I love Janeway in Star Trek Picard: Firewall. I’m glad that David Mack got Janeway. I was afraid, honestly that he wouldn’t. I shouldn’t have, he’s a consultant on Star Trek Prodigy and he’s not Peter David who killed Janeway so ignobly in his novel.

Anyway, this part is so great:

”I’m better than clever, Director— I’m famous. I know for a fact the shine hasn’t yet worn off my celebrity as Voyager’s captain. And if you think I won’t stoop to manipulating public opinion to tie your hands and make you look like a petty villain… think again.”

I. Love. Her.

Janeway would drop everything, cross every mountain, destroy any timeline for her crew but especially for three people. But most of all, it's because Janeway also knows how to play politics and is highly aware of her place in Starfleet.

Seriously, if Janeway doesn’t end as Commander in Chief of all Starfleet, what’re we even doing here!

Yesterday I was kind of numb.

Today I am heartbroken, for Rhys most of all. Imagine finding the role you were "born to play" and not only do you feel that way about it, but that the character is truly unique in the ways that Stede Bonnet is. Imagine that role means getting to show off your well-established comedic chops while exploring the depths of your dramatic abilities. Imagine getting to do it all next to one your best friends in the entire world, who is doing some of the best acting of his career.

I'm so sorry for everyone involved, cast, crew, and fans, but I can't imagine how Rhys must have felt when he found out.

Going back and forth between seasons 1 and later seasons Voyager shows how much Janeway has changed from the earlier seasons to a Janeway that's a lot more confident in her Command.

Season 7 Janeway has far less patience dealing with Delta Quadrant nonsense than she was in her first two years:

"Saber rattling" she calls it.

People call this Janeway being inconsistent but this is just natural development always getting the wrong side of the phaser and/or getting stabbed in the back far, far too many times.

I really do think tangling with the Borg in Scorpion I & II was Janeway's crucible of fire. After that she was a lot more ready to go to arms, and a lot more confident in her capabilities as a war chief, when needed.
