with them.
"lovey," cedric reached out to grab ahold one of your fidgeting hands.
"i don't even know why i'm crying. it's so selfish considering what you had to go through to end up here but i'm just relieved you're okay," you whimpered.
with his free hand cedric's callous but gentle touch wiped by your damp lash line.
"it's not selfish lovey, it's okay to feel worried. i'm all good now so you no more tears, okay?"
"okay," you nuzzled your cheek into cedric's hand, sighing softly.
"besides, madam pomfrey said all the bleeding was internal. that's where all the blood's supposed to be!" cedric had mischievous glint in his eyes, trying to lighten your dampened mood.
you could scoff at the boy's words, shaking your head with a small giggle you rebuttled, "you are so silly sometimes."
you lurched over to cedric so you were slightly hovering above him.
"i love you," you whispered, almost afraid that if you spoke too loud it would break the serenity of the hospital wing.
"i love you too," cedric whispered back with a kiss on your lips.
following the days of cedric's recovery, him and harry potter had explained to dumbledore in great detail what exactly happened in the maze during the third task.
it seemed as though not many people believed what they had to say, claiming that cedric and harry were just trying to claim their five seconds of fame.
but you trusted cedric and what he had to say, because your golden boy could never do such a thing like lie to officials.
it seemed that the incident with he-who-shall-not-be-named had caused a slight shift in cedric.
as much as cedric tried to put him a hardfront and false facade that he was just as fine as before, you knew that he was just trying not to make anyone worry about him.
you noticed how he was more jumpy than before. he was also more alert and wary of surroundings, almost as if preparing himself for an attack at all times.
not wanting to add more stress on the already heavy weight on his shoulders, you pretended not to know.
your NEWTS happened just months after the last task. thankfully, cedric did not let the trauma of the duel in little hangleton affect his marks.
both of you had done splendidly for them, not that it mattered anymore.
before, you had wished to work at the ministry of magic, but after they had discredited cedric for claiming voldemort's return, you quickly changed your mind.
you and cedric both wanted out of the wizarding world, having enough of everything that had happened during your last year in hogwarts.
instead, with the little money you had saved, you had opened a quaint bakery in muggle watford.
your business was doing rather well. something about magically baked pastires attracted muggles back to your shop regularly, not that your customers needed to know that.
life was peaceful and you and cedric were happy.
save the occasional nightmares cedric would need waking up from.
it took a year or two for your boyfriend to open up to you about the trauma he was experiencing.
"i'm scared. i'm beyond terrified that he's going to come back one day and finish what he couldn't that day," cedric admitted with sweaty palms and a heaving chest.
“lovey,” you cooed, running your hands through his hair then settling them on his cheeks.
“it stinks. it fucking stinks. because i want to be happy, i want to live a life where i’m not in fear every waking second,” cedric looked up at the ceiling and blinked quickly to rid the tears that were about to fall.
“i’m sorry that i will never truly understand what you had to go through and what you feel because of it, and i’m sorry that you, of all people, were a victim. i would take all the weight of your shoulders and carry them for you no hesitation. but i can’t do that. what i can do, however, i’d be here for you in every way possible. i can’t say that it’d be easy, but talking about your fears alleviates them.” you sucked in a breath and shifted your position in bed, sitting on the back of your calves so you could look right into cedric’s face.
“i love you so much ced and you’re such a courageous and strong man. the man i love with all my heart and soul. so when you’re ready, i’ll be here for you.” you tried a small smile.
silence filled the room for a while.
cedric said nothing but offered a small, albeit grateful, smile and that was enough for you to know that he was feeling a little bit better.
the birth of curtis edward diggory caused something to shift in cedric, in the best way possible.
since his son’s birth, cedric smiles a little bit brighter and the creases in his eyes were a little bit deeper.
curtis was your little bundle of joy and when your baby boy turned one, it felt like all the worries in yours and cedric’s life dissipated.
“hi little lovey, who’s my baby boy?” you cooed while bouncing curtis in your hip. he had yet to show any signs of magical capabilities but you knew it was soon come.
you were currently watching cedric who had just put in a tray of unbaked lemon biscuits.
“your little baker”, you thought, as cedric wiped his buttery hands on his apron and wiped the side of his cheek, leaving a dusty swab of flour in its wake.
“that’s the last for the sunday pickup order,” cedric walked over to your and curtis, placing kisses on the crown of both of your heads.
you basked in cedric’s embrace, your head on his chest while curtis was on yours.
you were in complete bliss.
the comforting atmosphere was broken when the flaps of an owl’s wings sounded through the kitchens.
cedric pulled away from you reluctantly with a confused glance to the window.
there, on the windowsill, perched an owl that looked awfully familiar.
the weasley family’s owl dropped the letter in cedric’s hands before flying off to deliver the other letters that filled it’s beak.
knowing that you and cedric wanted to separate your muggle lives from your magical ones as much as possible, bar the occasional visits from those closest to you, communication between family and friends were limited, letters included.
cedric’s eyes scanned the letter, the worry on his face growing as he read.
“p-potter…” cedric stuttered, “potter’s fighting voldemort, tonight, at hogwarts.”
your eyes widened in shock, “w-what?”
you and cedric decided to close up the shop early that day, returning home in a hurry.
curtis was napping with his cheek against your shoulder as you watched cedric pace the small area of your sitting room for what felt like a full hour.
cedric chewed on the back of his thumb, his furrowed brows in a deep frown.
“i have to go,” cedric said, almost as if it was the most obvious thing.
you quickly shot that idea down, “no, lovey, it’s not safe.”
“i have to. potter saved my life that day at the cemetery. the least i could do is fight by his side tonight.” cedric remained firm.
tears welled in your eyes and you hiccuped from the gut-wrenching sobs that were bubbling from inside you.
"darling..." cedric was on his knees in front of you, stroking your hair as you sat on the sofa trying your best not to wake curtis with your beating heartbeat and shaky voice.
"i-i know it's selfish, but i get to be selfish. i don't want you t-to g-go. i c-can't lose you, not again."
"i have to do this, you know that." cedric affirmed.
you nodded your head in understanding. you knew that since the triwizard tournament, cedric had always felt indebted to potter, that he owed his life to the young boy, but you deserved the right to beg your husband to stay, no matter how selfish it was.
"you won't lose me, neither of you won't. i promise." cedric held your face with both hands.
you watched with deafened ears as cedric changed into a more ‘battle appropriate’ outfit.
the bottom dresser was opened for the first time in a while, and cedric picked up his wand.
“i’ll always love the both of you, you know that right?” cedric began his teary goodbye.
you couldn't find it in you to respond. merely nodding your head and sniffing at his rhetorical question.
cedric placed a kiss on curtis’ chubby cheeks before placing him back in your arms.
“i love you, lovey,” you mumbled against his lips, fisting cedric’s shirt.
“i love you,” cedric chased a kiss, pulling away only to wrap his arm around you shoulders, his hand holding the back of your head endearingly.
with a small wave, and blow kiss from you and curtis, cedric disapparited.
the only way you could keep your anxiousness at bay was to keep yourself busy and so you rushed around the house, cleaning and wiping down every surface.
you played with curtis for a bit, then cooked dinner for the both of you. you eventually fell asleep on the sofa, curtis laying on your torso.
you awoke the next day to knocking on your front door. you placed curtis in the small crib in the living room and stalked to open the door.
the moment you saw the solemn look on the two ministry officials that were standing in the corridor, your stomach dropped.

you had finally signed a franchise deal with a major corporation to expand your small bakery to open more locations around london.
that meant you could afford to move out your rental.
it was difficult to live in a home you had started with the person you thought you would have spent the rest of your life with.
waking up to a cold and empty bed was miserable and yet you felt guilty for moving.
moving away felt like you were leaving cedric.
you heaved a sigh and shook yourself out of your thoughts as you placed the paper-wrapped plates into the large moving carton.
you heard rustling and the barreling of feet on the parquet flooring.
you turned on your feet, ready to greet curtis with open arms but as you did, you were met with your brunette boy clad in a familiar knitted grey cardigan, a unicorn hair, ash, wand in his hand.
your breath hitched as you dropped the plate you were holding in your hand.
curtis immediately flinched as the ceramic shattered into a millio pieces over the kitchen floor.
“shit,” you murmured under your breath as you bent down quickly to pick the pieces up in your hands, “curtis, stay in the front room okay? let mummy clean up.”
you swept away the remains of the dish and vacuumed the area for good measure, less curtis cut himself accidentally.
when you walked into the front room to see curtis sitting down on the sofa, his legs dangling off it since he was too short to reach the floor, while inspecting cedric’s old wand.
when the ministry had visited you the day after the battle, they had returned cedric’s wand to you.
after the battle, you swore off the wizarding world bar the biweekly visits to cedric’s parents’ place. you weren’t sure what you would do when curtis would start showing his magical abilities but for now, you wanted him safe and away from the world that took your world away from you.
“curtis? where’d you find all this?” you sucked in a breath and balanced yourself by gripping the arm of the armchair and settling shakily into it.
curtis looked so much like his father, and now clad in cedric’s cardigan, it felt like deja vu.
“you told me to help back the things in your room and i found them in a box under your bed,” curtis explained.
noting your expressionless face, curtis hopped off the sofa and treaded lightly towards you.
“are you mad at me?” he asked with his adorable doe eyes staring up at you.
“n-no, no, lovey, i’m not mad. it’s just, those things were daddy’s a-and you remind me so much of him,” you swiped your cheek with your palm.
living in this house was big enough of a reminded of cedric’s passing, and so after his burial, you packed everything that reminded you of cedric in a box, never to see the light of day again because you knew just one look would cause all the effort you had put in to try and move on to crumble.
but somehow seeing curtis jn cedric’s cardigan, which was overtly big on the little boy, it didn’t bring up any miserable or longing feelings for your deceased husband. instead the feeling of curtis being able to have some form of physical connection to his father made you feel warm inside.
“really? this cardigan’s daddy’s?”
you nodded along and stroked curtis’ hair, “it is, and you look so handsome in it, just like daddy.”
curtis beamed at your statement and pulled the cardigan, which was so big on him that the hem of it dragged along the floor, closed to his body.
“can i keep it?” curtis asked hopefully.
“of course you can, little lovey,” you offered a small but loving smile.
