AVAILABLE - Across The Fields’ - Downhall, Hatfield Heath More about this painting - During the windy, blustery Friday morning, I decided to go and paint in a field. I got attacked by nettles and it was too windy for the easel so I sat by the ditch and had a go. The water bottle down the dungarees helped but it was too cold to stay too long. Luckily for me there was a warm reception lovely Sheering dog walkers who always have time for a chat. Well this is the outcome. It’s a reminder to me to try to get out there again soon as the views around Sheering and Hatfield Heath are beautiful. Anyway, hope you like the painting. There is something magical about the sand and the surf and children being children. I always seem to have my best days at the beach. As a family, we have been very spoilt by travelling in our camper van and visiting the amazing beaches around the British Isles. Work in Progress - Southern Country Park I’ve been outside painting again trying to miss the rain. I was armed with lots of plastic bags to sit on and I managed to do a little sketch of the country park near Thorley. I hadn’t lovely chat with a little boy called Michal who was fascinated with the paint and my notebook (hi Michael Anna Olivia 😊😊😊😊... thanks for chatting to me and helping the time pass). The painting still needs some work but I thought you’d like to see the colours and the boldness at this stage. Sometimes you can carry on and kill the painting; sometimes you carry on and the magic happens. N O W S O L D 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻‘Three Sisters’ Another from my new abstract series. I’m all about the garden again and this reminds me of seeing those seeds and getting the garden ready to do its thing. I grow sweet corn, runner beans, tomatoes and spinach every year with varying success. One trusted tradition is the ‘three sisters’ method where you create supporting circles with three veg as they grow, namely sweet corn, runners and pumpkins. I love a bit of Monty Don and have been watching #gardenersworld and loving every minute of it. This painting is me tipping my hat to that method and all the buds that are getting their groove on (I don’t know what’s the matter with me today) to greet the sun. ‘A Rare, Rare Find’ This is my latest painting that I finished only a few days ago. It’s a combination of all the lovely places I have visited and painted in the last year or so. The sky, however, is not from memory or photos but was painted in situ over many evenings in April and some of May. It was a challenge but I’ve enjoyed it. The name of the painting has come from a song by the legend Nick Drake, ‘Time Has Told Me’. (Have a listen if you get a minute). I hope you like painting. ‘Sunset Promises’ - Walton-on-the-Naze I haven’t been to the beach for a few days but I have been lucky enough to paint Walton-on-the-Naze again. The sun has been glorious today, and what better way than to embrace its magnificence with a painting of the ever changing sunset. For anyone who’s ever tried a sunset painting, it’s really tough to do, especially if you paint outside and in the moment as I have been for a commission recently. You get about 20 minutes to capture the moment before it changes again. That’s why photography and sunsets are a match made in heaven. Problem solved (but the light changes; at least you can take your time though). 😊 This painting has been created using a photograph by RJS Photography who captures a lot of amazing scenes in Essex with his lens.
