Drake’s Starts Mid-Season 30% Sale

I thought I’d do just a quick sale picks post to highlight the stuff of theirs I’m particularly attracted to.

Everybody is doing brass-button navy DB blazers these days—I even just bought one from Ring Jacket—as kind of a throwback, old-school homage to the preppy vibe of 30 years ago. I personally will be exchanging the buttons on mine, but that’s a personal choice. I really like Drake’s DB design: the peak lapels are attractively shaped with a nice point and angle to the peak, the length is classic and flattering, and it’s a 6×2 configuration meaning it buttons in that middle button instead of at the bottom (which I think looks bad even on attractive, slim models).
Navy linen suit separates. I love how the linen tailoring breaks in (assuming it’s decent quality linen, which this no doubt is). I had a navy linen sportcoat years ago that almost looked like raw denim on the sleeves where sweating into the fabric, and my elbows bending, caused the color to run a bit.
Tan linen glen check jackets are another item everybody seems to have this season. This being a suit separate is really cool—I love the idea of the casual suit worn with a rugby, tee, polo or just an open-collar shirt and desert boots, which is the look Drake’s does so incredibly well.
These colors are all the same ones that look so beautiful in the cool months, but brighter and a bit more cheerful. This would look superb in almost any jacket you put it in: navy, green, tan, brown.
I recently wrote how I prefer chambray shirts to denim, and this chambray point collar shirt would definitely make my short list if I were in the market for one. The long point collar will look fantastic under a jacket but has personality on its own to make it stand out from the sea of J.Crew and Gap chambrays out there.
Basketweave navy blazer. This is a staple, which you can get from many places. The reason I’d recommend Drake’s jacket cut is that it’s a lightly constructed jacket with natural shoulders, and I dig that patch ticket pocket which I don’t usually see. Some say it’s annoying, and I haven’t owned one personally so I can’t say, but visually it’s a little detail that sets it apart from everybody else.
Geometric print ties are all time standby’s, and I like the slightly jaunty look of these off-kilter diamonds. Plus, the shade and hue of navy on this (plus the texture) looks beautiful and fresh.
Lightweight cotton-modal blend scarf. I have a Drake’s scarf in modal that’s extremely lightweight, which is actually a feature, not a bug, as it can allow you to wear a scarf without cooking if it’s not arctic enough outside. I really like the colors in this one, which would look great with navy and tan jackets.
