Girls Night!
Tumblr media
Yeah the girls get color film because I love them and more importantly i love color
Suzie (my favorite courier) is on the left and Caroline is on the right. I headcanon that Suzie would wear the platinum chip as a pendant after Mr. House no longer needed it and I gave Caroline a yellow lensed monocle as a bit of a nod to GLaDOS’s design
I honestly really love how this drawing turned out everything just looks so nice to me right now. The next drawing will probably take a while because I’m gonna draw Suzie and Mr. House and i want to draw that one with the new coloring/shading technique I’ve been workshopping (it takes so long but looks so good when it’s done) (suzie’s reference page was the testing ground for it)

Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep (book 3): Kings of Anarchy by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti
My father always taught me to take care of myself.
He made me strong, cunning and calculating.
But my Brutal Boys made me unbreakable.
Have you ever heard the saying that it takes one to know one? Because from the very first moment I met the men I've claimed as my tribe, I knew that I was looking into the faces of monsters. And that really should have been all it took for me to know that I was one too.
Hiding beneath my skin isn’t an innocent girl, waiting for someone to ride in on a white horse and rescue me from my demons. So I think it’s time I showed the world my claws.
I’m sick of people thinking they own me. My Night Keepers and now the members of this twisted club all need to learn a lesson in that.
I’m not a doll made to dance to their tune, I’m not a puppet intended to play a part and I’m certainly no plaything to be used and destroyed. I’m a warrior with a goal of my own. And everyone who wants to stand in my way had better get used to the idea of falling to ruin at my feet.
When everything you thought you could rely on is ripped away from you, you have no choice but to find out what you’re truly made of. And deep down in the depths of my soul, I know that I was made to survive.
I have suffered through torment, fought against my oppressors and tamed the creatures who tried to bury me in the dark.
It’s time that everyone stopped underestimating me.
I’m done being a queen without a crown.
I’m ready for my coronation.
This is a high school bully romance series. Start with book 1 Kings of Quarantine.

My Review: 4/5 Stars
To those who said be patient with this series, it is worth it, you were totally right! The turn this book takes makes it impossible to put down and love these characters. The dynamics are changing bit by bit with Tatum and the Night Keepers. And we are really getting to the core of who exactly these guys are and why they are the way they are. They're monsters. They're protectors. And when it comes to Tatum there is nothing they won't do to keep her safe. In this story there is SO much going on. Especially after that previous book ending. The rules are changing between their tribe (much to the stress of Saint) and Tatum is seeing her guys in a whole new light than when she first met them. On their list of things to do they have to pass along Tatum's dad's notes on the Hades virus to expose the truth. He didn't release the virus and he could have been on his way to cure. Tatum joins Kyan's cause to expose these shady club that somehow connects back to those who caused the Hades virus in the first place. And there is a new stalker on campus after Tatum and her Night Keepers. It seems these guys never get a break. And that's just some of the highlights. Each of them have their own story and bit by bit come to light. I wanted to know their redemption arcs when I first started this series. I wanted to know what it was about them that could make up for everything they have done. And learning more about them you get to see exactly who they are and they aren't what you would think. They have reasons and beliefs and morals. And are some of the most interesting characters. I'm cheering for them all now. And after that cliffhanger ending, I can't wait to see how it all plays out in the end!

eventually philza becomes emperor and decides that he doesn't need techno and throws him to metaphorically wolves (like banishment or something)
techno is like what?? i thought we were besties and philza is like no you were just a good soldier for me to use which leads to techno anarchy arc where he tears the empire down
originally it was supposed to be about techno betraying philza like what-could-have-been-canon but then i could only find art for philza betraying techno so role swap

Johnny Rotten goofing around along with the rest of the Sex Pistols & Co. during a traditional Christmas dinner party hosted by Caroline Coon in Ladbroke Grove, London, as captured on 25th December 1976 by Ray Stevenson (pic 1) and Leee Black Childers (pics 2 & 3).
Caroline Coon: "...Everybody was exhausted from the Anarchy tour. I wanted to have a traditional Christinas. Fortunately, Jonh Ingham was house-sitting a huge house just off Ladbroke Grove. I did turkey, Christmas pudding and all the trimmings. It was an open house: everybody from all the main bands came...".

THIS DAY IN GAY HISTORY
based on: The White Crane Institute's 'Gay Wisdom', Gay Birthdays, Gay For Today, Famous GLBT, glbt-Gay Encylopedia, Today in Gay History, Wikipedia, and more … December 30
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
1865 – Rudyard Kipling (d.1936) in "The Appeal" begged "Seek not to question other than / The books I leave behind." The two-line poem written shortly before his death is decribed by his editor M. M. Kaye as "a plea to posterity to respect his private life." Such an appeal proves especially ironic having been made by a man who deliberately lived by far the greatest part of his life in the public eye, as a result of his novels, stories, poetry, and politics.
Born in India and schooled in England, in his late teens Kipling entered the public stage as a newspaperman in India; the poems and prose vignettes of British colonial and native life in South Asia that he wrote for local publications proved wildly successful when collected and republished in book form in England. They established him as one of the most original voices of his generation. For the entire of his adult life Kipling fashioned himself as the conscience of the English-speaking world, refusing government honors in order to remain free to pontificate publicly on a host of social, political, and economic issues.
In the vein of the opening quote, the systematic destruction of his private papers (letters, diaries, and drafts of works), begun by Kipling while alive, was continued by his wife after his death, and completed by his daughter following Mrs. Kipling's own demise. Consequently, most of the evidence concerning Kipling's private life has been lost, while suspicion has been aroused of a secret that Kipling and his family hoped to suppress.
That secret, biographer Martin Seymour-Smith concluded in 1989, is that Kipling was in love with a charming, young, American literary agent, Wolcott Balestier, who died suddenly in 1891, and that a grief-stricken Kipling married the man's sister Caroline only six weeks later out of a sense of loyalty to his departed friend and/or guilt over his homosexual desire.
Kipling's nature was so deeply homosocial, echoed in the "brotherly love" that permeates his writings, that even after he married, he proved incapable of representing heterosexual love in anything other than a stilted, wooden way. In adulthood, he bonded closely with men like Henry James (who gave away the bride at the Kiplings' wedding), Edmund Gosse, and Cecil Rhodes who are now recognized to have been discreet or closeted homosexuals. Contemporaries questioned Kipling's orientation. For example, writer Enid Bagnold wondered—after she had become friendly with Kipling and his wife—if the older man was not a repressed homosexual.
As Martin Seymour-Smith interprets the facts of Kipling's life, Kipling feared expressing homosexual desire because he associated homosexual acts with "beastliness" and anarchy. His small size made him particularly vulnerable to other boys' advances in school, further coloring with anxiety any desire that he may have felt. Although in later life he publicly insisted that United Services College had been free of "uncleanness" while he was in residence there, he complained privately of the sexual activities that he had indeed regularly witnessed among his contemporaries, and in which he himself was accused of participating by one of his schoolmasters.
However, Leon Edel concluded Kiping's homosexuality was so buried that although "Between Balestier and Kipling it was a case of camaraderie and of love, almost at first sight. Platonic, quite clearly." that "Both would have been terrified at any other suggestion."

1901 – Beauford Delaney (d.1979) was an American modernist painter. He is remembered for his work with the Harlem Renaissance in the 1930s and 1940s, as well as his later works in abstract expressionism following his move to Paris in the 1950s.
Born in 1901, Delaney began working with Lloyd Branson, a Knoxville impressionist painter who saw talent in the young artist and took him under his wing when he was about 20 years old.
Tumblr media
The Time of Your Life
In 1923, Delaney left home for Boston, where he studied at several schools, including the Massachusetts Normal School and the South Boston School of Art. He made his way in 1929 to New York, where he floated between Greenwich Village and Harlem. With the city in the throes of the Great Depression, he supported himself with various small jobs while painting simple but earnest portraits, modernist interiors and urban street scenes often depicting the disenfranchised and downtrodden.
In 1953, at the age of 52, Delaney moved to Paris, where his friend, James Baldwin, had already fallen into a steady rhythm of expat life. Settling in the Left Bank neighborhood of Montparnasse, an artists’ enclave, Delaney, like Baldwin, relished a sense of freedom as a gay black man that he did not have in the United States.Delaney found little commercial success in Paris and survived mostly on the generosity of friends and dedicated patrons. Existing mental health problems only intensified and, by the 1960s, his decline was fueled by heavy drinking and the onset of schizophrenia. A year after his Harlem retrospective, he was dead. Baldwin and other friends paid for his burial in the Thiais cemetery near Paris.

1956 – Larry Duplechan, born in Los Angeles, California, is an American novelist. He is best known for his novels Blackbird, which is being adapted into a forthcoming film starring Mo'Nique and Isiah Washington, and Got 'til It's Gone, which won a Lambda Literary Award in the Gay Romance category at the 21st Lambda Literary Awards.
After graduation, he initially pursued a career in music, both as a solo singer and as a member of a jazz vocal group, but gave it up after the time demands of pursuing music while also holding down a full time day job began to threaten his relationship with his partner Greg Harvey.
Duplechan published his first novel, Eight Days a Week, in 1985. The novel introduced Johnnie Ray Rousseau, the lead character in nearly all of his subsequent novels. Blackbird, a prequel novel focusing on Rousseau's childhood, was published the following year and more strongly established Duplechan's reputation as an important writer of gay African-American fiction. He has also been identified as one of the first important gay writers to have come of age after the Stonewall riots, and whose writing thus lacked the internalized homophobia that often characterized the work of the previous generation of gay writers.
In 1990, he published Tangled Up in Blue, an AIDS-themed novel which was his only work not to feature Rousseau as its central character, although its main characters reappear in Duplechan's subsequent Rousseau novels as supporting characters.
Duplechan's next novel Captain Swing (1993) returned to Rousseau, and found him grieving the death of his boyfriend Keith in a car accident.
After Captain Swing, Duplechan took a hiatus from writing for several years and returned to singing, founding an a cappella vocal group and participating in community choirs after the home he shared with Harvey was damaged in the 1994 Northridge earthquake. A new 20th anniversary edition of Blackbird was published by Arsenal Pulp Press in 2006, and Duplechan's most recent novel to date, Got 'til It's Gone, was published by the same company in 2008.
Duplechan and Harvey legally married in 2008, during the period between the initial legalization of same-sex marriage in California and the passage of Proposition 8.

In 2011, Brant publicly came out as gay.
In 2014, Brant was quoted in a Harper's Bazaar profile of him, his brother Harry and mother, Stephanie, about enjoying his clan's notoriety, "We had to do a report about our parents: where they were born, what they did, and all that. Everyone else had to do theirs as homework, but I finished mine before class ended using Wikipedia."
In 2015, Peter along with his younger brother Harry, in collaboration with Mac Cosmetics, launched a unisex cosmetics line aimed at the Gender fluid youth movement.
In 2021, Harry died after an accidental drug overdose. The 24-year-old socialite and fashion circuit fixture had struggled with addiction and was due to enter a rehab facility imminently. Peter posted a tribute to him on Twitter.

His father is Mixed Native American and African-American; his mother is Caucasian. His sister, Jessica Powell, stars on TLC's My Big Fat Fabulous Life and is a Certified Personal Trainer at their father's fitness studio. "Anarchist defenses of the animal cause in France emerged with the birth of the movement in the second half of the 19th century. It is worth noting that many of them were put forth by women. In the late 1880s, the journalist Caroline Rémy (aka Séverine) wrote several articles condemning animal exploitation in the periodical Le Cri du Peuple, founded by Jules Vallès on the eve of the Paris Commune of 1871. The poet and activist Marie Huot, founder of the Popular League Against Vivisection (1882), compared the domination of men over women to that of humans over animals. Louise Michel, the French grande dame of anarchy, asserted that animals were sentient beings and decried the violence and cruelty with which humans treated them. Like many other anarchists, she drew a parallel between the exploitation of workers and that of nonhuman animals." - Carl Tobias Frayne, "The Anarchist Diet"

The ways in which ideas about ‘Zomia’ have provoked, inspired, jostled and indeed riled are certainly intriguing. [...] A G[oo]gle search for the term ‘Zomia’ yields 90,700 results (as of [2019]) [...]. Among these, [...] in an opinion piece [...] titled “The Undiscovered Country” (14 Feb 2012), Frank Jacobs [...] offered up a short history of ‘refuges, sanctuaries, freetowns, zones of no control’, adding [...] ‘Zomia’ to this mix. [...] Jacobs suggested that,
there exists another type of border, one that doesn’t reflect back our image. In vampiric asymmetry [...]. The world as we know it -- reciprocal even across national borders -- ends here. [...] The borderline does not merely separate two territories, but two paradigms: law and order from anarchy, progress from primitivism. Or perhaps, seen from the other side: freedom from oppression [...].
In Germany, a caravan park calling itself “Wagenplatz Zomia” has also drawn inspiration [...] as the community protests against high rents in Hamburg [...]. [C]ommunity members face eviction from [...] hostile and inept municipalities that spend millions of Euros building commercial centres that end up derelict and empty [...]. The authorities are also seen as utterly resistant to providing affordable housing for low income residents. Here, Zomia encapsulates protest against the state, represented by the neo-liberal economic vision of progress.
Generally speaking, the debate generated, particularly by Scott’s emphasis on Zomia as an intentional ‘non-state’ space, has been significant [...], and it continues to unfold in surprising ways. [...]
---
On the other hand, scholars not necessarily working in highland Asia but inspired by the emphasis on indigenous agency, namely that communities ‘chose to place themselves out of the reach of the state’ [...], have found ways to incorporate these ideas in their own research. [...] Benjamin Powell and Malvika Nair (2012), for example, have incorporated many of these ideas while engaging in comparative studies between a 19th century South Indian banking caste and modern day Somalia. Thus, as a ‘heuristic of resistance’, Zomia has stimulated considerations of applicability [...]. Perhaps the best example is Caroline Humphrey’s exploration of Zomia as an idea in Inner Asian studies. She wrote (2015: 105):
Thinking in terms of Zomia allows a looking outwards from peripheral areas as at the impositions of states and empires. It becomes clear that the ‘friction of terrain’, the very difficulty or remoteness of these zones, has given an advantage to the [...] inhabitants, who know the local passageways, the hideouts, the hidden desert wells, as so forth [...], while at the same time rendering tax collection, military conscription, etc. [...] difficult enough [...] for a pre-modern state apparatus. [...] Zomia-like areas could maintain a certain independence [...]. [T]heir relative inaccessibility was the very reason why these zones became refuges for repeated waves of runaways, migrants, deserters and bandits, and also, in some cases, sites of millenarian resistance to colonialism. [...]
---
Tom Brass, in his piece “Scott’s “Zomia”, or a Populist Postmodern History of Nowhere,” (2012: 125) suggested that Scott’s Zomia project [...] follows a trend of ‘resurgent populist historiography’ that orientalises the agency of people living at the margins, a trend that has ‘colonised academic journals’ [...].
Hjorleifur Jonsson (2014, 2010) similarly sees Scott and many of his followers as failing to recognise how the notion of everyday resistance as a kind of cultural trait essentialises a great multitude of complex peoples that are anything but the nostalgic anthropologist’s ‘pure’ and ‘unpolluted’ small-scale societies. [...] Sanford Schram, on the other hand, has suggested that the myriad forms that resistance and evasion from state interference engendered in Scott’s account point to a very important, context-specific insight, thus, on those grounds alone, meriting further exploration [...]. Unsurprisingly, in an age of increasingly authoritarian regimes, unfettered global capitalism, and [...] state and private surveillance, the idea of a large swath of Asia existing beyond state control [...] is very attractive.
Critics have been clear about the fact that we mustn’t essentialise this space. [...]

Hmmm can you maybe tell us a little about this au? Like how everyone reacts n stuff
HI ANON! i wanted to wait a little bit to reply to this because this post was for april fool’s and i wanted to keep the sort of surprise a secret LOL. but i’ll entertain you cuz i love making my characters suffer.
i don’t PLAN FOR THIS TO HAPPEN in my storyline for them. i want them to be alive :). but if you want to indulge yourself in some depression here you go
TW: major character death, suicide ideation.
Sicily is rightfully devastated. after Kaity is confirmed dead, she immediately calls off the whole campaign. she tries to keep her cool, but as they prepare to leave, Pearl woefully tells her they can’t keep the body because it’s at risk of bringing the coral disease to the surface. this sends Sicily over the edge. she curses out Pearl and Marina, telling them that if she were here this would’ve never fucking happened, and that they should be fucking ashamed for their negligence. how Kaity was fucking everything to her. when she runs out of words, she screams until her lungs and eyes run dry, leaving her a husk curled up on the ground. Pearl, after recovering from the pure sting of the yelling, plucks Kait’s ring off of her necklace and gives it to Sicily. she grips it tightly, wordlessly.
when she returns, she starts painting again. she paints kait. she studies every photograph she has of her and wishes she took more. she learns every angle and every curve of her body. all she sees on her canvas is kait, modeling for her as if nothing were ever wrong. when she’s not painting, she’s sleeping. she yearns for her presence through any means possible. any.
Caroline is traumatized. she knew the effects were something to be concerned about, but she didn’t know it would go this far as to kill her. she mentally kills herself that she didn’t notice any effects sooner. she moves out of the apartment she shared with Kaity and moves in with Sicily, of course bringing all of Kait’s stuff with her. she moved partly because she couldn’t stand the ghost of someone’s prescence in their home, and also to keep an eye on Sicily. she can’t look at the number 8 anymore. Kirakira doesn’t know how to react, but after some thinking starts planning a memorial. he stays stone faced until the day comes, when he can’t control his emotions. he’d never cried like that in his life before, ever. after about a month he opens the memorial to the public, and lets a bunch of news companies know. eventually it even gets to the Anarchy Splatcast. her makeshift grave is stacked high with flowers, octopi merchandise and octoling models from magazines, and letters written from the public. he reads and views everything given to Kaity, and eventually stores and files it all away. he’d always been a fan of organizing things, especially with Kaity. he looks at it as them spending time together. Trikaya and Mitsuo are left distraught. they didn’t know Kaity that well, but instead notice the difference in Sicily’s behavior. she was no longer someone who they thought indestructible. she was hollow. left without a source of stability, and brought down by the heavy mood of the death of someone they didn’t know, they struggled to socialize with anyone from the NSS. eventually, callie and marie take the responsibility of taking care of them from Sicily. they still write her letters and make her trinkets, to which she sometimes writes back. Sicily would never want to worry anyone by saying this, but they’re the only forces keeping her alive.
Pearl and Marina mourn her as if they had lost a child. they feel guilt and grief, with each of them experiencing it totally differently.
Pearl becomes very protective of Marina. she almost sees a similarity in their past and current behaviors, and fears the same thing may happen to Marina, too. she takes her to every doctor and uses any and every method of science and pseudoscience to make sure Marina’s body is clean of coral. she also invites Sicily and Caroline to these outings, of which they went to the doctors’ appointments but not to any of the experimental things.
Marina becomes pretty depressed. she loses her sweetness and sassiness, and all of her emotions become filled with a sad twinge. she puts up with Pearl’s obsession so long as she gets cleaned too, she says. she keeps her ink color as Kait’s in memorial.

OH MY GOD YOU ALSO LIKE PORTAL, SPLATOON AND PHIGHTING!!!! Who are your favourites characters from each game?/nf (I'm so sorry if this ask is off-putting it's just really cool to see someone have the same interests as me)
OHMYGOD YES I DO!! THIS IS SO COOL
okayokay so like. portal? i love pretty much everybody there (except rick he gives me the creeps) but i definitely have a huge bias for wheatley and a slightly smaller huge bias for GLaDOS- i am still stuck scrounging for literally any more portal content everyday and yesterday i watched the portal 2 unauthorized musical (it's so fucking funny at times but the voice from the GLaDOS actor is played up a bit too much- on a positive note from that it also spends alot of time with caroline and cave which is pretty cool!! though i'd say just be careful at the end of that arc since the actor pulls off that scream way too damn well) (ALSO THE TURRETS I FORGOT THE TURRETS I LOVE THEM MY BABIES)
uhh splatoon saying agent 8 would be kinda obvious since i literally took 8 as a name i kinda kinned a bit too hard so umm other than that i think- i really can't pick a favorite set of idols because they're just all!! soo!! but if we're going by songs alone then i'd have to pick deep cut because anarchy rainbow is literally the best thing i've ever heard- also back to the agents i love literally all of them!! i guess captain 3 would be my favorite there though ^^
and PHIGHTING!!!!! OKAY!! so before shuriken came out my friends would play together but i'd rarely ever join them because the other phighters just really did not fit my playstyle- but then of course when he came out there were alot of people wanting to play him so i also picked up medkit! and then after that i'm okay at vinestaff but i've become a SKATEBOARD MAIN I KNOW I KNOW why skateboard?! i don't know he's just fun honestly lol. people get kinda pissed at me sometimes but you deal with it; i'm not too into the lore so i couldn't tell you much in relation to the actual characterization-! buut i also really like hyperlaser. he's just neat :)
IM SORRY THIS POST IS SO LONG THESE ARE LIKE MY TOP 3 INTERESTS HFSDHFHNDVNSFH!!!

TV: Queer As Folk (1999-2000)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
