How Near Dark should've ended

Caleb is sitting on the cure for vampirism and doesn't bring it up during the climax. How hard would it have been to be like "Hey, Homer, I got the cure for your vampirism. Wanna stop this Peter Pan shit? Just let my little sister go." Homer: "Wait, Jesse, call a truce!" Then the last 15 minutes is Homer getting his blood transfusion while Jesse, Diamondback, and Severen ride off into the sunset cuz they're perfectly content being bloodsuckers. Maybe Mae breaks Caleb's heart cuz she actually likes being immortal despite the distaste of killing. Speaking of her, I got the feeling that she only had a mild crush on Caleb that would've disappeared after a week. Poor Caleb just wanted to laid and got kidnapped by vampiric outlaws instead.

It took Severen a little over a hundred years to find you and come Hell or high water, you were his and no one else's.

When the Hooker Clan encountered another of their kind on the road, there was suspicion but also a sense of kinship.

He went by Jack and there was an undeniable magnetism about him. He wasn't half as old as Jesse and Severen, but he had his skills down well enough. He was a sharp shot and had a far more understated swagger unlike Severen's brash and bold kind.

He was certainly a handsome young devil, perhaps a few years older than Caleb when he was turned. He had blonde shaggy hair that he kept under a plain trucker cap, and dark brown eyes that gave him a thrilling intensity. He dressed modestly as to not stand out; just some worn down jeans with an un-tucked black shirt under a scuffed up brown leather jacket.

While everyone else in the Hooker Clan gave him a reserved kind of welcome, Severen was cold to him from the start. They were fascinated by him and asked plenty questions, having never come across another of themselves before. Even Jesse listened intently to his stories and tales from the road.

Severen often scoffed at any claims that seemed too impressive, Jesse shushing him so Jack could continue. You could tell it bothered him that even you listened to Jack's tales and were interested in them.

He'd often barge out of the place you all were staying to go for a walk. You'd follow, "Sev, what's wrong?" He'd groan, "I don't like this guy an I don't see why errybody's in there eatin' crumbs outta his hand." You smile and give his shoulder a nudge, "I'm not, just interestin' is all." But the minute you said interesting, you saw him grimace.

He didn't like Jack one bit and made it clear. If Jack looked at you a second too long, he would shoot him a look that could kill. If he saw Jack talking to you away from the group, he'd make a point of coming up and draping his arm over your shoulders and making an excuse for you to leave the conversation.

As Jack was starting to hang around more and more, Severen only became more hostile. He often assumed the worst of him even if he was trying to make a kind gesture. He always insinuated that Jack had ulterior motives.

If Jack even brushed your arm accidentally, Severen would berate him, "Hands off boy! She don't want ya touchin' er." Even you were like, "Sev, it's not even that big of a deal."

Eventually, Jack confronted him, "What's your problem with me, man?" Severen scowled, standing up tall and getting in his face in front of everyone, "I don't think yer all ya seem, friend..." Jack chuckled, "What do you think I'm doin'?" Severen sneered, "I see the way ya look at er. Don't play dumb." Jack chuckled as the room got tense, "You think I'm into your lady, huh?" Severen seethed, "Don't play that game, I know that's what yer doin--" Jack interrupted, "Actually, friend, I'm kind of pinin' for someone else here." Severen furrowed his brow in confusion and demanded, "Who?" Jack gave him a cheeky little grin and said, "Well... you..."

You had never seen Jesse laugh that hard in all your time knowing him. Tears were in his eyes and he couldn't stop chuckling about it. Everyone else started snickering as Severen only became more confused.

Caleb informed him, "He's gay Severen. You'd know that if you'd heard his stories."

You could hear Jesse start to laugh even harder in the background as Severen's scowl melted into dumbfounded look of shock.
