Mijn mening: #recensie #review De cover vond ik al erg mooi. Ik hoop ooit het fysieke exemplaar aan mijn collectie te mogen toevoegen #coverlove Zara is een meisje met een interessante hobby en interesse. Ze is nl gefascineerd door fobieën. De hoofdstukken zijn onderverdeeld met als titels die fobieën. Ik werd daardoor wel op t verkeerde been gezet. Ik had nl verwacht dat fobieën een grotere rol in het boek zouden spelen. Dit is dus niet het geval. Als Zara naar Maine verhuisd naar haar stiefoma heeft ze het gevoel dat ze is weggestuurd door haar moeder wat haar band met haar niet ten goede komt. Naarmate het verhaal verder gaat, kom je er achter wat de reden van haar ma was en dat ze het beste met haar voor had. Het overlijden van haar stiefvader heeft een behoorlijke impact gehad op haar leven. Die probeert ze weer op orde te krijgen. Ik vind haar Oma fantastisch. Wat een leuk karakter is dat. Een lieve pittige oude dame met veel humor. Die ook een interessant geheim heeft. Het is een YA-roman en deel 1 in een serie. De verhaallijn is wel redelijk afgesloten maar ik ben wel benieuwd naar de andere avonturen van Zara en haar vrienden en familie. Het verhaal heeft alles; fantasy, romantiek, vriendschap, magie, humor, familieperikelen, drama, onzekerheden, bovennatuurlijke wezens. En is ook nog eens origineel. Weer eens wat anders. De wezens zijn niet standaard. Look what I got myself for Christmas! Time Stoppers books 1 & 2 by @carriejonesbooks I love a good #MGlit (and YA) fantasy, and the first pages of both these books sucked me in, made me feel empathy for and relate to Annie, and made me love the writing. I love strong-girl characters, love the underdog winning, and I so relate to abused, bullied, and/or neglected kids (having been one). I can't wait to read them!
