this is really random but i stare at the game's sprites a lot. like its an actual hobby of mine to collect images of my interests and just stare at them. Autism moments, idk. anyways while i was doing this i was thinking. sozo's clothes look like a form-fitting union suit with cutoffs. like it seems to be a one piece. the closure in the middle,, goes all the way down. y'know, like a union suit. which i can only assume means it could likely have... an ass flap. strolling around the treacherous mushroom forest of anura in basically pajamas. Imagine.
(of course i'd assume in-universe its not considered pajamas, and is prob made with durable materials that are more suited for travel but)
im so sorry that im sending This in your asks. its so dumb lmao
No you see this just give credence to my idea that he's got an abdomen back there and therefore makes all my drawings canon Sozo design for real on god . Obviously he needs an ass flap he needs to be able to wear something that allows room for his Abdomen. Obviously. Duh. Makes complete sense
Also he's an old man who decided it was a smart idea to go wandering into the fucked up and evil mushroom forest full of cultists that's owned by the God of Famine . Why would he NOT go the extra mile to show his Recklessness and only wear pajamas . it's a statement. Not necessarily a fashion one, but one of Pride. /j
or sure maybe it's a more durable type for travel. If he's a coward./j /j

quick reminder to everyone that the irish famine was not a genocide

Irish food is very similar to British food. A lot of not very well seasoned protein and mainly vegetables like cabbage and potatoes to go along with it. Because y'know that not well known period in history when there was a bloody famine. There's also dairy in everything like America because its a nation full of cows. Food was created for maximum calorific intake because for a lot of people they never knew when they would eat next. Hell even Guinness is known for being a high calorie beer with lots of iron. The whiskey was just so life was less miserable. Can we just stop mocking food in general. Its a sensitive topic and holds a lot of cultural significance and history.
"Ugh why is their cuisine so terrible" like 90% of the time they're poor and it's what they've got and the fact that they still manage to get a decent taste out of it is remarkable. The other 10% is them being so ungodly rich that they have to make up new "rich foods" for elitist purposes where taste, nutrition, and everything else that actually goes into making food good has been completely eclipsed by the need to show off wealth.

Famine's Surprise
Famine decides to surprise his partner, and it's a surprise that neither of them will ever forget
((This has been stuck in my mind for probably more than a week now, and I couldn't hold off on writing it any longer))
"Hey uh... Do ya think we could talk, firefly?"
Retribution glanced up at his partner from the book he'd been reading. He made a sound in confirmation and gave a nod, "Of course. What's up, Famine?" The taller of the pair slipped into Ret's bedroom, tugging the door shut behind himself. Famine took a seat on the former prince's bed, his cheekbones flushing a soft shade of faded denim blue, "I... Was wonderin' if we could maybe go over our relationship a little." Retribution arched a brow bone, marking the page in his book before setting it aside. Scooting closer to Famine and laying his head on the taller's shoulder, he hummed, "I suppose we could do that, if you'd like. Is there any particular reason why you wanted to talk about it?" Famine gently wrapped an arm around his smaller partner's waist, "It's nothin' bad, I promise. I just thought it could be nice ta revisit some a' the more special moments we've had."
The shorter rider made another sound, this time in acknowledgment, "You know, I think you might be right about that. I think it could be nice, too." He paused, offering Famine a soft smile, "Which moment should we start with? We've had quite a few already." Famine hummed in consideration, tilting his head, "Hmmmm, let's see... Our first official date was somethin' pretty special." Retribution's cheekbones became a faint shade of cyan and his smile widened slightly in amusement, "What was special about it? It's not like we went out somewhere or did very much, after all. I'm actually a little surprised that you managed to remember it, considering how bland it was." The taller rider shrugged his shoulders, absentmindedly beginning to caress Ret's side, "Maybe you think it was bland, but I remember it a bit differently. I remember bein' on the roof with you in my arms. You were adorable, y'know."
He offered Retribution a small, sheepish grin and continued, "...When the sun finally set and it got dark out, ya practically lit right up, takin' the opportunity ta point out constellations and tellin' me stuff about 'em. Ya got embarrassed about ramblin' at me and tried ta apologize, but then I told ya to shut up. Ya looked pretty bummed out, so for clarification, I asked ya ta tell me more about the stars." The former prince's expression softened and he let out a sigh, his cyan blush darkening the smallest bit, "Ah. Of course you'd remember that." Famine snorted in amusement, "Mmhm, you bet I did, firefly. I remember how happy ya looked when ya were tellin' me about all the constellations, and nothin' was more beautiful ta me in that moment. Genuine happiness and enthusiasm looked really good on ya, and I wanted ta keep seein' ya like that."
The shorter rider's blush continued to very gradually darken and he tilted his head, "Well you're certainly quite the charmer, aren't you? How about we talk about you being cute now, though?" Famine blinked in surprise, his faint blush becoming noticably brighter as Ret pressed even closer to him. As the former prince straddled his lap and turned to face him, Famine instinctively gripped his hips. Ret lifted a hand and gingerly touched Famine's face, humming lowly, "You've been working so hard lately to overcome the part of your trauma that involves children. I've seen the way you are in the kitchen with Morty, and it's incredibly precious... While he still has quite a bit to learn, you're always right there, more than willing to teach him."
Famine smiled to himself, sheepishly glancing away from Retribution, "I guess? 'M just tryna learn ta relax around kids again, honestly. He's a good kid, and I don't mind lendin' him a hand and showin' him how ta do stuff." The former prince cupped Famine's face with both hands, rubbing circles on his cheeks with his thumbs. The taller rider all but melted under his touch, and Ret smiled warmly, "And that's what I love about you. You're always so willing to help those around you, regardless of what it is that they need." The taller of the pair rumbled lowly in acknowledgment, turning his head to press a kiss to one of his hands and murmuring, "Ya make me sound a lot better than I really am, Ret. I ain't that good of a person. I try, but sometimes it's a bit tricky."
The shorter of the pair arched a brow bone, absentmindedly tilting his head, "That's complete nonsense, and you know it. I'm only stating facts and things that I've observed." Famine rolled his eye light in mild amusement, "Yeah, yeah. Whatever ya say, moonbeam. If we're stating facts now though, it's my turn." Retribution opened his mouth to question the other, but was cut off, letting out a startled sound as he was flipped onto his back. Famine leaned over him, his grip firm but gentle as he pinned the smaller down. As his cyan blush visibly brightened, the taller rider smiled affectionately down at him, "You're understanding and patient, and ya never give me grief when I forget somethin'. Ya choose ta let your guard down around me, and ya treat me like a normal guy, even though ya know about the things I've done. I trust you with my soul, the same way you trust me with yours."
Retribution stared up at him, and he sighed softly, moving a hand to gently touch the other's face, "You're so considerate a' me, and if I start ta lose my grasp on things, ya know how ta bring me back ta reality. Even if I'm so far gone that I'm seein' shit that ain't there, you know exactly what ta do ta help me out a' that. I'd be lost without you, Ret. I don't care if your job as karmic justice gets a little messy sometimes, and I don't care that you're some alternate guardian a' negativity. I'd follow ya ta the end of the multiverse itself... I mean it." Ret's blush became even brighter and began to glow faintly, and he was left speechless. Seeing that his partner was at a loss, Famine sighed softly, sliding his free hand into his pocket. As he began to fumble with something, he continued smiling at Retribution, his gaze still just as warm and loving as before.
The former prince's surprised gaze remained locked on him, and he murmured, "Famine?... What brought this on?..." His larger partner hummed, "I know we haven't even been together a full year yet, but I seriously can't imagine my life without you. I wanna make you mine, and I feel like a good way a' doin' that would be ta progress our relationship further than it is now." Ret's voice became softer than before, "...What are you saying, Famine?"
Famine's own blush began to gradually darken and he began to look shy, "I... I'm sayin' that you're my world, Ret. My sun, moon, and stars, all at once. I dunno what I'd do without you, and... With that bein' said, I want you ta be my life mate." He paused, and Ret's eyes widened as he withdrew a ring from his pocket, sheepishly offering it to him, "I want you ta marry me, Retribution. I understand if I'm askin' too much a' you too soon, but you're so amazin' that I couldn't help it. I love you, and I wanna stay by your side as long as you'll have me." Cyan tinted tears began to prick at the rims of Retribution's sockets and he whispered, "You really love me that much?... But... But I'm... I'm ME. Disgusting and corrupted. I'm NIGHTMARE. Are you sure you'd really want to spend the rest of your days with someone like me?"
Without hesitation, Famine made a sound in confirmation, gently stroking Ret's cheek with his thumb, "Of course I'm sure, firefly. I'm as sure as I am honest. I don't think you're disgusting, I think you're perfect. And so what if you've got a little corruption in ya? I do, too. As far as bein' Nightmare goes... That ain't true. Maybe ya started off kinda the same, but you're not him anymore. You're Retribution, the rider a' karmic justice... Not Nightmare, the evil bastard guardian a' negativity." Cyan tears began to roll down the former prince's face and he wrapped his arms around Famine. Tugging the taller rider down until their bodies were flush against each other, he buried his face in the crook of his partner's neck as he sniffled. Famine wrapped an arm around him and held him close, wanting to provide as much comfort as possible.
A moment passed before Retribution gave a tiny nod and murmured, "...Yes." His larger partner tilted his head and made a sound in response, his tone questioning. Ret wiped the tears from his face with his sleeve and drew in a deep breath, "Yes, Famine... I'll marry you."

OK... ok I can handle those.... kinda. XD Centipedes though? I expect some really nice apology flowers sent to my funeral. *shudders and crawls into the box opposite corner from Death* Let's not tempt fate. Can any of the rest of you shapeshift?
*he shrugs, completely at ease
Eh, not really. I mean, ravens and crows try to gravitate toward me sometimes, but that's not exactly shapeshifting. I think the shapeshifting is something unique to Pestilence, given his particular role
Since, y'know. Diseases spread. War and Famine can spread too, but not in the same way
And what better way for Pest to spread diseases than with the help of locusts, the biblical bringer of the plague in Egypt (I believe?), and rats, an animal with a bad rep as far as that sort of thing goes? It just makes his job a hell of a lot easier, I think

Y'know what? Ret has too much pride. He needs to be knocked down a couple pegs-
-which is exactly why I'm making it a thing now where the full moon has an effect on him. The full moon makes him noticeably more affectionate and cuddly. This is when he's more likely to use cute nicknames and be found perched on Famine's lap, completely unashamed and not as embarrassed as normal. He's also less likely to lash out and get angry, too
Keep in mind: this is when he's inside, not under the direct moonlight. If he goes outside, the effects become a lot stronger and may make him act differently toward Famine. As in,, attempting to make out with him and being way more touchy than normal
When the sun comes up and it's day again, he goes back to normal, remembers what he did the night before, and tries to hide all day out of embarrassment and shame

Retribution's first kiss
Because the way the whole thing is described makes it sound a bit more suggestive than intended, ima put it under a cut, just to be safe
It's meant to be innocent though, I swear. It only started to toe the thin line between ok and questionable because Retribution suddenly decided to be brave XP its his fault, everybody blame him
"Are you serious? Come on, Ret. Don't tell me you're a grown man who hasn't kissed anyone yet."
Retribution's cheekbones gained a faint cyan tint and he frowned, scowling at the other rider, "Shut your mouth, Pestilence. What I have and haven't done should be none of your concern." Pestilence arched a single brow bone, "You're right, it's not. I'm just... worried about you, y'know." Retribution's brow bones became knit in confusion, to which Pestilence smirked, "It's not normal for a guy your age to be going on about his life, without having his first kiss."
Retribution's cyan blush visibly darkened and he grumbled under his breath, turning his back to the other skeleton, "...Unless you plan to change the subject, I'm done speaking to you." The walking plague watched him for a moment and let out an exaggerated sigh, "Fine, fine. I'm just teasing, dude. I don't really care if you've kissed anyone or not. You're right. That's your business, not mine."
The shorter of the two remained silent and Pestilence rolled his eye lights, exiting the room. From his spot beside Retribution, Famine finally spoke up, his voice almost hesitant, "...You really haven't had your first kiss yet? For real?" The skeleton in question glanced up at his companion, his cheekbones burning a brilliant cyan now, "...No, I haven't," he waited a few seconds before continuing, his voice softer, "Is that bad? Should I really have done it by now? It's... It's rather pathetic, isn't it?"
Famine glanced down to see his friend, frowning and looking as though it was taking every ounce of his energy to keep himself together. He shook his head, lightly nudging the smaller man with his elbow, "Nah, don't worry about it. It's not bad, and it's definitely not pathetic. You'll do it when you're ready, ok? It'll be alright."
Retribution slowly shifted his attention upward, briefly meeting Famine's gaze, "But what if I'm ready now?... There's no one around that actually wants to kiss me, so there's nothing I can do about it." Famine hummed softly and shrugged, absentmindedly scratching the back of his skull, "I dunno, Ret. Ya gotta be willin' to talk to people and get to know them, in order for them to decide if they'd be ok with kissin' you or not. A stranger won't wanna do that for ya. Not a good kinda stranger, at least."
Making a face, Retribution shifted in his seat, "Yeah? Well we both know that's not going to happen. I'd rather die than trust a human, and you're aware of that." Famine nodded, "Yeah, I know. It doesn't have to be a human though. Maybe try to trust another monster. Hell, if you pick the right AUs, another Sans might even do it for ya." The cloak clad rider continued to frown, his tone holding a very clear tinge of uncertainty, "I don't know, Famine... I just don't know..."
Famine was silent, observing his companion for a moment. He then let out a deep sigh, his own cheekbones dusting a faint shade of blue, "...If it's really that big of a deal to ya, then I'll do it." Retribution's eye lights seemed to brighten as he stared up at the other rider, visibly surprised, "You'd do that, Famine?... Why though?" The taller skeleton monster arched a single brow bone again and tilted his head, "Because I'm your friend? Maybe I just wanna help ya sometimes, is all."
Retribution hesitated, his blush darkening further as he began to nervously fidget, picking at his cloak, "O-Ok... Thank you... I appreciate that a lot. Really." Famine offered him a lazy grin, appearing completely at ease, "Yeah, no problem. Now before we do this, for the sake of clarification so I know exactly what you want; do you want a quick peck, one that lingers a few seconds, or one with tongue?"
The shorter skeleton's sockets seemed to widen slightly as his embarrassment began to increase, "I... I uh... C-Could we maybe do one that lingers, and see where it goes from there? If it ends up involving tongue, I guess that's alright... Just this once though, got it?" Famine snorted in amusement, still grinning as he replied, "Yeah, I gotcha. That sounds doable enough. Once you're comfortable with the lingerin' one, then gimme some sorta signal if you wanna push it any farther. Like... touch my face or shoulder or somethin', and I'll know." Retribution nodded, sheepishly looking away from him, "Alright, I will."
Famine made a soft sound of acknowledgement, smiling slightly again, "Cool, cool... Now, I'll need ya to relax and close your eyes. If you wanna stop at any point, we can, you just have to tell me." Nodding again, Retribution fidgeted and closed his eyes, taking a few deep breaths in an effort to calm his nerves.
The taller rider watched him in silence, shifting in his seat to face him. Leaning forward, he grasped the back of the couch with one hand, using the other hand to delicately catch Retribution's chin. Making sure the smaller of the two stayed as relaxed as possible, he waited a few seconds before closing the distance between them, letting his own eyes drift shut. As his teeth gently pressed against those of the other skeleton, Famine felt him flinch, and he stopped moving, staying still.
Time seemed to freeze as Retribution attempted to adjust, and then with the aid of fleeting courage, he slowly lifted a hand, beginning to tremble the smallest bit as he placed it on Famine's face. Quickly picking up on the signal he was given, he began to deepen the kiss, going slow and allowing Retribution to mimic his motions, learning them surprisingly fast.
Famine very gently coaxed the other rider's teeth apart with the sapphire ecto tongue he'd conjured, and as it slipped into his mouth, he was surprised to find that Retribution had, at some point, conjured a tongue as well. He continued to go slow, at first delicately touching his tongue to that of his companions, and very gradually, the exchange picked up it's speed and intensity, their tongues tangling and dancing to some unheard tune.
Retribution slipped his still shaky hand from Famine's face to his shoulder, delicately pushing. Once again quick to pick up the hint he was given, the taller of the two slowly pulled away from the kiss, his cheekbones now dusted a bright shade of blue as he sighed softly and opened his eyes. Retribution cracked an eye open, and upon seeing Famine looking down at him, his entire face became a vibrant cyan, almost bright enough to glow.
Without a word, the shorter rider hid inside his cloak and hugged his knees to his chest, trying desperately to get his bearings. Unable to help but smile again, Famine chuckled, lightly patting the top of his skull through his cloak and sighing, "I gotta go start preppin' dinner, so you get a little bit of time to cool down now. If ya need anythin', ya know where to find me."
Retribution nodded, his voice barely audible, "Ok... thank you, Famine. Really. For helping me with my first kiss, for everything." Famine's expression softened and he hummed, "Of course. You're my buddy, of course I'd help ya."
