Catholic Steve keeps three things on him at all times: his crucifix necklace, his baby-blue bible, his unwavering faith in God above.
He wants to be good, wants to be obedient, wants more than anything to be pure.
He prays every night next to his bed, bare knees on the floor, hands clasped, looking at the crucifix above his bed and biting his lip so hard he tastes blood. He begs every night for God to help him be better. To take away how envious he gets, how competitive, how vain he is, the pride he takes in his looks, the way he falls victim to false idols. And more than anything, he asks God to take away all the impure thoughts he has about men.
Miguel O'Hara being of Mexican and Irish descent is, like, yeah, of COURSE he became a control freak who is projecting his issues onto everyone else because he isn't able to forgive himself for a mistake he made and the regret is eating him alive. Catholic Guilt is like that.
JOKE-OGRAPHY:
1. Emo Emi is a snarky teen who enjoys being edgy and showing her parents just how silly their Christian faith is. Unfortunately, she lacks enough philosophical depth to engage in theological debate. As such, her attacks are the strawest of men, but her dear mother puts up with them out of love.
2. The chosen verses are not nearly the edgiest quotes the Bible has to offer.
3. Emi asks her mother if these verses have challenged her faith, as if an out-of-context Bible quote is all it would take to shake someone to their foundation. Her mother says the verses are nothing compared to the constant spiritual battle she wages simply by being the mother of a teen.
Can you imagine the shame Catholic Steve feels after a night with Eddie. Then he remembers how good Eddie was and how he made him feel and he’s just like ugh 🫦🤦♀️
Catholic Steve who goes to mass and tries to focus on the sermon and what the priest is saying but every time he moves even a little he can feel the rope burns and belt marks that Eddie left on him the night before ✨️
🕊️ 1 Cor. 6:18 “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.”
I started an Instagram account for Catholic (any Christian can follow though) women who feel like they need a safe space to talk about their spiritual battles. This is the first post I made on there! @_doe_ofthedawn_
