Beto and Biden-Head 2020,  New Cartoon
The Democrats could be considering a fresh face for the 2020 presidential run. Joe Biden is not that fresh face. If elected, he would be 78 years old, by far the oldest president to take office. However, he did top an Iowa poll of possible Democratic presidential candidates. Beto O’ Rourke, who lost to Ted Cruz in their Texas Senate race, also did well in the poll. I’ve already been seeing rumblings of a Biden/Beto ticket. T-shirts have already been printed.
Creepy Uncle Joe is well known for groping and smooching on young girls. Paul Joseph Watson has a compilation here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQ-YjGmpO4Q
Beto O’Rourke, is well known for espousing socialist policies and spending over 70 million to lose a Senate race.
If these two team up for a presidential run, there won’t be a shortage of cartoon ideas.

After a week off, Gorrell actually draws Beto O'rourke(but still decides he needs to be labeled) instead of using a generic donkey. Varvel, Lester, and Payne already did cartoons making the same stupid claim that Beto wants to take all the guns when he actually said
“hell yes we’re going to take your AR-15″
and what part of AR-15 means “all guns”?

Would you be willing to elaborate on how you feel ATLA was hurt by the need for morals?
I’m gonna copy paste a bit from something I wrote somewhere else a while back:
Watching Avatar TLA years after everyone else and after much oF the "ATLA is so good I'm calling it anime and you can't stop me!" fervor died down, I gotta say it still feels very Western cartoon, in both its highs and lows.
There's a typically American framing thing in particular that stood out to me as not very "anime" - a lot of the episodes are didactic in nature. Our heroes have a looming life or death deadline ahead of them, yet keep finding themselves in situations where they must learn valuable lessons about something or other. Some of those lesson episodes are good and lend to some great character building (I'd say most Toph-centric episodes fall into this). Other times I felt very aware of the finger-wagging aesop forced upon me - for example, Sokka starts off an episode stating "we NEED to get hustling to fight the Fire Lord because the deadline is in like 2 months, we literally cannot waste a single second, every extraneous moment put into not completing this journey is another moment of the Fire Lord committing war crimes."
And then the episode has Katara purposefully sabotage their trip so she can help some random fire villagers being polluted by Factory Corporation Polluters, LLC and teach them a valuable lesson about taking care of themselves and trusting people who are different or something. Again, they have a clear deadline and they know that every day the Avatar is not fighting the Fire Lord means another day of more casualties, but this fact is not treated with that kind of weight. It’s almost treated like a joke, as something to lampshade.
Another example is Aang infiltrating a fire school, allowing us to have a Very Special Episode about the importance of having artistic outlets, and it was SO painfully American. Aang has to teach the fire children to loosen up a little. To dance. I think he said almost verbatim "What? If you don't dance, how do you guys express your creativity????"
And the fire kids are like crea-wha. what's that word. never heard of it. we don't do that here.
The emphasis on making sure your audience learns something at the end of your story, whether it's not to pollute, believe in yourself, be creative, forgive people, don't forgive people, whatever, it just has a bad tendency of neutering your story because you're now prioritizing moralizing and that's likely to come at the expense of telling a story, because now you’ve at least somewhat bought into that coming across as morally righteous is at least equal to, if not more, important than the writing itself.
I also think pushing this type of framing isn't good for writers in general - remember Beto O'Rourke getting blasted because he wrote a story in which the narrator kills children and thinks it brings him happiness? The popular didactic, aseopic, lessons-must-be-learned mindset regarding media had a LOT of people insisting (among other things) that no one would write this kind of story unless they wanted to impart the idea that killing children is good and will bring you happiness. That's the only reason one would write something awful and cruel and evil and I think it should be obvious why I find that kind of thinking creatively stifling.
I'm rambling now, but my point is just that ATLA is a good show, but there were FAR too many moments that felt like the writers went from telling me a story of an immature child running away from his fears and insecurities growing into the person that will save the world to *skrrrrrrt* DID YOU KNOW THAT SEXISM IS WRONG? THAT LYING IS WRONG? THAT YOU SHOULD RESPECT A PERSON'S PRIVACY? THAT YOU SHOULD BELIEVE IN THINGS WITH EVIDENCE NOT WOO KINDA SORTA ACTUALLY WE DIDN'T REALLY THINK THE MAGIC VS SCIENCE THING OUT VERY WELL. PROBABLY SHOULDN'T HAVE MADE THIS ONE OF SOKKA'S CHARACTER TRAITS. SORRY.

Pilgrim
In the middle of this Great Texas Freeze, their Governor got on TV and pointed the finger at f*cking windmills for their loss of heat, even though it only accounts for ten percent of their power. Even though, with some of the windmills frozen due to a shortsighted (cheap) GOP legislature, still overproduced power during this trying time. Their Senior Senator abandoned his constitutes for Cancun during their plight, after just two days in front of a massive fire, only to get busted by a myriad of actual Texans who then forced him to come back after a day for damage control. Damage control that took the form of Cruz blaming his teenage daughters for his dereliction of duties. Mans left his dog, alone in that house, to freeze to death! Ted Cruz didn't even take his purse dog during a record winter freeze, man! One of their Mayors, now since resigned, literally told everyone to shut the f*ck up, figure it out, or die. And people have died. Children have die form this, actually frozen to death. In 2021. In a state as large as Texas. Children. Have. Died. From. This. All the while, guess what Dems have been doing?
Beto O'Rourke has been out in the streets, in that same cold that forced Ted Cruz to flee, distributing blankets and passing around soup. He's been coordinating with business and hotels, trying to find heated shelter for families and the homeless so they don't die in the f*cking street. Texas' Great Demon of Socialism, herself, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, raised two million dollars in two days, allocated for direct relief to Texan aide but that wasn't enough for her. She's even planning on volunteering at a Texas food bank, one probably boosted by a portion of that two mil she earned to help out, even though Flyin' Lyin' Ted was complicit in a whole ass insurrection where motherf*ckers targeted her life, specifically. That's just two Progressives, doing more for Texas than the actual f*cking Texas Senior leadership, and I'm inclined to bet there are many. many, more. Hell, those things that would have went a long way to preparing for this exact scenario which the very, very Red Electorate kept shooting down? Yeah, the Blue, the very minimized Blue who were able to claw a seat out at the Lone Star table, have been fighting for these changes for years. F*cking years.
The GOP does not care about you. They are not the party of personal responsibility. They are not the party of the working class. They are not the good Christians you want them to be. How can they be? Any time they are forced to lead, they bail. Any time they are held to account, they deflect. Texas is the great bastion of Conservative politics and look what is happening to them right the f*ck now. Republicans are climate deniers and Texas is in the throes of their harshest winter ever, because of climate change. Republicans are staunch Capitalists so Texas deregulated their entire energy grid in hopes that the Free Market would decide prices and that happened in a way. After their grid collapsed due to the lack of Federal regulation and maintenance, the state of emergency has allowed the big oil companies there to effectively price gouge energy companies for fuel, a hike that is definitely being passed on to their already freezing and suffering customers. The Right are aggressively trying to villainize Green Energy and Renewables, using this Texas situation to prove how terrible they would be for the entire country, even though ninety percent of their energy grid is fueled by Fossil and it was those plants that failed at a higher rate, much more quickly, than any of the windmills they keep trying to convince us iced over. Even though those same windmills are used in f*cking Iceland where they are regulated and maintained properly. But Big Oil pays handsomely for their Conservative politicians, check out how much oil money went to Ted Cruz last year, so they'll never properly hold them responsible for this. Instead, they're using partisan spin to somehow demonize the other side, even though it was the Right who consistently accept their egregious and blatant blood money. And that's the point.
Lives have less value than money to these people. Leadership is less lucrative than personal gain. The GOP is full of racist grifters who bamboozle their constituency because they're idiots who vote with their "heart" instead of their brains and that is nowhere more true than in f*cking Texas. Rick Perry is an idiot. He was the Secretary of Energy during Trump's lone term and that motherf*cker didn't even know what to do. Perry literally had no idea what responsibilities an Energy Secretary has. This asshole was the Governor of Texas. W, the worst president i had ever seen in my life until Trump, known coke head and solid C student his entire life, was Governor of Texas. These people elected these men because of their feigned swagger, because of this manicured image that they were the White Hat. Texans chase the ghost of John Wayne to lead them, even though John Wayne wasn't real It was a character that a really terrible human being named Marion Robert Morrison, played in the movies. Not even the f*cking name is real but his racism and misogyny sure was and this is the cartoon character that Texans see themselves as. This whole ass mockery of a person is who Republicans want to lead them. They want the Strong Man, They want a Putin but a down home, country version, instead of, you know, an unapologetic despot. It's no wonder this is the party that cages Brown kids in concentration camps with impunity and lets an entire state freeze, disproportionately effected massive urban areas like Houston and Dallas, which are chock full of, you guessed it; Black and Brown people!

Every 2020 candidate's 404 error page, ranked
Tumblr media
Joe Biden is now officially in the 2020 race and along with a lot of baggage and controversy, he's also brought a new fun 404 error page to the campaign.
But where does Biden's page stand in the context of every candidate that's declared for 2020? After all, there are nearly two dozen candidates.
We've compiled a ranking of the 404 error page from every candidate's website from worst to best. All 23 of them.
One note: these candidates were based off of the New York Times' list of candidates and we included Howard Schultz because he's made a lot of noise and gotten a lot of notice over a potential run. These rankings are based solely on the quality of the 404 pages themselves, not the candidates.
Behold.
23. Donald Trump
There is such a thing as a sore winner and there has likely never been a more textbook example of that in America's history than President Donald Trump, whose 404 page is a monument to the fact that he just can't let anything go.
Tumblr media
Sigh.
Image: Screenshot/Donald Trump
22. Howard Schultz
The former Starbucks CEO's feeling-out period (he technically hasn't officially entered the race) has been full of so many LOLs that when I discovered he used the much-maligned Papyrus font on his 404 page, my only reaction was, "of course he did."
Tumblr media
LOL
Image: SCREENSHOT/Howard Schultz
21. Seth Moulton
Moulton, a House rep from Massachusetts, has a responsive site that simply redirects any bad URL to his main page. TL;DR, he doesn't have a 404 page. And yet it's still better than Trump or Schultz.
Tumblr media
Clever play, Seth, clever play.
Image: Screenshot/seth moulton
20. Bill Weld
The former governor of Massachusetts who's the only Republican to announce a challenge to Trump thus far has an incredibly bland, generic 404 page that has a very "Wordpress default" feel to it. Same goes for the next few entries.
Tumblr media
It makes placeholder pages look drab.
Image: SCREENSHOT/Bill weld
19. Tim Ryan
The only reason Tim Ryan is ranked this high is because Weld's page is even drier.
Tumblr media
Meh.
Image: SCREENSHOT/Tim Ryan
18. Tulsi Gabbard
At least it's blue?
Tumblr media
Kind of different. Kind of.
Image: SCREENSHOT/Tulsi Gabbard
17. Julian Castro
What if Julian's twin brother Joaquin had a site with the exact same 404 page?
Tumblr media
Stripes!
Image: SCREENSHOT/julian Castro
16. Marianne Williamson
Williamson hasn't yet reached the required number of donors to make the DNC debates this summer, but at least there's some sort of personalization to her 404 page.
Tumblr media
A bit different.
Image: SCREENSHOT/Marianne Williamson
15. Wayne Messam
The mayor of Miramar, Florida steps things up by having an actual photo of himself.
Tumblr media
Okay, a bit better
Image: SCREENSHOT/Wayne Messam
14. Cory Booker
Come on, Cory, the "making a funny face" gag is pretty tired to begin with and, besides, doing something with a Hot Pocket would have been such a layup.
Tumblr media
A distinct lack of Hot Pockets.
Image: SCREENSHOT/Cory Booker
13. Andrew Yang
Yang has been closely associated with memes by the press, which makes his meme-less 404 page somewhat of a let-down.
Tumblr media
Is this a meme???
Image: SCREENSHOT/Andrew Yang
12. Pete Buttigieg
Buttigieg is one of the hot choices right now but he disappoints with this 404 page. As we've seen, the "candidate making a mock disappointed parent face" isn't very original. All he had to do to guarantee himself the top spot was to tease his fledgling Phish phandom.
Tumblr media
Dad is very disappointed.
Image: SCREENSHOT/Pete Buttigieg
11. John Hickenlooper
There's a very "Life is a Highway" feel about this 404 page and I love that jam, so here we are.
Tumblr media
LIFE IS A HIGHWAY, I'M GONNA RIDE IT ALL NIGHT LONG!
Image: SCREENSHOT/John Hickenlooper
10. John Delaney
Delaney, a former congressman from Maryland, quotes from Bruce Springsteen here which is fine! Delaney is apparently a huge Springsteen fan but, then again, so is Chris Christie. Besides, Delaney chooses to pass up the easy pick — "Born to Run" — in favor of "Dead Man Walkin'" which, come on, isn't the best play when you want to win, right?
And, frankly, how does this page not play off the fact that Delaney is actually Bezos-level swole?
Tumblr media
Not the best Springsteen quote, is it?
Image: Screenshot/John Delaney
9. Kirsten Gillibrand
Points to Gillibrand for being playful. Any other year, a candidate drinking a beer might be more noteworthy. But Elizabeth Warren already played that card and it backfired based simply on beer choice.
Tumblr media
Excuse me, Senator Gillibrand, but is that craft beer?
Image: SCREENSHOT/Kirsten Gillibrand
8. Amy Klobuchar
Big credit to Midwesterner Klobuchar for being the "Ope!" of the 2020 404 pages.
Tumblr media
Midwesterners unite!
Image: SCREENSHOT/Amy Klobuchar
7. Beto O'Rourke
The first of three candidates who went with GIFs instead of text or photos. It's kinda funny and original enough to rank pretty high here, but the other two GIF candidates are better.
Tumblr media
How very punk rock of you.
Image: Beto O'Rourke
6. Jay Inslee
This is wild for a variety of reasons:
The dad joke laid bare (sorry not sorry) for all to see.
It uses a cartoon of a surfing bear.
Inslee himself drew that cartoon of a surfing bear.
I love everything about it.
Tumblr media
Surf's up!
Image: SCREENSHOT/Jay Inslee
5. Joe Biden
Say what you will about Biden, and there's a lot that could be said, but he at least knows his brand.
Tumblr media
Cool guy Joe rides again.
Image: SCREENSHOT/Joe Biden
4. Bernie Sanders
Bernie Sanders is a lightning rod thanks to "Bernie Bros" and his role in 2016, but I still find this pretty funny.
Tumblr media
How very Bernie.
Image: Bernie sanders
3. Elizabeth Warren
A Star Wars reference, a memorable Warren quote, and an SNL video featuring Kate McKinnon? That is a recipe for success, right there.
Tumblr media
This totally makes up for BeerGate.
Image: SCREENSHOT/Elizabeth Warren
2. Kamala Harris
The cream of the crop in terms of the GIF 404 pages.
Tumblr media
This one has just a tad of heat on it.
Image: Kamala Harris
1. Eric Swalwell
You'd be forgiven if you don't know much about Swalwell, a California congressman. But he's the only politician who's recently had a high school yearbook item go viral for the right reasons and, as a member of some key House committees, he could have some visibility in the coming months.
Also, not only does he feature his dog Penny on his 404 page, but the extra effort is taken to turn your cursor into a floating image of Penny's face which, really, cinches it.
Tumblr media
MORE 2020 DOGS.

Candidates have come and gone, but Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders are forever. In the ongoing 2020 Democratic presidential primary, RealClearPolitics puts the former vice president's polling average at 27.8 percent as of its last update on Dec. 19. Sanders, the Independent senator from Vermont, gets 19.3 percent, giving the two candidates almost exactly the same polling averages they had a year ago.Yes, on Dec. 19, 2018, Biden had an average of 27.5 percent support for winning the 2020 nomination, while Sanders had 19 percent. It didn't matter that neither candidate had entered the presidential race yet, or that Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) was pretty much the only major candidate who had. Biden and Sanders have both seen spikes and drops in the year since, but with 2020 less than a week away, things are not really different than they were a year ago. Those unchanging numbers come despite Warren's rise from 5 percent support a year ago to 15.2 percent support as of Dec. 19, and even though she briefly hit a level of polling nearly double Sanders' average back in October. Sen. Kamala Harris' (D-Calif.) and former Texas Rep. Beto O'Rourke both entered and exited the race without changing the top of the polls, and South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, despite his unexpected rise, failed to make it to the top spots either.Anything could happen in 2020, but at this point ahead of the 2016 election, President Trump was the clear favorite.More stories from theweek.com A more honest evangelical defense of Trump 5 scathingly funny cartoons about Trump's holiday season Democratic leadership should be afraid of McKayla Wilkes

Is it Donald Trump or the far left Democrats causing violence and anti semitism?
Boston Herald:
Creeping anti-Semitism ugly new normal
Jeff Robbins·14 hours ago
It is painfully fitting, even if wholly coincidental, that the murderous anti-Semitic assault on Jewish worshipers celebrating the end of Passover at a California synagogue on Saturday occurred only days after the New York Times published a grotesquely anti-Semitic cartoon which, it admitted with some understatement, "included anti-Semitic tropes."
The cartoon is so obviously vile, so flagrantly evocative of Nazi ideology and present-day Hamas propaganda, that it cannot be passed off, as the Times' spinmeisters attempted to do, as a mere "error of judgment."
It depicted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a dog with a Star of David on his collar, leading a blind Donald Trump, wearing a skullcap.
This was no mere "error of judgment." It was a manifestation of the normalization of anti-Jewish racism, and of its carefree absorption not merely by the far left but the fashionable soft left as well. This cartoon would never have passed scrutiny at the Times had racism of this gross sort been directed at people of color or Muslims. No, anti-Semitism has become an acceptable form of racism within widening swaths of America.
The phenomenon has begun to seep subtly into the Democratic presidential nomination fight, where candidates Sen. Bernie Sanders and Beto O'Rourke, eager to pander to a Democratic base that increasingly demands this sort of stuff, have adopted over-the-top, mindless rhetoric, labeling the Israeli government "racist." For her part, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, in pursuit of the same constituency, was quick to defend the repeated anti-Semitic pronouncements of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, who accused pro-Israel Americans of buying support for Israel with hundred-dollar bills or, as she put it, "Benjamins."
Yesterday's shooting spree at the Chabad of Poway synagogue, six months to the day after an even deadlier attack at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, is part of the new normal metastasizing throughout America, as it has in Europe and the Mideast.
The white supremacism, the neo-Nazism and the vicious anti-Semitism of the far right garners a great deal of attention - as well it should. But there is responsibility - and guilt - for the spreading anti-Semitism in America that falls elsewhere as well. That includes the left, and it includes the oh-so-fashionable left embodied by the New York Times. The problem is an ugly one, and it runs far deeper than errors of judgment.
