Euphorbia euphoria
Was sent this by a friend:
Tumblr media
which is a reference to this:
Tumblr media
namely, the fact that the wild mustard Brassica oleracea, once domesticated, produced a bewildering variety of vegetables by selecting each cultivar for a different part (cabbages from terminal buds, Brussels ssprouts from lateral buds, broccoli and cauliflower from flower buds, kale from leaves, and so on), all of them still being technically part of the same species, Brassica oleracea var. whatever.
Now, as far as I know, nobody has bred B. oleracea into a tree. But there is, not quite a single species, but a genus, that has gotten pretty close to that kind of internal morphological diversity:
Behold Euphorbia, the genus of spurges, counting over 2000 species (that nevertheless are often capable of interbreeding) scattered throughout all continents:
Tumblr media
Euphorbia dendroides (Mediterranean)
Tumblr media
The poinsettia, Euphorbia pulcherrima (Central America)
Tumblr media
Euphorbia actinoclada (East Africa)|, one of the many cactus-like species (cacti proper are all American species except one, so if you see a cactus-like plant in an African or Asian deserts, odds are it's actually a kind of euphorbia)
Tumblr media
Euphorbia trigona (Central Africa)
Tumblr media
Euphorbia myrsinites (Southeast Europe)
Tumblr media
Euphorbia obesa (South Africa)
Tumblr media
Euphorbia ferox (South Africa)
Tumblr media
Euphorbia ampliphylla (East Africa) (source)
Tumblr media
Euphorbia aphylla (Canary Islands)
Tumblr media
Euphorbia helioscopia (Eurasia and Africa)
And so on, and so on...

Another round of random creep headcanons
Because I'm not in a productive headspace and still want to write new content
Jane and Jeff while working under Slender have a truce, and while they definitely aren't friends and don't have the best relationship, there is one topic in which Jane will broach with him regularly; hair care products. Jeff has some of the best hair in the mansion (even to the extent that Jason asks him what products he uses), and so Jane, who is on a never-ending journey to be the most stylish person in the mansion, one day caved and asked him what his hair care routine was. Jeff was baffled and shocked about the whole thing, but now it's become routine that whenever he tries something new that works, he tells her about the product. Sometimes he gets her her own as a gift, but Jane gets too self-conscious about receiving gifts from him, so she always gets him a gift of equal value.
Brian got Tim to start doing face masks. Brian has always taken good care of his skin, and he finds the prospect of face masks to be very relaxing, so he's gotten Tim to start doing them as well, and much to Tim's chagrin, his skin is looking and feeling better than ever, and it is actually an incredibly relaxing way to spend your time. The others used to tease him for it, but having your ass beat by a hunky, angry man with a face mask is an experience you find hard to forget, so everyone started leaving him alone about it. You'll find him relaxing next to Brian, face mask on, eyes closed, iced sweet tea in hand, just calming down after a long day. People still can't help but chuckle at him for it though, considering he looks like such a dad while he's doing it.
Liu and Slender have overtaken the mansion with their Plant DadTM habits. Slender has an incredibly huge garden surrounding the mansion that he's worked on so hard over the years, and Liu shares the same aspirations for plants, with his bedroom being completely decked out in a variety of plants, but now the two of them have combined and decorated the rest of the mansion in plants as well. Flowers, indoor trees, succulents, cacti, any type of plant you can imagine, they have it somewhere in the mansion. They both split duties on caring for them, and all of the plants are flourishing wonderfully, and they honestly do bring a lot of life into the mansion. Sometimes the others will pitch in to help every now and then too, but it's usually Liu and Slender pulling most of the weight with them.
Jason has gotten into the arts recently, and his main area of focus has been sculpting. He started out with things like cups and plates, but recently, he's been trying to seriously challenge himself, and he's been trying to make sculptures of all of the other resident's faces. It's difficult and time-consuming, but it's something that relaxes him at the end of the day. So far, he's completed sculptures of Slender, Helen, Pup, and Toby, and he's currently working on EJ and Jane. It's a good hobby for him with his attention to detail and artistic capabilities. He does his absolute best to get them as accurate as possible, including every single scratch or scar or dimple on all of their faces. He sculpts down to just below their chests as well, so he thinks it's fun to come up with tops for them to be wearing in the sculptures as well, and he likes doing different textures for different clothing.

May I request Epel, Ace, Deuce and Jack with a gardener reader that plants and grows her own fruits and vegetables?
Awww! little gardener Reader!
so sorry for the lateness on requests!! Trey has been busy with school again-
Tumblr media
Ace
He pretends he doesn't care, but in reality, he thinks its really cute that you have your own little garden. There are times where he can't help but watch you wander around checking on your flowers and crops, watering them or pulling out weeds when needed. you sometimes bring him flowers freshly picked from your garden, and sometimes vegetables too. He now refuses to eat any kind of store bought vegetable. They have to be your home grown ones or he will not even lay a hand on that plate. He also enjoys your fruits as well, the cherries you grow always taste so sweet, and they're perfect for cherry pie, so if you can bake too, make sure you make him some, he'll love you forever after that! He also finds it so cute whenever you come back inside from gardening, and you've got dirt and grass all over you, he makes fun of you for it. (lovingly)
Deuce
He finds it so adorable! Also very convient as well, seeing as you don't really have to buy store bought vegetables or fruits, and the flowers are always so pretty to him. He's willing to help out in the garden if you ever need it. Need some plants watered fast? he's got his own watering can and is ready to help! Need help harvesting fruits? he's got a ladder ready to climb up and grab any high up fruits for you. Can't get some stupid weed out of the ground? He'll use his strength to pull it out for you! He's so helpful and you're always so grateful for it. He doesn't mind getting a bit of soil and dirt on his hands if it means he can spend time with you and help you out! He's also happy to recieve any flowers you give him, and he'll try his absolute best to take care of them well!
Epel
He's got a bit of experience in farming himself, seeing as he is from Harveston... which literally has "Harvest" in the name... Also slightly reminds me about Harvest Moon or Animal Crossing... He's especially experienced with dealing with the fruits, he'd be happy to help you out a bit, and he loves the apples that you grow so much, they always turn out so sweet and perfectly ripe. I'd like to imagine you have almost all 7,500 different varieties of apples growing in your lovely garden, and him being able to try all these different types always makes him happy and excited! Though he isn't particularly experienced in the flowers department, if you gift him any from your garden, he'll try his best to care for them!
Jack
Seeing as he has his own cacti, he must know quite a bit about gardening, so I'm sure he wouldn't mind helping you if you asked him nicely. Need the plants watered? Sure, he can help. Stupid weeds again? He's got it covered. He also enjoys the large assortment of fruits and vegetables you have. He always makes sure to come by for some food every now and then, he just can't resist the taste of your home grown foods! If you were to give him flowers, he'll take care of them as if they were his own children, and if they do wilt... he'll be sad...
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Fun fact about Trey... Trey also has their own tiny garden around their house- its been unused for a few years now tho

Lesser Long-nose Bat (Leptonycteris yerbabuena)
With tongues as long as their bodies, these pollinators are able to sip on the nectar of cacti and agave flowers.
These desert nectar-feeding bats are true heroes in maintaining fragile desert ecosystems in the southwestern United States and Mexico. They are the primary night pollinators of both the organ pipe and saguaro cactus. In turn, growing up to 50 feet in height, the cacti provide important nesting and perching sites for a variety of birds, such as red-tailed hawks, elf owls, Gila woodpeckers, and gilded flickers.
The National Park Service promotes bat conservation through research, educational projects, and working with multiple private, non-profit, and federal and state agency partners.
Next time you see beautiful saguaro blooms or fruit this summer, make sure to thank a bat!

I was going to make one big post with all the cactus flowers from the past few weeks, but this is a new plant I'm obsessed with. One of the local nurseries got a shipment of various Echinocereus. This was labeled E. viridiflorus, which I knew was wrong (size, appearance, buds much too large), but the buds also looked too large to be E. triglochidiatus, the other species they had. So I took it home, and the brown buds eventually opened to beautiful coral flowers. This is a hybrid, possibly one of the naturally occurring ones like x lloydii or x roetteri. Both are supposed to be crosses of E. coccineus (typically red-flowered) and E. dasyacanthus (typically yellow-flowered), with the main distinction apparently being where the population originated. The hybrids are fertile and display tons of variety in spination, size, and flower color. Like all cacti, this one is extremely popular with our native pollinators. I'm hoping it sets fruit!

Pokemon Fun Facts!
As with most Starter Pokemon, the Chikoritas handed out by Professors and other accepted authorities are the wild-type: medium-small, sturdy, with large head-leaves and bright but plain colouration and minimal ‘decoration’. But Chikorita is one of the easier ‘mons to breed into a whole variety of shapes and patterns, and as a result there is a significant population of Chikorita morphs out there!
LIke Turtwig, they can display variegation on their leaves, and the variegation can be either a paler version of their usual colour or displaying their Shiny colour in patches. It also comes in a variety of patterns! You can also find Chikorita with ruffled leaves, and differently shaped leaves, and extra leaves, and ‘succulent’ Chikorita- which are not true succulents, because unlike with the Turtwig line Chikorita cannot grow them, but are thicker and resemble cacti pads in shape- and ‘teacup’ Chikorita bred to be much smaller, and Chikorita which have different scents! The fun shapes and colours are most often used for Contests, but some people simply like to keep them as pets; very few of them are suitable for significant battling.
The majority of these morphs are perfectly healthy and ethically bred, but of course not everyone is ethical, and some mutations can lead to greater care needs- particularly very pale morphs, deliberate albinism, and Shiny colouration, including fully-coloured Shinies. Most of these are to do with the Chikorita’s ability to photosynthesise, and a failure to gain enough energy from sunlight can interfere with evolution; Bayleef rely on energy gained in their pre-evolved form, since their leaf is smaller and their colouration duller. Teacup Chikorita are also prone to joint problems, which not only interferes with their natural behaviour but any Contest dreams they or their trainer may have- despite being so stumpy, Chikorita are surprisingly nimble and normally capable of quite a few impressive gymnastics, and bad joints will put paid to that.
Sadly as well, there is quite the market in unethically bred Chikorita shipped to places where restrictions on breeding are tighter or, like Paldea, where entry of the species in general is restricted. Although Galar admits Chikorita quite freely for a non-native species, we have a few seized Chikorita staying at our Sanctuary! People certainly love to push their luck.

If possible could you extend on the ask/request that was the reader being Ghost’s neighbor. I absolutely adored it and would love to see a continuation or a drabble of another encounter of them together! 💚
I'M SO GLAD YALL LIKE IT!!! It's honestly so cute to write!
Hello again! and Again! (Ghost x Reader)
Tumblr media
Word Count: 1033
Rating: C for Cacti :D
It's been a few days since Simons first encounter with his very own friendly neighbor (y/n). To be honest, he enjoyed those moments of the day. Besides coming over and chatting once two or three days ago, both have been exchanging hellos every day!  If it be him getting his mail and from across away he hears her "Good morning, Simon! How are you?" She's there always doing something, either getting the mail as well of tending to a small garden she has.  Day after day she would ask a variety of things. She would ask about his work, if he has plans, if he slept well, or if he needed anything. Day after day, Simon felt himself finding a reason to go outside, especially on no-mail days.
On one particular day, he was taking some stuff out from his shed to maybe start an outside project. After setting down his supplies, he heard a familiar voice from afar, "Good morning, Simon!"
He looked over and waved, "Morning."
"What ya planning there!" She points at what from afar can only be the supplies in front of him. "Are you going to do something out front too!"
He nodded, "I've been thinking about it... we'll see how it goes." She skipped on over, a bubbly smile across her face. She observed the stuff he was taking out. "You didn't have to come over... it's just supplies, for now..."
"Well, I kind of want to guess what you're making!" She inspected the tools closely. "Are you making a garden too!" She hopped back up, her eyes practically filled with stars due to the excitement. Simon sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. He's always been a cold tough man, not one to expect a garden from.
"Y-yeah, a cactus garden..." she gasped lightly, then began to cackle which turned into a small giggle. Simon scrunched his shoulders, more embarrassed than before. "What's so funny?"
"Nothing, nothing!" She calmed herself, "I just find it does fit for you to have a cactus garden. It's perfect for you!"  She turned back to him, and he eased up.
"You think so?"
"Yeah! I think a cactus represents you a lot!" (Y/n) exclaimed, she moved her finger in the air as if drawing pictures as she talked, "you know how cacti are all prickly and stuff! But on the inside, they are cozy places that birds use for homes and some others get water! I think that perfectly explains you!"  Simon stared at her for a while, not really sure what she meant by her entire speech. She shyly looked to the side, "what I'm trying to say is that you're cold exterior but you know besides the pointy bits you're really cool..."
"Oh..." Simon's face felt warm, his chest filled with butterflies, "thanks, don't really get stuff like that."
"I can tell," she says playfully nudging his shoulder. "Oh, by the way! Are you heading out of your house any time today?" Simon slowly looks at her, his face filled with suspicion.
"Why? You aren't planning to welcome yourself in, are you?" Simon crossed his arms, though she couldn't see it under his mask; He's smirking right now.  "Don't think I forgot your sneaky little skill there, neighbor."
"Pft, huh, what!" She laughed, "how dare you accuse me of such foul things!" She dramatically turns away, holding her hand to her face as if she was crying. She laughed and turned back to him; Simon was trying hard not to laugh with her. "But anyways, my dear neighbor, I'm actually not committing a B&E today"
"Insinuating that you have done a B&E before?" She lifted her finger to her lip and winked. Which visibly shocked Simon. "You serious?"
"You ain't a snitch huh?" She puffed up her chest.
"Never"
"Good, not like it matters." She shrugged her shoulders, "it's been years since the one time I did it, back in school when my ex had cheated on me."
"Bloody hell, the lad must learned his lesson after that one."
"Ya bet he did," she huffed, "but anyway I was actually going to knock on your door. Hence you need to be home to open it."
"Why are you coming over?" (Y/n) grabbed his shoulders, shaking her head.
"Simon... my friend, you're asking too many questions."
"I've only asked one..."
"One too many. Your answer should be 'oh sure, my lovely neighbor!' The lovely neighbor part is optional."
"Oh, so am I taking orders from you now?"
"I wouldn't say orders, ya' know..." she tapped her chin, "more like humble suggestions!"
"Uh huh... sure," Simon knelt down again grabbing some of the tools he took out, "all I'll say is no, I don't have any plans. Do with that as you wish."
"Okay! See you later then!" He heard her scurry off, presumably to her house. He couldn't help but feel that she was overly excited about this.
Hours passed, and some weird beeping throughout the day, Simon got some outside work done! Now he rests inside holding a nice cup of coffee. The next thing on his mental list was to buy some cacti. Looking online for different cacti he could think of getting. Glancing outside, it was close to evening, and still no knock at the door. "Hope she's okay..."
As if on cue, a frantic knocking came from the door. He sighed, placing his cup of coffee on the table. Opening the door, there she was taking deep breaths. Her clothes looked as if they had flour stains, even some left on her face. "What in the world happened to you?"
She laughed awkwardly raising a plate with her hands, "cookies, wanna share?" Simon looked at the cookies in silence, a little burnt on the edges but they looked really good.
"Was the beeping I've heard throughout the day a smoke alarm?" She raised the plate to cover her face. Simon couldn't help as a hearty laugh escaped his lips. "Come on, those cookies aren't going to eat themselves. Made a fresh pot of coffee too if you want."
"Sure, but next time I'm making you my famous hot coco." Simon shook his head as he closed the door behind her.
THERE YALL GO I HOPE YOU LIKE IT BYEEEEE!!!! <3

Desert Hannibal AU
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am 100% convinced Hannibal should have taken place in the desert!! Even if we keep the show in the U.S., there is such a cool variety of deserts there! The symbolism and cinematography you could create would be soooo cool!! Imagery of death and decay/mummification and warm colors and skeletons and survival and deadly extremes and blood watering parched ground and dark thunderstorms and eerie cold winter nights and dust storms and flash floods and clear galaxy skies and strange plants/creatures!!!
---------------------
[Image description: A mood board consisting of desert images and edits of pictures from NBC's Hannibal. The first image is a cow skull laying in some dead grass in a desert. The second image is an edit of Hannibal, wearing a tan suit, standing on a path among mountains in the Sonoran desert. Next image: An edit of Will and Jack looking up at the human pole. They are standing in the Sonoran desert with monsoon rains in the distance. Next, an image of a desert jaguar with spots roaming a desert. Then, a picture of the Mojave desert with a small rocky mountain and a sand dune. Next, an edit of Will and Abigail fishing in Sedona, with bright red rocks in the background. Next, an edit of Hannibal chopping food in his kitchen. The back glass door and window show a nighttime thunderstorm with lightning and cacti. Next, an photo of a coyote standing among cacti in a desert. Then, a photo of the Sonoran desert and cacti covered in snow. Next, an edit of the Hannibal characters at the crime scene of the human pole. Investigators are looking for clues. They are in the Mojave desert with a mountain in the background. Next, an edit of Hannibal and Will sitting on chairs in the Sonoran desert during a sunset, similar to the scene where they are sitting in chairs in the forest. Then, an image of a cactus skeleton. Next, a photo of a Gila Monster reptile eating something. Then, an edit of Jack and Will at the crime scene of the woman impaled on a deer head. They are in the Chihuahuan desert with bright red sand. Next, an edit of Will and Hannibal sitting and eating a meal in Hannibal's dining room. The glass doors behind them have been edited, and you can see a mountain horizon and the galaxy and stars in the sky. Lastly, an image of a tan snake partially buried in sand. End image description.]

“The few flowers in the garden other than roses had survived—bellflowers, a couple of spiny cacti, some gentians. They bloomed discreetly, as though embarrassed to have been spared. The breeze seemed to discriminate, choosing only the rose petals to scatter.
A rose garden without roses was a meaningless, desolate place, and it was terribly sad to see the trellises and other signs of all the care that had been lavished on the flowers. The murmur of the river did not reach me here and the rich, soft soil made a pleasant sound underfoot. With my hands thrust in my pockets, I wandered across the hill as though walking through a cemetery of unmarked graves.
In years past, I had carefully studied the stems, leaves, and branches and had read the tags that identified the different varieties, but I realized now that I was already unable to remember what this thing called a rose had looked like.”

The Grand Eureka Colony Tour!
It's here at last! The Grand Finale Colony tour! Woo! I'm very proud of this colony, I hope you like it too.
For a sample, let's begin with a shot of the whole of Eureka:
Tumblr media
Ta-dah! Isn't it gorgeous? It's a very big colony, so once again I'm going to put the rest of it under the cut so it won't clog up people's dashboards with my screenshots and rambling.
Tumblr media
Starting on the left, we've got our first animal pens. The large pen is home to a variety of animals, listed as follows:
Laser, Dominator, Tryst, Clementine, Quintin, Nikita, Safari, Excalibur and Ragdoll the alpacas
Devotion and Mozart the neutrolopes (like boomalopes but for neutroamine, from the 'ReGrowth: Core' mod)
Verona the Cyrenian hind (from the 'Alpha Mythology' mod)
Samson the teratogenic originator (from the 'Alpha Animals' mod)
Teacup, Hayley, Portia, Nadine, Aiko, Fraiser, Salty, Chaplin and Smarmer the horses
Also sleeping in the large pen's barn but not confined by the fences is:
Calvin, Honcho, Whoopie, Zombie, and Paprika the nightling cubs (from the 'Alpha Animals' mod)
Kiki the murkling (from the 'Alpha Animals' mod)
Bryanna and Marauder the red pandas (from the 'Vanilla Animals Expanded' mod)
Tommy Brock the badger, one of only two animals in the colony who does not have a randomized name (from the 'Vanilla Animals Expanded' mod)
Elegance the baby razorjack (from the 'Alpha Animals' mod)
Tumblr media
The small pen is where we keep our ducks. They are named Olivia, Pepe, Shrimp, Dynamo, Zack, Tipsy, Augusta, and Adele. They're very useful for eggs, and we cycle through the duck population every few quadrums so we have fresh meat to make kibble (don't tell the ducks that, though).
Tumblr media
Speaking of meat, next to the pens are our abattoir/kibble-making freezer, our nutrient paste dispenser, and the prison. Prisoners (and suspected-mime Eva) are put on a strict nutrient-paste-only diet, so the proximity helps.
You can also see three of our twelve chemfuel-powered generators and a teeny-tiny secret patch of smokeleaf that we're growing to keep hippie-drug-cultist Gracie happy. Below that are some decorative chemfuel barrels and our sewage treatment plant.
Tumblr media
Next there's the hot tub room with its adjoining facilities, famous for its romantic pink lighting and for being the place where Wookshys proposed to Albina back when I didn't like him.
Also pictured is the children's bedroom, with high-tech illuminated beds, dresser, and end tables so they don't need to worry about being scared of the dark.
Tumblr media
Moving on, we have the classroom that has seen so many of my colonists pass on their knowledge to the children in a variety of sweet and amusing interactions. Next to the classroom is the obligatory schoolyard vegetable patch, which provides most of the vegetarian component for the kibble made in the abattoir next to it.
Don't mind Jesse and his square, by the way. I was already drafting this post before a lovely anonymous ask helped me fix the Curse of Jesse's Box (I love you, anon)
Tumblr media
Here is the ship we have worked so painstakingly to construct, pictured alongside the tomb for cuterpillar Bernie, a patch of opuntia (prickly-pear) cacti from when Albina was testing one of her psycasts, and the thrumbo barn where Pharaoh, Brandi, Big Dipper, Caramel, Bellboy, Ray, Belladonna, Dollie, Apollo, and Dallas sleep at night.

The Ancient Danger has been transformed into a delightful hybrid space, as it is one part laboratory for mechanitor Fafo to muck about in, one part rec room with a billiards table, a dartboard, and even a television set, and one part drug operation because it is where we grow our psychoid plants ready for when Hussar Henry is old enough to need them (along with some mint and uranium root for funsies).
There are also six more chemfuel generators, an infinite chemreactor, and the legendary monument that Fafo carved depicting her then-fiance now-husband Kaz, which is used as a meditation for all colonists with the artistic focus type.
Tumblr media
This is the pool room, which comes with an arcade machine, longwave radio, and roulette table. Next to it are the last three chemfuel generators.
Underneath, there are two barrack rooms. The one on the left is home to Gracie, Emerald, Grump, Hot Minute, and Sam the razorjack. The barracks on the right is currently only home to Jesse and Kelorul, along with Beau the razorjack. There's also a bathroom close by for easy access.

The devil sheep pen is home to many adorable little red devilstrand-producing sheep from the 'Alpha Animals' mod. Sixteen of them to be exact! Their names are Blossom, Petit, Persephone, Tank, Clarence, Crockett, Stellar, Dudette, Violator (my favourite), Honed, Soldier, Heather, Seargent, Fabian, Adonis, and Cassandra. Ingrid the red panda also sleeps in the devil sheep pen for some reason.
To the right you can see a neat little dining area with some sculptures and an industrial radio for recreation, and below that is the temple used by followers of Wendy, Laurie, and Jesse's ideology. There's also a horseshoes pin, for anybody who feels like some low-tech recreation.
Tumblr media
Then there are the boomalope pens, made out of granite instead of wood to avoid any potential fire mishaps. They contain the main providers of the chemfuel we use to power our twelve chemfuel generators. The top pen contains our two male boomalopes, Hunter and Dude, and the bottom pen has the three females, Margarita, Missile, and Liability.
I am of the opinion that "Missile" and "Liability" are the best randomly generated names a boomalope could ever have.

Here is our Wedding Chapel/music room, a lovely little space that the couples of Eureka like to frequent in order to enjoy some musical romance with one another (demonstrated here by Kaz playing the drums for his lovely wife).
Outside we also have a little barbecue and dining area for those few colonists who aren't vegetarian, and in the top left corner, you can see the band node that Fafo is tuned to so that she can hopefully get more mechs in the future!
Tumblr media
This is Eureka's clothing closet (and where we keep the caravan bedrolls too). That long rectangle building in the bottom left is a "monument" we built for the Empire, which is now a fireproof chemfuel storeroom, and also where we brew chemshine to sell to traders (and to satiate Eva's chemical interest trait).
Fafo made both of those monuments, but only one of them (the pyramid) is of legendary quality. The other is only excellent quality, and depicts "a politician playing blackjack with a thousand hooligans".
Some of the planting zones are here, too, including our blueberry field and apiary, one of our chickpea patches, some rice, some cotton, and some sugarcane.
Tumblr media
Some more planting zones (rice, chickpeas, potatoes, onions, more rice and chickpeas, even more chickpeas, gold fern, allspice, plasteel bulbs), along with our only wind turbine and the first solar panel we ever built.
The bedroom at the top right is Albina and Wookshys' room, they share it with Rogan the rottweiler (from the 'Vanilla Animals Expanded' mod). The bedroom below that is Kaz and Fafo's room, which they share with Kaz's bonded razorjack Roxy (from the 'Alpha Animals' mod). The bedroom in the middle is where Hazrov and Candlelight sleep, along with Reaper the razorjack and Anatoly the Tasmanian devil (from the 'Vanilla Animals Expanded - Endangered' mod).
Tumblr media
Four more bedrooms here:
Top left is Wendy and Tamarind's room, shared with Stabber the razorjack (from the 'Alpha Animals' mod)
Top right is Kawoo and Andrei's room, shared with Frisbee the pulmonoscorpius (from the 'Megafauna' mod). Outside their bedroom are also three cheese presses, where we... ~drumroll please~... make cheese!!
Bottom left is Vu and Laurie's room
Bottom right is Baz and Zonovo's room, which they share with Jellybean the razorjack.
Tumblr media
Moving on, we can see the temple of The Wavian Path (Wookshys' sub-cult), with the tomb we built for Wendy and Pearl underneath it. Pearl is still buried there, alongside Fafo's nephew Pinovo because Wendy was resurrected.
Across from the tomb is the landing pad for shuttles and such, along with our ground-penetrating scanner and long-range mineral scanner. In the top left corner, you can also see our main workshops, which contain our smelter, smithy, machining table, fabrication bench, and animal bionics tables. The room with the fabrication bench is also where Buccanneer the drebbbd (from the 'Ebbbs' mod) sleeps.
Outside the workshops are our weapons shelves.

I'm glad I eventually decided to like Wookshys, look how content he is hanging out here on his little fishing bridge. He's close by a lovely picnic table, some bathrooms, an obelisk, and some plantations of almond trees and water chestnuts. He's having a grand time. This site is so pretty, it's one of my favourite places in the whole colony.
There's also a bathing zone on the other side of the bridge, but I... Uh... I wouldn't swim there for a while. The recent raids might have polluted the water a bit.
Tumblr media
Here's our natural meditation area, home to our beloved Anima tree, three Gauranlen trees, and a little jade nature shrine.
Connie is connected to one of the Gauranlen trees, and she has two berrymaker dryads named Herbert and Mortimer. They're very sweet, and I love them both.
Jesse is connected to another Gauranlen tree and currently has a medicinemaker dryad named Wiseguy. A big help to the colony and an all-around cute little guy.
The last Gauranlen tree is connected to colony leader Albina, and she has a funky little acidic spitter dryad from the 'Vanilla Ideology Expanded - Dryads' mod. His name is Rolland, and I adore him. He's so snakey and fun. I should try to draw him someday.
Tumblr media
Here's our freezer, our kibble shelves with Colonist-Gracie's secret smokeleaf-joint-rolling crafting spot hidden between them, one of the bathrooms, the water pumping/treatment facilities for said bathroom, and our single mortar with the shelf that has shells for it.
Tumblr media
This is the majestic temple for The Path of Animism, the one true ideology for The Animist Alliance. We don't do a whole lot in here, but it's nice to look at. Below the temple is the storeroom for things that don't have to be in the freezer, which is mostly wood and silver at the moment.
We also have the crematorium and some of our fruit trees (four lemon trees, two avocado trees, a blood orange tree, and an apple tree). In the weird divet in the wall of the crematorium is an animal sleeping spot for our geriatric salamander Orion, from the 'Alpha Mythology' mod.
Tumblr media
Here we have the obelisk marking our crash-landing site, next to our patch of peas and our outdoor dining area. In the top left corner is Debby and Eva's bedroom, which they share with Polly and Limbo the nightlings (from the 'Alpha Animals' mod).
Beneath that room is the room Brennan used to share with Debby, but now sleeps in alone since the divorce. There are sleeping spots in there for Cinnamon and Moonstruck, Brennan's steel and rock constructs, but I don't think they actually sleep, so the spots aren't used. Behind her room is the stonecutting bench.
In the middle, above the pea patch, is Barghest's room. He's ascetic and doesn't care for fancy things, so it's just him, his bed, and a sleeping spot for Flicker the razorjack (from the 'Alpha Animals' mod). Sleeping along the outside of Barghest's room are:
Hood, Elias, and Huck the red pandas (from 'Vanilla Animals Expanded')
Sinbad the thrumebbb (from the 'Ebbbs' mod)
Witch the cave bear (from the 'Vanilla Animals Expanded - Caves' mod)
Echo the short-faced bear (from the 'Megafauna' mod)
Asset the ankylosaurus (from the 'Biomes! Prehistoric' mod)
And then on the right side, we've got the kitchen/dining room, alongside the art and tailoring benches.
Tumblr media
Eureka has a very well-equipped hospital, with plenty of high-tech medical facilities and a sterile drugs lab which has been put to use making lots of medicine to tend injuries and go-juice for when Henry is old enough to be dependant on it.
The research lab is where Brennan spends most of her time, and often one of the kids will hang out in there with her, radiotalking to get their learning desire up.
Tumblr media
You'll never be short a bathroom in Eureka, there are plenty to choose from, and most of them are quite nice (in my humble opinion). There's also a lovely hot spring surrounded by manicured lawn, should you choose to relax that way. It is situated quite close to our rock/bone pile, but I can't be bothered rearranging it, so it remains an eyesore, I'm afraid.
There are also some transport pods that are used for the occasional trip out-of-colony or to dispose of toxic wastepacks until we finish researching the wastepack atomizer.
Tumblr media
If hot springs aren't to your taste, you could always relax in the saunas! They're found right beside the bedroom that Irwin and Connie share with Bartholomew the ripper hound (from the 'Alpha Animals' mod) and Energizer the angora rabbit (from the 'Vanilla Animals Expanded - Royal Animals' mod), who is the only animal aside from Tommy Brock the badger to not have a randomized name.
Next to Irwin and Connie's room is a small table and two more animal sleeping spots, one for Chianti the boombat (from the 'Vanilla Animals Expanded' mod) and Bernardo the dimorphodon (from the 'Biomes! Prehistoric' mod).
Tumblr media
Eureka has plenty of guest rooms for hosting friends and family from other factions, mostly our allies from The Android Alliance. We don't charge for staying here, as the bounties of The Animist Alliance should be free of charge for everyone to enjoy!
In the top right, you can also see most of the water treatment facilities attached to the prison bathrooms and the hot tub room.
Tumblr media
Finally, we have some more solar panels and our cocoa tree plantation, surrounded by coral coconut trees grown by another of Albina's psycasts gone awry.
And that concludes the endgame colony tour! I hope you like Eureka as much as I do. It's been a lot of fun playing with the City Builders meme, as I usually go for the "massive superstructure" instead of "quaint village", so it was a nice change of pace. I also think the end result is a very homey feeling community, so that's nice.
