Why Catherine Needed Rin
I know a lot of people criticize Full Body for things like its transphobia and the inclusion of Rin. While I do agree that Rin could've been written better in terms of the story, I am not at all mad at the inclusion of Rin and her different personality at all. In a game where everything and everyone is constantly traumatizing and treating the main character like he's the devil, it's nice to have a character that sees past his flaws and anxiety for the caring person he truly is. And that at the end of the day, despite his mistakes, he's just a sad, anxious, traumatized dude who needs a hug and a real friend. Their relationship is honestly really sweet, which made me feel really disappointed that Atlus couldn't include her for the whole Classic route. I mean, imagine Rin comforting Vincent after his breakup and getting beaten by Catherine. She could've been the one to save him from the beating!
Rin is truly the breath of fresh air the game needed. She's such a pure-hearted character that she becomes the only person who Vincent truly feels happy around. We don't see him stutter, yell at, or overall feel uncomfortable around Rin. She is the only person who never yells at or criticizes Vincent. She lets him be himself, even if it may not fit with what other people expect for someone of his gender and age. Vincent does lash out once but it was very minor, he had a lot on his mind, and he apologized afterward.
Rin, in my opinion, made Catherine a slightly better experience. One of the reasons I didn't like Catherine was because everyone in the game is kinda shitty and I especially didn't like all the pressure everyone put on the main character, who was going through a tough time and like me, has trouble making decisions and is possibly autistic.
Everyone else is just horribly written because of how surface-level they feel. They all are selfish and/or whiny jackasses with no rhyme or reason, no self-awareness, and no character development. Vincent is definitely the most complex character in the cast because while he is a selfish, whiny jackass, he has his reasons (his struggle with his toxic relationships and being forced upon while drunk) and he grows as a person. And he's often aware and guilty of how selfish he's being. They try to develop Orlando, but was also implied to already have been a jackass in the past and he brought the emotional damage onto himself by hurting his lover with his bad decision-making, so no sympathy for him there. Also, please be more considerate of your best friend who is going through an extremely horrible life crisis. Erica is definitely bitter and cynical because of the treatment she gets from her friends, but she's also very self-righteous herself and likes to force her own biased morals and feelings onto other people. It also doesn't make sense at all why she would not tell Toby about her gender when the game now takes place in 2019 where there should be less stigma against trans people. Toby is just... a stupid selfish whiny brat. Like dude, you're close to my age and yes I can be whiny and selfish, but not to that extent. Grow up, man. Katherine is just so stupid to me. I know she's trying to be the logical one, but she's just so stupid in her determination to get her lover who she's clearly unhappy with to marry and have a family with her, not understanding that logically, Vincent is not fit for serious relationships let alone with her and she makes no attempts at fixing their relationship. She tends to be unnecessarily nitpicky and bossy toward Vincent even for little things like not getting out of bed while she's SITTING ON HIM. And the Boss is just... a classic power hungry self-righteous dictator, just on a fantasy level. He's the villain so whatever, I guess.
Vincent did not deserve either atherine in the original game because neither were good to him. I theorize that maybe the loved ones he has are in some way responsible for the mess he became. Because I can't imagine having such a toxic community like that around and being acting like my normal nice self to them. I would act a lot worse than Vincent ever has (cheating aside). I think he's way too forgiving how he still keeps these fake ass "friends" around that constantly tells him how much he sucks because he can't make decisions and runs away from conflict and act like Katherine is an angel who Vincent should stick with despite their obvious communication issues. Yes, Vincent has flaws, but I would not want to be around someone who's constantly treating me like I'm the worst person ever and pressuring me to make decisions faster.
If you think Vincent is an evil person or that he deserves everything he gets, shut up and have these pictures of Rin and Vincent being sweet together.

For your Catherine x TWST crossover. Azul is Katherine and Idia is Vincent. So is Lilia, Catherine?
YES! You nailed it! I even have a sketch with them, I just haven’t posted it lol It is a redraw of that scene where Vincent wakes up with Catherine for the first time.
Tumblr media
It took us a little bit of time to figure out who’s going to be Catherine, but when we finally did... Isn’t it hilarious how perfectly they fit their roles? This series of sketches has started when Katsu joked about Azul being similar to Katherine (mostly because of the design details though lol), and the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. Of course he would ask Idia questions about his job and getting paid for his extra hours and all this stuff and drop not-so-subtle hints that he wants them to get married and start a family: even when he is supposed to play a more of a passive role, Azul would still be the boss in the relationships, and Idia-Vincent would be completely at his mercy, unable to refuse him and dealing with this issue by just sorta avoiding him. And of course, Idia’s “alternative option” would be Lilia, who is fun and easy to talk to and whom he would have a good chemistry with, but also? Quite a menace himself and as pushy as Azul, but in a different direction. Imagine the pictures Lilia would send Idia, accidentally distracting him from nagging messages from Azul.
I also find the idea of Azul and Lilia getting girlfriend “roles” but still being tops amusing and I honestly love it, but that’s just my personal thing lol
Sorry, I got carried away. For some reason, once I start thinking about this crossover, I can’t stop talking… and I don’t even remember much about the game, the characters’ relationships are just fun to think about.

Pride and Prejudice
Classic and loose adaptions from 1940, 1967, 1980, 1995, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2012, 2016, 2018, 2019
The second of Jane Austen’s novels, first published in 1813, is the most often adapted, inspiring various different takes on it. The ones pictures above are detailed below:
Pride and Prejudice (1940 Film)
This black and white film departs from the original novel in some (or should I say many?) points
Written by Aldous Huxley and Jane Murfin, adapted from the stage adaptation by Helen Jerome; directed by Robert Z. Leonard
Starring Greer Garson as Elizabeth Bennet, Laurence Olivier as Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, Edward Ashley Cooper as George Wickham, Maureen O'Sullivan as Jane Bennet, Bruce Lester as Mr. Charles Bingley, Ann Rutherford as Lydia Bennet, Melville Cooper as Mr. William Collins, among others.

Starring Ashley Clements as Elizabeth Bennet, Daniel Vincent Gordh as William Darcy, Wes Aderhold as George Wickham, Laura Spencer as Jane Bennet, Christopher Sean as Bing Lee, Mary Kate Wiles as Lydia Bennet, Julia Cho as Charlotte Lu, Maxwell Glick as Ricky Collins, among others.
Lizzie’s videos amount to 100 episodes + 10 Q&A, but shorter series enrich the story by offering other characters’ perspectives, most notably Lydia’s (and also Georgiana’s). A playlist at Pemberley Digital’s Youtube channel features them all in order.
The series has also been adapted into a book, The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet (2014), and spawned a sequel novel, The Epic Adventures of Lydia Bennet (2015).
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016 Film)
Loose adaption inspired by the 2009 novel of the same name by Seth Grahame-Smith, which adds zombies to Austen’s original story. The movie makes alterations from the zombie book as well.
Written and directed by Burr Steers
Starring Lily James as Elizabeth Bennet, Sam Riley as Colonel Fitzwilliam Darcy, Jack Huston as George Wickham, Bella Heathcote as Jane Bennet, Douglas Booth as Mr. Charles Bingley, Ellie Bamber as Lydia Bennet, Matt Smith as Parson William Collins, among others.
Orgulho e Paixão (Pride and Passion) (2018 Telenovela)
Brazilian telenovela in Brazilian-Portuguese
162 episodes x 30-40min (original version) Loose adaption set in 1910s São Paulo state, Brazil

The story takes inspiration from all 6 of Austen’s major novels (plus Lady Susan), but mostly from Pride and Prejudice. Others stars include Chandelly Braz as Mariana Benedito (Marianne Dashwood) and Anajú Dorigon as Cecília Benedito (Catherine Morland).
Features 100 episodes in the International cut. The telenovela has been broadcast in other countries and languages (such as Spanish) but as far as I know, not in English.
Pride and Prejudice: Atlanta (2019 TV Film)
Loose adaption set in modern Atlanta, USA. All-black cast. Written by Tracy McMillan, directed by Rhonda Baraka
Starring Tiffany Hines as Elizabeth Bennet, Juan Antonio as Will Darcy, Raney Branch as Jane Bennet, Brad James as Charles Bingley, Reginae Carter as Lydia Bennet, Carl Anthony Payne as Rev. Collins, among others.
*****
Personal favorites: 2005, then 1995. But also: The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, Orgulho e Paixão
I also enjoyed Atlanta and, while it’s been a while since I’ve seen Bride and Prejudice, it’s got Indian musical numbers so c’mon, one gotta watch it.
Back to the closer adaptions, despite its age, 1980 is also good! 1940 is...very different, but fun in its own way.
In fact, while I find some of these versions weaker, I could find enjoyment in all of them - but maybe that’s cause I’m a sucker for P&P.

almost anyone who was anyone in the 80s/gen x young actors cohort auditioned for the outsiders. part of the process was that everyone who auditioned went through every role available before the final casting, often acting with each other to figure out who would eventually be cast.
some of those faces: anthony michael hall, darren dalton (who wound up playing randy adderson in the movie), adam baldwin, tom cruise (reading for soda) with c thomas howell (who was cast as ponyboy), helen slater, glen scarpelli (reading for ponyboy), kate capshaw, julie probst, catherine stewart, and vincent spano (reading for darry. he would snag a role as steve in rumble fish)

Here are two questions to make you think ( I know, thinking sucks/hj ):
Can you list your most favorite/likeable Clone High ships? (if you can, from the most favorite to the least favorite)
Andddd!
You can list your most hated/hateable Clone High ships? (from most hated to least hated )
And if you could give a brief explanation or/and a rating from 1 to 10
Questions asked for...plot reasons/j
I hope I'm not bothering you!
Have a great week 😇
Hello!! THANK YOUU for asking! and yes, i am Julius Caesar (real) and I am thinking thinking so hard rn!!! This is pretty lengthy post!
I don't really have any ships I dislike, so
heres some ships I ranked from fav to least fav and how I personally prefer them!

Julius + Jesús (romantic, platonic)
Vincent + Julius (romantic, platonic)
Jesús + Vincent (romantic, platonic)

Additionally, and unrelated to my ranking, heres some ratings and reviews haha
Julius + Jesús 9/10
I LOVE THESE TWO like they make me laugh sm I like to think they're childhood bestfriends, and y'know. Sometimes you just gotta kiss the homies 😎
Julius + Vincent 8/10
These two are nice too, it's mainly a comfort ship cause of me self projecting lol 😭
Jesús + Vincent 8/10
Almost the same exact opinion I have with the last one!
Frida + Cleo 9/10
OH MY GOD THAT ONE S3 EP LEFT ME HEART BROKEN, but! I am very very much glad they're on atleast good terms
Joan + Harriet 8/10
They're cute honestly, I liked the cheerleading episode a lot. and despite conflicts they have they seem to find a way to relate to eachother
Joan + Abe 8/10
OKAYY OKAY I KNOWW... this ship gets a lot of hate, and for an understandable reason , honestly. I don't blame anyone for not liking it but I personally don't mind it that much, they have their cute moments over all I do agree the writing could be better
Joan + Confucius 7/10
I was honestly hesitant with them at first when I saw the s3 trailer, but they grew on me!! They were cute. I personally think the dynamic worked pretty well too
Abe + JFK 7/10
They're alright, scenes with them are funny and I love that they ended up as buddies
Confucius + Harriet 6/10
Though there are some issues with their relationship, I found them pretty cute in s2 but I lost interest quick
Abe + Frida 10/10
CUTEST!! THEY'RE LIKE SIBLINGS TO ME!!!
Joan + JFK 6/10
I get how people can say there's not really much chemisty with them, they can be cute but I feel like I like them better off as pals now after what happened in s2
Catherine + Julius 7/10
They're like more seen together in s1?? Regardless if they were ever a couple or not, I like to think they separated on good terms/are friends!
Joan + Cleo 6/10
They're alright, I like the ship art, and I liked them getting along from time to time
Confucius + JFK 7/10
I'm kinda sad they didn't get much screentime together in s3 unlike in s2, but they're nice they were funny
anyways this all doesn't matter, the best clone high ship has been and will always be julius x a new haircut/j
for other ships, that I didn't explain or mention, they're also cool as long as its not weird LMFAO ship whoever you want and ty again!! 😁👍

@uncleasriel said in response to this post, this is way too long for me to reblog again with even longer comments on it:
I was so annoyed that this was the choice for the series second episode. The Lawless Punk Wasteland of New York was a major subject of media fascination, to be sure. To go from Catherine's violent crime to a broader examination of violent crime overall seems like a natural direction to take the series. So why does this feel so bad?
I think it's the way the episode's inciting crime is portrayed - Young Kids Bullying Elderly Folks Because They Have No Morals - feels weird given 2020's sensibilities. it's hard to imagine young folks acting this badly without some justification or provocation. (This is definitely a relic of the 1980s where Inner City Urban Decay was as palpable as Terrorism or Fentanyl Crisis is today). Still, it feels uncomfortable to then see that the vigilante's solution to the hoodlums is to slit them up with claws seems excessive. I get that retributive violence was a common vibe for media of the 80s, but I feel that kicking the crap out of these kids would be sufficient - no need to murder them, except to start the episode with High Stakes.
Jace is such a disappointing character, because ethically he seems like the kind of character in the post George Floyd world we'd celebrate - a black man with a focus on community building, physical fitness, and a desire to help the people around him be able to deal with the problems in their community without having to turn to cumbersome institutions. But Catherine - a monied young woman who went from corporate lawyering to working for the District Attourney to "make a difference" - embodies more faith in the intitution of law and policing than a 2024 audience is willing to grant.
Especially when said attourney is a wealthy white woman at odds with a working class black man!
But Catherine's role as an investigator District Attorney still makes her entrenched in a system unwilling and unable to address the issues safely and effectively. It's quite disgusting here - the black man is using tough-on-crime rhetoric to argue copaganda points about how 'the laws are too lax' while also arguing that murderous vigilantism is the preferred response. Catherine's 'the system works' rhetoric feels very liberal - trust in the Powers That Be, even though we've seen them clearly fail her in the previous episode.
The nihilism of the 'color of our hats' almost seems palatable by comparison - at least there's an admission that the reality is broken, and those with a vested interest in their "team's" well-being will respond well towards their respective community. It's ugly but honest, which is more than Catherine's mealy-mouthed faith in a system that' obviously not working.
It's a cynicism which is at odds with the show's romantic aspirations, however. Vincent's world underground is free of these kinds of evil, and the already strong hints of a close-knit communitarian society in the tunnels would be at odds with such a cynical take. It seems there is a possibility for healthy communites with good information networks to get the word out about malefactors quickly - alas, they are a fantasy underground never-never land world! Definitely nothing the wicked bad surface world could hope to know abut or understand.
This show had won me over me in the pilot, with it's obvious sympathies towards the victims of violence. The suggestion that the Tunnel world was a place free of these evils due to a loving community was intriguing, and Catherine's brush with it forces her to reconsider her life, and use the healing she found there to propel her into helping others in her world. But already pivoting to such a loaded (and racialized) plot, with such aggressively falsely dichitomous take on the solution to the problem of violent crime... I really wish George r.r Martin chose some other plot for ep2!
____
this comment is from Febrauary and I only just noticed it now by chance, probably because as the tags say it was written at 2AM lol.
Anyways. My laptop wants to overheat so
First of all this part
Young Kids Bullying Elderly Folks Because They Have No Morals - feels weird given 2020's sensibilities. it's hard to imagine young folks acting this badly without some justification or provocation.
There was very clear reasoning behind the assault on Mrs. Dalby: She's a poor Black woman, and the people who attacked her were racist white people and looking to cause problems and knew they could get away with assaulting a poor Black woman because no one would bother protecting her.
I would not in any sense of the word describe them as 'young kids'. Just because they're white, and because Catherine refers to them as such, doesn't mean they're kids.
They're not bullying her for no reason, it's because they're racist and she's defenseless. She's on a run down filthy train by herself at night just trying to get home. They assault her and try to rob her because they know no one is going to protect her. The only other person who was in the train car already left, leaving her completely at their mercy.
the black man is using tough-on-crime rhetoric to argue copaganda points about how 'the laws are too lax'
That is absolutely not what is happening. He is talking about the systemic injustice that allows privileged people, like white men, to get away with violent crimes against minorities without any consequences, and how the law fails to actually protect the people who are the most vulnerable.
This episode is bad because it's hypocritical and racist. It's okay for Vincent to go around mauling people to protect Catherine, a white woman, but when a Black man does it to protect people who don't have the privilege of being absurdly rich with all the best lawyers and doctors money can buy, including Black women who are getting beaten on the ground and white girls who are about to become the victims of rape, and then suddenly it's bad.
Because it's a Black man using violence to protect the most vulnerable people in his community instead of Vincent, the lion man who only ever seem to protect Catherine, the rich white woman whose father is a powerful lawyer, who has no qualms about casually ripping a hundred dollar bill in half. Which she was casually just carrying around with her without apparently intending to buy anything.
It's a bad episode because it sets a blatant double standard that says using violence to defend people is only okay if you're doing it to protect rich white women.
K. Laptop is throwing a fit so bye
