Hey diss!! In that last ask about Joel's mental health you said in the Part 1 remake they added details that showed Joel was suffering from anxiety. I've just started playing the remake; would you mind expanding on that? I'd love to look out for the things they added 🧡🧡🧡
Hey dude! Yeah they added a few things in the prologue. Before, if you looked at Joel's nightstand/dresser there were bottles that looked more like supplements (which explains the need to eat floor supplements) than actual medications. Now if you check them out, there are a few different types of pills that indicate Joel's been struggling with stress/anxiety management. I'll won't spoil what kind. (There might be more but I don't have a PS5 so I'll default to @caitsyoi and @elliesjournals who have an eye, and a ps5, for this investigation) Personally, I don't see it as a character retcon as I'm sure the more "Joel is a vicious man in a vicious world and they killed him to be woke" types believe. Joel's behavior has always been in line with someone who needs help, help he isn't going to get in the world he now lives in.
Good luck on your playthrough! please share (if you are comfortable with it) all your findings so I can have thoughts on them!

I recently reread (only me when i'm) with you, and I've just got to say it's one of my favorite YoI fics. The story is both simple and so deep at the same time, which is probably why I've read it so many times now. Which sounds weird now that I've typed that. Point is, I love so many of your stories, I just don't have room to type them out. In short, you make me want to get into other fandoms you write in, just so I have more. Just wanted to show my appreciation, hopefully non creepily.
asdfghjkl, thank you so much! It was inspired by a prompt in a Discord server and I wrote it very quickly, but I’m fond of it too--it feels very true to Yuuri and Viktor.
Thank you so much, I appreciate it! (And hey, if you ever feel like hopping on the Bakudeku wagon, we’ll save you a seat.)

People always talk about Victor and Yuuri as grooms, but I think they'd be cute best men too. Victor would take Chris to a strip club for his bachelor party, but then would end up just talking about how sexy Yuuri is and how he is the greatest dancer ever. If Yuuri isn't there, there would eventually be drunk dialing to profess his profound love and everlasting loyalty. Chris would think it was hilarious when Victor responds to dance requests with drunken declarations of love for his husband.
bless you!!!! thank you for this message!!!! it is wonderful and brightens up the day! viktor is britney spears gay and chris is lady gaga gay and together they are unstoppable. by the end of the night everybody in the club knows the name of yuuri katsuki-nikiforov and chris is wailing, shirtless, about how happy he is to finally be marrying his hot choreographer?manager? boyfriend while viktor dabs his tears away with a black thong. yuuri shows up in six-inch heels with a bottle of champagne in one hand and chris’ fiancé in the other and calls them a taxi.
‘thank you so much,’ says viktor. ‘i love you so much. how did you know?’
‘you have me on speed-dial,’ yuuri says. ‘you called me three times. we had an entire conversation about beyoncé’s lemonade and two strippers proposed to me over the phone.’
‘HOW COULD I FORGET,’ viktor sobs.
(chris and his fiancé are making out passionately on a table)

Your fluff warms this cold, cold heart. If you don't mind, can you tell me a boring fact about Viktor or Yuuri that no one knows? If you want to do both that is acceptable! (Also if you want to completely ignore this, that is understandable.) Either way thank you for being awesome.
Obviously these are just headcanons, oh and ps I decided to forgo boring and just went with something cute and fluffy ^-^
Yuuri: he really likes being the big spoon because he gets to hold Victor and also Victor fricken loves being held by Yuuri and Yuuri loves how he loves that, so yeah. Big spoon Yuuri!
Victor: Victor will sometimes hide Yuuri’s glasses because he finds it adorable when Yuuri walks around squinting at everything. Yuuri knows Victor does this but it’s not like he can do anything about it because he can’t fricken see

Kiaronna! Another wonderful person on Tumblr told me to check out The Power of Love when I was looking for a particular type of angst, and it was exactly what I needed! Like, almost painfully so. I was wanting to rip out my hair and scream at them tobjist friggin talk, but at the same time I wanted to see more. So thank you for being so damn awesome. Now I must ask, can you tell me one boring fact about Victor and Yuuri that no one knows?
HI YES. I’m so flattered that somebody recommended it? The Power of Love was angsty for me to write. I honestly am not sure what type of angst it classifies as, though? Probably mutual pining. Mutual pining is my drug of choice, too, friend.
JUST FRIGGIN TALK KIDS IT’D FIX EVERYTHING. Except sometimes they talk and it gets worse so....
ANYWAY hmmm. I’m not sure if you want these HCs specifically in PoL’s universe, or in the YOI universe in general. Firstly, I just have to tell you that there are no boring facts about Viktor and Yuuri-- at least as far as their fiances are concerned. I’m gonna say that Viktor is actually very good at impressions, and his favorite type of comedians are people who do impressions. You might imagine that this stems from the fact that he used to be a performative person-- meaning he had to act out emotions/cover emotions up. It’s actually because Viktor is a crowd-pleaser who’s good at accents, and also at paying attention to people’s quirks. Yuuri’s boring fact is that he’s one of those people who enjoys freezer-burn ice cream (I am also one of these people) because it’s crunchy and it’s comforting to chew things. Also, the flavor reminds him of rinks... somehow.
A ViktorandYuuri fact that nobody knows is that Yuuri occasionally gets to dress Viktor, even though Yuuri’s idea of fashion is usually ‘whatever is clean and comfortable.’ Look, Yuuri tries very hard. He stares and stares at their shared closet and thinks about color schemes and fashion ‘rules’ he’s heard of in the past. (”Plaid and stripes is a no, right?” He asks on one occasion. “I would rather be naked,” says Viktor immediately in response. “That really doesn’t mean much,” Yuuri muses, unaffected. “But probably a no.”)
Then, Yuuri carefully selects an outfit he thinks would look ravishing on his Vitya, and Viktor just has to put it on. He does not say a word. He will probably have to exit the house wearing it, too.
Do they get stopped by paparazzi on some of these days?? Yes. Does it have every fashion magazine in an uproar over ‘hot or not?’ Absolutely. Luckily for Yuuri’s fashion sense, Viktor has that Rihanna magic: it’s not fashion until Viktor says it’s fashion.
“What do you credit for inspiring your invention of what is now known as the ‘baggy bourgeois’ look?” All the reporters want to know.
“Our closet light was broken from closet... activities,” says Viktor, oh-so-subtly. “So Yuuri felt around for whatever material he wanted me to wear that morning, and we made history.”

*excited screaming* I'm so excited for more fake relationship AU and the Rivals Chris POV! The first because I need to see them realise they both like each other, and the second because I've wanted to see Chris's perspective since I first read UMFB/OBSBH. I don't really have anything to ask, I'M JUST SO EXCITED
Thank you!! I’ve been meaning to write a Chris POV for Rivals for so long now because I’ve had in my head what he was thinking all the time I was writing both  but I’ve never put it down on paper before. So that will be really fun to finally write. And as for the fake relationship AU, there’s more of that coming very soon!

Requesting DVD Commentary for Tether, from "He'll fight" to "He's all I have". I'm interested in this whole scene really, but I tried to narrow it down a little. :D
[this is for the DVD commentary fanfic ask game here. Send me an excerpt from any of my stories if you want to hear my thought process behind it!]
Thank you Cait! I have a lot to say about this story, so the majority of this is going under a read more lol. I hope no one minds if I include a few lines before your selection starts for context, also.
(Link to the story here!)
“I’ll be twenty-six. And that’s only if he makes it that long.”
Yuuri is on eggshells. He fidgets. “Your grandfather seems really stubborn.”
“Yeah, well, his heart apparently isn’t.”
“He’ll fight—”
“So what?” He turns his head, trying to bore a hole through Yuuri now. “Ten years, twelve years, what’s the difference? He’s almost eighty.”
Yuuri tries his best to make his voice sound gentle. “Ten years is a long time. A decade…”
“Fuck, Katsudon, that’s not the point.” His eyes are red and wild and growing more so by the second. “Ten years, and where will I be? Still training. Still competing. You know I hadn’t seen him since Rostelecom?”
One of the greatest things about this show, in my opinion, is all of the different types of love it showcases. Yes, Yuuri and Viktor’s love story is at the center, but we have a whole supporting cast of characters that love our main characters and each other, as sons or brothers or grandchildren or adopted sons-in-laws, and are loved in return. Yuri loves his grandfather. This is very clear from the first few episodes, when Nikolai is Yuri’s inspiration for Agape, and Nikolai so clearly loves Yuri - I mean, Yuri mentions pork cutlet bowls one time in passing and Nikolai goes home that day and invents katsudon pirozhki.
But I think it’s also glaringly clear from the show that Nikolai is Yuri’s only support network. His mother is obviously not in the picture, to say nothing of his father. And they haven’t lived in the same city since Yuri was, what, ten or eleven? And how often can Yuri possibly see him, for a few weeks during the off season? Once a year at Rostelecom?
Figure skating is Yuri’s passion, it’s something he loves enough to dedicate his life to it, but it also demands incredible sacrifice. It demands money, time, and your body. (“If selling my soul is what it takes to win, I’ll give you this body, no holds barred.”)
Yuri’s point in this excerpt, as he says, is that it doesn’t matter if his grandfather surpasses everyone’s expectations and lives longer than the max ten years of the doctor’s prognosis. Whether Yuri realized it before or not, whether he was just avoiding thinking about it, he can’t avoid it now: his grandfather is old and his grandfather will die. Yuri has very limited time with him. His grandfather likely won’t live to see Yuri’s entire figure skating career. There’s a clock staring him in the face now, counting down from ten with the knowledge that it could be longer or shorter but that his grandfather, the man who raised him and supports and loves him, will be gone by the time Yuri is Viktor’s age.
So, effectively, Yuri feels torn in two directions, between his love of his grandfather and his love of skating. He feels like he can’t have both. He feels like he’s sacrificed his grandfather in pursuit of the ice. He feels guilty but also sick looking at the future and knowing this isn’t going to change. He can’t give up one or the other. And he’s already wasted so much precious time without even realizing it.
There it is.
Vicchan’s in Yuuri’s head, then, as small and soft and bouncingly happy as the day Yuuri left him for Detroit and, as it turns out, never saw him again. He nods and tries to get his voice to work around the lump in his throat.
“Okay. I understand.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a character have this conflict. Yuuri ‘sacrificed’ his relationship with his beloved Vicchan in pursuit of his skating career– he leaves Hasetsu at 18 and for some reason never comes back even to visit. He missed precious time with someone/something he loved because he was far away pursuing his dream. You can’t make that time back up. You can’t change it. And Yuuri probably understands that part of what has Yuri so freaked out is that this could have been worse than just a scare - his grandfather could have actually died this time, and Yuri wouldn’t have had the chance to say goodbye or even have seen him once in the time leading up to his death, just like Yuuri didn’t with Vicchan.
Yuri’s not talking anymore. He’s looking away, white fingers balled in white sheets. His knees are drawing closer to his chest, making him smaller, smaller, until Yuuri notices a fine tremor ripple through the boy’s shoulders.
“Yura…”
There’s a low noise, barely discernable, from Yuri’s throat that means nothing and everything at the same time. On the wall, the banner encourages davai, Yuri! and his eyes are searching every other part of the room but there.
I wanted to write this story partially for this scene. This entire story is Yuri struggling with being vulnerable, and in this scene he’s finally breaking down but he’s still fighting at every step. Yuuri, though he’s used to crying more so than Yuri (especially in front of others), understands this struggle to hold himself together very well. He has a lot of empathy for Yuri in this moment.
When he finally speaks it’s in Russian, hometown accent barely there as his voice cracks and curls in on itself.
“He’s all I…”
Yuuri wants to not understand, but he does anyway. He reaches out before he can stop himself, his hand finding Yuri’s balled into a fist around the sheets. There’s that noise again, like something choked back, and Yuri’s chin falls to his chest. Behind locks of straw-like hair, his eyes are screwed shut.
The hand lets go of the sheets and makes a fist around Yuuri’s fingers, instead. A breath, then, barely audible:
“He’s all I have.”
Yuuri understands feeling like you’re fighting alone. Even with his massive support system (something Yuri doesn’t share) he knows how terrifying and pressure-inducing those feelings can be. Soon after this, he will reassure Yuri that even if he feels like he’s alone, he isn’t.
It just comes down to the fact that Yuri is scared. He’s only sixteen and he feels responsible for taking care of his grandfather now, which is a common role reversal in parent-child relationships but Yuri is extraordinarily young to be dealing with this, and has absolutely no other family to lean on. Plus, he lives far away, hasn’t seen him in months, and knows now that their time is limited. He’s terrified.
Yuuri doesn’t try to fix it. He can’t change the situation, no matter how shitty it is. But what he does, and what he has been doing since the beginning of the story, is refusing to let Yuri feel like he’s fighting alone. He is being Yuri’s support network (or at least a representative in Moscow of Yuri’s support network that is comprised of himself, Viktor, Yakov, Lilia, etc). He listens to Yuri, tries to help in any way he can, and makes sure this boy who is little more than a child knows that there are many people who love him and will help him if he will just let them.
It doesn’t change the fact that Nikolai is Yuri’s only blood family. It doesn’t change the fact that he will be dead before Yuri retires. But it does help.
(This turned more into an in-depth analysis than it did a DVD-style commentary on what I was thinking as I wrote it and how it all came to be. All of that is a bit too personal, though, so we’re gonna stick with meta-analysis lol)

Your artwork is so beautiful. I followed you for what I've seen in BMAAHD but I love everything you've posted. One random question, do you plan on drawing any Yurio for BMAAHD? Mostly because I've come to have a lot of appreciation for him both in canon and fanon, and also because I love everything you do.
Ok first off I’m sorry this reply is like, 2 months late and also thank you so much💕
I’m planning to draw Yurio in BMAAHD within the next few chapters, and I’m excited for it!!! I’ll be drawing him aged up though, since everyone in the AU is aged up by 4 years :) He might actually be taller than Viktor in this AU… still an angry hell-cat though

ayabai, I love your headcanons and your art! If you don't mind, can you tell me one boring fact about Victor or Yuuri that no one knows?
Thank you @caitsyoi you are the sweetest!
1 boring fact about Victor that no one knows: He has spent at least 12 hours of his life watching this video with a completely straight face.
1 boring fact about Yuri that no one knows: He gets severe anxiety from point cards but he gets even higher anxiety from turning down point cards so he has about 800 point cards that have only been stamped once, shame buried beneath his mattress. When Victor finds them at some point snooping in Yuri’s childhood bedroom, because of where they've been hidden, and because he can’t really read Japanese, he asks Yuri if it’s some kind of weird sex thing.

YoI ficlet prompt: Yuuri's reaction to Victor growing facial hair. Can be anything from a stubble to a full on beard.
Yuri first noticed it the third day of their vacation in the Nikiforov family dacha: the scratch against his skin as Victor nuzzled into the crook of his neck for early morning kisses.
It wasn’t anything he hadn’t encountered before. Victor’s facial hair was fine and grew slowly so most didn’t notice it at all He figured Victor would shave that morning and instead pulled Victor in for more kisses.
However he noticed it again that afternoon when running his fingers along Victor’s jaw after a pleasant stroll through the countryside.
“Vitya?”
“Hmm?”
“Did you forget to shave?
Victor’s hand traced up to his face and he laughed. “I guess it is noticeable now.”
“Are you growing it out?”
Victor turned to Yuri and smiled. “Not on purpose. Somehow my razor broke in my luggage on the way here. I looked for a decent replacement when we were in the village the other day, but they don’t have the brand I like. I figured it grows so slow it would be ok until we got back to Saint Petersburg.”
Yuri chuckled. “You know you can use another brand for a few days.”
Victor feigned insult. “And have razor bumps? Yuri, this is my face we’re talking about.”
Yuri smiled and Victor’s dramatics and pulled him in for a kiss, noting the way the stubble scratched at his lips.
The next day Yuri expected Victor’s stubble to even out a bit, but instead it felt even stubblier under his fingertips. The roughness felt like a million pinpricks, making him pull back slightly.
“Yuri?” Victor asked after he squirmed away from another kiss.
“Sorry Vitya,” Yuri said. “It’s just scratchy.”
The third day started better, but still a bit scratchy for Yuri’s taste. He thought Victor had gotten over the refusals of the day before, but he quickly learned of his fiance’s revenge when he was cornered in the bedroom.
“I’m very disappointed in you Yuri...” Victor drawled, running his fingers along Yuri’s jaw. “You let something as minor as a bit of facial hair come between us.”
Yuri’s eyes widened. Victor spoke of disappointment, but his tone dripped with lust.
Victor leaned in, stubble brushing near Yuri’s ear as he spoke. “I’m going to give you a reason to love my scratchy beard.”
The inside of Yuri’s thighs stung for days after that, until they returned to Saint Petersburg, but Yuri didn’t care. He’d decided that-- once in a while-- it was ok for Victor to grow out his beard.

I want to follow the path of Katsukism, but I wonder where Victor fits in this religion? Is he the Nirvana to be attained? Or is he rebirth? Something else?
Victor “tiddies out for love” Nikiforov is the High Priest of Katsukism.
He is one of the lights showing us the way towards properly understanding the loveability of our lord, Yuuri Katsuki.
The full and transcendent state of loving Yuuri Katsuki enough is a heaven we have yet to fully achieve, but Victor “booty shorts are my calling” Nikiforov is the closest to achieving it.

Yuuri would let his wild side loose for Phichit's bachelor party. Phichit's social media that night would be historic. There would be selfies at every bar, and video of them drunkenly singing music from the King and the Skater. They'd perform parts of their favorite routines on the sidewalk. Inevitably, Yuuri wouls have to show off his pole dancing skills in a private Snapchat to Victor. Victor would also get increasingly sappy and thirsty drunk texts from Yuuri during the course of the night.
