this is one of the few instances where a sign-up sheet like this is shown in pokéani (due to the fact that most other competitions use trainer’s pokédexes to sign up, so it’s interesting to see what’s considered the most important information for a competition like this (name, hometown, and party pokémon to be used) as well as just what paperwork looks like in the pokémon world in general.

finished watching all of the BW tournament arcs and my official rankings are:
Clubsplosion (BW070 to BW073) - it’s the best one. every battle is super good, both well-choreographed and very well animated — you can tell that they must’ve had a lot of fun with these, especially the karate and judo-style battling in the finals. the rivals and side characters are at their best in this one, too — Bianca, Georgia, and Burgundy are as funny as ever, it’s fun to root for Stephan, the other people in the tournament are fun (like the guy that can just summon rain???), and I like how the one-off dude with the Throh winds up being the guy to beat.
Nimbasa Town Club Battle (BW039 to BW042) - this one is just okay but it lays the groundwork for future tournaments, so it’s understandable it’s not quite as good. Bianca and Luke’s Zorua’s antics are fun and Georgia and Burgundy meet for the first time, which is a moment that goes down in BW history. speaking of which I like how Luke is in this one, the idea of filming an independent documentary of the tournament is cool. also Iris won :)
PWT Junior Cup (BW090 to BW093) - this one’s fine. it provides much-needed resolvement for Trip’s arc and highlights the issues with Iris and Dragonite’s relationship early on but it’s not as fun to watch as the rest as not only are the battles pretty boring (a lot of them are finished in one hit) but Georgia and Burgundy are the only rivals there so they have to carry the entire funny part of the banter on their own. they’re hilarious as ever, but it’s better when the others are there too. also only four minutes of the last episode is even apart of the junior cup.
