Not to be dramatic but Jonathan Stroud's letter announcing Lockwood and Co's cancelation literally broke me.
Like "Portland Row is always open for business"? "Drop by any time"? "It's your home too, after all"?
HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO BE OKAY AFTER THIS

I think what all of you who are lowkey excited about the prospect of the show getting cancelled (???) don’t understand (or maybe you do and I’m giving you way too much credit here) is that all those fuckers who harassed and bullied a 12 year old girl off of social media for a year will come crawling right back out of the woodworks so they can gloat.
I’d rather have a “bad” show than subject Leah to that abhorrent racism again.

One thing that's so tremendously disheartening about the JK Rowling situation is the complete lack of coverage in the (British) media.
It is not something that should be written off as just some twitter drama. The richest author on the planet, a woman who has a long running BBC TV show based on one book series and another in the works with Max for a separate series, a woman who has millions of followers on socials, theme parks and plays based on her works, who is profiting from her continued role in a generation's nostalgia every single second has- completely literally- denied Nazi crimes. And no-one influential cares. She is not going to face consequences for this.
The only thing more disheartening is that if the press did call her out for (again) literally denying Nazi crimes, it'd just make her book sales go up.

If Seven have water bending powers, Six soul eating powers and Mono space-time powers what would Raincoat Girl powers would be
Tumblr media
oOOOO see, I thought about this quite a bit for the past week. I don't think Raincoat girl's powers will come up in Channel Change, so I'll share my headcanon here.
Raincoat girl I've always called "Five" though I've considered calling her "Quinn" (or even "Cinc") sometimes to not be so obviously a number, kind of like Mono's naming scheme. But I don't think the name Quinn would stick with the fandom as well as "Five" would...
To me, Five would have the ability to change her size at will. (Typically shrink, but only when she gets more powerful later she will learn how to enlarge herself.) She may also have the ability the manipulate the sizes of objects, people, or animals around her.
My evidence: 1. "VERY LITTLE Nightmares" game title 2. The Nest is more like a giant doll house, and she's surrounded by children turned into dolls 3. Each collectible has something to do with the children's powers. She collects Jack-in-the-boxes; children's toys that had been made in France as little "Demon-in-the-boxes". A tiny puppet pops out to surprise/scare the person playing its music because typically, no one would expect a creature to be compressed in something so small.
Six is a soul eater. She can suck the souls out of adults for sustenance. She can suck the youth out of children, turning them into nomes so that she may remain immortal. She may have the ability to teleport through shadows. She may or may not also have the ability to create shadow proxy children?
Mono is a space-time manipulator. He can travel through time and teleport elsewhere through TVs. He can leave behind imprints of children and also reabsorb them? He has minor to major telekinesis and draws in the attention of those around him.
Seven has hydrokinesis. He can physically manipulate water. He can create air pockets to breathe underwater. If he concentrates, he can also control the water inside someone's body including his own. This proves difficult when trying to lift others, but his body is the easiest to control, giving the illusion that he's floating on air.
Five/Quinn is a size shifter. She can shrink at will to crawl through small spaces like a mouse; to get into hidden rooms or to avoid being caught. She can also enlarge herself at will and has the ability the manipulate thse sizes of objects, people, or animals around her. But this requires heavy concentration to do so.

Producers: So basically, we will take a trilogy, alter it, and then add characters from another book of the same franchise while excluding other important, and loved characters. Not only that, we will add some important, for the plot of the book, scenes while completely ripping them out of context.
More of it, we will change the characters' places in life, at the same time slightly altering their backstories, and also changing said important scenes' meaning. We will absolutely ignore the great opportunity of showing their backstories, but instead will change the ending of the trilogy and change(again(!)) the places that characters from the book end up in which would mean that a possible spinoff, which will have the events of the book in it, would have a different beginning, which would mean that many many important for the plot scenes and events would not happen or would have a complete different meaning.
We will also change the relationships between characters. That most likely will deprive us of several very important plot threads or would make them much, much more painful.
I think that’s all. Oh, wait no! We also will place a hint on a relationship between an aroace character and a character who’s original relationship is the one fans love the most and the one that’s very much needed for the plot.
And now when I’m finished.
“Six of crows” fandom, how are we feeling?

YR S2 Trailer Talk (Pt.1)
My, my has it been a fair whack of time since I last did one of these. The release of the S3 Trailer was like being opened from my rustic tomb, so I thought that I would do an analysis/thought/prediction post ! (Also - Please excuse the quality of the screenshots x the red play bar):
The Lake (Continuous):
Tumblr media
As we know from previous seasons, the lake's function has been situated as place of solace for its location outside of the royal, institutional and domestic spaces. It is both meditative and reflective.
In S1, the lake was one of the only occasions where the boys were not just happy (a rare instance) but also where they were afforded a sense of privacy (even if it was the illusion of privacy). It's on school-grounds, so it is somewhat controlled, but Malin was also there. Here, I get the impression that they might actually be on their own. The shot is so serene, with the golden-green landscape refracting off of the water, and the boys' silhouettes slightly obscured.
We also got a snapshot of this scene from the teaser pictures, where Wille and Simon were floating atop the water, and they were sort-of peacefully basking in the Sun. The lake has been consistent throughout the seasons: Season 1 was Winter, Season 2 was Spring (I think?), and so Season 3 may be the Spring-Summer transition (although I am aware that people are wearing coats and jackets during the trailer). If so, a change in season similarly ushers in social/cultural change, or anticipates a transition. In Summer coming around, tensions rise with the heat, and the pressure amps up.
Importantly, the lake shows up multiple times throughout the trailer:
Tumblr media
The hammock clip looks incredibly domestic and peaceful, which is nice to see, considering the arc that Wille and Simon have been on in order to get to this point. It's something simple and perhaps (on appearance) not particularly narratively potent, but it is important if we consider the lake to be a place of nostalgia. The Wille and Simon who lounge here in Season 3 are different versions of the lads that they were in Season 1. And honestly? I think that they're going to grab at any moments of peace they can get without the looming presence of the press.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ohohoheheheheuegeuhuege- The big questions !
As well as being a place of tranquility, the lake provides an open space for Wille and Simon to talk without constraints. We have seen Simon be critical of the monarchy since S1, but (I think) that this is the first time where Simon openly directs his criticism to Wille and asks him outright. However, what I'm more interested in is what he follows it up with: "I've seen how it makes you feel."
Now, this could very well just be Simon remarking on how Wille has been in the past. He's seen him scared, stressed, worried, angry etc. But, it makes me wonder if this might be an inclination of Simon seeing it at it's worst with Wille's anxiety (and by extension - His panic attacks). Maybe Wille has fully let Simon in? Maybe he's shown him what he's been afraid to let anyone help him with?
Also - Simon is wearing what looks to be his purple shirt in this shot, which makes me think that this could possibly come after the palace visit?
Tumblr media
(Pretty sure that this is the lake so we're gonna go with it-)
The thing that is honestly ripping my brain apart is that this could be a response to a NUMBER of different things. In the trailer, it comes after Kristina says: "You supposed to be able to take over from me." But there could be a chance that this ^ is in response to something else:
You have to maintain a traditional image. What if I don't want to?
You have to choose. What if I don't want to?
You have to stop fighting. What if I don't want to?
The options are endless.
(Also, Wille is wearing the same coat here as he is in the hammock frame above ^^.)
Tumblr media
First of all, the trailer really is indulging us in some beautiful shots. Look at this lovely composition of land x water in a wide.
Secondly, my word. It seems remarkable that something as simple as this shot could summarise the goal of 3 entire seasons, because surely, this is it? This is all they wanted? The both of them, with a picnic, by a lake, with the sunset. That is all. None of the grandeur. None of the drama. None of the unwanted extras. Just this.
Which is why the next two shots appear more unnerving:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It looks so picturesque...and then we get these two close-ups. It's one of the few instances we receive where Wille and Simon are sharing a fraught moment and openly reacting to it in front of each other. They are unified in their experiences. But really, how else do you try to articulate what you and someone else have gone through in the past year? How do you explain that to someone who isn't either of you two?
No one else would have been under the same scrutiny or the same institutional rigidity or even the same stress as they have been forced to get through in just a number of months. They have both suffered, from the hands of others, as well as the hands of each other. There have been moments where hope was high, as well as moments where the end was not in sight.
And again, we're back at the lake. It persists. The sun is setting and so it’s late in the day. But it’s still this continuous, emblematic thread that connects interrelated sequences and bares witness to everything that goes on. It’s almost like an omniscient location.
I don't think that they would have shown anything from Ep 6 in the trailer, purely on the basis that it's separate from the other episodes. I could be wrong, but this seems like it would happen at the end of an episode, maybe episode 5? I'm unsure of how you could transition away from this because summarises the whole relationship. I can't say if Wille's "Is everything okay between us?” comes from this scene, because I just get the impression that they understand each other. The tears, the looks, the furrowed brows, the positions, it all seems like they have a mutual understanding that evades the need for speech. Perhaps it’s less of a checking in and more of a rhetorical question. Will it be okay?
_________
This part solely focussed on the lake so I'm hoping to write another post discussing other elements of the trailer. Nonetheless, I am very excited ! Anxious and sad to see it go, but I’m so happy that I was here for the whole ride and will see it to the end !

It has been suggested by a Disney Help Desk employee to make a Hulu Community listing for Willow. (Link Here)
Hulu Community is a place to recommend shows for Hulu to pick up. (I saw that Warrior Nun is also promoting their show on there.)
I would like to ask if y'all could take the time and vote on my suggestion. If we get enough votes, maybe Willow will be moved to Hulu! (And if we get a crazy amount of votes, maybe even a season 2.)
I would ask that you also vote for Warrior Nun. It currently only has 398 votes. (Heres the Link for Warrior Nun's petition)
Maybe if we work together, we can make Hulu the place for our beloved canceled shows!
PLEASE HELP SAVE WILLOW

Let Lockwood and co continue! The casting is perfect. Portland Row was just as the books described it. The ghosts were absolutely frightening, the effects beautifully made. The skull had just started talking. There is so much potential for new seasons!!

Okay but but hear me out, what kind of ritual or sacrifice do I have to make to whatever entity that allowed for Good Omens S2, RWRB, Heartstopper S2 AND young royals S3 to be a thing to negotiate the next tragic and chaotic pairing to be one Simon Oliver Snow and one Tyrannus Basilton Grimm-Pitch on our screens?? Bc… pretty pretty pretty pleaaaaase. Its beyond a want it’s a cosmic need.

More forms of media need to be treated like books I think. To my understanding, and I'm far from an expert on any of this, authors have more control and ownership of their works than the creators of shows and movies etc produced for or through various large corporations.
If a publisher decides to drop a book series, the author can continue releasing books in the series, they just have to swap publisher or self publish. They still own their work past and present. There might be issues getting the earlier books re-released, but continuing wouldn't be so much a problem.
I just feel this type of dynamic would at least partly solve the pandemic of so many queer universes getting killed of. Disney kills off The Owl House, and there's nothing that can be done about it. But had the series been a book series, and Dana was told Book 2 was the last Disney were willing to publish, Dana could have said, fine I'll publish Book 3 elsewhere.
There's probably to many "moving parts" in a tv series or movie for things to be this "simple", but I still think it'd make life a lot easier for creators and their fans.

(re)reading an American fantasy novel from the 1980s where the romantic hero from the 'free' (white) culture is like 'oh well WE only have slavery as a punishment for crime. slavery is very bad. don't you feel bad about the slavery' and wondering how intentional the self-own was
