Fun fact: I have listened to the Metallica Album “Ride the Lightning” enough times that my brain is fully convinced there is a narrative arc in the 8 song album, and the narrative concludes with Cthulhu stomping out mankind and destroying everything. (Yes i do stare into the abyss in bed and listen to one album on repeat for no reason while I contemplate non existent story lines)

Woke up today and suddenly wanted to listen to every album I've ever purchased, to dance around my kitchen, to write and draw and weave and create and LIVE!! I spent breakfast bopping around my kitchen, headbanging to Metallica's S&M album. Holy fuck, the sun is shining in my open windows and I can physically feel the seasonal depression morasse sloughing from my mind. I want to cry and it feels good!

A (poorly-researched) list of the three longest instrumentals in the album Ride the Lightning (shortest to longest):
The Call of Ktulu (8:54)
That instrumental in Ride the Lightning in between the two repeats of the bridge (about 2:15)
The intro to For Whom the Bell Tolls and the outro to Fade to Black (2:06 each)

Happy Birthday to the heartbeat of Metallica, Lars Ulrich! Let's dive into the wild ride of this legendary drummer's journey on his special day! #LarsUlrich #Metallica #DrummerBirthday
From his Danish roots to conquering the world's stages, Lars Ulrich's passion for music ignited early on. 🇩🇰 Growing up surrounded by eclectic sounds, who would've thought he'd become the driving force behind one of the greatest metal bands ever?
Metallica's birth was a cosmic collision of talent. Lars, along with James Hetfield, Cliff Burton, and Dave Mustaine, forged a brotherhood, unleashing their sonic fury upon the world. But why "Metallica"? Legend has it that Lars came up with the name while brainstorming – a perfect fusion of metal and intensity!
Fast forward to the '80s, and Metallica was riding the lightning of success. The album "Ride the Lightning" showcased their brilliance, featuring the instrumental masterpiece, "The Call of Ktulu." Ever wonder about the song's meaning? Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's mythos, it's a musical odyssey exploring the cosmic horror of the Great Old One, Cthulhu.
The idea for "The Call of Ktulu" emerged during a late-night jam session, a testament to Metallica's organic creativity. This instrumental gem became a timeless journey through soundscapes, showcasing their musical prowess and paving the way for future masterpieces.
As Metallica evolved, so did Lars Ulrich's influence. Beyond the metal realm, he ventured into collaborations with artists like Lou Reed, proving that his drumming prowess transcends genres.
And who can forget "Master of Puppets," the album that solidified Metallica's status as metal gods? With iconic tracks and mind-bending compositions, it remains a cornerstone of heavy metal history.
So here's to Lars Ulrich – a maestro, a visionary, and the man who helped shape the very fabric of metal! Let's celebrate the beat that keeps Metallica alive and rocking!
