I have been harboring the idea for a very long time about how our world would change if a Sorting hat helped people in career choice, like in Harry Potter with houses.
Like: you don't know who you want to become? Put on a hat and it will tell you in which profession you will succeed and realize yourself as a person. Do you not understand in which area your strengths and weaknesses will be useful? No problem, the hat will show you the right way.
But the most beautiful thing about it will be that it won't be the final choice for a person. If person doesn't like it, they may not follow the path that the sorting hat pointed out to them.

If SK met in the modern era instead, what jobs would they have and how would they meet
First off, SK reunions are one of my FAVOURITE tropes! I'm all about the "falling in love moment", so if it includes pining too, PERFECTION. And even if it was a canon-divergence "reset", there are so many options!
I love the idea of Kagome doing something SUPER smart. She worked so hard to study while she was fighting Naraku, so making her a doctor or lawyer or architect, etc. is always really fun. But I also see her very involved with children as well, so pediatrician, teacher, etc. works very well too. I just love the thought of her having a really complex degree behind her.
Sesshoumaru on the other hand, as much as I LOVE his CEO side, giving him a more artistic career expands the spectrum of his character SOOO much! Chef, writer, artist, sex-store owner (it's artistic, roll with it), bartender, etc. are such a contrast to him in a business suit, it's almost jarring, but it frees I'm up to be a little more open emotionally.
As for how they meet, I can't really pick a specific thing for this. Surprises are always fun (like just randomly running into each other on the street or at an event), but also their career being something the other doesn't expect due to their first interactions is a great time too. Ugh, it's so hard to choose! I just love them so much.
Thanks for asking!

I know what career I want and what direction I want my life to go in, and yet I feel like I have no support.
I’ve told my family what I want to do, and they don’t seem to be interested in it and keep suggesting other stuff for me to do.
It’s like a constant battle in my head of doing what makes me happy and fighting my way there, or just accepting the mundane way of life and work in a dead end job.

CW: vent post, majors, university, career choice, academic validation
There is a difference between being something and wishing to be that something.
I’ve battled with myself on this in regard to many different points of my life. When as a kid I wanted to be popular, when I wanted to be cisgender, and now with my career choices.
I think science is very interesting and I truly enjoy learning it all. I wanted a career that reflected the effort and made all of my self-sacrifices worth it.  I wished.
But it’s what I wish, not what I am. I can try as hard as I like, but am I happy when I get two hours of sleep studying for three separate biology unit exams? Am I happy when my every thought consists of my workload? Am I happy when I realize that I have no original thoughts or personality if I am not working?
The answer is no.
I am happy when I write stories. I am happy when I go out with my partner instead of spending the day studying for 9 hours. I am happy when I learn the arts, when I read and act and listen to music and teach history or archeology. When I write papers and travel and research.
Whatever I choose to do, it has to be something I am, not something I wish to be.
I’ll still try in my sciences, but they do not hold my worth. I am brilliant and intelligent and smart, regardless on how I do on a chemistry exam.
This is me.

I want to study economics and dedicate myself to investments and the stock market (? I can't believe that I've come up with those thoughts right now.
For so long, I didn't really know what i wanted for my future but now everything seems so clear🤦🏽‍♀️ It is devastating that I didn't realise this before. I could've studied economics right after high school but i must admit that by that time i wasn't the strong and confident persona that i am right now. I guess i needed to live a little to know what i want. Now that i know what i want, my future is kinda more clear and it is terrifying but i am relieved at the same time. For so many years, i knew that i wanted to study something related to Economics bc it has always been something of my interest but i didn't really know what i wanted to / do / with that and now that i know it kinda of scares me. What am i gonna do 😭😭
I need to finish the degree that i am doing right now and graduate and then think about dedicating myself to economics, while working oh boyyyyy it ain't gonna be easy huh. Good thing that i'm young i guess
