I really hate how people act like Jon becoming King is him "usurping" his siblings when that's an unfair stigma that's followed him his entire life for being a bastard. It just blows my mind that people ignore Jon's own thoughts and wishes on the topic. Well, guess what? Robb named him as his heir, he will have a legitimate claim to Winterfell, and he will be part of discussions on who will rule. Even without that, it's very likely that some of his siblings would support him as King. I just hate how the conversation around him becoming King is framed as some big betrayal.
so am i right saying that men in the realm were opposite the idea to put woman on the throne - not because it was against the law because it was stated many times in books that they may have stronger claims than their male relatives - and that's why visenya, rhaena, aerea, daenerys, rhaenys and laena didn't get their chance, that's why the men were weird the fck out when viserys called rhaenyra his heir disinheriting daemon but y'all say that after aegon's birth he was the rightfull heir cause of some law you state does exist (also some calling the law "son before daughter, daughter before brother" as if that wouldn’t mean that rhaenyra was the heir since her birth all along before daemon)
and you - and the westerosi "historians" - call rhaenyra the usurper or pretender for sitting on the throne acknowledging at the same time that she was supported by many houses - the whole north, arryn, velaryon, beesburry, caswell, fell etc - mostly leaded by men
so y'all really try to say that rhaenyra targaryen was a woman AND a usurper in the realm who refused the crown to female heirs for years even though she was supported by the very same men that freaked out hearing she's the heir of viserys, how the fck a woman in westeros had any chance to usurp the throne if she wasn't acknowledged publicly by most (ekhem every ehkem ekhem) of the houses as truthful heir? how?? who would support a pretender woman against male heir in westeros? it was a male pretender against female rightful ruler all the way

reposting my twitter thrifting stuff because the site's gone down the shitter. here's stuff from April 17th 2023. as a start, Paul Galdone's adaptation of Puss in Boots from 1976.
Galdone's art is so charming and Puss looks like any ol' tuxedo cat, it's very endearing.
another interesting book that is very Finnish in nature is Suomen kansan peikkosatuja (freely translated as "Finnish people's troll fairy tales") with illustrations by Erkki Tuomi, published in 1979. (I could imagine these stories to be even older since based on Tuomi's signature the art is from 1947!)
I like how in these illustrations the titular troll just looks like a big, kind of dim-witted guy. I imagine there's also versions where the hero takes on a giant, again, with the same premise.
generally the theme of these kinds of fairy tales is that the intrepid hero beats the brawny troll with his wits alone. the weak but clever defeating the strong but cocky.
my younger sister [12 years old]: listen I know I cleaned the downstairs bathroom two days ago but I feel icky just standing inside of it and I know there's dust in the corner over there so I'm going to clean it again
me: is that a magnus archives reference?
my kid sister [7 years old]: I'm really afraid of people watching me without my knowledge, it freaks me out so much and at any given time I don't know if I'm alone or not because anyone could be watching and I'd never realise
me: is that a magnus arch-
my neighbour: I keep finding these random tape recorders all over my house, I don't really need them, and I don't know where I got them, but I'm probably just going to keep getting rid of them, do you want some?

my friend: you know what you remind me of? a depressed, paranoid, sleep deprived librarian or archivist of some kind, but like, in a spooky way? you get what I mean? I don't know if it's the way you dress, or the way you act, but you just really give off those vibes.
Millennial parents who come into my place of work to buy Harry Potter books for their children are doing irreparable damage to society forever and must be stopped
I’m in such a Hilda hype I saw these two in stores and bought ‘em.
I saw ‘em on Thursday, but didn’t buy them, and then I went out again and saw they were still there and just had to snatch them.
I wanna get the graphic novels eventually, but they didn’t have em on location.
I feel like it really shouldn't be unreasonable for 2 professional workers in their late twenties to feel like they should be able to afford a 2-bedroom apartment
a fairy tale collection, Fairy Tales and Fables, 1970, illustrated by Gyo Fujikawa.
another very cute version of Puss in Boots.
I'll never know who the guy here is, if he was the king he'd look way fancier and more king...ly. is he the ogre? who knows.
a massive tome by Scott Gustafson from 2003, Classic Fairy Tales, so very recent. also sadly, this book doesn't have any fairy tales with giants in it, despite the cover.
