Synopsis
In Marvel Studios’ “The Marvels,” Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as “The Marvels.”

I doubt anyone here would disagree (and I can't be certain that it's necessarily a risk of any kind; it may just be further symptomatic of our media being run by capitalism and we've encountered more than enough crises in the last decade stemming from that so, perhaps, nothing new) but it's tremendously annoying – if nothing else – the frequency with which – misogyny would be an accurate statement but the vindictiveness and the targets feel more in line with – incel garbage presented in a professional format (à la that "therapist" video I commented about not too long ago) keep showing up as recommendations on YouTube.
Maybe these are channels that have been around for a while and have a large audience and I just never noticed but they're always billed as these general channels with names like "The Movie Critic" and purport to be giving insight about a subject (like celebrities which destroyed their own careers) and then clearly are just creating a narrative of neutrality to dunk on women or particular women that bother them (often because those individuals deigned to exist).
The latest recommendation came out yesterday and, 1, all the celebrities who "destroyed" their careers (sans Ezra Miller) are women and the only men they provide are grouped in a short segment under "canceled" (and happen to be Keven Spacey and Jonathan Majors and, while not defending either of them, it sure is interesting that the men they decided to use are gay and black, respectively, as if it doesn't help to further round out a narrative about how our world is made worse by the presence of marginalized people).
And, if that isn't suspicious enough of the bias this Hollywood-Access–fluff-piece wannabe might have, one of the actresses who "destroyed" their career is Brie Larson; the same Larson who had two films and three television shows this year. Fucking Room Brie Larson. I'm pretty certain neither audiences nor critics nor studios are keeping their distance from her, as a performer.
Putting aside even the misogyny, this is directly trying to distort the viewer's understanding of reality because, apparently, they couldn't take Larson's comments during Captain Marvel and rewrite reality (which is pathetic, in itself – both in terms of what you'd put your finite time and energy on this world towards and just what triggers off that use of time and energy, but also just annoying in its smallness).
I guess what worries me, if it is a trend – even if not new –, is that we never actually properly tackled misinformation after 2016–2020. And, while the scale of change these videos try to accomplish is small, these things obviously build up and this is a level of effort that I haven't seen as much with the misinformation that surrounded Trump; both videos pretend to be neutral sources on topics of fairly universal concern while peddling narratives that don't even attempt to be based in reality. It's not like the posts that went around saying Hilary Clinton was buddy-buddy with a Klansman (which requires some layers to pick apart); this is someone just straight up saying a famous and well-off actress no longer has a career – the baldfacedness of it is beyond what we were seeing before and…I'm not sure that people, on average, would be able to detect the obvious bias of the video.

Thinking on how in the lead to the Captain Marvel movie, people said that if Marvel (both Comics and Cinematic Universe) truly cared about diversity, they would've picked Monica over Carol. (correct)
The catch was that, at least in my experience lurking on twitter, that talking point got mostly parroted by "Geeks + Gamers" adjacent diphits (i.e. Comicsgate and the "Fandom Meance"), so everyone knew they would've thrown an EVEN BIGGER hissy fit should've Monica been chosen.

As of my last knowledge update in January 2023, I don't have specific information about Marvel movies released in 2023. Movie details, especially for future releases, are subject to change, and my training data only includes information up until that date.
To get the most accurate and up-to-date information about a Marvel movie released in 2023, I recommend checking official Marvel Studios announcements, movie databases, or reputable entertainment news sources for the latest details on the film's title, plot, cast, and release date.
