In an episode that was devastating for all the characters, I ended it feeling the most devastated for Nydas. 

Because whatever their reasons, in that end scene, Nydas was the only one actively protecting the Tree. Laerynn was trying to destroy it, Quay wouldn’t actively try to stop her, Zerxus and Patia both tried to walk the middle ground of ‘let me gather information before committing to an action’...

It was just Nydas. And he failed. 

And I think Lou’s comment that he never expected to be in this position is poignant. He expected Nydas to be on the hubris side of calamity-causing. He never expected Nydas to be the one person standing against it. 

Add that to the way Lou roleplayed him...just riddled with desperation, pleading, pleading, pleading, not wanting to hurt his friends, but not wanting the blood of an age to be on their hands...he was in a position he never expected and he tried so hard, but he failed, and I’m genuinely heartbroken for him.

Why does no one talk about this pasty ass bitch?

I get Astor is from Age of Calamity, a warriors game, and his short screentime doesn’t help get him much notice, but he’s a surprisingly good antagonist.

He’s got a appearance that’s an unholy union between Agahnim and Ghirahim, Zant’s mask of sanity, some genuine menace, and he actually intended to use Calamity Ganon AS HIS OWN WEAPON so he could be powerful. (Guess how that went?)

Sure he ain’t the charismatic Master Kohga, but there’s just something about this rat of a man that makes him work so well.

#small calamity pet peeve: it is a campaign about the calamity. they all contributed to it some way. none of them are solely responsible and #even as a group they’re not wholly responsible. this is bigger than them. the druids trust issues shielded the true nature of the ToN. #the oracles couldn’t handle it communicate their visions and deemed them false prophecy. #so posts saying XYZ *really* started the calamity (particularly laerryn)…. like ok?? and zerxus made a deal with satan. what of it. #the whole point is that this group is part of the triggering of the calamity what did you expect

Another mini theory I have

Remember how the original events of BOTW pre-calamity were kicked off by an unnamed prophet telling the King of Hyrule that the Calamity sealed 10,000 years ago would be released? Well, guess who just so happens to be present 10,000 years ago and went around telling all the Sages an enemy that they'd just fought a war against to seal away would be released in 10,000 years only to be fought back by a swordsman named Link. Zelda. I don't think we ever really were told it was Rhoam who was told the prophecy and 10,000 years is a long time for a prophecy given by word of mouth to be distorted into a completely different form...
